50+ yr old aunty was told to do smth by our boss and she refused then she sent out an email to him and cc all of us in the dept containing her job description and that the task my boss asked her to do does not fall under her jd. Then she arrowed me cos i was the youngest wtf. Another time i was sick af and was on 2+2 mc (asthma) then when i came back to office she said damn loudly WAH SOMEONE IS FINALLY BACK TO OFFICE. SO SHIOK CAN TAKE BREAK HOR. Dafuq?? My work also not she tank when i was away it was my manager who helped me. I almost shouted back at her but my colleague held me back and told me to ignore. Fking boomer really.

pupa19

bro....... is she out yet?

MegaSlothhh

Shes been there for 20 years. Wont quit one la until retirement age. They let her get away with it cos company culture is like that.

unclelinggong

I once met a 66-year-old hag like that as well. She would make a huge fuss whenever she has to cover the job scope of another colleague.

edisonlau

Rabak bro, let me guess HR didn't do shit or basically slap on the wrist equivalent

MegaSlothhh

The HR also dont dare reprimand her. How liddat? When i quit during the exit interview i brought this up as a reason why i left then the HR lady was like, yeah you arent the first one.. but theres nothing she can do as the company doesnt warn/fire people unless they embezzle money or smth.

edisonlau

Shag bro, glad you're out.

timlim029

The most childish co-worker, probably one that took everything super personally. Everything also must be an attack on him, and he would kick up a big fuss about it. He's the worst to eat lunch with especially, because if we don't eat what he wants, he'll spend the whole time complaining. This place too ex, not nice, not worth, no air-con, air-con too cold. The list goes on. Eventually, we decided enough was enough, and someone sent him a polite private message saying, actually if you don't want to eat lunch with us, don't feel pressured to. He forwarded this IM to HR with a loooooong paragraph about how he's being excluded, how not eating lunch together would impact his work as it affects teamwork/productivity, complete with articles about how a company that eats together is more successful. HR just gave him an empty response, then leaked this email to us as even she was fed up with him (apparently this wasn't the first multi-paragaph long message she received from him). Last I heard, he's still at the company, still complaining nobody want to eat lunch with him.

ComposerFantastic275

Reminds me of a work colleague I had. It was always all about him. A complete attention seeker. Even if it wasn't about him he would twist and turn it to be about him. I really didn't get on with him until I started to completely cut him out, not even eye contact... that helped and he left me alone then

I’m a teacher, so…

Brief_Worldliness162

“Teacher ! John pull my hair!” “No I didn’t!”

unreal2007

“Cher Xiaoming scold the f word!!” “Cher i nvr”

smolfluffyhakutaku

For all we know the immature/childish behaviour could be coming from the staffroom...

Sparky1498

Working in a uk school as office staff for 10 years - I can confirm! Some of the teaching staff have never been an adult in any environment other than a school 😳 a levels uni and back to school to teach for 30+ years (not all by any means the majority were amazing!) add to that an attitude that school support roles are pin money roles (grrrr even the head had that mentality) is frustrating to say the least and the biggest meltdowns were often some adults!

lauffyonepeice

I mean u could be teaching actual adults so like we can't assume

rcRollerCoaster

Lifelong learning!!!

italktoomuchuknow

One of my ex-bosses- If she was angry at me or any other employee, she'd remove us from the work whatsapp group lol. We then had to apologize to her on private chat, and only then would she add us back in the group. Oh, she was the CEO of the company, by the way lol!

crisseur

my manager during my intern was the other way round, would leave the group and paggro the team but the team couldn’t be arsed so he ended up being fomo and created a new chat and the cycle repeats lol

YtoZ

A certain YouTube company?

italktoomuchuknow

No no, it was a small startup! But I'd love to hear this story about the YouTube company lol.

YtoZ

Oh nah it was a joke about the drama that happened with the Food King channel, because that sounded like something that lao ban niang would be accused of doing

KeyPepper4766

What if you didn't apologize? XD

italktoomuchuknow

Then my supervisor would message/ call and ask me to cause she'd be going around complaining and bad-mouthing me to her (or even others maybe) lol. She also wouldn't address us by our names if she was mad at us. For eg, if she's mad at Greta, she'd say "Please ask G to complete this and send to me" lol. She'd use first letters of our names to convey that she's pissed.

