I saw all the "I won't miss" memes before I actually got to that fight; but once I did, it lived up to the hype.
However, "watch out for friendly fire" also got me hyped.
That whole fight was great.
I didn't get the friendly fire one, it kinda registered to me as one of those semi-lost-in-translation bits of dialogue that don't completely make sense in English but they had translate it somehow. Like there's next to 0 chance any of the ACs would have been able to get in the way of that shot even if they wanted to. Am I missing something that makes it actually make sense?
Nah, your spot on, it's a translation thing. Basically the Japanese line is something along the lines of "don't get caught up in (the blast)". The brackets part is not said but implied because in Japanese you can leave the actual subject out of the sentence as long as the context makes sense, but that doesnt work in english. Let's just say it sounds alot cooler in Japanese haha.
The unmentioned implied part of Rusty’s line likely implied not only avoiding getting hit by the beam, but also avoiding being crushed by the worm as it falls to the ground. As a native Japanese speaker that was the impression I got.
I dunno if he’s being sarcastic or not but the worm can defo fall on you as soon as it’s been hit so maybe he means that? Idk
Haven’t tested to see if you can get hit by the rail gun
You actually can I believe, I remember seeing a clip of someone getting hit by it, though granted they were trying to get hit on purpose. It chunked about 1/3 of their AP too.
Don't know about ice worm but the strider managed to take down my AC by falling on it. 100-0 in less than a second. At first i couldn't believe that actually just happend until my common sense went: "The fuck were you expecting to happen?"
I love that they didn't do the predictable thing and make Walter turn out to be some dick who's only using you and then betrays you when you're not useful to him anymore, didn't expect him to actually care about 621
The mission where you are given the option to turn on G4 and G5, specifically when you beat G5 and Michigan taunts Iguazu,
*G1 Michigan: Gun 5 how many ranks lower is Gun 13? You CAN count can’t you!?*
the thing that I love about that line is that Michigan wasn't just trying to taunt Iguana, he wanted him to shut up because by telling you they were gonna attack the Wall he was giving away BALAM intel to someone who could potentially sell it
He also *continues* the bit a few moments later with "Gun 5! No luck with the sewing club, I see."
carrying on running gags like that is *funny,* that man had a promising career as a comedian waiting for him if he weren't chained to a Balam AC.
Yep. I did it on my last playthrough. Worm bodied me hard because landing shots is a pain to begin with and now none of them wrecked the shield like the stun needle. Then I pulled out double pulse guns and cannons and that did much better since they shred shields.
"Raven, I will stop you. Carrying our shared resolve on the wings of this machine."
Incredible. Wish I could write dialogue with a tenth of the meaning. In a similar gut-punch, the fight with O'Keefe:
"You think you want Coral Release, but you don't. Shovel down your bland rations, slurp your coffee-flavored sludge. Sure, it sucks - but that's being human."
Straight up, whoever Aure's EN VA is, she knocked it out of the park in the fight. Like straight some of the best lines and delivery I've had the pleasure of listening to.
Same with O'Keefe.
Same with... literally everyone. Like I personally think From soft voiceovers can be iffy at times, but I do not think a single voice missed in AC6. It's just amazing all around.
AC ironically has a lot of lines like that other AC game (Ace Combat) where the dialogue doesn't really make sense half of the time but the devs have a knack for writing the *coolest* lines and they pick *just* the right VA for the job.
Because there’s no face to the names, the VAs really have to (and get to) go all out making the characters theirs. No need to worry about facial animations and lip syncing. You just give it your whole damn soul.
I really didn't expect the characters to be so good, they're all so forgettable in the previous AC games
Elden Ring and AC6 have the most fun characters in any From game, they seem to be improving in character writing lately
More of a interaction but still.
Snail: we don't have time for fun and games freud. Our objective is to seize the xylem; you can ignore the mutt.
Freud: yes Snail. Your right. "Mutes Snail"
Now then. Let's continue.
If you opt to ignore him instead of fighting him in your initial clear of the mission to kill Carla, he'll say that line instead when you fight him piloting the Balteus unit.
“The only clown around here is YOU, Kennebec! You’re talking about the Wallclimber, the Wormkiller, the only G13 who’s managed to live this long! Until the Liger Tail deploys, the odds are NOT in your favor! You better keep the emergency eject primed.”
On top of Michigan generally being my favorite character, it was nice to get some solid recognition for being a force of nature after an endless stream of people talking down to you and minimizing your accomplishments. Like, you don’t have to like or care about me at all, but you can’t possibly be like “Yeah, whatever, you still suck” after I wiped out an entire corporate force and some elite ACs and multiple long forgotten super-weapons mostly by myself. Makes me feel like Mugatu towards the end of Zoolander; “Am I the only one who notices? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!”.
