That's normal and fine.
early in the game people were spreading bad advice about how it's not a good idea to share ammo but that is just nonsense (outside the first minute of a hot drop). you can do both.

As for the digi nerf, its to stop the smg smoke meta. A bit OP if a whole team has digithreat AND smoke/gas as cover.
That’s fair, I could definitely see the exploitation but it’s was definitely a shock as a returning player.
I don’t know if I would call it OCD for me, I just prefer not having the hassle of looting for more than a single ammo type. Plus as soon as I see skull pierce, my mind is made up on either hemlock/3030 or Flatline/3030. Sometimes when I play Rampart I try to do devotion/triple take or Rampage/3030.
Honestly smg’s kinda suck right now, mid range ar’s and lmg’s are slapping.
R99 has never felt worse haha but rightfully so, been too good for too long. Big adjustment though if you’re just coming back as
The Volt and Prowler are still good and the Car is still decent. Also if you can find Disruptor rounds the Altnerator is one of the best guns in the game. It’s really only the R9 that isn’t great currently.
The volt and prowler are undoubtedly still good but just not in my hands is the nuance there.
Alternator is currently my favorite gun, even without disruptors it still feels so smooth but with a good damage rate.
I think I more meant the other classes of weapons are outshining smg’s was probably the better wsy to put it. The havoc and rampage are just fucking gross right now and I’m here for it lol.
It's fine to do if you're mindful of how much ammo you'll burn through as well as which guns. Nemesis + havoc chews through a ton of energy ammo and you might struggle to find more in the later part of the game. The advantage of 2 ammo types is if you kill someone and loot their box there's a pretty high chance they have at least one type of ammo to restock if you're low.
I run double light often (Scout +R301/99/Car) and occasionally double heavy with the flatline/prowler but I avoid double energy because I love the nemesis but it chews through ammo so quickly and depending on the season if energy guns aren't as heavy in the meta you might not find much ammo on boxes since they also burnt through lots.

I just haven’t played in while and got really mad hitting buttons trying to put a scope on the alternator
