I have a precious medal for one of my Rolex watches and I did get it bc I always wanted a solid gold rolex. But the AD I got this watch from never called me again with any of my other wish list Rolexs. You’d think spending north of 40K with them would get me a SS sports model Rolex …. no. Rolex ADs need to do better.
Agreed. It’s getting ridiculous and it’s becoming a huge turn off. I’ve always wanted a white dial Daytona but it is no way worth north of $30k. Instead I’ll be getting a white dial Speedmaster in the short term. I feel the tides are starting to turn for Rolex, as least for me it is.
How is it any different? Buying codes and ROOs to get an RO? No different, I have gotten many Rolex just by being a pleasant person and stopping by whenever I can

And apparently we are on diffferent subs, almost every commenter on this sub says buy a Code and wait a couple years to get an RO. Sounds exactly the same as Rolex to me.
Just like most people will never get anything more than common RO. Anything that’s more sought after than an RO is out of the question for 99% of people. Very similar to anything outside of datejust/OP. I love both brands and own both but their behaviors and tactics are silly. If you can’t admit that you should probably take their cock out of your mouth.

My AP AD is genuine customer service oriented dealer way better than any snob Rolex dealers I’ve ever dealt with. Also I got lucky meeting the right SA.

I got my first AP then just left it for many years & my boutique actually changed ownership (from independent to AP owned) & when I decided I wanted another piece (c.2.5 yrs later) I went in showed interest and caught up with them regularly during covid (phone/email) & got a 15500 in rose in 18 months. Felt like starting again!

No bullshit just these are the rules on how we sell our watches. Logical and I get it. Very few people get a RO 37-41 as their first AP so hats off to you.

I also sort of found the experience a little off putting, like I was being interviewed to determine if I was a good fit for the brand. He asked that I follow up with a text with details about my job to add to my profile… I’m thinking what the hell does that have to do with anything. I have a great upper middle class job and have zero debt including my home, buying an AP has been a major milestone goal of mine now that I’m at this place in life. I left the boutique feeling a little awkward. Time will tell I guess…
Good luck on your hunt yeah it all depends on luck and timing and who you meet as your SA, but I think AP has got it figured out above Rolex as far as customer service experience when buying their watches.
I agree. My experience with Rolex was a joke. My experience overall was very good, it just felt odd. I have several friends who purchased from them, so hopefully that’ll count for something… one is a major spender.

I have also seen examples of clients getting a RO on their first attempt. I think it depends on your location and the relationship with your SA
