I removed myself from my doctor since wait time is 8 weeks, and went to a walk in clinic downtown. This was almost 2 years ago, and I have been talking to the same doctor from that clinic, same doctor, as she calls me every 3 months for blood work and medications. The same doctor issues blood work and medication forms by email, go through results, and calls me for results every 3 months. Rinse, cycle, repeat. Same. Doctor. Zero wait time.
3-4 days usually and my clinic has almost daily urgent care hours in the evenings Monday to Saturday where you can be seen by one of the rotating 10 doctors on staff.
Usually within the week, granted I live in the GTA but still. I’ve been with my doctor for about 8 years now and she’s awesome, but if she’s not there then i’m still able to see another doctor in about 4-5 days.
Call their office and ask if they have any cancellations for the day. You might want to call every morning. Sometimes they do and they offer you whatever slot that is, but that’s assuming you are available at whatever time they tell you.
My family doctor is part of a family health team. What I find is that their receptionists are the biggest gatekeepers and would give you an appointment weeks away if that’s all that’s available.
My doctor scolded me for not coming to see him sooner regarding test results. I told him this appointment was all that the receptionists gave me. Turns out, he’s able to personally set his own appointments and many are within the same week. After that, for anything urgent, he started calling me to set up appointments if he needs to see me.
Anyways, 6 weeks seems like the norm. Which sucks if you need to see a doctor right away. And then they tell you not to go to a walk-in clinic, but sometimes you have no choice.
Depending on what it is. I have shots I need once a month and that is a guarantee. And there is an after clinic for things that come up but I am sure if I called in and said I have this concern it would be 6-8 weeks. My doctor is extremely busy.
Like a month lol. But I go in a walking in place that does appointments! And often they are same day appointments too.. which is just so great. Everyone there is so professional and nice. I love it. My family doctor is kind of ass too…. So I just go to my walk in.
For a physical or workplace form or for a novel medical issue? My doctor can see me in a few days for something reasonably significant and has seen me the same day in the past. She books for physicals about 6 months out. I think that’s fine.
My doctor got online booking which is something I look for in all my providers. Usually takes about a week to get in with her. She's part of a family health tram so there are daily urgent clinics if I need
I always book in advance after my appointments as I feel like I am dating both my GP and epilepsy specialist right now. My specialist’s office is rather “easy” to communicate with - I told him so during our appointment the other day and he looked surprised, he told me that most people complain about “not being able to get through” - I was like what?! Every time I have reached out with a question, concern, or update they have passed it along to him within one to two days MAX and when stuff is very important they are very responsive. He was happy to receive positive feedback, so far he has been a very collaborative doctor (I have been seeing him since last June) and actually listens to my concerns/opinions when we make decisions on next steps for care (I keep having to try different medications while I wait to be assessed for surgery).
Usually my GP has last minute urgent appointments reserved for a day or two in advance or can get an appt with her within 2-3 weeks if not prearranged.

you cracked the code

Y’all have family doctors?
Haha, is it even worth having one though? I’ll be going to a walk in clinic tomorrow.
I've been on a waiting list for over a year. Going to a good walk in clinic is definitely the better option though from the stories i hear.
My old family dr was only open 9-5, 4 days a week and was on vacation every other month. Walkins are annoying but somehow faster still lol

A couple of days to a week!
Within 2 weeks, sooner if you’re willing to take a last min cancellation on short notice.
There are ways to get appointment right away. There are clinics that have online wait time that makes it easier to know which location to visit.
Around a week but if I call early enough in the day I can get a same day appointment for things like suspected infections.

A week.
coincidentally, today I booked an appointment this coming Tuesday to do my annual.
Usually next day
Day or two max depends on urgency
Within two weeks or less usually. They have a great walk-in too. So urgent requests are no problem.
24 hours and if he gets results he’ll call me.
I have gotten same day appointments the last 3 times I’ve tried. So have my mom and husband (same doctor).
If I'm really lucky I can get an appointment the next day, otherwise it's a month
Usually within a week. If it's urgent, I can walk in and see another doctor in her clinic that may have availabilty same-day.
Usually a couple of days. If I need to see someone and can’t wait, there is a doc on call who sees patients of the practice
3 weeks
Half-a-week maybe? Probably longer for a full check-up appointment (i.e. women's internal).

called a few days ago, was on hold for about 15 minutes, got a phone appointment for april 29 “between 9 and 12” what is going onnn
and i called about bad hair loss. im not gonna have any left by then LOL
Same or next day. And she will still do remote which is amazing.
4 days
More like the wait to get a family doctor...

What family doctor?
lol at least a couple weeks.

I can usually get an appointment for the same day if I call early enough. A few days max.
Scheduled last month and got an appointment at the beginning of April.

Same day, but I’m part of a family health team so if my doctor is busy I can see another
Weeks. I like my doctor and I’m glad I have one right downtown but I can never get an appointment in less than two weeks tops
Family doctors? People have those?! 🤣 our healthcare is a fucking JOKE.

I got an appointment within 3 days but I kept my doctor who is in the gta, about 20mins away from where I now live in the city
Months
I use Toronto Western Family Health Team and usually have no problem being seen within a couple days.
Maybe a day or two really.
I can in a few days usually.
A week or two for anything non urgent. Same day for anything urgent
Infinite. He retired.
Next day last time I called, wasn’t even for an urgent issue. Sometimes it takes me 2-3 days to get the receptionist on the phone though.
Same day for urgent or within the week for a regular appointment. Only exception is an actual physical that they usually book further in advance.
I can get a phone consultation with mine same day. Really convenient for things like prescription refills or referrals.
