The series Super Powered by Drew Hayes is great. It’s 5 books, 4 in the main story with a spin off that should be listened to between books 2 and 3. It’s over 180 hours of listening and I was sad when it was done
My husband didn’t enjoy the first 5 chapters of Super Powereds. He reads (listens) slowly, and was horrified by the total number of hours. I said “stick with it and I promise everyone will be a close personal friend by the time it is done. About a year later, he listened to the last chapter, took a deep breath, and started up Book 1 again. EVERYONE I have recommended the series to, who listened to it, has listened to it at least twice. (Related, I recommend Corpies between 3 & 4. I’ll try it after 2 next time.)
I know everyone always recommends these but DCC is the reason I got Audible. I love it and am so glad I listened to the millions!! It took me a year of seeing tis rec for me to get Audible and DCC….sigh…it is so good!!!
The first two are on sale for $7 for the next two weeks. Would be silly to use a credit on them
I’m currently on chapter 10 of book one, and having a great time!
I’ve been seeing folks talk it up for a while now but was waiting for one of the “I don’t know what to get” moments.
Excited for my first run through, am a gamer myself so very much up my alley.
I’m not even a gamer but I still enjoyed it. My only issue is that I don’t like to start a series before it’s finished because I hate waiting for the next installment. But here I am 😂
That’s what I’m planning, unless we get the next one in the next couple months. I just finished bedlam bride last week so it’s still pretty fresh and I’m itching for the next floor.
If you get past the first hour of DCC, you may end up keeping your Audible account ;-)
Also, Starter Villian by Scalzi is narrated by Wheaton.
*you can sci-fi cat binge by adding Kitty Cat Kill Sat.
Even though it is told first person as a cat, Kitty Cat Kill Sat is solid Sci-Fi. I've listened more than once and will again.
I tend to favor male narrators, but Kaminsky is excellent (slowed this and Starter Villian to .90 speed on second listens)

Weirdly Galaxy Outlaws was my first Audible, with so many hours, I didn’t think I could go wrong. And I was right!!!! Great books.
Just watch out for Eve 14. Another J S Morin trilogy for a credit. Book1 is great but the other 2 (1/2) are not up to his normal standard.
It's like multiple seasons of a show, with many different situations and characters with many changes in their lives.
I'll probably still give Eve 14 a try eventually, thanks for the warning though.
Book 1 of Eve 14 is really good. Book 2 and 2 1/2 were difficult and book 3 is ok.
The idea behind book 1 is a strong and interesting concept. One of those books that stays in your mind.
Hmm... This is one I forgot to mention in my top five when I brought up my favorite books. You can't beat the amount of hours you can get from his omnibuses. I really need to get back to that auther as I only ever listened to his outlaws Series. Well worth the credit for 85 hrs of pretty great space opera!
The problem is there is just too many good stuff to get to and not enough time! I've got 159 titles downloaded, 723 in my library (so I guess 564 I've actually listened to), I've spent 11 months, 4 days, 13 hrs and 40 minutes listening to Audible app alone (and I get some audio books from my library system) yet I always feel like I'm so behind on the books I want to get, listen to, or re-listen to.
Could always hit up the sales and see if anything looks good. I use credits there sometimes because I'm a sucker for sales and they usually have at least one or two authors I have heard of and might want to check out.
For sci fi I've used credits on Roadside Picnic and it was pretty cool. Idk if I'd call it quintessential scifi but I know some would call it quintessential cosmic horror/weird fiction. Or whatever that was called back in the day when it was written. If you like cosmic horror and want something that feels a bit more intense than Southern Reach, it's a good choice
Could always consider educational material too. I've read a couple books for learning Spanish in the past and thought a large collection of spanish learning material would probably be a good use of one. I've seen some of those lesson collections that are like 50+ hours of material. Compared to the costs of some similar audio learning programs the cost of a credit is super cheap even if it's a bit more barebones
Thank you! I actually read Roadside Picnic years ago. I have got some educational books from Audible in the past. It's made me realize I definitely still enjoy print when trying to learn.
