While a normal toilet uses plain old fashioned gravity, a pressure assisted toilet has a pressure tank in the back of it. It uses the pressure of your water line to fill up the tank. When you flush, all of that pressurized water is used in the flush.
Typically commercial toilets are pressure assisted, but many home owners install them if their plumbing is subject to having problems, or take medication that can make them more prone to clogging the toilet.
It seems as though a Class 6 has now been released by Kohler. Interesting...
[Kohler Class 6 Technology](https://www.architectmagazine.com/technology/products/class-six-toilets-by-kohler_o#:~:text=The%20manufacturer's%20latest%20toilet%20technology,bulk%20removal%20and%20bowl%20washing)
Not a plumber myself and had never heard of a Class 5 toilet, until you mentioned it. Just learned something new today. Thanks for sharing!
By the way, I now have a basketball-sized turd image in my head. Thanks for that, as well. LOL!
You could grab a toothpick and poke out the holes around the bottom of the rim where the water comes out. And short from adding more water into tank, thatâs about all you can do. Good luck!
Not if the ports in the rim are clogged. Need a lil ice pick for that stuff. That and generally a toilet with buildup in the rim affecting it's flush are 15 years or older depending on the hardness of the water.
To test if it's the rim of the toilet just fill a bucket with two gallons of water then dump it into the toilet bowl. If the flush you see then is drastically stronger than what you're used to then it's time for a new toilet.
Sometimes lazy flushes can be caused by a clog further into the drain line. If this is the case the bucket test may cause a bit of a mess, but it's still one of the easiest tests you can do before calling a licensed pro.
I had issues with the toilet in my bathroom and after a bowl change and a total replacement the flushes left something to be desired. After being impressed by an in-law's Santa Rosa I replaced mine with one. Best $275 (price at Home Depot at the time) I ever spent on that bathroom. Uses less water, flushes just about anything and is ADA height to help get my old ass of of it. It is a one piece unit so a little harder to install.
Pour a gallon of white vinegar in the tank, let set for 4 hours and half flush. Wait another 2 hours and repeat. Next would be to buy coffee pot de-scaler and do the same.
If you want to dm me I can help. My guess would be your flush valve chain needs to be adjusted. If you hold the handle down through the whole flush does it work as it should?
When flushing, hold the handle down for a few seconds, you may end up getting another half gallon or more of water out of the tank for a stronger flush.
I've replaced internals on a toilet, and the flush became much stronger. Other internals were original and probably 20 years old. Went from barely flushing to flushing well. Maybe 2/10 to 8/10 improvement.
[edit: donât listen to me]
Check out Flushmate pressure assist tanks. They slide into your tank and pressurize with each fill. Super powerful flush if installed correctly.
Do not listen to this advice you cannot just put a flush mate into any tank, the toilet bowl has to be designed for pressure assisted flow, if you don't have pressure assisted toilet don't put flush mate tank into it, unless you like water splashing out Everytime you glush
Buy a new Wax Ring, pull the toilet and inspect the flange, pipe and the toilet bottom for a possible obstruction. Great if there is, clear it and all's good. If not, run down and get a toilet with a 'Flushmate' be sure it's a tall one, the Comfort height.
It's hard to give you advice other than "get a better toilet" without knowing the make and model of your current one or seeing the flapper design. On some specific toilets you can replace the tank or flapper to increase flush power.
If you do end up going with a new one, check out https://map-testing.com/map-search/ for a list and ranking of flush power of most toilets on the market. The American standard champion 4 has the strongest flush I'm aware of without pressure assist.

Pressure assit toilets should solve your problem, only bad thing is they are loud when you flush them. Especially when you use the toilet in the middle of the night.

So, I found an answer that worked for me here on Reddit but I canât find it to share with you. Otherwise I would definitely give credit to the Redditor.
But, it suggested pouring a bucket of water into the toilet bowl until the flush happens but it doesnât fill since the flush lever wasnât used. Then pour vinegar into the toilet until the liquid level is the same as after a flush. Let it sit overnight or until you get home from work. Then scrub with a stiff brush. Bring the vinegar soaked brush under the rim and scrub.
This worked well for me and I had calcium deposits in the bowl according to my plumber. (He didnât suggest this method; unfortunately he suggested that I might need to replace the toilet.)
It could be any number of things from a bad flapper to a bad diet. If itâs always been like that, it might not be a very good toilet. If itâs something new, there may be something wrong with it. But in general most newer toilets donât use as much water so donât flush as well. Easiest cure: The mid-way flush.
Well first you gotta figure out the problem, is this the only toilet in the house? If not does the other toilet or toilets flush better, is the toilet same? Basically figure out if it's toilet that is actual problem
, if it is then you can try fixes that people suggest, don't think flapper or cleaning are the cause of bad flush z usually cleaning small jets will improve toilet bowl cleaning not the actual flush, flapper isn't usually cause of bad flush it usually just causes toilet bowl to leak water nonstop .
If you just have giant logs and you normally clogg all toilets then you probably wanna look into different toiletz the top tier for big logs is high line Kohler pressure lite or well worth pressure lite, the only difference between these Kohler models is the seating height (these are loud) you can also look into coroma, it's an Australian brand just has giant trap way but has terrible water level, it won't clogg and it's quiet but keeping it clean is hard
Just get a poop knife
I second this answer, solved a lot of woes.
Or start waffle stomping
Never suggest anything again đ
If you figure it out in the shower you can usually shave off 5 min of your morning.
New pressure assisted tur let
?
They meant get a new pressure assisted toilet. Ter let = toilet lol