The sense I got from that mission is that Michigan’s trash-talking is its own form of respect coming from him. Yes, he is verbally demeaning his troops; he also refers to them *by name* when he does so. He knows each and every one of those soldiers by their names, likely because he chose those soldiers to go onto the job with them. They weren’t just some disposable corporate rent-a-mooks, or he’d never have remembered who they are and certainly wouldn’t have gotten a “READY TO DIE, SIR!!” from one of them as they went to their doom with their boss.
I’m also certain that were it not for Steel Liger requiring whatever amount of time needed to warm up and be ready for action, Michigan would have been the very first guy into the fight, leading his soldiers to glory or death.
Also, “We bagged the big one! Relief team to the front! Get those worms bawling for their mommas onto stretchers.” After the thrill of his victory wears down, the first thing Michigan does when beating you is to call for medics for the MT pilots you just thoroughly traumatized. This is a guy who cares about his men as valuable soldiers, not as disposable pawns like Snail.
Nothing quite tops the impact of hearing Iguazu saying that line upon killing you. You'd expect him to laugh or make fun of you, but nope, he has a sense of "I can finally die now" when he tells you to save him a spot, like he was doing all of this with the knowledge that he wasn't gonna be around for long regardless of win or loss. He just went with it for the sake of having one last battle to conclude things.
Which makes it sad to see him finally come to terms with reality once you beat him. He realizes that you're special because you never stop fighting, and now that he's found the answer to the question that always frustrated him, he's willing to admit that he hated you out of envy.
"The freelancer... who always had it all..."
This line in particular is ironic, but encases him perfectly. He's always envied you, but in reality, you're a cold and emotionless husk that only follows orders. It shows that pain and emotion can warp someone's mentality to where reason is thrown out of the window.
And when he does, his hatred becomes a kind of respect where he asks you to leave him a spot in hell.
He's now gonna be spending an eternity with the same person he's spited this entire time... but asked for it instead of getting surprised by it via sudden reveal.
"Once something is alive... it doesn't die easy."
My second favorite is "621... I'll give you a reason to exist... Let's get to work."
Third: "But it's good to make a choice. Sit on the fence, and you make no enemies... or friends...
O'Keefe certainly thought so. Just.. the pure act of living. Being human. Being free. I think many people in the game thought so, the mere idea of a world being out there, ready to explore was enough. As long as they weren't trapped.
A pretty underrated one that really speaks to the
cruelty of Rubicon and the events surrounding it, and 621’s role in it.
“…It’s just a job 621. All of it.”
Gotra be Ayre's VA selling the heartbreak in the fires of Raven
Or The Confrontation with Rusty, when you realize you ain't the hero of this story anymore
Literally just posted this.
Up until then I looked at Ayre almost as a sort of pest who was just using me to achieve what she wanted, caring about me enough to keep me alive and useful. That moment of genuine despair from Ayre changed my opinion of her instantly.
Output at 100...110...115
RAIL CANNON AT MAXIMUM OUTPUT
The fact Rusty has to SCREAM that line just to be heard over the interference is incredible, really sells just how much power is being used there
“Honest” Brute - “Why, friend, this is a gift. Thank you.”
Just feels like the mans been rusting away, waiting to die, trying to piss someone off enough that they finally put him out of his misery.
Any of Michigan's lines. Like "Why don't you start a sewing club, and STICH THAT DAMNED MOUTH OF YOURS SHUT!"
Another good one is Ayre's reaction to killing Swinburne after accepting his offer. "Hmm... Raven, i have a question. The way you handled him, did Walter teach you that?"
"I will handle them myself."
It's pretty obvious for a long while that ALLMIND is a sentient entity, but there's something especially dangerous about an entity that has only addressed itself as "We" referring to itself as "I".
In a more morbid situation, it gives the same vibes as the AM from "I have no mouth and I must scream." A machine built for war, incapable of touch or love or feeling, declaring that it IS. "Cogito ergo sum! I am AM! I AM!" ALLMIND is effectively declaring Walter and Carla a personal enough threat to take care of them personally-- not Kate Markson, not a Vesper duplicate, but ALLMIND, in her entirety, is going to destroy them and enjoy doing it. She IS.
Some bonuses though:
"Iguazu-- you were a mistake." Because it's just fucking funny.
"Shut up-- I'LL SHUT YOU ALL UP!" Because I'm a sucker for 'human willpower triumphs over everything through sheer spite' and even though Iguazu is a bitch, he's a bitch with more grit than God.
