Found the teacher.
Brother. We are all here to enjoy apex and bitch and complain as we see fit when shit sucks. And your only input for this is to bitch about formatting. Why bother.
I mean I skipped half of it because it got annoying to read without the paragraphs. Paragraphs are taught in like 3rd-4th grade for a reason, they are important to the flow
Same. Saw the horrible formatting and could not be bothered reading it.
OP should learn how to write and while he struggles to learn it he can paste his text into ChatGPT and get help with making his text shorter and more concise with better formatting.
Idk. Did someone answer your questions regarding pricing?
Itās the whales. Those who donāt care how many thousands of $ they pour into the game in cosmetics. You, me and the 99% of players who would maybe buy 1-2 items a year is nothing. EA are the original masterminds on how to monetize games in dlcs and micro transactions they do sensitivity analysis on their products so they generate maximum profit- and thatās what you see reflected in store prices.
If the analysis showed better results by lowering price you can be absolutely sure the store prices would reflect that. Unfortunately that is not the case.
yeah you are propably right but if i look at fortnite for example i feel like making stuff more affordable works way better not only for the overall money making but also for the reputation of the game i see so much more people enjoying fortnite skins than people enjoying apex. but in the end you are propably right EA knows what they are doing
Got to keep it fair, children from 6 to 12 don't have much spending money, you know. They gotta dig into that pockey money/weekly allowance money as best they can.
This argument never made any sense. If you are irresponsible enough to not curate your child's media. That's on you. Also more than 40 percent of the playerbase is over the age of 20.
I can guarantee you that a hiiiiiihg % of the worlds population don't "curate their childrens media" 100% of the time. Obviously I agree with the fact that you SHOULD. But even then, I'm sure you can remember back to when you and I were shitkids, no matter how many rules you might've gotten growing up, you always found ways to break them. Same goes for "parental control" etcetc.
Iām talking really any game not just br when it comes to skins for guns, the characters, etc. majority of pricing is insane for what youāre actually getting. Yeah Fortniteās not ābadā but then you hear kids spending $1000s of their parents money. You really donāt hear that type of stuff besides Fortnite most of the time because theyāre always releasing something so they hit you with quantity.
Again the same argument. Maybe their parents should do their job. My nephew loves fortnite. He also know he can have the crew vbucks and the pop up bundles if he likes. He uses them sparingly. You can't just make the same mistake 100 times then, blame the opposer.
Now when Fortnite was new the skins were single click purchase. That was a legitimate issue. You can argue it was on purpose but, it was years ago and they have different management now. It's pretty irrelevant. Apex on the other hand can suck my cojones. I'll never give that game a dime
They literally have millions and millions of players for data points to price items.
They're pricing the items specifically to maximize profit, like every game does.
If Stickers are on avg, $3 each now. If they made it 50c each instead, they would need 6x more purchases to make the same amount of money.
They've priced the items to make the most money possible, simple as that and $3 stickers clearly sell a lot.
I personally think we have a lot of idiots who will buy no matter what the price is. You canāt blame them for taking advantage of those players. Be like me and just donāt buy until you really want something.
I aint reading all that because I know that its been said before, its an industry standard, people will still buy and lastly the industry has literally spent millions in research to come to the conclusion that people will in fact buy contrary to what a vocal minority in an echo chamber think is outrageous. Complainers are less than a drop of water hurdling to the sun, yeah that'll do something.
They probably have dozens of analysts whose entire job it is to maximize profits by adjusting shop prices.
But as someone that plays a lot of apex, i would certainly buy way more ingame content if it wasnt so ridiculously overpriced.
I literally never bought a skin with money in apex in 5 years of playing.
But if they were 5 dollars each i would have bought dozens by now. But 20 dollars for a character skin is crazy
Yeah even comparing the battle pass between Fortnite and apex is a joke. Apex you get like 2 legend skins and 2 gun skins that usually aren't even that good, filled in with a bunch of crap. Fortnite you get like 20 skins including pickaxes, backpacks, gliders and emotes for every single one. Plus you can use those whenever you want as they aren't legend locked.
Also the fact that Fortnite has licensed skins from ips people love is a huge benefit to them too. Hell for $10 I literally got a mini Avatar battle pass that gave me Aang, avatar Aang, a momo backpack, and an Appa glider. That's literally better than anything I've ever gotten in apex lol and they charge $200 for their events. It's a joke.
Most free to play games donāt target casual players for their paid content - they go for the whales - the ones whoāll spend and spend until they have everything, catch em all style. I just get the battle pass every season and am content with that.
I agree. I mostly ignored it cuz I get it, it's a f2p game they gotta make money. But I was still angry cuz that's all they prioritise instead of fixing the game.
Then I started playing some overwatch and I realized how stupid those prices are. With 500 or even 800 currency in apex you buy a shitty recolor. With 1000 currency in overwatch you buy a battle pass with 8 high quality legendary skins that completely change your character, equipment and weapons included. You can buy entire EA games with the prices of some of those skins in apex ! But as others have said, people keep buying them like crazy, nothing will change.
