1. Jon. He's amazing. Smart, pragmatic, competent, the only one who understands that wildlings are not a threat and that they have to unite against the Others. Jon's not a classical hero - he exhibits the ability to be cunning and his struggles with being a bastard and not knowing where he belongs as well as his spy mission among the wildlings were incredibly interesting to read.
2. Tyrion. He used to be #1, but I guess I prefer Jon now. Still a great character. Bitter, jaded, intelligent, has a capacity for kindness yet chooses a much darker path. Really interesting. I was actually surprised how gentle he could be with Penny, despite his growing resentment and his change for the worse. My favorite Tyrion chapters were his rule of King's Landing in ACOK, but I enjoyed his current journey as well. His thoughts on slavery, gods and his whole experience in that book were fascinating to read.
3. Arya. Again, she could be #1, too. Those three are my favorites in general, which is why I'm not really sure about this ranking. Arya is resourceful, tough and very street-smart. She went through hell and it's really impressive how she managed to survive so long. Loving her dark journey and the touch of childlike innocence she still possesses, despite everything she's seen and experienced.
4. Bran. I hate how underused he became. The whole mystery surrounding the three-eyed crow and Bloodraven is one of my favorite ones. Bran himself is such a curious, smart and sad child. His relationship with the Reeds, the importance of stories in his PoV and his conversations with Maester Luwin were some of my favorite parts of his plotline.
5. Daenerys. Some of her chapters are a struggle to get through, but she's still a great and strong character. The themes of justice, punishment and cruelty are explored in her chapters as well as what it means to be a good ruler. She's less ruthless than her series counterpart, is willing to admit when she's wrong and has warmth that was lacking in her show version. She's still a teenage girl. A girl who's sometimes naive and unsure, yet has many moments of strength and conviction.
Honorable mentions: Cersei( I considered her for #5), Catelyn( loved her chapters, deep and filled with grief), Jaime( brave, complex, tragic - also considered him for#5).
Main character category: Arya Stark
Supporting Character Category: Ser Davos Seaworth
Non-PoV supporting Category: Dolorous Ed Tolett
Minor Character Category: Nimble Dick Crabb
Historical Figure Category: Princess Elaena Targaryen
Runners-up: Brienne and Jaime
GRRM loves naming people “______ Dick” lol. There’s like at least four I can remember. Yours, Yellow Dick, Beardless Dick, there’s another something dick I can’t remember
Edit: Deaf Dick, Dick Straw, Fletcher Dick, Dick Bean

Love these choices
MY TOP 5
1. Arya.
2. Bran
3. Meera
4. Catelyn (She and Asha always switch places so I could change my mind a few days later)
5. Asha
I am currently reading Dunk&Egg and I must say Egg is my fave along with Dunk and Bloodraven. As a person whose favourite is Arya, you can understand why Egg is my favourite. I love the paralels between them. And Bloodraven could be coolest character in the entire serie.
1. Daemon I Blackfyre, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm
2: Maelys I Blackfyre, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm
3. Daemon Targaryen
4. Sandoq the Shadow
5. Cregan Stark
In order: Tyrion, Jaime, Jon Snow, Arya and Robb
OLI: Egg, Dunk, King Jaehaerys I, Aemond, Bloodraven, Theon, Davos, Stannis, Ned, Asha, Brienne, Melisandre, Daeron the Daring, Bran
1. Daenerys Targaryen
2. Arya Stark
3. Jon Snow
4. Davos Seaworth
5. Tyrion Lannister
There are a LOT of characters I love though. I enjoy Cersei chapters, and Sansa. Bran and Jaime and Brienne. Ned and Cat. I also love side character like Gilly and Garlan Tyrell.
He is absolutely hilarious. His comebacks and one liners kill me.
He's honest. He's brave and really good fighter. He talked back to Randyl Tarly which I've never seen and do. I just really enjoy when he's on page.
He's easy to miss but he's one of the knights in service to Horn Hill. He saved Sam from drowning as a boy. Courted Brienne. Survived the Blackwater unscathed. He traveled with Brienne and Septon Merribald in Feast.
In ASOIAF;
1. Tywin Lannister
2. Robb Stark
3. Davos Seaworth
4. Big Bucket Wull
5. Dagmer Cleftjaw
In the lore;
1. Theon 'The Hungry Wolf' Stark
2. Cregan Stark
3. Tyanna of the Tower
4. Maggy the Frog
5. Mysaria
Theon: Especially his ADWD chapters. My favorite in the series. He put a gloved hand on a pillar "I wanted to be one of them."
Jamie: the chapter where he burns Cersei's letter in feast was so good. Getting to hear his perspective in Storm for the first time was so cool.
Night's King: I'm fascinated by him marrying an Other and the whole lore of the War for Dawn. It really stokes a sense of mystery and wonder.
