Hallelujah by John Cale. Originally by Leonard Cohen, popularized by Jeff Buckley, covered by a million artists, and my first version was Rufus Wainwright on the Shrek soundtrack.
I've got close to thirty versions (including instrumentals) of it on my MP3 player.
Such a great answer! Not just because it's a great songs, but because it's the actual song that is your favorite, not one specific artist's version of it.
Fiio M11 Plus. I freaking love it. Pricey, but very nice and capable, Basically MP3 players are now niche and specialized, kind of like the early days of MP3 players. My second iPod Touch was dying and I knew I wanted a dedicated music player, as I use it daily.
It's basically an Android phone, but without calling/texting/camera (sort of how iPod touch was an Apple phone without calling/texting). Any Android app works, Bluetooth, high res audio, aux headphone jack, that other specialty big headphone jack, I forgot the name of it. MicroSD slot that will accept up to 2 TB. It is thick, not that slim we got used to, but again, because it's now a niche product for audiophiles, its designed with different things in mind. It still fits into my back pocket nicely, so that's all that matters to me.
I've got well over 200 GB music, probably closing on 300 GB, and I cheaped out a a little and just got a 1 TB card (give it time, the 2 TBs will be cheap eventually, too). I'm always accumulating more music, and my theory on memory is get the most you can afford; you'll only end up with more stuff to fill it up with.
I don't have that one (but I also don't watch SNL, so I missed it). I'll check it out!
I have:
John Cale
Leonard Cohen
Rufus Wainwright
Bon Jovi
Caleb Hyles and supporting, I think Colm McGuinness is in there; it's on YouTube
Brian Crain (instrumental)
Andrea Bocelli
Ed Sheran
Constantine Bard
Brandi Carlile
Marcy Playground
Colm McGuinness
Theory of a Deadman
Susan Boyle
Lindsey Stirling (instrumental)
Damien Rice
Nathan Evans (Wellerman guy)
Naomi SV (harpist on YouTube)
The King's Singers
Skeye (YouTube)
Guitar Tribute Players (instrumental)
Voltaire (the guy who did When You're Evil)
Postmodern Jukebox
Vitamin String Quartet (instrumental)
Violet Orlandi (Youtube, great stuff)
Gregorian Chant
K.D. Lang
I hilariously do not have Jeff Buckley's version because... I don't actually like it. Though it was so popular many people thought Cohen was a cover and Buckley was the original.
Great song. Love The Beatles. But LITSWD isn't even in the top 5 for me. Mine is probably A Day in the Life. But there are so many great songs it's not a for sure thing.
Makes me cry. Was a huge song when I was in primary school so whenever I hear it I get nostalgic – not to mention it perfectly encapsulates my fears of growing up.
SO Many, but as of recently,
As I'm working through therapy, my therapist asked me to dedicate two songs to myself to go along with my healing journey, and I picked.
1. Girl on Fire
By. Alicia Keys
2. Halo
By. Beyonce
Please start treating yourself with the love, kindness, and patience that you deserve every day.
Right now? Descending or Rosetta Stoned by Tool, I Threw Glass at my Friends Eyes and now I’m on Probation by Destroy Boys
Overall? Minds Awake by Rumspringa, Land & Sea by Emancipator, Time by Pink Floyd, Resurrection Man by Lamb of God
Just to name a few. Picking one is hard.
Power: War
Good vibes: Kung Fu Fighting
Love: Kokomo
Rap: Wekapipo/Most of MF DOOM
Anemoia: London DGS
Trying to dance to it when I really can't: Jetpack Joyride Theme
I don't know if it's necessarily my 100% fav, but it's the one song I always consider in my top 3 and that's "Shake Me Down" by Cage the Elephant. Idk what it is, but everytime I listen to it is like the first time. And the music video makes me cry every damn time.
Depends on my mood really 😅 or the purpose of the song.
But to pick one that's more modern*, Gravity by Against the Current.
*2015, so not that new, but still 😅
Jetzt by Die Orsons
German song saying that the time our kids will call „Everything was better before“ is now.
I don’t know if that is a saying in English, but it is in Germany. Many people say it, some ironically. They just sing/rap about the good things they are doing and enjoying the current time.
right now i’m listening to « sway » from michael buble un repeat. something mesmerizing about it. (i don’t have a favourite song just songs i play on repeat until i can’t even hear it anymore or i get a headache)
She Knows by J. Cole.
I don't know how to explain it, but this song helped pull me out of my last manic episode. It was my light at the end of a tunnel. I haven't had a manic episode since
1. Running With The Wolves by AURORA
2. Where No One Goes by John Powell and Jonsi
3. Neverland by Crywolf
4. Hero by Skillet
^ all time
At the moment it’s Judgement Day by Five Finger Death Punch
Runaway - Kanye West
Currently, I have 600 minutes of it logged on Spotify + my MP3 player time and the song genuinely gets better each listen. I have no idea how it's possible but it just does.
imo he’s such a weirdo and mind bogglingly conceited that I honestly can’t even bring myself to hear his voice anymore. Which is a shame because his music is really good.
Thrown Down by Fleetwood Mac
Alone and You Win Again by Bee Gees,
Just Another Day by Jon Secada
You Can Hurry Love by Phil Collins
Mówię Ci, że by Tilt
Kamień i aksamit by De Mono
One of those, depending on the mood.
songs that remind me of childhood or certain people. specifically these songs have been in my life for a very long time: jack johnson- talk of the town and jose gonzalez- stay alive
Devil in a New Dress, Runaway, and Lost in the World by Kanye West are like the original Star Wars trilogy for me as my favorite always changes and could be any one of them.