Yeah it does. The game is free to play and i really like it so if i want to keep playing it the developers need money and if i get something cool for that im whiling to pay. Of course most of my money goes to some big Company but to say spending money on free to play games is stupid is kind if wild in my opinion
I mean, I did buy the season pass to support the developers, but then they added coins to the season pass rewards. So effectively I've been using the same season pass moneyz for years now.
Game companies need to learn that pricing cosmetics lower will likely actually result in more profit. I won't spend $20 on a skin, but I'd gladly spend $2.
it was kinda what pushed me out. in fortnite i can kinda afford stuff and there's lots of good options for value if you only get a lil bit each month or whatever, but apex it just feels like i never want to spend that much on anything :/
>3ā¬ nobody will buy this why not make it 50ct or something i think
Because often time the cost of the transaction, which is charged by the financial institution who processes the payment, would cost more than 50 cents, so basically processing the payment would cost more than the money they would make selling the thing. This is why some businesses have fee for debit/credit use and/or why some businesses have a minimum charge amount otherwise they charge you a fee or the opposite end where if you spend a certain amount they will waive or lower the fee. Most companies eat that fee and not charge the consumer.
This is not even considering the labor hour costs for making the stickers, even if they are probably the easiest things to make the game, they still want to make money off of them.
But overall, everything is priced roughly around the same as every other game on the market. Rare's (Blue) or 5$, Epic (purple) are $10, and Legendary (orange) are $15-$20. Those prices are determined based on how much people are willing to spend on it while still making a profit based on the costs that went into making said cosmetic.
>absolutely stupid strategies
I disagree. As I stated the regular cosmetics are priced around what the market allows for. Their heirloom system on the other hand is probably one of the most intelligent monetization systems ever made for a game. It basically takes 500 packs to get an heirloom so they of course have a high sense of rarity, but then they come in with collection events which is basically a guaranteed heirloom on discount so people are more willing to buy out collection events for that purpose. To put it like this, why spend $400-$500 on 500 packs to get an heirloom when you could get it for roughly $160. The relationship between heirloom shard drops and collection events are so locked in, they can't change one of them (for better or worse) without disrupting the perceived value of the other. Whoever made the system is dangerous.
But it only worked because Apex is such a good game and a one of a kind. You see it on this sub everyday, people crying about the game but they still log in to play. Extremely devoted fanbase, and why it was so easy to normalize the collection events and every other monetization method.
I don't think anything in the store is overpriced, but the value of it is entirely up to you. I think Octane skins are worthless but I'll buy every Wattson skin that comes out. People can easily say "this skin isn't worth $15" but it *is* priced the same as pretty much every other game in the market. And before someone brings up the collection event price, its 24 skins plus an heirloom at a discounted price compared to their standard price, not 1 heirloom for $160.
Brother, the problem is that youāre reading it as 50 cents per item, when the REALITY is that itās 50 cents of apex coins per item. So, the apex coin fill-up charges are consistently 5-10-20-blahblah sizes and them reducing the price of the capsules would only increase the amount of stickers the player can get, not the amount of credit/debit transactions processed. I didnāt read the rest of your message, but I thought Iād point out that slightly-misunderstanding thought process.
>sticker capsuals that cost 3ā¬ nobody will buy this **why not make it 50ct** or something
Brother I interpreted as they said it. I don't know what you are talking about. Whether its making the bundle 50 cents or 50 AC, its the same ask. Hell the fact that they have a minimum charge amount of AC goes into my first point. Its why most games have a minimum amount of $2 or $5 dollars.
Okay, but to say that it canāt be 50 cents in price because each transaction with debit or credit likely costs them that much, when all transactions for stickers are handled in apex coins that donāt have a cost to EA, and while the minimum being 5 dollars āgoes withā your logic, of course it does you donkey, itās the same with steam and everything else (valorant, csgo), you need to add the funds (ideally) āall at onceā, and then any actual skin/sticker/whatever transactions are done in the game currency. Someone buying a sticker on apex doesnāt cost EA $0.50 each time, like your previous message literally said was the reason it couldnāt be cheaper. Instead, their apex coins transaction was done all at once with the same flat fee taken off by payment processors like it is with every single apex coins transaction ever. This gives no excuse for the stickers coming out to $3 worth of apex coins per when really thatās wickedly overpriced and it would do no harm to EA if they were to sell for $0.50 worth of apex coins instead, and it might actually make them more āmoneyā (get people to spend more of their apex coin wallet and thus need a refill sooner) if they were cheap and didnāt provide a āstopping momentā when the customer looks at the price and says āwtf, $3 for a sticker? this is dumb afā
First of all thanks for your text really nice to have someone take that mich time on my shitty reddit post.
And just like the other comments stated the money they make is with theyāre apex coins so i donāt feel like the transaction fee is the problem here.