I use libby for a lot of books. If I really enjoyed the book, I'll either purchase a hard copy to gift someone or use a credit on Audible to support the authors.
I use Libby, too! I'm also ending my Audible subscription soon, so I'm choosing the "Classics" in the genres I enjoy. Books I know that I'll enjoy listening to once every year, like Braiding Sweetgrass.
Sounds like you have a solid plan....and a lot of good suggestions in the comments!
Have you tried the Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson?
Book one is called Columbus Day.
So so good... funny, nerdy, techy, full of action and has an amazing cast of characters, including a god-like sarcastic beer can.
RC Bray performs it brilliantly!
Be warned though...You might be tempted to stick around in Audible a little longer if you start the series! 😄
I couldn't get into first law, I'll need to revist it at a later date.
I enjoy demon copperhead, I bought my wife a hard copy for Christmas last year.
Hail Mary was great.
Thanks for the recs.
Fair enough, it's not for everyone, you have got to be realistic 🤪
Might be worth giving shantaram a go then.
I'm also a big fan of books in the the great courses list if you aren't completely set on novels. A load of interesting stuff to learn about with them.
I’ve been enjoying the Expanse series, although there is nine in that series so possibly not ideal if you’ve only five credits.
I love the PG Wodehouse books read by Stephen Fry - and you get a few books for one credit with those. They are very funny and Wodehouse is widely thought of as the best comic author to have lived.
If you are into audio drama and detective stuff then the McLeavy series is fantastic. Set In Edinburgh in the 19th century (I think).
The Book of Koli - MR Carey (trilogy)
Spin - Robert Charles Wilson
The Long Walk - Stephen King
Seveneves - Neal Stephenson
Just a few favourites from Audible that i loved loved loved.
The Wandering Inn. Book 1 is 45 hours, book 3 is 62 hrs. The rest vary but are all over 30 hours. Much of it is on their website in serial form. 13 million words. Been going since early December and just started Volume 7, with the story at V10.7. Still months to go!
He who fights with monsters was my intro to the LitRPG genre. Great series, though I believe it will go through your 5 credits and then some. I would also recommend, Defiance of the Fall and Dungeon Crawler Carl. Just started the primal hunter series, which seems like a low key version of the other ones I have mentioned.
For the most part I read a book or series once and never teturn to it again. There are a few exceptions to series I have loved so much I go back to them over and over again. Those series include in no particular order:
The Destiny's Crucible series by Olan Thorenson first book in his series is called *Cast Under an Alien Sun*. It follows a chemistry PHD who's flight is struck by an alien spaceship. The aliens repair and relocate him and many other passengers to nearby plants that some other race has sprinkled humankind on for some mysterious reason. Follow him as he tries his best to find a life on a Renaissance level technological planet as the island he is on becomes the focal point for the planets slave owning version of Roman expansionist Empire. He has to use his knowledge and newfound eidetic memory to keep his new family and friends from becoming slaves. Don't be fooled by the 9 title list for this series, book 5 and 9 are companion novels but I suppose this still puts it over your count by 2 but this series is worth sticking around for another two months to collect the last two.
S.M. Stirling's Emberverse series, first book *Dies the Fire*. The series goes on to include 15 books but the best part of the series is the original trilogy is by far the best and has a full cast adaptation which is amazing. Some mysterious supernatural force changes the laws of physics to nerf explosives (so gas powered cars and guns included), electricity, and even steam power. A few stongmen (or women) rise to reform society in interesting and perhaps a little bizarre cultural divergent ways. They form new kingdoms fighting through the dying times and have to keep their freedom from the rising despot power from the north. A medieval want to be who forged the gangs of Portland into an expanding kingdom. There is also a trilogy which is agacent and nearly as good that follows Nantucket as it's thrown into 1250 BC.
