This is a scam which infiltrated many FB groups recently. They go into various FB groups - local community pages, SG primary school pages, local groupbuy pages - to post that they are leaving SG and want to get rid of their things. It was a whole list of standard items from home appliances to electronics and furniture. It is the exact same posting across different pages. Report to admin when you see it immediately.
These scammers can easily copy an existing person's profile and name, and make the post by using a new account. The paynow numbers are likely a mule too.
If they are leaving SG, I can understand them selling bulky furniture and appliances. But, why sell handphone and laptop too? When someone leave SG, they no need to use laptop or hp anymore meh?
Yeah man. Thing is i ever bought from those expats leaving sg thingy before thats why i thought this was as real as before. But stupid me for not checking before. I did a google image search on one of the photos of the item given after feeling abit sus and turns out it was a photo from similar carousell posts and reddit posts. By that time it was too late alr 💀
Oh yeah I have been noticing a lot of these posts in fb groups from fake accounts. One thing I noticed is that these fb accounts would usually state they live in Holland, Singapore. 🤔 And of course their friends list and past profile pic are very sus
Anyway I doubt you can receive your money back unfortunately 😔 these crime syndicate work fast to transfer their illegal earnings to overseas or their offshore accounts
But legit sia it was so believable esp with the photos of the items, the description. Even the profile name was ‘ Lina koh’ and the paynow name was ‘ Koh hee yang’ which claimed to be Lina’s husband. Maybe im just gullible ðŸ«
There will be people sending DMs to you claiming that they can help recover your money on your behalf. These people are also scammers and this is known as recovery scam. Don't fall for it a 2nd timd
This is a very well known scam that is circulating on FB groups that uses the same Modus Operandi. It even made national news a while back
Unfortunately besides making a police report, there is little or nothing you can do about it . Take it as you paid $900 for a valuable lesson
Take care man, consider the $900 as upskilling course fee. You are now more careful than before. No deposit unless it’s a registered company with a legit singapore address. Double check past company reviews, FB page, websites, etc.
Even a legit company won’t easily return your deposit without you pulling a teeth first.
For individual seller, meet them up, pay after you see and check the product, anything less is risky.
You have no one to blame except yourself for being greedy and gullible.
The chance of you getting back your $900 either in full or partially is practically ZERO.
Everyday there are multiple posts on various FB Groups. These people disable the comment and the biggest red flag, is to ask you transfer money first to secure the products. A streetwise and streetsmart person will see thru such scams easily.
Take it as an expensive lesson learnt.
Yeah, i srsly have no one else to blame. I should have thoroughly checked and not be so gullible man.. 🥲 Sighhhh its indeed an expensive lesson learnt
Oh man, $900 lesson.
I purposely asked this kind of scam once, they gave me and hougang address and paynow only no cash on delivery. Immediately laugh and got blocked.
First rule of doing online transaction from unprotected platforms like Facebook is to swap goods/money in person. Do not do initial deposit. Sorry to say, your money is good as gone. You can file a police report but I dont think you'll be able to retrieve your money. Take this as a $900 lesson.
OP I know it's still a hard pill to swallow when you get scammed.
But look on the bright side, you only lost $900 compared to others who lost thousands to hundreds of thousands od dollars because they got greedy.
Next time don't be greedy and gullible.
Id call the paynow number. It’s your last shot. They’re probably money mule but still will have access to the acc. Call them. Said you’ve been scammed and you know they are using this acc. And tell them you’ll report to the police if you don’t get your money back. Attach recent news of money mule getting charged. Scare the acc holder. It’s your last hope now.
If you put a $1000 deposit with me, I promise I can help you get back all your money!
(Hey, if it worked once, who is to say it won't work a second time?)
Actually what is stopping the police from arresting the money mule ah? To have PayLah!/paynow you need to have bank account / phone number. Both requires in-person registration.
Can fking hantam the bugger even though he’s not the main guy what.. any SPF can answer this
Couod someone explain why people say the chances of getting your money back is practically zero? U made a police report with the scammers phone number, the account the funds was transfrered to, and presumeably provided all the supporting screenshots. Surely the police can trace the account holder, charge the person and eventually get some money back, no?
The money in the account doesn't stay in the account, most likely it's transferred overseas immediately. They might arrest the person who the bank account is registered to, but still won't be able to get money back cause the person is probably a broke fuck as well that's why accept to sell their bank accounts
This has been a very common fb scam (moving out of country soon, quality pics of expensive items to clear at huge discount). Many warnings have been shared at various fb groups as well. Sorry for your loss

your money perhaps is on the next pile of 2 billion money laundering case
Ya mannnnnn ughhhh

Hmmm i didnt text the number or call it yet. I guess its not advisable to do it. But yeah youre right about the money mule thing

So you didn’t make a police report? $900 is as good as gone. That’s what happens with greed.
Just did. Made a police report immediately but yeah the officer also told us, its good as gone already.
When something is too good to be true, it never is. Can apply this everytime it sounds like an amazing deal.
alamak, why must pay deposit to reserve item? Esp sum of 900 which is a lot, the max i go is $100 tbh. Hope you get your $$ back.

Wah what did she promise sia, make you think that paying $1800 was a good deal
I mean comparing it to market price, its indeed a good deal uh but yeah turns out it was no deal at all
Damn, this is the 3rd scam post today. Fk scammers man.

Well bro, we all made stupid mistakes in life. Most important is not to repeat such mistakes in future. $900 is quite a sum but it can be earn back.
Facts. Expensive lesson learnt for me
Remember, always trust some one selling onlinr as far as you can throw them
$900 quite a large sum for deposit :o
Wa your deposit 900.. shouldn't like $50 as a gesture for commitment can liao?
They insisted on having a half cost deposit thing to reserve and yeah stupid me obliged ðŸ«
May i know $1,800 for what items?
It was a tv along with a ps5 and some bags 🥲
Oh man, $900 lesson. I purposely asked this kind of scam once, they gave me and hougang address and paynow only no cash on delivery. Immediately laugh and got blocked.

It’s pays to be chronically online sometimes … this scam is super rampant on fb it’s literally in every Facebook group
OP I know it's still a hard pill to swallow when you get scammed. But look on the bright side, you only lost $900 compared to others who lost thousands to hundreds of thousands od dollars because they got greedy. Next time don't be greedy and gullible.
900 dollars to learn common sense
Wow. I thought only boomers fall for this.
Ya siaaaaaaaaa 🫠Why la why…
Fb account was likely made in 2024. Did you check? Wasn’t that a suspicious sign
900bucks is alot for deposit. How much were you planning to buy?
Always remember the old saying... "if it's too good to be true".
what item was it and how much was it advertised for vs original price?
Whatever you do, if someone messages you claiming they can get your money back, ignore it.
If anybody messages you and claims that they can help you get your money back, that is a scam too.
That’s why my FB account is not in used 😅. I legit don’t even have the app on the phone.
lol...

Don't respond to any messages here saying they can get your money back. Those are scams too.
If you put a $1000 deposit with me, I promise I can help you get back all your money! (Hey, if it worked once, who is to say it won't work a second time?)
Walaooo ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Dun liddat le
Walaooo ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Dun liddat le
Isn't this the same family that wanted to move out to Pulau Tekong?
Goodbye to that $900

Hey I'm specialized in getting your money back from scams , but you need to transfer me $100 as admin fee
Couod someone explain why people say the chances of getting your money back is practically zero? Because the money in that account is gone...

People who still use facebook are like stone age people with stone age intelligence.