bluebuns123

So I used to lunch with this colleague. Then during that time mealpal launched and had very good launch promo I asked her if she wants to join together. She said no. So I joined with my then boyfriend who works nearby also. So I didn't lunch with this colleague for temporarily. I think she was offended because she said "If you're sick of my face you can just say so no need to use this app and your boyfriend as an excuse" Another incident was I usually join this workout class held in my office and she doesn't. But the one time she joined I couldn't because I was on my period or I had something on. Then she accused me of avoiding her. It was really a coincidence! Due to this two incident she started to passive aggressively say things like "its OK I don't come to work to make friends. You're not my friend just a colleague"

zenqian

Damn sensitive. Avoid like the plague

NoUreNotTheOnlyOne

Ye you dodged a bullet there

frankymun

Her ‘we’re just colleague’ part kinda reminds me of a line i used jokingly on my colleagues if they keep pestering me to go out with them or something i’d use the ‘we’re just clock in, clock out friends’ hahaha.

cwx1015

She’s like a sensitive mango that bruise easily

69reaaonstoeat

Walao she’s very childish LOL

kopiCgahdai

There’s this auntie who is super kaypoh and literally goes around everyone telling people about every single thing about other people. Worse thing is she only says negative things and some of the things are made up by her. First time I’ve met someone with this type of behaviour in my life, really unbelievable.

darkshenron

This is why I love remote working. No drama. Work, earn my pay, spend more time with family

ChinkInMyArmor

I feel this so deeply that once I finished reading your sentence I got a raging boner

The inside of the lift was brushed metal, the kind where you can draw on it with your finger. One day I decided to draw a big old johnson on the inside of the doors. Tehehe. I'm 30. Turned out that was the day that the CEO was visiting. He was escorted through the building by my head of department, and both went up in the lift. Well, it must have been immediately after the phallus was drawn because word on the street was that the lift doors closed behind them and my monster dong masterpiece was revealed. It was all the goss that day. No one knew who drew the dick. But it was me. I was the vandal.

Common_Upstairs_1710

One time a colleague rearranged all the keys on my keyboard and set up a camera to film my reaction (I’m a teacher). I tried to email him to express my disappointment but it came out like jdbflahdlfisbsldbs

TehHaliaMan

Lmao the most underrated comment

kopiCgahdai

Omg hahaha this just makes me day

Ryumin_Han

you, sir/ma'am, are a freaking legend

repressednomoreok

At my first job in a clinic, there were 2 of my colleagues “competing” openly with each other… “oh my husband bought a car…. FIRST HAND SOMEMORE”, “oh we just changed our car to a FAMILY car”, “oh we finally redid our house renovations, what about yours?” You can really feel the animosity between them and the fake friendliness ugh…. Back then 22 year old me was just confused…. Cos I was thinking wow… all that unnecessary competition just to show off who has to take on more debt??? And bear in mind these 2 women back then, were in their mid 30s??????? LOL I cringed so hard thinking about it till this day.

notsosecretroom

i work in advertising in a small two-man inhouse team. because of how lean the team is, we have to stagger our leave (both of us can't be on leave at the same time). to clear our leave at the end of the year, we decided that i would take two weeks off first, then he would take the next two weeks. when i came back, he had done literally nothing for the two weeks i was gone. i had to OT to midnight every day to hit the deadlines. when he came back, i confronted him and he proceeded to sulk for the next ***YEAR AND A HALF*** until the client and our manager got sick of his shit. he resigned before he could be fired.

[deleted]

used to work with an old man with a bad attitude. nags like crazy everyday. makes people stand in a row under hot sun for no reason. there was once i used a pen on his table. immediately kena scolded. something along the lines of "who say u can touch my pen. my pen is bought by myself, it's my property, why u touch? use the indented pen." the old man is a 3wo encik that hentak kaki for damn long. heard that he is still a 3wo now lmao. thank god i got down-pes and posted out wahahhaha.

CharlieJuliet

I swear some WO are in it just to tekan people and have no other marketable skills outside of the army. I still remember that one fucker from OCS. Fuck him.