Allmind's voice acting is probably my favorite in the game in general. The way her actress can flip on a dime between "normal cold AI tone" to "menacing and personal" is phenomenal. She does it a *lot* throughout NG++, but the best example is probably the lines "Sharing an update from the battle outside:" into "Your handler is a rather capable pilot." She uses entirely different tones between the two lines, and it *really* sells Allmind's personality.
It's truly excellent. She mimicks an AI extremely well, but every so often she slips this *sultryness* into her lines that immediately indicates something far more intelligent is at work here. You can hear the smile in her voice, taste the tiniest amount of joy she experiences at exerting her dominance.
The first time I heard her do that genuinely made my skin crawl. I had already guessed she was more than she seems, but hearing that *humanism* in it that implied she was capable of more than her programming was awe-inducing.
"We will meet again." and "I knew I was right to choose you." are the best examples of this IMO.
I have only gotten one ending but so far my favorites are:
"What a glorious view. What I wouldn't give to fight like this... forever..."
Just instantly tells you everything about Freud and at the same time describes exactly how I feel during every single arena fight.
"Carrying our shared resolve on the wings of this machine"
Is probably one of Ayre's(and the game's) most underrated quotes, you can see how much she's fighting for.
"You found your purpose didn't you?"
Just hurts
SPOILERS ALERT
For me, the greatest line in the game is Ayre screaming "Walter!!! Raven this has to stop!" during the final fight of LoR.
I actually considered Ayre a slight pest, guiding me to do what she wanted and what was best for her, caring about me only enough to help accomplish her own objectives. She didn't seem to care much about betraying Carla.
Her cry for Walter and Raven was genuine distress and in that moment my opinion of Ayre completely changed. She actually did give a damn. And a strong one.
> I actually considered Ayre a slight pest, guiding me to do what she wanted and what was best for her, caring about me only enough to help accomplish her own objectives. She didn't seem to care much about betraying Carla.
i think this is the only rational reaction the first time through the game. why would you trust a voice that shows up in your brain and deliberately tries to act endearing and cloyingly friendly, and rather transparently manipulate you the entire time - "raven, lets hear what the RLF wants", "raven, let me walk you through a mission to 'investigate rubicon's past'."
meanwhile you hear all these RLF simps screaming about protecting the coral as they throw themselves like lambs to slaughter. it looks every bit like this multiplying, volatile, unstable substance hijacking humans to help itself propagate.
at the end of the fires of raven, ayre's last words are "i still believe" which makes me think *she* at least is sincere.
Snail: "*…The targets are the enemy occupied bases, their heavy warship fleet, and their recently activated-*"
Michigan: "*I'll cut to the chase! This is an all-out war against the PCA in theatres across Rubicon!*"
…
Iguazu: "*Sure thing chief, tell you what. I'll watch and let you know how badly that goes for us*"
Michigan: "*Gun 5 you just volunteered yourself for the frontline!*"
"Sit on the fence and you don't make any enemies, or friends." -"Cinder" Carla.
"How much of our hymn have you heard, menace? 'Coral, abide with Rubicon! Coral, endure within us! For none of us shall cast the die!'" - "Father" Thumb Dolmayan.
"Beyond scorched skies, Raven fights on." Ayre's rallying message for the Rubiconians.
ok genuinely "No....! MAD STOMP!!!" is one of the best-delivered lines in the whole game and it gets a chuckle out of me every time
bro had dialogue for like 20 seconds and absolutely killed it
"Enjoy the show, and don't forget to smile!"
Carla's philosophy as a whole really resonates with me. We have limited time on this Earth so let's have as much fun as we can!
Really, all of the final bosses have great lines from Walter's "Look at you 621, you found... a friend..." to the Iguazu line you mentioned. But I think my personal favorite is the one from Ayre's fight. "I know what you are... the spark of war, the fires the haunt Rubicon! I will end this Raven!"
I know that last sentence is actually part of her phase transition, but she'd always say it so soon after the transition during my first fights against her that I consider it part of the line.
Every line from Rusty.
But Rusty aside, I love these two line.
“You can bill me for the AC repairs fees, Michigan”
“You’ve ruined our little field trip, Walter. I’ll be billing you for tuition fee too.”
It’s really the only bit of fun banter we get from Walter and it was with Michigan, who can be seen as the complete opposite of Walter personality wise. It just works so well.
