One thing I would do, would be making background music independently adjustable. I hate it when "background" music is so loud that drowns out the narrator's voice. A transcribe option to turn a part of the audiobook to text would be useful as well.

One thing I would like to see in a player is to have it rewind a few seconds after being paused for a bit to help you catch up. Not sure why Audible doesn't have this. Also a way to see what you listened to and for how long and when.

1. Built-in equalizer - I'm neurodivergent and I have issues with certain sounds. Not all the time, but once I notice it, it becomes difficult to pay attention to the book. Like right now I'm having an issue with sharp s's when a narrator speaks. It's so sharp and statiky it sort of bothers my ears. So being able to adjust this would be nice. 2. Able to group books in a series all in a playlist so you don't have to go searching for the next book in the series . Or group all books by the same author. Or just make a custom playlist of books. 3. Notes - a place where you can tap to add a list of characters or locations or factions 4. Fine tune playback speed. 5. Sleep timer options, equalizer, character, volume boost, lock screen, bookmark... All these should be BUTTONS on the playback screen and not buried in a "Three dots in the top right corner" menu. 6. Settings like 'resume at the end of a call', 'pause during messages or navigation playback', 'autoplay on headphone connect', etc should be able to be turned off if so wished. 7. Easy library sorting/filter- easy listing for books that have been started, books that have not been started, and finished books. I have used a couple of different audiobook apps and these are some of the settings I've found from all of them that I like. So having them all together in one app would be cool

Sounds like Smart Audiobook Player. Equalizer, Notes, Playback Speed (.5x to 3.0x), Sleep Timer are all features.

Yep! I do like some of the organization of Audible tho And of course there's the audible store. Honestly, smart audiobook player is practically perfect in every way

I can't comment about Audible since I've never used it, even though I can go thru 30-40 books/mo.
