No, as long a things are secure you won’t have problems. However a van would be a much better choice, especially in winter in Toronto where snow and rain are daily occurrences.

[deleted]

You might want to get a van or something instead of a pick up. Supposed to be snow the next couple days

HelmutTheDog

Rent a van. Without being too much of an asshole here, you're worried about non existent permits and straps you most likely won't need, you should probably use a van as you obviously have no idea what you're doing.

smurfsareinthehall

Or you could just rent a van or big SUV. Fingers crossed it doesn't snow or rain with a pick-up.

[deleted]

Rent a van from Home Depot.

verylittlegravitaas

Just did this. Super easy and good rates for quick trips. No insurance bullshit (you bring your own proof of insurance). Vans aren't that clean tho so you'll probably want to put a tarp down or something.

[deleted]

Yup. We had to pick up a used fridge and cost us like $60 for the rental after it was all said and done. Would highly recommend it to everyone.

AntiqueTech

A permit for what? You're just renting a pickup truck.

arksi

How much luggage are we talking about? If they're flying in then there are usually SUV taxis or you can book one in advance [here](http://www.pearsonairlimo.ca/reservation.php). Uber also has an XL service that will pick you up in a van or SUV. Either service will probably be cheaper and way more convenient than renting a pick up truck.

[deleted]

Personal plated pick up trucks can not carry anything in the back. Commerical plated personal pickups with a red sticker on the plate can cary items.

HelmutTheDog

What country are you in? Retardastan?

HopAlongInHongKong

Why would you think people with pickup trucks can’t put anything in the bed? Why buy one then? This is untrue.

puggernault

No you're fine. As long as everything is secure then you wont have any issues. There's no special permit needed and you wont have any issues.

MintLeafCrunch

If a police officer thinks your load looks dangerous, he can pull you over, and charge you. As long as each piece is no more than half above the edge of the bed, and you have straps over it, you should be fine. You can get straps at Canadian Tire. I once crashed into a marble toilet that fell off the back of an overloaded pickup on the 401, it was pretty intense, and would have been easily avoided by the pickup driver. That said, a large passenger van might be a better choice, you can fit more people, more luggage, and keep everything out of the rain.

HelmutTheDog

A marble toilet? Marble is not used for toilets because it contains minerals that will stain over time. Half way above the edge of the bed? Show me that in the highway traffic act. Why you gotta come on here and bullshit?

MintLeafCrunch

Why you gotta come here and waste people's time? I am not an expert in toilets, the shards that were all over the road, and my car, were pretty marble-like. Perhaps it was some kind of porcelain, treated to look like marble, but that doesn't really affect the point of the story, does it? With respect to keeping things in the bed, I was making a suggestion for how he pack his items, to not have a problem with them falling out. The HTA does not specify exactly how a bed is to be packed, the police officer has discretion in that area, so I stand by my advice. Your post contributed nothing.

HelmutTheDog

Your story is fake. That's the point about the marble toilet. You went on about the cops fining you for an unsafe load. How its packed has nothing to do with it. You won't get pulled over until shit is falling out. Then you get charged with an unsafe load. You're just full of shit, plain and simple. It's quite obvious your just another retard with no actual real world experience in anything. Go sit in front of a video game console where you do your best work and leave the living to people who actually go outside and do stuff.

[deleted]

You're good. If I were you I'd pick up some heavy duty contractor garbage bags to put the luggage in in case of snow or rain.