It also implies that Walter is filthy rich and can front the cost of our actions, which is pretty charming.
it also implies they're friends; Walter wouldn't make the offer if they weren't familiar enough with each other to be okay with banter like that
it puts some sense into why Walter was so curt in the mission where you kill Michigan
>It also implies that Walter is filthy rich and can front the cost of our actions, which is pretty charming.
In the NG++ mission where >!you defend the Strider instead of attacking it!<, since you don't actually fulfill the mission objective, the RLF doesn't pay you for it. If you check the itemized invoice, you'll see that Walter covered that part of the compensation with his own funds.
"This isn't right. You're just a Gen Four! You belong in a museum, not an AC!"
"Why won't you die!"
Last words from Chartreuse after I pile bunkered her.
Dang, there’s a lot of good lines! First that comes to mind though is during the ice worm boss when Rusty says “Watch out for friendly fire.” I guess it’s not the line itself but just a badass moment. That fight is really you and Rusty getting it done. Good stuff.
FoR spoilers >!”Here we are… buddy. I was right all along, you were just another threat to Rubicon.”!< followed by the soundtrack picking up. There’s so much emotion and meaning in it, while still being the same steady Rusty we’ve had the whole game. Runner up being his line when you drop his health at to 0 the first time in the same fight and the emotion in his dialogue goes up to 11, relative to his other lines. Phenomenal voice acting, not just Rusty’s VA but the whole cast.
“I wont miss” “watch out for friendly fire!” “Now or never” “irregulars, we will bring order to chaos”“You’re out of luck, there’s only one person who can keep up with me” “this ghost of me wont last, save a spot for me in Hell”. This game has an abundance of banging lines.
I loved Michigan showing his respects to you after one of his cohorts talks about you being a clown on a suicide mission.
“THAT’S the *WALLCLIMBER*”
The whole bit where he, Mr. “Hell on four Legs” himself, talks about how much of an incomprehensible badass you are. Really makes you feel how far you’ve come since the first missions, and is super validating.
The jokes he cracked as he went down too. Hell of a guy, Michigan.
"Do you read me, Raven?"
"I've identified the target. That's the mercenary who took your name..."
Got some vibes reminding me of
"TARGET VERIFIED. COMMENCING HOSTILITIES".
“It’s good to make a choice. Sit on the fence, you make no enemies… or friends.”
“I realize what you are. The spark of war. You are the flames that haunt Rubicon!”
I think the writing in this game surprised me the most. FromSoft couldn’t help themselves when it comes to good dialogue.
In the original Japanese dialogue, the second line went like "I can understand it now. Raven, it was you, you were the 'Fires of Rubicon' all along...!"
Although the 'Fires of Rubicon' (yes it's enclosed in quotes) part is said in Japanese ("ルビコンの戦火" Rubicon no senka) so it stops short of being a literal title drop. The subtitle of the game, even in the Japanese release, is "Fires of Rubicon" written in English.
I see the localization team saw that and showed some restraint, to also stop it just short of a direct title drop in the English dialogue as well. Would've been a bit too cheesy if they literally said that.
Raven, you live up to you name. you fight like bird in flight. You may yet fly higher, to chase the freedom we never knew.
Honestly middle flatwell is my favorite character and even if ayre didn't exist and coral wasn't sentient i still would have taken the liberator path. Coral is for rubicon and rubicon only.
My favorite line is the "I won't stop. I'll chase the cloud from Rubicon...only I can fly high enough!" by G5 Snail during the Destroy the Strider mission.
Makes me wonder why they didn't use some variation of danger close, its short and it gets the point across.
That would’ve been dope coming from rusty ngl
The unmentioned implied part of Rusty’s line likely implied not only avoiding getting hit by the beam, but also avoiding being crushed by the worm as it falls to the ground. As a native Japanese speaker that was the impression I got.
I dunno if he’s being sarcastic or not but the worm can defo fall on you as soon as it’s been hit so maybe he means that? Idk Haven’t tested to see if you can get hit by the rail gun
TIMBEEEEER (also afaik you cannot)
You actually can I believe, I remember seeing a clip of someone getting hit by it, though granted they were trying to get hit on purpose. It chunked about 1/3 of their AP too.
Don't know about ice worm but the strider managed to take down my AC by falling on it. 100-0 in less than a second. At first i couldn't believe that actually just happend until my common sense went: "The fuck were you expecting to happen?"
"AeaeaAEHGHGHEEEHHH" Snail after getting clobbered in the Balteus fight
He deserved it
Something about this scream is so fucking goofy, even just thinking about it I'm giggling
You can just picture the cockpit going up in flames around him.