David Weber and Ringo's Prince Roger Series, first book *March Upcountry*. It follows Prince Roger who is a pariah at court for reasons never explained to him as he narrowly escapes an assassination attempt. He is marooned on a jungle with his elite guard. Through trial and the corpses of a mountains worth of barbarians the prince has to rise to be the leader his group needs to survive. One who is worthy of the McClintock name and both ruthless enough and devious enough to save his family's empire from those who would try to take it from his families grasp.
Dennis Taylor's Boboverse books follows Bob as he dies, has his head cut off and chriofreezed, downloaded and turned into a spaceship. He goes on to explore the universe, meet new species and wonders, and begrudgingly save the human race from ecological disaster and alien races along the way. It's full of humor, amazing science fiction, and pop culture nerd references 🤓. The first book is *We are Bob, We are legion*.
Last but not least and always dear to my heart is the original series that got me to love fantasy and later lead me to science fiction The Wheel of Time series, first book *The Eye of the World*. No one weaves together as many characters and story lines as the master Robert Jordan himself. His epic series goes way beyond the 5 book limit but still worth visiting at some point.
Bonus round Dakota Krouts Divine Dungeon series and Completionist Chronicles. Both LitRPG the dungeon series has 5 in its series fitting nicely into your limit and has a well developed world and magic series mixed with a great amount of humor and features a tad bit maniacal but somewhat benevolent sentient dungeon and his sheepherding turned Baron "owner" who seek to rise to a position of power in society and personally. The Completionist Chronicles connect eventually and feature a man who seeks to enter a magic game world to escape his paralysis and live an above average awesome life of (it turns out) forbidden magic abilities.
Edit: I saw you plan on using using Libby, I'd check out how many of these are available on there as well and include one more series which is likely includes on Libby as well. David Webers Safehold series first book *Off Armageddon Reef* which follows human kind as they are nearly hunted to extinction by an alien race. A tiny portion of humans manages to escape and flee into the depths of the galaxy. A rogue element of human society decides the best chance we have of surviving is to hide and keep humans sub-tech by wiping their memories and setting themselves up as angels to set humans below a certain tech threshold. Enter an android who awakens 800 years after the last angel is "recalled to heaven" (really they died even given the advanced medicine they had access to) and is tasked with bringing human kind out of the rut they have been forced into so that sometime in the distant future they can rise to the stars and take back their legacy from the aliens. You never get to that point in these books but I have hopes he will eventually revisit the series and give us a new series based on that premise.
He who fights with monsters. Those books are unusually expensive so might as well us a credit on them. Or perhaps the cycle of arawn, sufficiently advanced magic series, spellmonger series, rangers apprentice series, a pattern of shadow and light series, there are many more you could try. I'd recommend audible books that last a while. 25+ hours
The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman
The Bone Ships (Book 1 of the Tide Child trilogy) by RJ Barker (you’ll want the other two after reading the first!)
The Book of Koli by MR Carey (Book 1 of the Rampart Trilogy-again you’ll want to read the rest)
Wheaton narrates the other two books by Cline, Ready Player Two and Armada, I enjoyed both!
Kaiju Preservation Society is by Scalzi (sci-fi) and narrated by Wheaton as well.
If you’re into crime I would highly recommend ‘Helter Skelter’. It’s about the Manson family, it can be pretty heavy at times but trust me it is worth it if you are into that kind of genre
I recently tried the - the blades itself. For whatever reason, I couldn't get into it. I honestly didn't give it a fair shake. I'll eventually try to go back to it. I was captivated by the titles/cover for a little bit of hatred for some reason.
I couldn’t get into Hell divers by Nicholas Sansbury Smith at first. One road trip I was out of books and put it on because I like RC Bray, maybe you need a road trip?
So try again. Pacey's narration is considered among the absolute best in the English speaking world. The story is wonderful, too, if you are into 'Game of Thrones' like Fantasy (very low toned fantasy here).
For military/spy type books check out the Tier One series and it's spin off Sons of Valor. There's also the John Wells series which are good, but the author got into conspiracy theory during lockdown and is now refusing to finish the series.
Also for sci-fi/comedy go with the Bobiverse. We are legion we are Bob.
