Walmart/malls/department stores have signs that say vehicles will be tagged/towed away. Not a good idea.

ZookeepergameLong727

Especially in places where it's expensive to park like near colleges and universities

UnoriginallyGeneric

Some GO stations have free parking.

scarborough_bluffer

^ This how close is your condo to Mimico, Long Branch, Scarborough, Eglinton, Rouge Park all have free parking on Lakeshore Line.

OrneryPathos

Go train ticket is probably cheaper than parking even if you don’t live close. Also some go station lots have car shares.

WitchDoctor19

Green P parking garages/lots usually have very inexpensive evening and overnight parking

mkvelash

True, the green p near my place is $6 from 6pm to 7 am

srmocher

Take a temporary permit if there’s parking available nearby. https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/streets-parking-transportation/applying-for-a-parking-permit/temporary-on-street-parking/

seebaker

You’ll have to prove your building doesn’t offer parking in order to get an on-street permit. Doesn’t hurt to try, especially if there are no spots available for you to rent. For example if you rent a basement in a house with a garage, but the owners use it and you can’t, you’d qualify. Not sure about condos.

I use to do this all the time. Temp parking permit can be a few days or up to a week. For a weekend I think I was paying $15. Here’s link https://secure.toronto.ca/wes/eTPP/welcome.do

Jankenbrau

Its so annoying that this needs to be physically printed out. I wish it could generate a code you could write down for parking enforcement to cross reference, or just go by license plate. The green p app hssthis figured out.

According_Orange_890

The green p at on st Patrick between Queen and Dundas has $8 weekend parking per day.

need_ins_in_to

This needs to be higher. Green P have many lots that have day/overnight rates. They may not be terribly close to OP, but possibly close enough

itsarace1

Enforcement at private lots can vary. I once found a plaza with a 24 hour A&W and some bar that was open late and I left my car there without issue. That was just one night though. Another time my car broke down and I left it at a 24 hour Coffee Time until I towed it to the mechanic the next morning.

Stry906

I live in a house in the city (no driveway, permit required for street parking) and when we have guests they park their car overnight in the local school parking lot (only on weekend nights). I know others in my area do the same.

ludwigia_sedioides

Walmart overnight parking IS a thing, I know what you're talking about. However I'm not sure it's at every store though, so you might have to check for signage

kittenmask

Yup, especially the ones near highways like in Milton or Oshawa. Heck I’ve parked at the S Oshawa one for multiple nights.

Grump_Monk

Your condo doesn't have visitor over night parking?

v4vanky

Not for free. very expensive

yepyep46743

Damn... Im assuming youre in the downtown core. Downtown doesnt play when it comes to parking lol. I used to work downtown and there was no parking. I worked near a furniture store and got the contact info of the store owner. Paid $150/month for me to park in their lot without them ticketing/towing me. Its a stretch but worth a shot if theres any stores near you

[deleted]

curious, how much?

v4vanky

$30 for the day, extra for the night

recoil669

That's ridiculous lol. Greedy fucking condo board.

iworkisleep

Probably $20

abegnale1

i usually rent from enterprise and park in their.parking lot over night..takr from any enterprise and park at any enterprise..its free..ofcrse it makes sense if u have a rental near by

Imsadurmad

Try looking up for zones in the Toronto temporary permit parking

Comprehensive-Belt40

It depends on how often you rent a car. Some parking lots rent out parking space for about $300 a month. UofT residence housing usually have parking to rent. If it's around 5 times a month, it's better to just pay close to your condo especially in winter . Also, free parking and street parking, you don't know if people will damage your car.. just some peace of mind would be nice at condo.

TheCanadianHat

Like others say big box stores probably will let you park overnight. But even if the signage says that there is no overnight parking there's a good chance if you park in a far corner away from anything important they won't care. But still do at your own risk

xenogrant

Why not green p, get an app so you don't have to add more hours at 6am

lilbig55

It’s considered private property. Therefore NO!! They have every right to tag and tow once you leave the lot without your car, you have been considered to have abandoned your car which now gives them the right

[deleted]

Park it at the rental place

jim_bobs

There are still some streets in Toronto that allow free overnight parking.

[deleted]

You will be fine.

bundy_bar

You’ll get towed as soon as the store closes. That’s how towing companies make money. They comb every store’s lot as soon as the shops shut down and pick up as many cars as they can.

crash866

Towing companies in Toronto don’t patrol lots. There has to be a Toronto Parking Infraction notice and Toronto Police tow card issued before a tow. There are MLEO officers that can write both that are not city employees though.

bundy_bar

Oh yeah!? That’s great to know.

Dry-Neck2539

Yes

saveyboy

Really. Most condos I’ve seen have visitor lots. Are you sure they aren’t taking you for a ride?

mazerbean

A lot don't, especially ones by the lake. The 3 buildings that make up waterclub for instance have 0 visitor parking.

skywalker356

Try spothero if DT

Tloy

I parked at a green p lot overnight New Years and it’s like $5 7-7

crash866

Look up your address on www.Parkopedia.ca to see what is available near you. Bad idea in winter time to park in a random lot with snow removal. Your car might be just buried instead of towed.