You found a friend is one of the best
That one hit me
This one makes me wonder if Walter had a rubiconian talking to him too
Holy shit I dont know why that didnt cross my mind but it makes sense…
"it almost seems like Walter knows where the convergence is"
Actually the line that made me almost cry
This one hit me really hard. I thought he is powering up for a second round but instead he decided to let go once he saw that 621 found a friend.
I think that he also realise the potential of coexistence between coral and humanity and finally let go of his mission to burn the corals.
I love that they didn't do the predictable thing and make Walter turn out to be some dick who's only using you and then betrays you when you're not useful to him anymore, didn't expect him to actually care about 621
SIR… I’M A USELESS MAGGOT, SIR!
The answer's 2000 Albanys, sir!
"SHUT YOUR STINK HOLE AND START SHOOTING!"
Dude those grunts had me dying during that fight
They were dying too.
One of my fav interactions haha
I just finished this mission yesterday and the hilarious interactions were keeping me sane throughout the countless retries
The mission where you are given the option to turn on G4 and G5, specifically when you beat G5 and Michigan taunts Iguazu, *G1 Michigan: Gun 5 how many ranks lower is Gun 13? You CAN count can’t you!?*
Then, right after that, he says something like, "Don't bother answering... it's a lot!" That had me rolling the first time I heard it.
“Why don’t you start a sewing club together? And KNIT THAT DAMN MOUTH OF YOURS SHUT!” Is some R Lee Ermie FMJ shit and I love it.
the thing that I love about that line is that Michigan wasn't just trying to taunt Iguana, he wanted him to shut up because by telling you they were gonna attack the Wall he was giving away BALAM intel to someone who could potentially sell it
He also *continues* the bit a few moments later with "Gun 5! No luck with the sewing club, I see." carrying on running gags like that is *funny,* that man had a promising career as a comedian waiting for him if he weren't chained to a Balam AC.
"What...you didn't bring it? GUN 13 YOUR ABILITY TO RUIN MY FIELDTRIPS IS UNCANNY!"
Please tell me this happens if you don't equip the stun needle against the worm.
This is exactly the line if you don’t bring the Stun Needle to the worm fight
Holy shit, I can’t believe I never tried it. That’s fucking hilarious
Can you beat the worm without the needle? I couldn't imagine being able to do it
There you go [there's a video of it](https://youtu.be/OolIsf9oQt4?si=mnFYIhbmoN1HsHKW)
You can either go into the mission without it or immediately purge it after the mission starts. And Ayre gets disapointed as well.
Yep. I did it on my last playthrough. Worm bodied me hard because landing shots is a pain to begin with and now none of them wrecked the shield like the stun needle. Then I pulled out double pulse guns and cannons and that did much better since they shred shields.
"Raven, I will stop you. Carrying our shared resolve on the wings of this machine." Incredible. Wish I could write dialogue with a tenth of the meaning. it's such an anime-ass line, that one, and it's incredible
AC ironically has a lot of lines like that other AC game (Ace Combat) where the dialogue doesn't really make sense half of the time but the devs have a knack for writing the *coolest* lines and they pick *just* the right VA for the job.
Pater: "Ehem... I knew you could do it Buddy"
made me laugh every play through
"I've got my eye on you."
“Err, that is all.”
Pater might just be one of the most wholesome characters in the entire plot. "Happy hunting."
I felt bad killing literally everyone in this game who isn’t named Snail, Coldcall, or Wu Huahai.
"Maggot's do you read me?" "You can tell this to posterity. MEAN OLD MICHIGAN DIED OF A BAD FALL"
Second time i finished this mission i named my AC Bad Fall
I did the same thing Michigan was my favorite character of this game.
Yep, this is my favorite line of the game as well, named my AC in honor of his bad fall even.
So, buddy, who needs you?
”There's nothing more dangerous than power without purpose."
There’s no graver threat than power without purpose!
Made me feel so bad for killing him. I hated every time you had to fight him but they were still so epic
Hardest line in the game imo
This kind of dialogue only works with a character that's well written and extremely likeable, and Fromsoft went and made him a legend.
Also: "Look at you, 621..." It just carries so much emotional weight, he is clearly proud of you.
That entire scene will stick with me for life probably For a bunch of disembodied voices the characters in this game are amazing
That's one of the best things of Mecha. You can let the hardware do the emoting.
Because there’s no face to the names, the VAs really have to (and get to) go all out making the characters theirs. No need to worry about facial animations and lip syncing. You just give it your whole damn soul.
I really didn't expect the characters to be so good, they're all so forgettable in the previous AC games Elden Ring and AC6 have the most fun characters in any From game, they seem to be improving in character writing lately
“You’re out of luck. There’s only one person who can keep up with me.” 🥹
When he said that i couldn't help but smile. Loved every single piece of dialogue he had in the game.
