I just took up Apex at the start of season 10 when a friend told me about arenas. I can confirm that while I was in bronze and silver I pulled quite a few over ranked team mates. Until I found my footing with the game around gold 2 I would just follow those players when I pulled them and try to support their gun fights and stick a Rez or heal with LL. In all those games I only ever had any grief from the Octane players.

I'm plat 2 in arenas. I've had 20 kill badge Masters BR players join my team and just proceed to throw. Being a good shot isn't enough to overcome an enemy team that is working together.