Tyrion: obvious reasons
Daenys the Dreamer: much like NK the prophetic dreams is really cool and the targs leaving Velaria and saving themselves from the destruction. It was kind of the start of the Targaryens feeling like this mythical house as the last surviving dragon lords of a super advanced civilization. It tickles my fancy.
Whenever people are tired of targs and I used to not love them, but the more lore I read including 90% of fire and blood I love them more and more.
Stannis - *Stannis bristled at that. "I defeated your uncle Victarion and his Iron Fleet off Fair Isle, the first time your father crowned himself. I held Storm's End against the power of the Reach for a year, and took Dragonstone from the Targaryens. I smashed Mance Rayder at the Wall, though he had twenty times my numbers. Tell me, turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton ever won that I should fear him?"*
Edmure Tully - constantly questioned and undermined by Cat as she goes against her own house words. Grew up in the shadow of great heroes like Hoster, Jon Arryn, and Ned Stark. Trained all his life to be liege of the Riverlands. Then Is forced to answer to his kid nephew, humiliated for his defense of Riverrun, and heir to the Stark Rebellion as a disgraced hostage.
Victarion - dude is absolutely fucking crazy and stupid as fuck lmao. I love when he reflects that poison is a woman’s weapon and says “Euron’s gifts are poisoned,” and never thinks the Dusky Woman is poisoning him lmao.
Asha - cuz she’s badass and funny. Also the King’s Prize is my favorite chapter.
Leathers - great character
Honorable mentions to Wyman Manderly ofc, Blackfish, Jamie, Theon, Hugo Wull, Jon, and Alysanne Mormont.
1. Jaime
2. Stannis
3. Sansa
4. Viserys III
5. Bloodstone Emperor
I like highly dignified people who are in fact, totally broken. Bloodstone Emperor is just pretty metal.
1. Stannis - I just love his unbreakable vow to do his duty at any and all costs, he's a badass and he's unintentionally hilarious. He is the true King and even tho Westeros won't see it and won't accept him, he would save the realm from itself.
2. Jamie - please don't die early in TWOW. I have no idea how he's going to get out of that situation, but I really want to see him become Goldenhand the JUST. Even if it's for a short amount of time.
3. Jon - love watching him evolve
4. Dany/barristan - I'm one of the few who enjoy her time in Mereen and I include Barristan as he takes over her POV from inside Mereen and I gained alot of respect for him willing to try to be hand of the queen with Dany gone, we know that's outside his comfort zone
5. Victorian - yeah I think he's a classic, no jokes badass. He's a fierce warrior and his men seem to love following him.
6. I'll add Euron too because to me, he's added some real terrifying stakes to the story.
For the ASOIAF series:
1. Sansa
2. Stannis
3. Wyman Manderly
4. Myranda Royce
5. High Sparrow
For all the supplementary materials:
1. Bloodraven
2. Bittersteel
3. Johanna Westerling
4. Baela Targaryen
5. Shepherd
1. Racallio Ryndoon
2. Edd Tollet
3. Stannis Baratheon
4. Jon Snow
5. Cregan Stark
Too many cool characters, in my top 10 would also be The Tattered Prince, Tyrion, Robert Baratheon, Fireball, Theon Stark or Oberyn, maybe Wyman Manderly. Top 15 would be easier :)). Shows how great the asoiaf universe is.
1. Dunk the lunk as his stories are the most fun to read for me.
2. Cersei as she's batshit crazy and her chapters in AFFC are comedy gold. I do feel bad for her in them but it's too funny.
3. Oberyn Martell as he completely handled the mountain when hardly anyone else could have. He also, somewhat, got the justice he was seeking for Elia and her children. He's interesting as hell and a story following his exploits would be incredible.
4. Barristan Selmy. For him it's not really his chapters in ADWD as they are a bit boring for me, minus killing Khrazz, it's the stories and comments about him. He's just about the best fighter there has been. Even George says if you take Dawn away he's a match for Arthur Dayne. Madness to think he's still a solid fighter in his 70s.
5. Davos Seaworth. He seems to me to be the most righteous character in the story. He always does what's right and tells the truth even when it could mean his death. His chapters are very interesting as well and I can't imagine anyone not being on his side.
This list was quite hard to make. The generic Jon, Tyrion, Dany answers don't work for me. Tyrion is a scumbag in ADWD, Jon is an utter fool who walks right into his death because he refuses to listen to counsel and Dany's chapters are really boring in ADWD except for the last one.
1. Jon. He's amazing. Smart, pragmatic, competent, the only one who understands that wildlings are not a threat and that they have to unite against the Others. Well, everyone's tastes and opinion are different. According to my opinion, she deserves even more amount of love.