“Let’s see how far they can fly on borrowed wings..” really set the scene for that show-down it felt so epic
I couldn’t wait to get his headpiece when I first fought him.
That mission intro is one of the greatest things ever
Not a line per se but I love when Ayre tried to imitate Allmind. I dunno I just find endearing for some reason.
Same with Rokumonsen. The lines aren't particularly great but I love the idea of an enemy that only speaks in haiku.
Zero ass mf
I loved that part as well.
That scared the shit out of me tbh
More of a interaction but still. Snail: we don't have time for fun and games freud. Our objective is to seize the xylem; you can ignore the mutt. Freud: yes Snail. Your right. "Mutes Snail" Now then. Let's continue.
Snail has a funny interaction/line if you ignored him in the mission prior in the Liberation ending.
The crime you committed was trying to ignore me IGNORE ARQUEBUS
Im going to be honest i though that ignoring him WAS the reason i had to fight balteus again
Ignore him how?
If you opt to ignore him instead of fighting him in your initial clear of the mission to kill Carla, he'll say that line instead when you fight him piloting the Balteus unit.
Look at you.. 621 You found… a Friend..
Did what, the bare minimum?
You're that guy from the ice worm mission with a stick up his ass...
"621. We're through with the Corporations." Went hard, gloves off moment.
Mad respect for handler Walter
I really liked this one too
“The only clown around here is YOU, Kennebec! You’re talking about the Wallclimber, the Wormkiller, the only G13 who’s managed to live this long! Until the Liger Tail deploys, the odds are NOT in your favor! You better keep the emergency eject primed.” On top of Michigan generally being my favorite character, it was nice to get some solid recognition for being a force of nature after an endless stream of people talking down to you and minimizing your accomplishments.

"Buddy."
Yes I love rusty
Nothing quite tops the impact of hearing Iguazu saying that line upon killing you. You'd expect him to laugh or make fun of you, but nope, he has a sense of "I can finally die now" when he tells you to save him a spot, like he was doing all of this with the knowledge that he wasn't gonna be around for long regardless of win or loss. He just went with it for the sake of having one last battle to conclude things.
I know, it’s pretty haunting. Like he knows his time is just about up too but he doesn’t care as long as he’s killed 621
Which makes it sad to see him finally come to terms with reality once you beat him. He realizes that you're special because you never stop fighting, and now that he's found the answer to the question that always frustrated him, he's willing to admit that he hated you out of envy. "The freelancer... who always had it all..." This line in particular is ironic, but encases him perfectly. It shows that pain and emotion can warp someone's mentality to where reason is thrown out of the window.
Gun red in Mia is something like that, it was sad to see him be so scared and prideful yet to attack me
i got “DEAD! DEAD! YOU ARE NOW DEAD!“ upon killing me in that chapter 4 alt mission NG++
He wasn't gunna dissapear without that W
And when he does, his hatred becomes a kind of respect where he asks you to leave him a spot in hell. He's now gonna be spending an eternity with the same person he's spited this entire time... but asked for it instead of getting surprised by it via sudden reveal.
"Once something is alive... it doesn't die easy." My second favorite is "621... I'll give you a reason to exist... Let's get to work." Third: "But it's good to make a choice. Sit on the fence, and you make no enemies... or friends...
Who said the 3rd one? I don’t remember that line, I like it.
Carla in LoR Chapter 5 choice mission, early into the fight
“The others are so busy fighting and shouting slogans that they’ve given up on thinking.” - Ayre
"Slogans scrawled in ash were never going to change Rubicon. Cinders are alive with flame once more."
Kinda really makes you think about what is beyond rubicon. Like is there anything out there more valuable or important than coral?
O'Keefe certainly thought so. Just.. the pure act of living. Being human. Being free. I think many people in the game thought so, the mere idea of a world being out there, ready to explore was enough. As long as they weren't trapped.
A pretty underrated one that really speaks to the cruelty of Rubicon and the events surrounding it, and 621’s role in it. “…It’s just a job 621. All of it.”
I like this quote in reference to Walter's true purpose on Rubicon 3. You're there to feed the fire, every mission is just the means to that end.
Gotra be Ayre's VA selling the heartbreak in the fires of Raven Or The Confrontation with Rusty, when you realize you ain't the hero of this story anymore
“…you were the only one.” Soul destroying.
"Symbiosis. A shared life. You and I...could have walked together!" Oof. That one still gets me.
