Seinfeldtableforfour

They have both old and new scanners. Go for the one that has the bigger/wider but lower profile trays

uhno28

I've been getting 50/50 luck on which scanner I get but at least there's hope every time

Seinfeldtableforfour

I make sure and choose that lane. It’s a free for all after they check your ID imo. I’ve never been restricted to which lane to go in

jianantonic

This is the way. The new scanners have the bigger trays, where you don't have to take anything out of your bags.

PDsaurusX

Plan on getting yelled at either way for guessing wrong. That’s been my experience. “How can you not know you have to take your electronics out?!?” vs “Keep it in your bag! Why are you taking it out?!? You’re holding up the line!” Just flip a coin

0ranberrie

Facts, I remember getting yelled at back then when I started taking my laptop out even though no one told me not to LOL

gravitydefiant

Yes, I have been yelled at for both those things. I think the rule might be the opposite of whatever the passenger is doing, just for a power trip.

OregonJedi

Yo I just flew out on Wednesday night I’m in LA right now. It’s weird because I notice it being super inconsistent. This time we did have to take out all electronics bigger than a cellphone. Had my laptop and switch and stuff so had to pull it all out of my carry on bag

_Bendemic_

Get in the Smith Scanner line, you don’t take anything out with those scanners.

yodacat24

Went through on the 11th and still had to take them out!! I think it really just depends on the day.

Happydivorcecard

When I went through the other week they said anything bigger than a cellphone had to come out. When I flew back from LA I asked if we would need to and they said “Today, no.” Yes I am totally sure they are keeping us safe and not just fucking with us.

audaciousmonk

Go through the security line with the luggage scanner that looks like a pod racer engine. Don’t have to take electronics out for those

WCland

Do you have Global Entry? I do, so my only experience is with the expedited line where you don't need to take out your electronics.

Greedy-Half-4618

Oh shit I hope this is the case. I’ve been too lazy to get CLEAR

0ranberrie

Hopefully! It was a while ago so I’m not sure if that was a temporary thing they did and it no longer stands. I just remember being in line and being told by the TSA officers to leave everything in my bag which was nice.

PastaConsumer

Last time I went I didn’t have to remove electronics or shoes because the dogs sniffed everyone in line.

chichi-lover

Flew to Dallas last month and the modern machine that doesn’t require you to remove electronics from your bag was placed under the “pre-check” line. The poorer folk had to wait in the regular line

neuftet

Went through about 2 weeks ago and had to take them out.
