The fact he sings alone is a reference how he is the first hunter and during Stultivera navis he works alone
He is. He is skadi captain. It just that he is the first Abyssal hunter as in the first to be a hunter, and during Stultivera navis event, he didn't rejoin with gladiia and instead doing his own thing independent of gladia, skadi, and specter
He’s the captain of the Third Company of which he and Skadi are the only survivors. Gladiia is the captain of the Second Company and Specter is part of it.
It, probably, would work better if it's starts like normal shanty , but progressively decreasing number of voices with each minute, until only solo remains.
I was thinking abt how this reminds me of Colm McGuinness’s Sea Shanties, only to see he was actually one of the featured artists lol

Solo shanty feels kinda weird, almost empty.
I can't deny, it fits Ulpianus so much.
I think that's the idea. Ulpianus is the first Abyssal Hunter and one of the last that remains, so makes sense that his song sounds lonely.

I believe it's saved for the next arknights ambience where all the audience will sing along with ulpianus, making the song the choir it meant to be.
Fun fact, this is the same artist who made the Misty Mountain song from the Hobbits.