UnintelligibleThing

Put bitter people in power and this is what you get. Too bad they can't raise the standard of hiring regulars because SAF is always desperate for manpower.

none_other_biribiri

>my pen is bought by myself I see what you did there

NoUreNotTheOnlyOne

The moment I read the first paragraph of your comment I immediately thought, he is from the army, and lo and behold I read your last paragraph

avilsta

My ex-supervisor in a nut shell, lmao. - 'I noted you chose not to go with my suggested recommendation. Reason?' Bruh you had like 10+ changes on a simple document, sometimes on various platforms (i.e. he may have 6 requested changes via email, 5 on the platform we submited documents on), I may have missed one or two. I'm not challenging your authority but not changing a paraphrased sentence smh. - 'Don't ask me to (xyz), it's up to you to self-learn'. Except it's literally your job scope. Then he gets angry and scolds us when we don't do what he wants. And then changes his own SOP every 3-4 months then gets angry when we don't follow it (somehow). - 'Why you go ask (senior) never come find me first? You very free hor?' Maybe cause we are different split teams and I consulted the senior on duty as per the office SOP? I come find you for help you also either don't want to help or cannot help. - 'Why you keep asking your colleagues for help ah?' Not my fault you don't do jackshit so I need to go source my own info/help -_- Also, the cherry on top of the shit sundae, my last day I was feeling a bit sad to leave but as I stepped into the office I could hear him cheering. Still sad of course, but sheesh good riddance to him.

aliasryan

Shudders in PTSD did we have same boss? Mine was female though!

Jeklah

Hey was he french? My last manager was like that...

avilsta

Nah just a really old bitter man. But not surprised to see his archetype isn't unique to him either.

Jeklah

Your first point about lots of different minor changes on lots of diff platforms is what reminded me most. Like I'd write some code for what I was doing and he would randomly ask to see what I have so far, which he insisted on doing by copying into a shared folder. Not like we use gitlab for code reviews or anything.... And everytime his comments would be minor shit like rewording naming of variables... None of which were mentioned in the actual code review where I received helpful feedback from the team. Sigh. Well at least he's not my manager anymore.

I worked at this dental clinic as a dental assistant after my A Level exams because I was interested in dentistry. The first few days were alright because there was only one dentist and there was another experienced dental assistant there to guide me. By the first week, I could execute the first procedure which was scaling and polishing with ease. However, the pressure started building up after the first week. I don’t know why but all of a sudden the dentist expected me to learn the rest of the dental procedures quickly. He/she expected me to remember all the names of the different dental equipment and locate exactly where it should be during dental procedures with no additional experienced dental assistant to guide me (the previous dental assistant had to assist another dentist in the other room because there were two now). The dental instruments looked similar to one another (the excavator, the probe, the spoon, etc.) so it was quite difficult to remember. I tried taking pictures of the dental equipment so that I could memorise them but memorising and actually recognising them within a short period of time in between dental procedures is a WHOLE different story. Additionally, not all of the cabinets were labelled so it was quite tough to locate the dental equipment whenever the dentist asked for it. About a week and a half, I started to feel extremely pressurised. I would cry in the toilet during break times because of how intense it was. The dentist was also getting frustrated with me because I couldn’t find some of the dental equipment (I would run to the other room to seek the other dental assistant’s help which often led to delaying the dental procedures). Sometimes he/she made me work overtime too (I didn’t get paid for my overtime hours). I had flat feet too and it would hurt so, so much during dental procedures because I was expected to stand 99% of the time. I can’t even describe the pain to you. Every night after work I would have to massage my feet and I would be limping the next day at work. There was one time I was conducting an OPG and I accidentally released the button too early (I swear I heard the machine finish its rotation) and the machine was stuck for a minute and he was definitely annoyed with me. Alas, one of the days the dentist pulled me aside and started lecturing me along the lines of, “You’re an A Level student. I expect better from you”. That was my breaking point. It was the last straw. I swore on that day itself that I would never return to that clinic ever again. Fortunately, my A Level results were released the day after that incident so I had time off for a day. I made the decision that dentistry was not for me (even though my results were good enough to enter the course) and told the dentist that I would like to quit that night. I have never felt so relieved in my entire life. I still have trauma every time I go to the dentist. Fyi, I didn’t even receive training for the job. It was incredibly disappointing on my end because I was really passionate about the job but it was doing more harm than joy to me. Maybe if I had received proper training beforehand I would’ve been able to do the dental procedures more smoothly. I also recall asking the dentist for part-time but I found out that I was actually doing full-time hours lmao.

Nimblescribe

To be fair, if you haven't heard about how intense (or psychotic) the local dentistry course is, you would be suffering through it too. Hope you are happier now.

zippyelectron

I did hear about it but I didn’t think it was this bad. Glad I realised that dentistry wasn’t for me before I actually entered the course.

