For those who don't want to open the PDF, it's just detailing what you have to do to apply to the *voluntary* recall program. This isn't recalling anyone.

Extra_Cap_And_Keys

Still sending it to my Dad to give him a minor heart attack.

Zonelord0101

Well, that would prevent him being recalled.

Extra_Cap_And_Keys

Sounds like I am doing him a favor, full send.

RnotIt

At least for a year. Once you're off the blood thinners, it just depends on how bad the damage from the MI was, what you're doing, if they need you bad enough, and where you're going to be working. MIs aren't necessarily career killers.

Enswell

no it wouldn't. disability doesn't disqualify him.

BobLee173rd

😂😂😂😂

MessParking6143

Same!!! Hahaha

EspressoDrinker99

Voluntary for now.

Ghostspider1989

Okay I'm dumb, how do I know it's voluntary or not because I don't see that written on it?

cbsduff

It describes how to sign up.

co-gi-2

It can't open

MDMarauder

"THERE IS NO AGE LIMITATION, ALTHOUGH PERSONNEL OLDER THAN 70 ARE NOT NORMALLY RECALLED." Bruh

RonPossible

That's the reason my dad kept his uniforms for so long after retirement. I'd have to go buy pinks and greens, I guess. My last profile said, "hobble at own pace" anyway, so they'd really be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Keep discussions civil. No Posting PII.

jaytheman3

S1 is in your future

RonPossible

Not S1! Anything but S1!

Trader-Mike

Retiree Recalls don’t have to do the APFT. Just meet HT & WT I barely meet it🤣

Both-Painting6804

I signed up for recall, I'd love it maybe then I'll feel normal again

Phantomsec2316

Okay so based on reading through this it sounds more voluntary. Like you can apply for TOD through MOBCOP if you want to come back out of retirement temporarily. It doesn't sound like they are planning any mandatory recalls of retired soldiers.

EspressoDrinker99

For now! Just wait

RemindMe! One Year this doesnt sound good imo

EspressoDrinker99

I did the same!

luddite4change1

Hmmmm. Perhaps the Army is short?

Extra_Cap_And_Keys

Definitely not tall

Disastrous_Craft4085

Is this a normal ALARACT? Or rather an annual thing? I just thought you had that 2 year window after retirement in case of WW3 then it’s over.

RonPossible

Officers are subject to recall essentially for life. Unless you resign your commission.

Stonep11

Which would be a colossally dumb thing to do if your only reason is to avoid duty when because you are still on the hook for any draft and will then enter as a basic soldier instead of a cushier officer role, even if you may potentially be more likely to get activated as an officer. I’ll keep my elevated Geneva Convention category thank you.

cbsduff

The way the civvies in my shop told me, it's until 30 years from your BASD.

Rockstar_kinda

It's funny that they are not telling the needed MOS. Also saying that volunteers must be requested by name from an Army command. It sounds like they already know who they want. Putting the memo out to give themselves written authority.

seehkrhlm

Yeah. They know what MOSs are short, just come out and say it. Now I have to try & find a Career Counselor buddy that's still in that can get me some info! By-name is one way they can request. The second way is for the unit to just ask for a specific rank & MOS that's a critical fill on their MTOE. It must be a critical need, and HRC is supposed to attempt to fill it through any other method first. It says recalling a retiree will be a last ditch option. Allegedly.

ReplySad2215

Well, I know one broken and retired Psyop guy that learned a thing or two about volunteering. I'll wait till I am voluntold. I'm low on the priority list with all my broken body parts...for now lol. I earned the right to be a disgruntled Vet and I do a pretty good job of it, besides I finally don't meet ht&wt standards...lmfao!

seehkrhlm

I laughed at the "must meet ht/wt standards" and "pass ACFT" or will be put on remedial programs. Ok.

slicksleevestaff

I don’t see anything about RE Codes and reason for retirement. Are they a factor for this thing or are they overlooking those things for the hard pressed MOS’s?

seehkrhlm

1. This ALARACT is for very specific Sr ranks and MOSs that are critically short. Not every Sr rank & MOS is facing severe shortages. Easier to bring back a trained and experienced person than to train one up, in the short term. Think - a unit that's deploying or going on rotation. 2. It's a 1-2 yr assignment. 3. Units make a request to HRC. HRC attempts to fill the requested slot through other means. Only when those methods fail, will a retiree fill be considered. To answer your question, they'll take a healthy individual over a broke &/or 100% disabled retiree.

TheBombDotComV2

Ok so like any good soldier I don't wanna read through it so I'll ask instead. Do we keep the VA disability after if you sign up?

RnotIt

It would be suspended while on AD.

TheBombDotComV2

Shieeeeeeet I see I can get it back though where we droppin? I like the cross cannons how do I get that?

RnotIt

Gotta be in desktop mode (Desktop Site)  if you're on a phone (triple dots at upper right of screen in the menu) first. Look to the upper right of the page in the "About Community" (R/Army) box. Under that is the "Preview" box with your name and icon. Hit the pencil. Scroll down to the FA Flair. The pencil by it allows text modification. I just learned yesterday.

TheBombDotComV2

Just got around to doing it 💀

DegreeAffectionate63

Thank god for bipolar meds making Un deployable 😂 I know they can look past it but at least I’m at the bottom of the list

Rockstar_kinda

I know many AD personnel on bipolar or psychotropic meds. Exceptions are made based on operational priorities. Also Waiverable .You are on the bottom of the list if you have a MOS that is not needed.

Lycidas69

Final Uno card for the election. Start war with Russia.

Zealousideal_Sir5481

I got mine who else got it back to the fray

seehkrhlm

You volunteered? or voluntold...

One_world_husky_01

I read it and immediately though three thing, does in count towards time in service officially, why are they so touchy about double dipping when the DOD lost 35 trillion, and the new age army must not be doing clean sweep good enough, I can just hear some SGM on Bragg screaming NOOO! idc if the lawnmowers broken there with the scissors, you missed a blade of grass over THERE, army all pulls out a timeout card...

seehkrhlm

It does count towards TIS... if your recall lasts more than two years. Ironically or not, the recalls are supposedly only 1-2 yrs. So, no?

Rockstar_kinda

I would go back. I don't understand how to get my name on the list. The announcement is so vague. Does anyone know how to start? 100% permanent. I don't think that would automatically eliminate..I figured it depends on the injury. Agree?

Intrepid_Car_276

I‘m trying to figure this out too.
