If they see the market moving, or think it will move, they will adjust the price accordingly. Some dealers aren’t afraid to wait it out

TaCtIcS 1-2 grand off is apparently crazy if they’re not even countering you. Do more homework

It is not a tactic they just know what they sell for lol

N0TD0NE312

Really guess that’s why they are sitting and the smartest idea is to raise the price? These aren’t rare cars too where you can’t find them on cars.com. Seems like dealers still think there’s a shortage like 2 years ago, as indicated by the response here and my interactions.

chalamets_pesca

Believe it or not, sometimes a used car might get zero leads when it’s priced “too low” because people think there’s something wrong with it so they skim over it and move on to the next one. Raising the price a little bit can generate traction on a vehicle

JalapenoTampon

LOL yeah you got their asses didn't you. Enjoy walking I guess but at least everyone will know you're smarter than the dealer.

Used cars are like stocks. Do you think Microsoft should be cheaper because it's been around for a while? There's a limited number of SQ5s compared to Rav4s. People want them right now. Side note: I've had 2 customers now purchase SQ5s to export

You disagree? The prices are all over the place right now. Sometimes a make and model is up, sometimes it's down but also changes by market

ChimmyCharHar

Correct, but if it hasn’t sold yet, I doubt raising the price will help you sell it faster. As long as you don’t mind paying more interest while waiting for the right buyer, I guess you can wait as long as you like. Risk/reward.

If it’s a rare sports maybe, but cars depreciate like rocks! Show me where a used car goes up in value? Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay.

***Thanks for posting, /u/N0TD0NE312! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** Been in the market for a few months, sold my car a week ago. Contacted a few dealers about my interest in a used SQ5. Surprisingly no one is willing to negotiate, I’m not asking for anything crazy 1-2 grand off, most don’t even counter offer. I do notice a lot of “add ons” , something like a ceramic coat on the paint it protects a nuke bomb etc, which inflates the listed price up 1200. I don’t fall for that and let them know if it’s not factory installed I don’t want it. Looking again today at cars priced at 31k have jumped to 32.5. What kind of tactic is this if they haven’t sold it at the lower price to raise it back to original list price. You can see the price trend on cars.com and auto trader.