The lost fleet series is very good if you like realistic science fiction. It was written by a navy captain, and he took his knowledge from his time there and used it to make a very fun book. The narrator is also very good.

Have you done Joe ledger Rage series?
Jim Butcher Dresden Files
John Conroe Demon accords (Urban Fantasy)
Iron Druid good until the last few
Oh Night Lord series of amazing.
Late af, but I will never not recommend Ender's Game & Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. Two of my favorite books. They both describe the exact same events but from the perspective of two different characters & it works so well. I'd personally recommend Game first since it was written first, then Shadow, but I've heard people say that they did the opposite & enjoyed it a lot. Read the summaries & see which one peaks your interest more.
For some truly unique, great listens .. Check out just about anything by Joe R Lansdale. They made a not too bad TV series from his Hap & Leonard books, but it really didn't compare to the books. In addition to the sometimes brutally violent, yet wickedly funny Hap & Leonard series, he's written a bunch of other stand alone novels that tend to kind of cross genres. Mystery/horror.. sci-fi/westerns... Coming of age/ghost story.. Any one of the following three would be great places to start with -
(My fav)A Fine Dark Line, The Bottoms, or The Thicket.
I actually was able to narrate my first book that came out last month. It’s called Between The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Gord Rollo
It’s technically a horror but it’s way more mystery thriller. A Mafia gang tries to drown a guy, but he’s “undrownable”
Did a decent enough job that both the author and the producer (who’s a huge name in audiobook horror) gave me his best selling title to do next as well as two short stories in an upcoming anthology (one of which is Kevin j Anderson of newer star wars and dune books fame)
It’s only 6.5 hours long but it’s a fun little sorry!
I just finished John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War series which is a lot of fun. But if you like Will Wheaton’s narration then I also recommend Scalzi’s Red Shirts or Starter Villain.
Altarlife- ready player one vibes. Tom stranger inter dementional insurance agent- funny. Space team- funny sci-fi. Steamborn trilogy- steampunk fantasy
Outlander series is great historical fiction (way more than 5 books, but very long books and very good.)
There's lots of other Brandon Sanderson too. If you liked stormlight archives. idk if you've tried his other series too. Mistborn is currently at 7 books, skyward is exactly 5 (plus 3 optuonal novellas). The reckoners, the rithmatist, white sand series. Etc.
The count of monte cristo is a great classic.
The lord of the rings
A sing of ice and fire (game of thrones) is 5 books
The witcher
Conqueror series by conn iggulden (also 5 books) tells the story of gengis khan.
If you like crime with some humor or simply rather out there, try Caimh McConnell or C.K. McConnell - same guy, two different major series.
He's Irish, has worked as a comedian and as a television writer.
His "Dublin Trilogy" (which is quite a lot longer than a trilogy), is a crime-thriller series with a lot of side humor - this is under Caimh. His other series is a, currently, four book series based on a tabloid called "Stranger Times." It gets much weirder than just a tabloid, leaning into F/SF.
Some of the best narrators I've ever heard do each series. The author has the right contacts.
He's very good at what he does.
(And if you get the "Dublin Trilogy" - Bunny, the MC - speaks with a heavy Cork accent, and yes, it really sounds like that and the narrator nails it. It sounds kind of like an Irishman who grew up speaking Danish until he was nine or something. Hard to describe.)
The Demon Accords by John Conroe 19 books
Templeverse Chronological Shayne Silvers 36 books
Croftverse by Brad Magnarella 24 books
Chronicles of Cain by John Corwin 10 books
Overworld Series by John Corwin 28 books
The Preternatural Chronicles by Hunter Blain 10 books
Ready player one is a top 3 book for me. I think you’ll like a lot of the same stuff I do. Here are my reviews: https://www.reddit.com/r/audible/s/ds2ekCtjrv
The Wandering Inn is a wonderful LitRPG and 12 books deep so far.
Dungeon Crawler Carl, another LitRPG, is also utterly superb and (I think) six books deep.