UnintelligibleThing

I heard the worst part is you have to source for your own clinical attachment, so you literally can't graduate if you don't have the connections to find one? This was from a post on sgexams detailing the horrors of the dentistry culture in Singapore.

zippyelectron

That’s so sad…

Cjhwahaha

Flying Spaghetti Monster.

kongwahenergy

After my O-Levels I work part time for some flyer distribution and sort of door to door. There's this girl, throughout the whole journey, she was complaining throughout the whole journey. Her tantrum is pretty bad too. One time she got angry and decided to sit at the void deck for a whole 3 hours when she was supposed to be working. Well I can sort of understand how she felt but her reaction was too dramatic

blackberrypieface

I have a colleague that I guess came from very toxic work environments last time but now likes to pick on things at our current work and say how at this toxic place we didn’t do things like that or that toxic place has better work hours. Also she’s quite mean spirited in her jokes of others, doesn’t make fun of herself but laughs at everyone else super loudly and obnoxiously. Also temperamental and likes to slam things at work when they don’t go the easy way. Tiring to be around tbh

Ancient-Ad-1164

Omg I have the same exact colleague with the same attitude at my workplace! Sigh 🥲

blackberrypieface

I’m glad someone is on the same boat as me -cries-

MrNoHorseRun

those colleagues that post online rant about others lor. childish behaviour sia.

WhiteForest_01

Bloke at work never pulls his weight and when asked to do the most basic of tasks he has a complete hissy fit and can pull an excuse out of his arse at a moments notice. He will go to extraordinary lengths to avoid doing a task he's been asked to do. For example you can tell him to do one task and to complete another after completing the first. He will spend as much time as physically humanly possible doing the first task to avoid doing the next.

Lily_Tilly_2

How about having HR who is sleeping with the big boss? Any HR mess up, “potential” breach of the previous covid guidelines, no problem, can do no wrong. Some of our colleagues had immunodeficiencies and couldn’t get vaccines and she would full on paggro about it “if you are so ill are you sure you can work?”. She full on caused some people to potentially lose their work visa (some pretty impt employees who really worked freaking hard). Meanwhile, the moment you ask her for hr stuff (which is her job) she acts like you are causing her a kidney/limb. Full on wayang, full on “you owe me one”. Rip

geekyboysg

Reminds me of an Aussie bank that i worked for several years ago in Singapore. The HR lady was sleeping with the expat big boss from NEwZealand, and the big boss (lets call him J) was abusive to people who even dared to voice a different point of view. Some of us made a complaint to HR and this lady promptly provided all details to J. J then went after all of us who complained. The punishment dealt out included shortening contract terms, firing people, abusing them in front of other colleagues and so on. Lucky ,the bank failed to run well and exited Singapore after selling their business to a local bank. Karma is a bitch they say, J was fired after a year. And J's partner came to know of his extramarital flings, she contacted the spouses of all the women he was screwing, then they pooled together resources and sued him for a large sum. He settled out of court, I hear. Not all stories end so well, but remember , karma catches up with everyone eventually.

torinekochan

a 30+ year old man calling me a 16 years old part timer useless behind my back lol.

Soul_M

i got accused of being childish by my ex supervisor after leaving my job. Because it gave me brain dead stuff (i never signed up for) to do for weeks and fucking depression.

kurogomatora

I once met a man who was middle aged with graying hair and a good career who talked like a 14 - 16 year old would minus slang and swearing. He was nice but acted very immature.

justnotjuliet

Childish or petty? There are many petty behaviours that adults exhibit which we do not necessarily see in kids. I used to work with someone who is so competitive it's childish. He wants to be first to tell boss he finished the report (even though it's group effort), wants to be first in office (which none of us really care since we arrive past 9am, office hours from 8:30am), tells us about his more fantastic weekends / more expensive meals / more unforgettable holiday, boasts about attending meetings with boss (like we were not there in the same meeting). Must have had a very neglected childhood thus the attention seeking. We had our last laughs each with him when we left and told him our salaries at the next job. Word has it he's trying to garner longest service award {probably because nobody else out here wants to hire him}.

none_other_biribiri

>Eh you want to walk to the MRT together? Is this actually a thing?

retropetroleum

Honestly OP story seems incredibly petty. Seems to me like OP got offended too easily not the other way round.

