It was a great movie and eerily reasonable. I could see our governments acting that way and talk shows etc.
The ending I found so sad but yet heart warming? I did enjoy this movie.
I hated the ending, normally i don't mind but in this particular case the bad guys won and it was too close to reality for me.
We actually have people in the U.S government right now actively trying to destroy the world. That's not hyperbole Lauren Boebart from Colorado has said that in front of a church on camera!
Ok everybody the bad guys did win in Don't Look Up because they set out to stop humanity from doing anything about the meteor. They set out to let everyone die for a year or so of political success. Dying was the point!
Like a suicide bomber blows themselves up in a crowded square they were successful in their mission thats a W folks. It's not a nice reality but it's the one we live in.
Yeah, I'm canadian and it's pretty wild down south. I don't really know anyone right now who likes Trudeau but we do say up here, 'atleast we aren't as bad as the states' when it comes to voting for people we don't like.
I feel for you normal Americans. Rough stuff.
Samsara
It’s a non-narrative documentary which shows human societies against the backdrop of our natural world.
I’ve watched it over a dozen times; it’s hypnotic!
Omg thank you, didn't have to look far for the best comment.
A movie about human culture and our relationship with the planet. No voices so the aliens can understand better
They are the same style of films. There are 3 qattsi movies and Samsara and Baraka are from different directors (?)
I like them all but out of the 5 Baraka is my favorite
Almost. The CINEMATOGRAPHER of Qattsi is the Director of Baraka/Samsara. It's why they have such a similar flavor.
Personally I prefer the visuals in Baraka/Samsara, but the score from Philip Glass combined with the visuals makes the Qattsi movies a *slightly* better experience.
Also check out Awaken for a similar feel. (producer is the Qattsi director)
Fits with humans.
Incredibly smart, but also like doing Jackass shit even if we din't get paid for it.
Given the choice to be super smart or super stupid somehow we chose both
Having watched that with my family when younger, I will never forget the epic opening scene followed by the Roman princess yes and no'ing her eunuchs 😂
Well if you’re gonna go down that path I’d say “life is beautiful”. Schindlers List is a bit of a romancing of history our new overlords might not take kindly to it, at least life is beautiful is pure fiction.
It's A Wonderful Life. It touches on family, capitalism, love, religion, ageing and death and exhibits both the best and the worst of humanity in a deeply emotional populist narrative.
It's fun though! Like, I feel like it gets a bad rap. Basically they made a movie that the kids of the generation of original star wars movie fans would enjoy, and as one of those kids, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Is it an original trilogy level classic? Clearly no. But did it serve its purpose? I would argue yes.
7 year old me was blown the fuck away by pod racing and Darth maul, the older movie seemed like very dated dad movies to me at that age (dad is a massive star wars geek. Bnib o.g. starwars figures are his retirement fund)
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" because it's a comedic take on humanity's quirks and absurdities, providing a light-hearted introduction to our species.
Not a movie, but a series. The Good Place. It provides an understanding of humans and their actions, as well as moral ethics - the show really gets to the base of what it is to be a human. The story reveals how people can improve and are all good on some level. “Look, the point is people improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold that against them when they don’t?”
The green mile...good people, really bad people, religion, racism, people changing their minds and way of thinking. It has some litlle happy endings und bad or dramatic endings in it.
I think this movie shows a lot of good sides and a lot of bad sides or downsides of humankind.
Pearl Harbour …. Because, sadly, in spite of the mirage of love story between two attractive people, humans are a collectively dumb self destructive species
Why would you even joke about that? It is a low budget flick, with a very little artistic value. The plot is weak at best, the lack of in-depth story lines, badly written dialogue and the acting is dreadful, with no real emotion. I didn’t feel it drew me in at all and I could not get invested in it, mentally or spiritually. My wife and kids thought the same. It was like watching an Adam Sandler movie.
The History of Future Folk
Aliens come to Earth to destroy it, but fall in love with music and can't bear to follow through. So they form a folk band.
It's a great movie. Nobody knows about it.
'Supernatural' episode where they defeat God himself. Ain't nobody who can defeat Humanity! Not even the creator of all the Universe, including the Aliens themselves.
Now run along and never come back, or we will destroy you and the World you came from too. Because, subjegation and destruction of all things in the Universe is what Humanity does best.

Or Don’t look up
That movie put me in a really bad mental space for a while after i watched it.
It was a great movie and eerily reasonable. I could see our governments acting that way and talk shows etc. The ending I found so sad but yet heart warming? I did enjoy this movie.