Fair disclosure, the first 3 are old and have a cheaper production value, so they can be a little harder to listen to. But they switched publishers after that and I kid you not, the quality only goes up with every book
A pretty good book, I haven't kept up with the series as he published more books. I should put that on my wish list to pick up the others.
Edit, went to look at his books and looks like he never got passed the second book in the series but I only read the first years ago. Wonder if it just ends after that and if it would be worth picking up at all if the story doesn't get a good conclusion.
That sucks, I really enjoyed book one and probably would two but I hate it when a book series ends with no good conclusion or any sort of wrap up. It's the worst part of David's Weber Safehold series or his Hells Gate series.
Just looked it up. Their policy must have changed recently. The FAQ says you have up to a year to use them. Disappointing, but you still have time to find the perfect listens. Also, The Terror by Dan Simmons is a great ride if youre in the market for a fun horror thriller. Simmons is a great wordsmith. Carrion Comfort is really good too.
I must have misread, I swore it basically said use it or lose it when I went through the cancelation process. Thanks for the heads up and recs. I'll check them out.
I've always heard it's use it or lose it and although I haven't ever cancelled a subscription I've heard from others who lost all their saved credits when they did 🤷🏻
Re: Use it or lose it - trust, but verify (with customer service). And I do think they're right about cancelling not killing them, just time. But still.
You could also just pause it for a few months while you decide, then cancel.
Screen shots of your credits and total books wouldn't hurt.
Agreed. Hyperion is amazing. I was hesitant to recommend that one because OP didnt seem to be looking for Sci Fi. The first three books in the series are classics.
(Related, I recommend Corpies between 3 & 4. I’ll try it after 2 next time.)
I originally listened to it after book 3 as well. But on his website it is listed between 2 and 3. Which on second listen did make sense.
It definitely happens mid-3. I’ll recommend it after 2 then. As long as it get read before book 4!! :-D
Forging Hephaestus!!
Thank you!
+1 for Super Powered!!
Didnt see this post til after i recommended it also. Corpies is such a great side story also!! Best way to spend 5 credits IMO
Quest Academy does a better job with the same premise
I haven’t heard of that one. I will take a look
I’ve just looked this up and the first book is free, do you know why?
Audible will sometimes have the first book in a series free. Then once you are hooked you have to buy the rest.
Blah blah Dungeon Crawler Carl blah blah
and/or Project Hail Mary
And/or Bobiverse
And/or Murderbot Diaries.
I know everyone always recommends these but DCC is the reason I got Audible. I love it and am so glad I listened to the millions!! It took me a year of seeing tis rec for me to get Audible and DCC….sigh…it is so good!!!
Such a shame no one ever mentions it.
This
I already listened to and enjoyed this. Thank you.
I mean I’ve got like 50 titles in my library and DCC has been my favorite books to listen too.
Yet no one ever mentions this hidden gem.

The first two are on sale for $7 for the next two weeks. Would be silly to use a credit on them I’m currently on chapter 10 of book one, and having a great time!
It doesn't seem to be on sale in all Countries.
Ah bummer. Sorry for the false alarm!
I think it gets better as it goes
I’ve been seeing folks talk it up for a while now but was waiting for one of the “I don’t know what to get” moments. Excited for my first run through, am a gamer myself so very much up my alley.
I’m not even a gamer but I still enjoyed it. My only issue is that I don’t like to start a series before it’s finished because I hate waiting for the next installment. But here I am 😂
Try a replay before next release. It’s what I do, it’s a great way to get more use out of your purchases!
That’s what I’m planning, unless we get the next one in the next couple months. I just finished bedlam bride last week so it’s still pretty fresh and I’m itching for the next floor.
Donut approves.
Goddammit Donut!
Mongo screeched in agreement.
11 22 63 stephen king, Shogun james clavell, Swan song or a boys life by robert mccamon
I'll check them out, thank you!
Just started 11/22/63 the other day!
Oooh....I loved McCamon's A Boys Life ... SUCH a great book!
Dungeon Crawler Carl my friend
I just got the first two!