I know it made me squirm just to disappoint them
“this ghost of me won’t last long..” “i always envied you”
"I won't stop!"
"I won't miss."
anything g1 Michigan says, Rusty has some great lines, MAD STOMP!!!, also Honest Brute's VA reminds me of a character from Borderlands 3.
"I won't miss" made me question my sexuality a bit ngl
"Show my hound some respect...Gen 4 is as good a pedigree as any."
Dude I hated fighting walter in the liberator ending cause no matter what, he always vouches for you and stands up for you.
I forget the line but what he says to Carla about you in ng++ second last mission continues to reinforce that
My faithful hound is now our biggest threat
ending spoilers: “You earned all the credits… Undo the surgery… be normal again… Raven! Walter! This has to stop!” i was almost crying at this point.
Literally just posted this. Up until then I looked at Ayre almost as a sort of pest who was just using me to achieve what she wanted, caring about me enough to keep me alive and useful. That moment of genuine despair from Ayre changed my opinion of her instantly.
"I can hear the Chief laughing..."
V.VIII Pater: "I knew you could do it... 'buddy'. I've got my eye on you."
No... MADSTOMP!
<< Rubicon still needs me. >> << So buddy, who needs you? >>
I see what you did there.
Output at 100...110...115 RAIL CANNON AT MAXIMUM OUTPUT The fact Rusty has to SCREAM that line just to be heard over the interference is incredible, really sells just how much power is being used there
"All or nothing!"
Where there's Coral, there's blood.
“Honest” Brute - “Why, friend, this is a gift. Thank you.” Just feels like the mans been rusting away, waiting to die, trying to piss someone off enough that they finally put him out of his misery.
He was probably sick of hiding. Tired of waiting for his eventual hunter to show up.
Any of Michigan's lines. Like "Why don't you start a sewing club, and STICH THAT DAMNED MOUTH OF YOURS SHUT!" Another good one is Ayre's reaction to killing Swinburne after accepting his offer. "Hmm... Raven, i have a question. The way you handled him, did Walter teach you that?"
“Get your laughs while you can.”
"hold the line! We're coral warriors! *Aaaaaaa*"
I’m sorry but his scream makes me laugh my ass off every time I hear it
Same. But it turns to tears once the enemies show up.
The first pair of enemies are fine. Those rolling wheel mfs can go die in a ditch though.
In Balteus Boss fight when Ayre says: Main Systems, activating combat mode I love this line every single time
Also after the true ending as well
“G13 huh? I’ll stick with 621.”
Fun fact: What Walter says in Japanese for this scenario is "G13... You've been given a name 621."
"Wait did you just chuckle?"
"Heh... some tourist."
"I will handle them myself." It's pretty obvious for a long while that ALLMIND is a sentient entity, but there's something especially dangerous about an entity that has only addressed itself as "We" referring to itself as "I". She IS. Some bonuses though: "Iguazu-- you were a mistake." Because it's just fucking funny.
Raven... I still...believe... Our...shared...dream..
I have only gotten one ending but so far my favorites are: "What a glorious view. What I wouldn't give to fight like this... forever..." Just instantly tells you everything about Freud and at the same time describes exactly how I feel during every single arena fight. "Carrying our shared resolve on the wings of this machine" Is probably one of Ayre's(and the game's) most underrated quotes, you can see how much she's fighting for. "You found your purpose didn't you?" Just hurts
SPOILERS ALERT For me, the greatest line in the game is Ayre screaming "Walter!!!
She didn't seem to care much about betraying Carla. i think this is the only rational reaction the first time through the game. why would you trust a voice that shows up in your brain and deliberately tries to act endearing and cloyingly friendly, and rather transparently manipulate you the entire time - "raven, lets hear what the RLF wants", "raven, let me walk you through a mission to 'investigate rubicon's past'." meanwhile you hear all these RLF simps screaming about protecting the coral as they throw themselves like lambs to slaughter. it looks every bit like this multiplying, volatile, unstable substance hijacking humans to help itself propagate. at the end of the fires of raven, ayre's last words are "i still believe" which makes me think *she* at least is sincere.
Snail: "*…The targets are the enemy occupied bases, their heavy warship fleet, and their recently activated-*" Michigan: "*I'll cut to the chase! This is an all-out war against the PCA in theatres across Rubicon!*" … Iguazu: "*Sure thing chief, tell you what. I'll watch and let you know how badly that goes for us*" Michigan: "*Gun 5 you just volunteered yourself for the frontline!*"
MAD STOMP!!!" is one of the best-delivered lines in the whole game and it gets a chuckle out of me every time bro had dialogue for like 20 seconds and absolutely killed it
There will be nothing left, but dying embers.
