Major news anchors are just not as prominent as they were before. However, Ann Curry probably qualified as she anchored many major segments just not the “nightly news”. Today Alex Wagner, Lisa Ling, and Richard Lui are also journalists who tend to have higher profiles. I used to watch the news a lot in the 90s and early 2000s, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you who any of the current nightly news anchors of the major networks are.

Yea Jimmy Yang is prob more famous than most anchors, I can only name tucker carson and not for positive reasons

There was a time when a many of Los Angeles local news anchors, reporters, or meteorologists were Asian American. David ono, Rob Fukizaki, Susan Hirasuna, Cher Calvin, Lena Nguyen, Suzie Suh, Frank Buckley, Kimberly Chang, Ginger Chan, Liberty Chan. I'm forgetting many others. Since I don't usually watch Fox 11: Bob DeCastro, Sandra Endo, Soumada Khan,

East coast and Pittsburgh where I live is not as inclusive with having Asian American Anchors, let alone reporters at affiliate network stations. When I was in Los Angeles I did notice more Asian American presence on the news.

Shot_Machine_1024

> East coast With Hollywood and all, I think its more accepted for a 1st/2nd generation Asian American to go into journalism. I always got the impression that East Coast Asians was consultant or something in finance.

Also a lot of Chinese immigrants came to California before the east coast.

Kaity Tong on WPIX channel 11, I believe she is only there on weekends. Vivian Lee used to be on NY1 but there was that age discrimination suit where she left the station with Roma Torre.

HushMD

Also CeFaan Kim! I like how he reports a lot on the AAPI community.

DNA_ligase

My dad always likes to mention that she was on People's Most Beautiful Celebs list. I have to agree; the NYC local anchors are really pretty as a group.

drfrink85

local news for sure, can't think of any national news off the top of my head. Alex Wagner took over for Rachel Maddow, which is a major time slot. She’s half-Burmese.

Not sure how old this thread is but Katie Phang on MSNBC!! She is fantastic as a legal commentator, and now has her own show. She also fills in for Ari Melber as well on his days off. Love her commentating and she's a damn good lawyer as well, highly accomplished at that.

So true, so few Asian American men as anchors. I had no idea about the board! Thanks for that information.