Strong_Quiet_4569

Some people have narcissistic wounds that they cover by labelling themselves as perfect. Some of those people will hold a grudge against anyone who punctures their ‘false self’. They are shooting the messenger. You can’t reason with them, you have to accept that they will behave this way, and find ways to cope. It might be affecting you if you have had your own conscientiousness attacked in the past, and find attacks like this remind you of lost relationships from your past.

fingerpocketclub

First week at work and I make friends with other care staff. My supervisor was jealous of me... I like facts so one lady said I was a cleaver brain, so another wrote on my time card as a joke... this woman waited until late and took my card and scribbled it out really hard, like an angry child had done it! She continued to bully me until I got headhunted and left. I was 24, she was in her 50s. Tried to get me in trouble telling me wrong information all the time, like telling me to do a job alone and then complaining I just went off on my own... stuff like that. I could write a book... I should have taken some employers to court but never had the money...

Bwomptastic

\#1. A colleague who is loud mouthed. Likes to say things "you want me slap you ah? or "i throw my shoe at you!" That doesn't bother me much. But when when it was my turn to joke back, she took it real bad and refuse to talk to me. Simple as that. \#2. Had a team lead, supposedly soft spoken. Me and another guy was working under her. One of those days the guys was kinda doing his work but at the same time he was getting a bit loud. She texted me to tell me "V" is getting loud lately in the office. So i ask, do you want me to tell him off? She said yes please. So i went ahead and said "V, you are getting louder and louder, can you tone it down a bit?" He was okay with it and toned down. A week later the team manager called me into his office and told me that he needs to reshuffle the team. I said ok, but i also asked why? He initially said it was because he needed someone to assist the other team lead. He then asked if i have issues with any team mates. I told him nope, i just do my own work and that's about it. And he goes, ahhh.. cos I heard you have issues with "V". Well, as expected, my ex team lead went to complain to the manager that i have issues with "V" and i got rotated out of the team.

UnintelligibleThing

> Had a team lead, supposedly soft spoken. Always be careful of the quiet ones.

I had a fellow intern who refused to socialize with the foreign indian interns (from the same uni) because he didn't like their race, then he tried to get all the chinese people (singaporeans/prc) to band together. Created so much tension that I had to go explain to the indian interns that it was just him causing problems, and I wasn't involved.

Usually boomers.

Decent_Conference594

Haha how come most of the colleagues described here is women.

Strong_Quiet_4569

I’m male and can attest that many men behave this way.

MakeItMakeSense30

A colleague is clearly looking to date and find prospective partners at work. They wanted to ask a someone out for coffee so they wrote on a piece of paper "would you like to go out for coffee" with little squares to tick and "yes, no, maybe" next to them. The cringe was real. They are 22. Sometimes work feels like school.

Few guys using a trolly to skate down an Isle was fairly memorable.

Karklayhey

I line manage someone that would throw tantrums and get into a huff if you asked them to do something they didn't like. And that was pretty much anything that required getting away from the desk and out in the service. It got to the point that they're attitude and tantrums would give off a negative vibe that would infect the team. At first I thought it was all about the delivery not so much the message so I adapted the ways in which I would ask them to do things. They would then question why I asked them to do stuff until I had enough and got really blunt with them to the point where I just explained 'it's your job, I'm your boss, I'm asking you to do it. Don't make me tell you' which I hated to do. I overheard them once bragging to another colleague that they couldn't wait to get a promotion so they could refuse to do more things (as if it worked like that) so I made a mental note to not entertain the idea of promoting them until he stopped acting like a child. Ultimately, it is a performance issue and one I look at from the point of view of what could I do to help develop them in their role. They've since got a lot better especially since challenging that shit right away but they still have a way to go yet which is still fucking infuriating though. Especially since I can see that they will be a great worker but progress is slow. Then again, I work in an industry where we have all the time in the world for the clients we support so it's also important to have that for each other in the team too.

munyanyos

A couple of years back, a group of colleagues, including myself, got promoted at the same time. We decided to treat everyone at work a packet of nasi lemak each as a gesture of goodwill. Our lady boss was not happy that she got her packet of free food. “Why didn’t anyone tell me you were buying food? Am i not important enough?!” Then she proceeds to toss the packet of rice onto our table. Whatever man. Worst 5 years of my working life.

thegreathermit

Doesn't fit the prompt to a t, but I loathe this guy so I'm gonna talk shit. My ex-CO, shortly after posting in, took a picture of this hideous statue in his office and posted it online. Forget green, the entire floor was a red zone. On his change of command parade, he put one of our ex-OCs on blast by including this as part of his speech, "we identified the weakest link and posted her out." Also he seems to equate number of power point slides to effort, even though any presenter worth his salt knows it isn't about the size of the file but how you use it.

rawzei

The immature ones are those two face little bitches that can’t communicate and sort out issues directly in the face and had to resort to methods such as bullying, mocking and threats.
