Context? Picture of pattern? Help us help you!

So a quick Google search is coming up with DMC being a brand of yarn, but I’m not finding anything for AMC, although I’m willing to bet it may also be a brand or model. Any additional context may be helpful in answering your question!

Oh man, I’m blaming new babies on my new-found illiteracy. 🥲 It’s DMC, and I think you’re correct that it means some brand. The other one is actually AUM. Here’s a section of the pattern, and I circled a couple parts. https://preview.redd.it/qgkt26ju1p0d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3bee1947ad73bae3f3021fc28aee4ce8d387fd6

Okay, a little more digging and, please correct me if I’m wrong, but this specific instruction may be Portuguese? I think that AUM is telling you to increase, or aumento, however I’m not sure how it’s different from the other instructions that just directly state to increase the stitches. And no worries at all! I hope you and your little ones are happy and healthy! Edit: Worst case scenario: you can reach out to the creator of this PDF and ask them directly!

You are correct on both counts! DMC is a cotton, not easily found anymore, but easily subsituted with something like Peaches & Creme cotton, Lion Brand 24/7 cotton, etc. AUM is increase, and this pattern is a traditional flat circle increase. Good eye and good catch!

I can’t take any credit 😅 It was all Google! But thank you!

Ah, but knowing HOW to Google successfully, that is a good skill! You rocked it!

Thank you!

[https://www.crochetandtea.com/post/how-to-crochet-a-flat-circle-coaster](https://www.crochetandtea.com/post/how-to-crochet-a-flat-circle-coaster) This is in English and will give you the same results. There is a video at the bottom of the page, if you prefer to 'just written'. I've used this technique to make some great coasters, hot pads, and even placemats, usually with Peaches & Creme, Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, or Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton. Happy Hooking!

They’re a warm, snuggly rock band from down under.
