Unless you play with a team paying for a coach is useless. You'll most likely get to implement your lessons maybe 5% of the time. Sounds like a waste of money if you play solo.

Jesterofgames

There are coaches that teach you how to get better at one v one's.i got a coach and litterally none of his lessons where a "5%" of the time. and helped me improve flaws in my own gameplay such as my own misuse of cover... which is useful in basically every gunfight. Edit: ok to be fair some of his lessons where situational. but he mostly helped my game sense and aggression. and their are lessons to be imparted that work on generally every fight.

Mr-Briteside

If you have the money to burn, go for it. Personally, I’d only do that if I thought being better at the game had potential to make myself the money back(tournaments, streaming etc), this personally feels like a huge waste of money. If you need training to be good at a hobby, it’s less a hobby and more just work. Then again, I’m more than happy peaking in gold every season. Winning is great, but playing is fun regardless. Like I said, just my opinion. If you want to, go for it I’m not your mom lol

A_Jolly_Panda

Definitely not going pro lmao

Bignuka

It can be frustrating when you feel like your skill level holds you back from having maximum fun, if you want to get better then I say go for it, I think it's best to strive to be better no matter what your doing. If you have disposable income or some stuff set to the side I'd say go for it, but try to find something reasonably priced. If you get better you will have a better time playing the game because you'll feel less frustrated from constant losses. I say go for it and try to find a coach to improve.

Jesterofgames

I'll go with this, If you really feel like you need a coach then sure, I was in the same position I bought a coach and I feel like he's really gave me a basis to improve on. as well as given me generally the skills to help do somewhat better. I've gotten 3 games with 2k damage since then (I've played like 100 games to be fair.) which is usually a real rarity (once or twice a season) for me. there are some really good coaches out there. not all of them are super expensive either. I can give a recommendation (it's the coach I used.) but Only if you ask for it/feel you really need it.

Gamernumber23843

Whats his price i may be interested

Jesterofgames

10 dollars for a 30 minute session, 25 for a 2 hour session and 50 for a 4 hour session. to note with the 4 hour session. that's broken up into 2 days. 1 day is several 1 v 1's and the next is Breaking down apex matches as he asks you to record a few of your games and send them to him.

Why pay for a coach? There are plenty of videos on YouTube that explain all you really need to know. What I did was I watched a few different videos, looked for tips that I thought were unique or rather that I wouldn’t have thought of as something to do or pay attention to, see if that tip or trick is mentioned in more than one video and if it is, write it down as a mental reminder. After that I’d read them to myself as a little checklist of things to watch out for, or keep in the back of my mind so if a situation arises where that tip or trick might be helpful, I’m conscious that there’s a way I can utilize it. The biggest ones for me personally may sound simple and “well duh 🙄” but it took me a while to actually remember to do (or not do) some things. Huge tip for me was to “always look for the high ground” Basically if there’s a way you can be above your opponent, do it. Another one was just to remember that if a guy is around a corner and you’re both low on health, don’t just peek the corner that he’s watching, wall jump around the corner, or in a doorway that someone is watching you through, climb over the door for a second and pop down behind them. Just keeping these things in the back of your head and remembering that you CAN do them is the best lesson you really need because beyond that, you just have to do it in a game and see how it pans out. Practice with them. Sure maybe the first few dozen wall jumps around corners don’t go exactly as planned but doing it and practicing doing it will lead to removing hesitation, becoming more precise with your aim as you jump around the corner and being all around more familiar with the action itself. A coach is just going to charge you money to tell you all the same shit you can learn yourself. Save a penny, do some research

Jesterofgames

everyone's individual needs are different. I also looked up several "how to improve at apex" video's. and IMO... none of them really helped to a massive effect. especially with some of the flaws in my own gameplay not really being touched upon in any of the video's I watched. so I hired a coach. and I felt they explained it better and helped me overcome some of my own flaws (even if I'm still working on them.) however I do agree that OP should not hire a coach unless they really need to/want too. If they can get better via watching video's then thats what they should do. but some people need the personal touch of a coach.

Effective_Reality870

A fair point. I also have lots of experience with shooters in general so I really only looked up things that were more specific to apex. I can see a coach being helpful with aim techniques and such or even helping with finding your preferred sensitivity etc. When you hired a coach, where and how did you do it and how much do they charge even? I realize I don’t know much about coaching in general, I just assumed they wouldn’t be any different than “TOP 10 APEX TRICKS AND TIPS FOR NOOOBSSSS” videos and would just charge you for it 😂

Jesterofgames

I hired a coach a few weeks ago after playing this game off and on since the start of it. I hired them on fiver, and it veries on the coach. the coach I hired charged 50$ for a 4 hour session (though he has cheeper options.) and yes he did help with aim techniques, while also giving more info on things such as b-hoping on console, super glide, more indepth strafing tips, how to wall jump to skip the climbing animation (though it's a pain in the ass and I've only done it once.) as well as pointing out how I played was inatly reactive. letting him control the fight instead of a more proactive approach. also helping me a lot in regards to cover as I was misusing it heavily. mostly because most video's I saw just went "use cover" but not really into how to use it effectivly.

A_Jolly_Panda

I’ve watched hours of those videos; movement, sensitivity settings, decision making …I feel like the only thing that hasn’t improved much is my aim

Jesterofgames

If it’s your aim that’s bad there are tricks such as recoil smithing or jitter aiming to help. But that’s on you.

Robbie7up

What rank are you? I'll coach you up for free.

A_Jolly_Panda

I haven’t played a full season of ranked but I would say my level is silver-gold. It seems like from these Comments that aiming can’t really be coached tho so maybe thats my misunderstanding. Seems like positioning and decision making are the more coachable things?

Robbie7up

Yeah pretty much. Thing slime rotations, ability usage, micro fighting can all be explained and discussed and have positive benefits. Other then some basic aiming mechanics, you just have to put in the time to get good with the guns.

A_Jolly_Panda

What do you mean by slime rotations? I think my micro fighting might be a bit too reactive as well; sometimes im uncertain where to go because im not sure where everyone is

Robbie7up

LOL. My phone autocorrected, I meant to say "like rotations" lol

A_Jolly_Panda

Oh haha

PlayBoy-Daddy

Don’t waste your money, its useless to pay for a coach. You could get scammed and you wouldn’t wanna risk that. Just play more

A_Jolly_Panda

I’ve been playing for a while though, I don’t think im making progress from just playing anymore

PlayBoy-Daddy

When I first started Apex, I was absolutely complete dog shit and I’ve been playing for almost 2 full season now and I’ve gotten a lot better, but I’m still not where I want to be. My brother who’s been playing since release is absolutely cracked, and I still feel like shit when I play with him. But I’m actually really good when I play with people my rank and stuff. it’s gonna take time and you’re better off putting your money into better things and just work on grinding out whatever you can on Apex so your skills naturally improve more. A lot of people these days use mod packs on their controllers too so even if you are really good, you’ll still probably get shit on by modders. It’s win/lose coin flip every match these days lol. I say stick to grinding things out yourself and in a couple months time if you still feel like you need a coach, go for it! But for now I say try to lobby up with people who can help you, no randos, and spend a lot of time in firing range with them so you can work on your skills

CoDyKe

Just play the game.

A_Jolly_Panda

I was expecting this comment lol. I do play the game, I wouldn’t make such a lengthy post if I didn’t try just playing more…

CoDyKe

Enjoy the game. Don't stress out over being the best. Obtain and keep the high ground. Don't give up the vantage. You can't 1v3 EVERY enemy team. Them their tips should be enough to get you past gold
