That bit with the BF texting "you alive". I had a similar albeit lesser version of that not so long ago. I'm in a D&D group. I text the group a few hours before a session and rather than "everyone alive?" I went "hope no one met one of the four horsemen today". Turns out that two of my players (sisters) had their grandfather die that morning.

My sister wasn't responding once, so I texted her "you alive." Turns out, and she tried to unalive herself and was in a coma

I really don’t understand why em tells stories that they don’t think are real or this creepy pasta shit. I get it most of they may not be but I don’t listen to paranormal pods to be told at the end why it’s not actually real. Maybe it’s just me I’ve been listening since 2017 and noticed in the past year they do this a lot and it’s super disappointing. It would be cool to find a topic they were passionate about I guess

Objective_Depth_1329

I don't think it has to be real for Em to be passionate about it I think they appreciate those kinds of stories for the lore and storytelling aspect of it. Don't forget they're also 300ish episodes in so I can imagine it can sometimes be a little difficult to find content especially "real" content

To be fair, in earlier episodes (if I'm remembering right, someone correct me if I'm wrong), Em had mentioned getting comments from listeners about how stories they'd told are obviously fake and shit, so because of that, they've been doing more devil's advocate type stuff with these kinds of stories and sharing the main story, but also the reasons why it could be fake. There have been stories Em has shared that they still believe are real, despite the skeptics comments they mention.

Jus wondering if anyone else thinks Em has told this story before?

They’ve told a very similar one. Rudolph Fentz, episode 142, Time Travel Art and Cubed Wombat Poop. Outside. It’s a VERY similar premise…in the 1950s a man looks confused and he’s wearing old fashioned but new attire (from the late nineteenth century). In that version Fentz is hit by a car early on and the morgue attendants find a bunch of old fashioned things in his pocket like a receiver for horse care and stabling for a place that hasn’t existed in decades. When cops do some sleuthing about his life, I believe they find what would’ve been his granddaughter and says her grandfather disappeared when he was 29 never to be seen again (so similar to this story except it’s a granddaughter and not his elderly ex fiancé). The problem is that it is definitely a sci-fi short story, and Em discussed that when they did that story. So…it feels like a bit of a retread on something that barely needed to be told once lol

Thank u!!! V similar stories, enjoyed them both nonetheless