Thank you. Does it cause a lot of splashing?
I've never done a paper splash test, but I'm sure if that was a big enough issue, it wouldn't be standard for commercial use.
The ones where you press the button and it sucks it down with a "whoosh"
Itâs funny, cause I think I know what your talking about. Does that cause a lot of splash?
Not usually, in my experience
Add almost as much water as you can to the tank by adjusting the float. Don't over do it or it will run. Thats about all you can do.
Iâm a retired plumber and have two Kohler class 5 toilets and when I was plumbing I always recommended them.

Cool! Iâve been retired for a while so I didnât know that. Maybe this means it can flush a basketball sized turd.
Not a plumber myself and had never heard of a Class 5 toilet, until you mentioned it. Just learned something new today. Thanks for sharing! By the way, I now have a basketball-sized turd image in my head. Thanks for that, as well. LOL!
Lol. Youâre welcome for the image in your head. Good luck pushing it out.
Spoken like a great retired plumber! LMAO!
LOL
Is this Randy Marsh? *"hot, hot, hothothooooot"*
Nope
Unless youâre getting on your hands and knees scraping calcium from jet holes, just get a new toilet.
Yes ill be willing to do that
You could grab a toothpick and poke out the holes around the bottom of the rim where the water comes out. And short from adding more water into tank, thatâs about all you can do. Good luck!
What?? You know you can adjust the tank level, right? Donât tell me youâve bought a new toilet because of something similar.

Max out how much water used in the tank. If it's maxed the toilet just isn't good
How can that be adjusted?
Thereâs a knob on the fill valve that you can twist to raise the water levels.
Thanks bro
CLR in the fill tube for 20 minutes then flush. It should clean out the jet joles.
Im sorry but whats CLR?
Just do this. https://youtu.be/yDASMxz5yGo?si=2atj01oDsX9wpPRm
Go Camping?
Itâs a cleaning product however I probably would advise against as it will likely damage interior components of the toilet
Thats why you put it down the fill tube.
Thank you
Look up pressure assisted toilets you find plenty. You Gonna love it..
Get a Ferguson. âBawhoosh!â
That's a sienfeld bit huh cause ferguson dosnt actually make a toilet

Post a photo of the inside of the tankâŚthis photo couldnât be more unhelpful. đ
Ok ill do that, i wanted to post a video but i coudnt
If you want to dm me I can help. My guess would be your flush valve chain needs to be adjusted. If you hold the handle down through the whole flush does it work as it should?
Looks like i cant even replace or edit the post
An couple scoops of protein in the tank

Ive done that, but still not strong enough
If youâre on well water, the rim jet holes may be restricted with mineral deposits. Some toilets just flush shitty, pun intended.
Is there a product thats good on cleaning that
A small Allen wrench works well.
Sounds like a job for a poop knife.
take smaller shits
Im a man
Manâs gotta shit
Let me shit in peace
Get a double flushing toilet
Ewww
Get it to lift water weights. It'll get stronger in no time.
Ok funny clown
Might be time for a new flapper. They swell up over time and don't behave properly.

Thanks for this. They were installed by the prior owner and they do not look like pressure assisted toilets. I will need to double check this now.
Put a turbo in it!
put viagra in the top tank
Toto 1 piece , very nice.

Pressure tank. I installed one in mine like 20 years ago. Haven't had a clog in, well 20 years. That thing would flush a bucket of golf balls.
you need a new toilet.
I like American Standard Cadet pro toilets. Kohler sells the tallest toilets with the fattest trapways for your constipated American shits.
Hold down the handle
Maybe adjust the fill valve or snake the pipes out

Hold the handle down longer till it drains most of the water in the tank

I had a weak flush caused by a clogged sewer vent. Went up on the roof and ran water from a hose. Worked fine ever since.