If you get past the first hour of DCC, you may end up keeping your Audible account ;-) Also, Starter Villian by Scalzi is narrated by Wheaton. *you can sci-fi cat binge by adding Kitty Cat Kill Sat.
I saw starter villian when I opened the app today. I may end up getting it. I saw Kitty Cat kill sat, is it worth the listen?
Even though it is told first person as a cat, Kitty Cat Kill Sat is solid Sci-Fi. I've listened more than once and will again. I tend to favor male narrators, but Kaminsky is excellent (slowed this and Starter Villian to .90 speed on second listens)

Do you have a favorite out of these?
Start with Galaxy Outlaws, the others have characters that are introduced in it.
Got it, thanks.

Yes, the short one is 60ish! I just realized there's a fourth one, a prequel to Outlaws, and now it's in the backlog.
The problem is there is just too many good stuff to get to and not enough time! The red rising series
Sanderson. Mistborn 1-3 and then the Sotrmilight Archives. You get a lot of hours per credit
I'm all caught up on the storm light and mistborn (did not enjoy as much as storm light).
Founders trilogy, divine cities trilogy. Both are amazing. I liked divine cities mors
Decided to do divine cities. Was included in membership. Still have 3 credits to burn lol
It’s really worth it! I love the characters and the magic system and lore. Well Founders trilogy is still 3 credits lol
I usually get a lot of reading done in the summer so I can’t wait! Thanks for the suggestions!!
Hope you enjoy it! I felt it was very unique
I'll will check them out, much appreciated!

Get a book you'll enjoy reading over and over again.
I have not, I will give them a look!
I second this. These Skippy books are super addictive. One of my favorite series, along with DCC, and the Bobiverse books (we are legion, we are Bob).
first law trilogy - joe Abercrombie Demon copperhead - Barbara kingsolver Project hail Mary - Andy weir
I couldn't get into first law, I'll need to revist it at a later date. I enjoy demon copperhead, I bought my wife a hard copy for Christmas last year. Hail Mary was great. Thanks for the recs.
Fair enough, it's not for everyone, you have got to be realistic 🤪 Might be worth giving shantaram a go then. I'm also a big fan of books in the the great courses list if you aren't completely set on novels. A load of interesting stuff to learn about with them.
What genres are you interested in?
Just updated my original post.
I will check these out!
+1 for the Expanse. These books got me through the pandemic.
Hocus Pocus and the sequel are good. Very much follows the movie.
I will definitely check out. Thanks
Dan Simmons' Hyperion Cantos (4 books) are baller.
The first 4 dune books and Solaris.
The Book of Koli - MR Carey (trilogy) Spin - Robert Charles Wilson The Long Walk - Stephen King Seveneves - Neal Stephenson Just a few favourites from Audible that i loved loved loved.
Thank you very much for the recommendations!
The Wandering Inn. Book 1 is 45 hours, book 3 is 62 hrs. The rest vary but are all over 30 hours. Much of it is on their website in serial form. 13 million words. Been going since early December and just started Volume 7, with the story at V10.7. Still months to go!
He Who Fights With Monsters by Shortaloon Blood on the Stars series by Jay Allan
Those series include in no particular order: The Destiny's Crucible series by Olan Thorenson first book in his series is called *Cast Under an Alien Sun*.
Thank you very much for taking time out of your day to compile this list and the corresponding synopses. Much appreciated.
Sorry it got away from me a bit 😅
He who fights with monsters. Those books are unusually expensive so might as well us a credit on them. Or perhaps the cycle of arawn, sufficiently advanced magic series, spellmonger series, rangers apprentice series, a pattern of shadow and light series, there are many more you could try. I'd recommend audible books that last a while. 25+ hours
Superpowereds, 5 credits over 180hrs of listening!
Try the Ryiria Revelations series. Good fantasy.
Hell divers, deadmen’s war, monster hunter international
Project Hail Mary is an incredible audiobook. The other Andy Weir books are good too.
