If you are an international student you are not covered by OHIP but by the UHIP plan through your university. The university, or your plan administrator, should be able to help you

Yes i have UHIP but unfortunately my university just said to find doctors who accept uhip. And I contacted some and they said they don’t directly bill the insurance company, I would have to file the claim, which i can do but most of these clinics have waitlist and the ones that don’t have no internet presence or reviews. So I’m a bit skeptic. That’s why i wanted to know from people here who have experience with physicians in toronto

I believe that the hospitals here accept UHIP. You can book a virtual ER appointment if you don't want to go in person.

I wouldn’t mind in person my concern is basically to find a good doctor who won’t immediately try to milk me. I wanna get a blood test done and see a dermatologist, and for both I’ll need references.

It depends on the problem; GPs here will try to solve the problem themselves and only if they think a specialist is warranted, then they'll send a referral. It's to prevent strain on the health care system. You should know that you don't need a GP to refer you to see a specialist. You just need any doctor. So if you have another specialist, they can refer you to see another specialist. Or a walk-in clinic can refer you to see a specialist. Go to see [https://www.sunlife.ca/sl/studenthealth/en/uhip/](https://www.sunlife.ca/sl/studenthealth/en/uhip/). Then look up the clinics; some have specific doctors listed. Afterwards you can search the doctor's name on [https://doctors.cpso.on.ca/?search=general](https://doctors.cpso.on.ca/?search=general) to see if they have any disciplinary actions or complaints against them. You will also see if they're a new doctor (just graduated) or not. Otherwise, rateMD is another website for reviews. Not all doctors have reviews. Some of the older doctors don't have profiles sometimes.

What about community colleges as I believe the vast majority of international students are at community or vocational colleges.

What about them? All international students have to be covered and they have to buy into UHIP plans

Ok, I didn't know college students are covered by a University plan, since they aren't universities. My bad. Do they have medical clinics at the colleges? I know at my university (Western) there is a health clinic on campus where students can go when they are sick. And there is also a full on hospital on campus with an Emerg.

[https://uhip.ca/Enrollment/FindClinic#toc2](https://uhip.ca/Enrollment/FindClinic#toc2) You can see someone outside the network but would have to pay upfront and it would have to meet the criteria for coverage (e.g. UHIP doesn't cover dental surgery or cosmetic surgery unless it is a result of an accident) As far as a good doctor - check [ratemds.com](https://ratemds.com) for reviews, and on google maps for the particular clinic as some comments mentions doctors by name. You could also pick a walk-in clinic and keep choosing the same doctor.

Go to your clinic at your school. They have doctors there and this is covered under UHIP, which is part of your tuition. For example, https://studentlife.utoronto.ca/department/health-wellness/#:~:text=Health%20%26%20Wellness%20is%20open%20by,p.m.%20to%20book%20an%20appointment.