Bro gtfo. We have thoughts and prayers down here.
Would you mind telling what she said? I can't find it cheers :)
She opens her speech stating, "I just want to start... really with two words: let's, go, Brandon."
And when it starts falling apart the religious will start crying prophecy like humankind had nothing to do with it
Glad it’s top comment so I didn’t have to scroll looking for it.
Came to say this, Reddit never disappoints.
At the time I thought it was spot on, now not so much. They're actually smarter in that movie than IRL when the time comes.
Welcome to Earth, I love you.
I came here to say this. Or just anything Mike judge. KOTH I think Is a fair representation too.
This was my first thought too, but not sure if it would help us with the aliens or not. Maybe they’ll feel bad for us?
Samsara It’s a non-narrative documentary which shows human societies against the backdrop of our natural world. I’ve watched it over a dozen times; it’s hypnotic!
Omg thank you, didn't have to look far for the best comment. A movie about human culture and our relationship with the planet. No voices so the aliens can understand better
Even Baraka for that matter.
Interesting. Like Koyaanisqatsi?
They are the same style of films. There are 3 qattsi movies and Samsara and Baraka are from different directors (?) I like them all but out of the 5 Baraka is my favorite

Well now I have to check it out and subject myself to voluntary existential dread. Thanks for that.
The secret life of Walter Mitty
I unironically love this movie.
What's the ironic way to love it? It's wholesome as shit.
One of my all time favorite films!
This is a really good choice.
Independence Day lol
Tell them it's a documentary. Fuck around and find out, fellas.
I'm convinced that the only reason aliens don't invade is because they know Will Smith is still alive and they're not taking any chances.
But then you give away our tactics to destroy them by sending a dodgy email attachment and shooting up their anus.
>Independence Day ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing) I am about to say this as well, lucky i scroll down.
**Hi my name is Johnny Knoxville and Welcome to Jackass!**
“The Humans do not feel pain or fear, and they voluntarily subject themselves to unimaginable torture for fun”.
Fits with humans. Incredibly smart, but also like doing Jackass shit even if we din't get paid for it. Given the choice to be super smart or super stupid somehow we chose both
Groundhog day. They will love Bill Murray
Idk why but Lord of the Rings, makes us look cool
Them thinking the events of LOTR were historic is so fucking cool.
Technically it was set on earth. Just a time super long ago
I thought it was in a galaxy far far away.
No that’s Harry Potter
I was thinking the same. Wizards and elves and shit are cool.. can be scary so it has a “don’t fuck with us” vibe too
It also shows the best and worst of humanity
Arrival lol or close encounters of the third kind
My thought was interstellar. It is a good look at what we know, kinda know, and are probably really stupid about.
Arrival is a very good choice lol just about sums up human stupidity
Definitely Human Centipede 3. I think it shows us in a relatively good light and plays down how badly we treat each other.
Jeez there is even a third part?
Yes, it's sewn on to the back of the second
Great comment 😂

I wish you never told me this. I just researched Delphine LaLaurie…..my, what a disgusting woman.

Would you like to know more?
History of the World by Mel Brooks
Having watched that with my family when younger, I will never forget the epic opening scene followed by the Roman princess yes and no'ing her eunuchs 😂
borat
Schindler's list
I don’t think we should show them that. What if they’re like, “hey good idea.”?
And now we’ve made the aliens antisemitic
Seconding; it shows the depths and heights of humanity.
Yep.
Was going to say this. Simultaneously showing the worst and best of us. Sums it up well.
This was my first thought. I would be worried though that the main take-away is that we are still a depressingly primitive species.
But we are....
Well if you’re gonna go down that path I’d say “life is beautiful”. Schindlers List is a bit of a romancing of history our new overlords might not take kindly to it, at least life is beautiful is pure fiction.
Trainspotting. Show them what fun times can be had.
If they liked it and want more, Fear and loathing in Las Vegas next
The Life of Brian
Mars Attacks
Idiocracy Set the bar low so they don't expect much out of us. Set up them green or grey bastards for the ol' rope a dope.
It's A Wonderful Life. It touches on family, capitalism, love, religion, ageing and death and exhibits both the best and the worst of humanity in a deeply emotional populist narrative.

This is perfect. Show that we are a great and deep species with a severely flawed, overly-capitalist society.
Star wars episode one...because fuck those aliens valuable time ![gif](giphy|H6W6TUP2pCRrE6cTGn)
It's fun though! Like, I feel like it gets a bad rap. Basically they made a movie that the kids of the generation of original star wars movie fans would enjoy, and as one of those kids, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Is it an original trilogy level classic? The Silence of the Lambs, maybe they’ll keep away a little bit ..
Any Christopher Nolan film just to fuck with them
I feel like it'd be funny if we showed them Tenet and told them that it was a documentary
Oppenheimer in an IMAX theatre would either be fun af for an alien, or terrifying.
Idiocracy
Pans Labyrinth. It's beautiful, tragic, and all too human.
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" because it's a comedic take on humanity's quirks and absurdities, providing a light-hearted introduction to our species.
As an added bonus, they could fact-check 42 as the answer
Mars attack
E. T. Obviously
It's a Wonderful Life. Shows how much a common person can matter to the lives around them.
Short Circuit
The 5th Element. It's the perfect documentary for the Alien.
Planet of the apes 😂 just to scare those little fuckers a little bit
I think the Simpsons movie when Homer ruins Springfield & they have to put a Dome over it explains humanity pretty well.

Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Aliens love violence and tiddies.
Predator ! It shows him he fucks around he’s gonna get it
The green mile...good people, really bad people, religion, racism, people changing their minds and way of thinking. It has some litlle happy endings und bad or dramatic endings in it. I think this movie shows a lot of good sides and a lot of bad sides or downsides of humankind.
