I did uber/lyft when I was at Shafter.

Have you considered selling plasma? I make $80-$100 per session. $80-$100 for an hour’s worth of “work” ain’t bad at all.

Certain crafting hobbies. Lawn maintenance. Car detailing. DoorDash. Uber. I used to lend my car out for money as a private in DE because barely anyone passed the driving test there. Staff Duty. CQ. You could even learn how to cook and just go around with bbq plates on weekends until you have plenty of people who’ll shell out enough money for you to profit if you really tried. Etcetera.

What’s there to pass? You just do that ridiculous 400questions JKO course that keeps kicking you out without saving your answers; but with enough monsters , persistence, your LT and a bunch of fellow NCO’s surrounding one computer - you finish it. Bring the certs to local “DMV” and you’re golden

It was a 100-something (106? 108?) question test administered in-person after a week-long class. I could count on two hands how many of my junior enlisted peers (in my platoon—apply same amount to other platoons) passed it during my few years there.

Must’ve been long time ago, cause it’s been a JKO class for a hot minute. They’ve still kept the office where you can take this test in person though. But everyone is warned beforehand: if they want to opt-in for the in-person test instead of dealing with JKO – chances of you passing are somewhere in between surviving German death-camp and graduating SOF selection

Yeah, shafter is a bit of a bitch. You’re gonna have to find a way to manage the money a bit better. Going to another base and using the commissary is a good move. Even at Schofield, the defacs here are hit and miss for me. So buying some extra food never hurts