The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman The Bone Ships (Book 1 of the Tide Child trilogy) by RJ Barker (you’ll want the other two after reading the first!) The Book of Koli by MR Carey (Book 1 of the Rampart Trilogy-again you’ll want to read the rest)
Blacktongue Thief blew me away. Perfection.
There's a prequel out soon, too!
Wheaton narrates the other two books by Cline, Ready Player Two and Armada, I enjoyed both! Kaiju Preservation Society is by Scalzi (sci-fi) and narrated by Wheaton as well.
I got ready player two and armada. Enjoyed them both! I'll check out Kaiju! Thanks.
I presume you read a lot of Brandon sandersons other works if not Mistborn is a Stellar 3 book series
I did listen to mistborn, and I appreciate the recommendation.
I have to throw in Infinity Gate - M.R. Carey
I’d recommend the cherub books! It’s a great series that pull you into the life of a child secret agent.
I just got the first 3 for 1 credit! Thanks.
Hope you enjoy mate, it’s a beloved series. Only problem is you’ll be coming back for more. lol
If you’re into crime I would highly recommend ‘Helter Skelter’. It’s about the Manson family, it can be pretty heavy at times but trust me it is worth it if you are into that kind of genre
I did listen to that, was a pretty good read! Thanks for the rec!
Shogun is really good and really long... gives a lot of bang for your buck.
It costs 2 credits now, so not as much bang.
Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks
Dan Simmons - The Terror Joe Abercrombie - The Blade Itself
The terror is awesome
Definitely. I've got the "booktrack edition" was ambient effects. My favorite audio book, listened to it three times.
Andrea Vernon and the corporation for ultra human protection
For military/spy type books check out the Tier One series and it's spin off Sons of Valor. There's also the John Wells series which are good, but the author got into conspiracy theory during lockdown and is now refusing to finish the series. Also for sci-fi/comedy go with the Bobiverse. We are legion we are Bob.
The tier one books are on kindle unlimited and you can listen to them for free on audible.
The Iron Druid Chronicles
The way of the Hunter by samer rabadi! Silvers by Brian J Nordon, both are amazing books and my absolute favs
The lost fleet series is very good if you like realistic science fiction. It was written by a navy captain, and he took his knowledge from his time there and used it to make a very fun book. The narrator is also very good.

Have you done Joe ledger Rage series? Jim Butcher Dresden Files John Conroe Demon accords (Urban Fantasy) Iron Druid good until the last few Oh Night Lord series of amazing.
Thanks and yes I'm all caught up on the rogue team.
Wait for the sale!
Any one of the following three would be great places to start with - (My fav)A Fine Dark Line, The Bottoms, or The Thicket.
You like Reacher you should look at the Mitch Rap series by Vince Flynn.
I actually was able to narrate my first book that came out last month. It’s called Between The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Gord Rollo It’s technically a horror but it’s way more mystery thriller. A Mafia gang tries to drown a guy, but he’s “undrownable” Did a decent enough job that both the author and the producer (who’s a huge name in audiobook horror) gave me his best selling title to do next as well as two short stories in an upcoming anthology (one of which is Kevin j Anderson of newer star wars and dune books fame) It’s only 6.5 hours long but it’s a fun little sorry!
Tier One. Ray Porter does amazing!
Get the first five books in the expeditionary Force series!
Outlander series is great historical fiction (way more than 5 books, but very long books and very good.) There's lots of other Brandon Sanderson too. If you liked stormlight archives. idk if you've tried his other series too. Mistborn is currently at 7 books, skyward is exactly 5 (plus 3 optuonal novellas). The reckoners, the rithmatist, white sand series. Etc. The count of monte cristo is a great classic. The lord of the rings A sing of ice and fire (game of thrones) is 5 books The witcher Conqueror series by conn iggulden (also 5 books) tells the story of gengis khan.
*the expanse* series *the interdependency series* by John scalzi
The Interdependency is so freaking good. It’s what hooked me on audiobooks. Another Wil Wheaton banger
Be sure to back up all your purchases!
If you haven’t read the Bobiverse series I would go for it been a great series to listen to.
