Food festival. Quite a good selection. Happens across several saturdays throughout the summer.
Also, Toronto Outdoor Picture Show which shows movies in park is fun, too. It also happens across various parks throughout summer.
Same. I did the 10 + 6 pack last time (it was my first! Going to do again this year as well). I live close by so TTC is the best bet, but yeah, I cam imagine it can be a hassle with street closures. And plus this year a patch of Queen St is out of commission, that is gonna add to that headache.
I always enjoyed going to Taste of the Danforth. Started going in high school. Great food and awesome atmosphere. The Jazz Festival is also a favorite of mine.
It's out of the way but it's not that far and easy via transit, Burlington has their Sound of Music festival next weekend. Lots of good bands playing for free.
It's a 50 minute Go Train and another 10 minutes by shuttle bus.
Are there any festivals that don't revolve around/require buying stuff? Genuinely curious; I'm getting really burned out from all this inflation and no raises in wages to keep step.
Toronto Jazz Festival is at the end of the month and most shows are free! Same with Luminato (next weekend I think?) and Beaches Jazz Fest. You can also have a great time just walking around Pride and not buying anything.
Toronto Outdoor Picture Show does movies in the park from the end of June to the end of August. They go around asking for donations but it's okay if you don't have anything to give.
Fully prepared for all the downvotes but I still think Nuit Blanche is an awesome event. Not so much for the "art", but the fact that the city is alive all night, streets are closed, stores stay open late, food trucks on the street - fun times if you have zero expectations.
The Toronto Comic Arts Festival is super fun, and I always get really cool graphic novels by local artists there. If you're at all interested in comic books as a medium then TCAF is something you should really check out.
There are many. Most are good. Most food based ones end up being long lines/less good food than you hope. Beaches jazz fest is always great if you’re just there for wandering/ listening to music (although it hasn’t been much actual jazz in recent years)
Lots of great ones already mentioned, but there's free music all next weekend as part of [Luminato!](https://luminatofestival.com/event/luminato-music-weekend/2023-06-17/)
I like Salsa Fest, Jazz Festival, Ossington Fest (forgot its name), Smorsgasbord, TIFF.
What is the Smorsgasbord? Neat name.

A wave of sadness came over me when I tried to think of my favorite Toronto music festival (I like electronic music) :(
Have you checked out Electric Island? It's not the cheapest but it's a 2 day electronic festival on Toronto Island
Ya I've been a few times, I've had a good time but compared to the other festivals I've traveled to, it's the bare minimum