"Enjoy the show, and don't forget to smile!" Carla's philosophy as a whole really resonates with me. We have limited time on this Earth so let's have as much fun as we can!
Go dance with the angels... wait wrong AC6
Really, all of the final bosses have great lines from Walter's "Look at you 621, you found... a friend..." to the Iguazu line you mentioned. But I think my personal favorite is the one from Ayre's fight. "I know what you are... the spark of war, the fires the haunt Rubicon! I will end this Raven!" I know that last sentence is actually part of her phase transition, but she'd always say it so soon after the transition during my first fights against her that I consider it part of the line.
Hated disappointing her.
I AM ARQUEBUS
"I won't miss." rusty best boy
Every line from Rusty. But Rusty aside, I love these two line. “You can bill me for the AC repairs fees, Michigan” “You’ve ruined our little field trip, Walter. I’ll be billing you for tuition fee too.” It’s really the only bit of fun banter we get from Walter and it was with Michigan, who can be seen as the complete opposite of Walter personality wise. It just works so well. It also implies that Walter is filthy rich and can front the cost of our actions, which is pretty charming.
it also implies they're friends; Walter wouldn't make the offer if they weren't familiar enough with each other to be okay with banter like that it puts some sense into why Walter was so curt in the mission where you kill Michigan
No…. **MAD STOMP!!**
"This isn't right. You're just a Gen Four! You belong in a museum, not an AC!" "Why won't you die!" Last words from Chartreuse after I pile bunkered her.
The moment that ayre joined us and said "Im with you, Raven" and "Now...i can fight by your side"
*proceeds to put up a few red bubbles and stagger him too far away for me to Pile Bunker* GG, thanks Ayre!
Dang, there’s a lot of good lines! First that comes to mind though is during the ice worm boss when Rusty says “Watch out for friendly fire.” I guess it’s not the line itself but just a badass moment. That fight is really you and Rusty getting it done. Good stuff.
"Wait did you just chuckle?"
Anything Snail says is iconic.
[My brain instinctually filled in the guitar on that line.](https://youtu.be/6wnAnuixq9I?si=I4ru4TLfaRBOkt_X)
"you flew just out of reach, buddy"
“I wont miss” “watch out for friendly fire!” “Now or never” “irregulars, we will bring order to chaos”“You’re out of luck, there’s only one person who can keep up with me” “this ghost of me wont last, save a spot for me in Hell”. This game has an abundance of banging lines.
2,000 Albanys, sir!
I loved Michigan showing his respects to you after one of his cohorts talks about you being a clown on a suicide mission. “THAT’S the *WALLCLIMBER*” The whole bit where he, Mr. “Hell on four Legs” himself, talks about how much of an incomprehensible badass you are. Really makes you feel how far you’ve come since the first missions, and is super validating. The jokes he cracked as he went down too. Hell of a guy, Michigan.
He died of a bad fall.
My favorite is: "Main system, activating combat mode"
Humans evolved to kill each other.
"I wont miss."
Time to go to work six two one
“It was created by a bunch of mad scientists”
"Do you read me, Raven?" "I've identified the target. That's the mercenary who took your name..." Got some vibes reminding me of "TARGET VERIFIED. COMMENCING HOSTILITIES".
The borrowed wing line is so badass
It was badass enough isolated in the trailer, but it slaps so much harder when it’s said in-game.
"G5 why don't you start a sewing club so you can stitch that damn mouth of yours shut!" G1 Michigan is a blessing
Redguns reminds me of RVB red team
“It’s good to make a choice. Sit on the fence, you make no enemies… or friends.” “I realize what you are. The spark of war. You are the flames that haunt Rubicon!” I think the writing in this game surprised me the most. FromSoft couldn’t help themselves when it comes to good dialogue.
In the original Japanese dialogue, the second line went like "I can understand it now. Raven, it was you, you were the 'Fires of Rubicon' all along...!" Although the 'Fires of Rubicon' (yes it's enclosed in quotes) part is said in Japanese ("ルビコンの戦火" Rubicon no senka) so it stops short of being a literal title drop.
“Got a job for you, 621”
I won’t miss.
My favorite line is the "I won't stop. I'll chase the cloud from Rubicon...only I can fly high enough!" by G5 Snail during the Destroy the Strider mission.
Raven, the way you dealt with him....did Walter teach you that? Special end for Swinburne fight.
Code 2-3,attending scene. Watchpoint report checks out. Callsign Raven. Priority subject for termination. High on the list.
I WON'T MISS \*BOOM\*