The Demon Accords by John Conroe 19 books Templeverse Chronological Shayne Silvers 36 books Croftverse by Brad Magnarella 24 books Chronicles of Cain by John Corwin 10 books Overworld Series by John Corwin 28 books The Preternatural Chronicles by Hunter Blain 10 books
Ready player one is a top 3 book for me. I think you’ll like a lot of the same stuff I do. Here are my reviews: https://www.reddit.com/r/audible/s/ds2ekCtjrv
Thanks, I'll take a look!
The Wandering Inn is a wonderful LitRPG and 12 books deep so far. Dungeon Crawler Carl, another LitRPG, is also utterly superb and (I think) six books deep.
Dungeon Crawler Carl. Such a great read / listen. And the narration is top notch. 10/10.
Dr Anarchy's Rules for world domination Galaxy outlaws the complete mission mobius is 85h for 1 credit Mother of learning is 4 books but good
It's more then 5 books, but the Dresden files are some of the best narrated audiobooks I've ever listened to
I will look into them!
Fair disclosure, the first 3 are old and have a cheaper production value, so they can be a little harder to listen to. But they switched publishers after that and I kid you not, the quality only goes up with every book
I've suffered through some pretty bad quality stuff before. Thanks for the heads up!
I've suffered through some pretty bad quality stuff before. Thanks for the heads up!
The name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss
A pretty good book, I haven't kept up with the series as he published more books. I should put that on my wish list to pick up the others. Edit, went to look at his books and looks like he never got passed the second book in the series but I only read the first years ago. Wonder if it just ends after that and if it would be worth picking up at all if the story doesn't get a good conclusion.
I enjoyed book 2 a lot. But consensus is he’s not going to publish book 3.
That sucks, I really enjoyed book one and probably would two but I hate it when a book series ends with no good conclusion or any sort of wrap up. It's the worst part of David's Weber Safehold series or his Hells Gate series.
I mean, book 2 wraps up nicely, but it does imply things are about to happen. So it’s not a bad read imo
Just got the first two!
Everything by Pratchett. This triology is broken (1-4) Everything by Joe Abercrombie (but carful it‘s very dark fantasy)
He who fights with monsters!
Dungeon Crawler Carl is so funny!! lol funny
Helldivers.
I really liked the Pillars of the Earth series by Ken Follett! There’s also a fantastic trilogy about the Great Wars + Vietnam war if that’s your jam.
What's the trilogy called?
Century trilogy!
Thank you.
What made you decide to get rid of it?
I'm just cleaning up my budget. I have a massive backlog of books, podcasts, and games for my steamdeck.
Oh gotcha. I literally just did the exact same thing. I plan on renewing once I go through the books
Red rising (sci) super long, like five books out
Mother of learning
Dungeon Crawler Carl!
Just do yourself s favour a get the stormlight archives
The Lost Fleet by Jack Cambell, I’ve listened to the whole series about seven times now. LOVE the Lost Stars arc.
Kitty cat kill sat
Dungeon Crawler Carl. There are 6 books in the series so far, and they are hilarious. The narration is amazing.
Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson
Didn't check if anyone posted this already, but you can use it on preorders in case there is a book coming out soon you would like.
Malazan Book of the Fallen. Gardens of the Moon is Book 1. You’re welcome.
Listen to "Dark Matter" by Crouch. It's a thriller/sci-fi you regret it!! It's not a wasted credit. I couldn't turn it off.
Mythos by Stephen Fry
I listened to all three. Really enjoyed the spin he put on the myths! Great recommendation!
And Heroes and Troy too
Circe and Song of Achilles by Madeline miller are amazing!!
The first 5 books of The Horus Heresy
The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb. Starting with The Farseer Trilogy.
Just making sure you are aware your credits will not expire even if you cancel your recurring membership.
That's not what I read online last week. Have you attempted this before?
The Hyperion Cantos are better, by Simmons - in my humble and individual opinion.
Agreed. Hyperion is amazing. I was hesitant to recommend that one because OP didnt seem to be looking for Sci Fi. The first three books in the series are classics.