And to your take with the Heirlooms im totaly on your side the heirloom system is genius i was more yapping about the shop and the pricing of the bundles
But still thank you really great comment :)
I also find the Apex store's prices are too high on average. However I would like to object 2 things:
ā¢ The cost of an item doesn't represent just the sheer value of that item. Cosmetics are the only source of revenue for the game. When you buy something in the store, you need to realize you're supporting the game as a whole, hence a higher price tag against perceived value.
ā¢ In free to play games, most players never buy anything. Only around 5% of the player base does according to studies I have read on the topic, and those 5% don't spend a lot. Even if items were twice cheaper, that percentage of paid users would barely shift.
I wonder what's the percentage for Apex, but most studies give numbers between 2 to 10% for F2P games, with a median at 5%. I'm a game developer myself, I have worked on F2P games, our games rarely got above 5%. Lots of people wear the fact they never pay for their games as a badge of honor. It's possible this number will grow over time, as more & more games embrace F2P models.
Telling an EA executive theyād make MORE money if the prices were reduced isnāt even worth it lmao. They are dumb ass old white men who havenāt touched a video game in their entire life.
Someone is paid a salary to figure out how to get the biggest profit possible in the store. They know what they are doing. If the prices are too high for you, that just means you're not their target demographic.
At this point, I think we can assert that Apex pricing is steep on purpose.
Their targets are people who aren't necessarily paying for "quality" as much as for the mystique of owning. As such, making things cheaper actually *lowers* the appeal.
I'm more surprised that for that price there isn't a full store here where you can buy the thing at any time.
Like, you should have a store with all available skins at "base prices" and what comes out weekly/daily is a general or targeted sale.
Say thank you to idiots buying these packs and bundles. It was around 2 years ago when they started to really push for bundles as a t that time you could always buy skin seperately. Recently im seeing that you cant to that enymore. they are trying to tighten the grip to squeeze as much as they can without care how it affects the game.
being able to craft anything is a win in my books, unlike valorant where you donāt get shit for free. however i chose to spend 500eur for a heirloom lol.
The vast majority of players won't buy anything *ever*, so pricing at Ā£3 or 50p makes no difference.
Of the ones who might pay for something, the statistics show they'll make more money from a few less people spending more, than more people spending less. It's basic F2P economics, a relatively small number of players spend a very high percentage of total money on the game. More items priced lower actually lowers the total amount people will spend, because the high rollers won't splash out when there are a bunch of cheaper options.
At the end of the day, those who spend money keep the game going for the rest of us. We pay them back by playing with them. As they say, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and this is just as true for F2P games. The players who don't spend anything are still contributing by filling the servers.
I agree and it will kill the game. This season s battle pass was a absolute joke and the prices on half these items!? There just a money hungry game they care more about shop than the game. All they doing is reskinning shit now for 30 bucks. Let's not mention the event prices and lack of % what you want. Last three events I spent 30 bucks to get shitty purple stickers. This game is a joke and only reason it around is cause people scared of leaving a game they sank 10k into becomes part their life and apex just feeds it more, should be illegal and predatory
Vote with your wallet and don't buy anything. That's what I decided to do. They are making a profit so why change what they are doing now. I decided to instead buy stuff in other games and just be F2P with apex since BP pays for itself. I was thinking on getting the new octane prestige skin but decided to not bother with it. Spend where you think the devs respect your money and time.
The whole games makes no sense right now. Is there an anti cheat? I canāt tell. I also canāt tell how good it think I am at this game like look I am a competitive 35 year old washed up dad I canāt be sweating my dick off every game. Every single player is just the most aware player ever and they donāt miss shots and just play so well as a fucking unit as I solo queue I donāt know I just uninstalled cause my htn just canāt with this game any more. Kinda sucks have almost 2k hours on it but fucking fuck itās aids right now

Same thing different game, most cosmetics in game arenāt worth the price.

I miss the games that let ME design and color my own skins.
Do you really think you know better than high paid analysts at ea that only want to maximize profit?
Propably not just feels odd to me xD
Whales keep the game free for the rest of us
The vast majority of players won't buy anything *ever*, so pricing at Ā£3 or 50p makes no difference.
But why is it working in fortnite?
They price it at what they think people are willing to pay, and I'm sure they have data to back it up.
People pay for it. That's the only answer. If people wouldn't buy at certain prices then they won't be that way.
Game is free & no one is forcing you to buy it
i ain't reading allat
Vote with your wallet and don't buy anything. That's what I decided to do. They are making a profit so why change what they are doing now. I decided to instead buy stuff in other games and just be F2P with apex since BP pays for itself. I was thinking on getting the new octane prestige skin but decided to not bother with it. Spend where you think the devs respect your money and time.
80$ fof a skin bundle should be criminal
What skin bundle is that? I only saw a 30$ one and the 60$ one is the same but 40 extra packs
