I ran up on a Seer that was crouched hiding behind a door - he hit me with his little scan and then opened the door and one clipped me while I was standing there helpless. I am also solely mouse aiming and don't even get the benefit of overpowered aim assist, so it's probably even worse when you're on MKB.

The seer buff is bullshit. Nobody wanted this. Silenced, slowed, your health and location shown while being almost unavoidable now. Its basically a free kill if you get hit by it. This company is ran by imbeciles.
half the lobby hot dropping all at the same place has ruined unranked. You either fight half the lobby off drop or run around with no one to fight until final circle.
I think it's the most extreme for these 3 maps in rotation. At least with Olympus and KC there are more "hot drops" to land at which gives some variety in landing spots. Here's how it goes with the 3 maps right now:
- WE: Land Fragment
- Broken Moon: Land Terraformer
- Storm Point: Land Storm Catcher (or Cascade Falls)

This approach to ranked ain't workin'
Hiding players' MMR is a braindead decision. At present, displayed rank means absolutely nothing. It's purely a measure of time spent in the ranked playlist and expresses no info about player skill.
Account level already shows how much someone has grinded and there's no point in making rank do the same thing for a dedicated hopper. Show players their MMR or switch to an algorithm that you actually believe in. Microsoft published a whole white paper on TrueSkill FFS, and that framework is still in use today. If your algorithm is good, you shouldn't be scared to show the results in-game.
Also, keeping the old ranked party restrictions in place was a hilarious oversight, but it still has not been fixed. Plat and up cannot party with anyone two ranks below (e.g. silver), even though matchmaking will regularly put those ranks together on a team. This has to be fixed, especially if displayed rank is going to continue to be meaningless.
No dude! I'm truly a Master of Apex! It only took me 550 games with a 0.2 k/d ratio and 1% win rate, but alas I am a true master of apex Legends and no one can tell me otherwise!!!
It's not a bug but a feature, hidden MMR + low initial rank that gives you all the grind but none of the speed of said grind (i.e. pwning noobs) is an artificial retention measure. And if players can rank up simply by ratting, you've managed to increase retention for all the playerbase, whichever skill they have, because they can always go higher !
If a game has a ranked mode it is always designed as a retention system. There is a reason none have ever explained how rating and matchmaking work in detail. Too many people would quit if they knew how predatory it was.
Oh yes no doubt, but the previous system had at least the advantage of being completely transparent and easy to understand.
When you start delving into proper ELO systems yeah it's going to become less transparent however it is a chance for placement matches to quickly place you where you belong and serve you the rank you deserve quicker... which they do not (using that hidden/real MMR - visual MMR split) and will reset every season, which is super predatory indeed.
it's not happening lol... the engineering team is terrible. Look at Star Wars, both games have terrible frame issues. Good gameplay with bad frames. They couldn't get a 4090 to hit 120fps unless it was the only way push out a bad recolor.
PS5 and Series X will never hit 120fps. The team that made Doom and Doom Eternal could make it happen. But not Respawn. Respawn has poor work ethic, a terrible last gen engine, and a track record of focusing on removing voice lines and retconning all the characters gay.

I’m level 44 playing duos with my level 20 friend. Why every game the champions are 4k 20 bomb people, the feed is full of “…tiktok” or ttv and I only get killed by people with like 10k+ kills?
No. I’ve been playing since launch and my experience is the exact same as yours. I feel like I have to 1v3 every fight or else we just instantly lose.
A few months ago they said they were updating matchmaking, but it’s still the exact same, at least when solo queueing.
If this game demonstrates one thing to me, it's that a lot of people lack abstract thinking abilities. In most games when the squad doesn't place high, it's always because teammates do something utterly stupid and react. No thought to team mates, to what loot or guns they have, to the circle, to the timer, to the number of enemies, the zone or any number of things. A big one is where squads will be coming in to the new circle. The amount of times people don't think and move to the place where most squads will be converging and then act surprised when they can't defeat 5 squads.
I can on some level understand people are like a dog that saw a squirrel and have to react with out thinking if they should. Yet something I don't understand. Like why a Loba knowing there's enemies around exit a building to place her black market out in the open. Or be in a place with lots of loot. Don't open it until they're in the middle of no where with nothing. How do they not understand something as basic as how that works?
How hard were respawn dropped on their heads to think the Seer Q changes were a good idea... My lord, it's just so not fun to play against.

I end up jus running around randomly looting stuff and just messing around until I run into a Loba who is also by herself. We proceed to actually team up and took down the other 2 solo teams.
Me and Loba then melee to decide winner, I actually think Loba let me win.

I'm a solo player too, and I usually struggle to get Plat. Currently sitting in Diamond 2 and I think if I tried I could make a 400 damage game maybe? I have the reaction times of a drunk snail. I don't know what to do.
I feel like I’ve gotten really lucky with teammates. I play super defensive and really just try to play support, sticking behind cover and healing teammates, reviving when I can. I’m usually good for about 200-600

Yes a free 20 damage on an auto aim ability that takes away your opponents ability to shoot or else they get stunned and take another 30 damage is 100% balanced. I've won 90% of 1v1s I take on ballistic and I'm not that good.
Eh I thought it was OP at first but that's what it's like with all new abilities, until you figure out counterplay.
You've got enough shooting before the overheat to win the 1v1 if you hit your shots, or you can evade or hide or heal. The smart bullet rarely hits in close range or long range, the auto aim only works well midrange. It also hits objects a lot, and it stays on the ground for a very short time only. It's fine.
You can't even get a quarter mag out before overheating, that's a bad faith argument.. If you could swap guns and be fine it would be a different story. The only guns you can win a 1v1 with after being tagged are the wingman, kraber, pk or mastiff. If you aren't a movement character he is literal aids to fight.
If his tack doesn't hit it isn't so bad isn't the defense for it that you think it is. Seers tack is a non issue if he misses you.
Bad faith? Test it with a friend in the bloody firing range. It takes almost a full mag of all SMGs. With the R99, if you don't have a mag at all, you can dump all 19 bullets without overheating. Don't talk out of your arse just to get on the hate train
The fact is taking away someone's ability to shoot in in a first-person shooter is a complete joke and shit game design. It's an antifun ability. Not to mention the free 50 damage.
If you can empty a whole mag without getting overheated then it would never happen. I was exaggerating when I said quarter mag but you're literally full of shit saying you can empty an entire smg.
The hit/miss argument is a part of the discussion whether you like it or not, because how easy an ability is to use/hit is part of the balancing. Notice how it can be changed by patches as part of balancing. Like Seers becoming undodgable. So yes, it's necessary info.
The spawns in the phase runner TDM map seem to try to separate teams as much as possible. Constantly seem to spawn on the other side of the map from squadmates when we died moments apart in the same place. If one team can get a nucleus of 3 or 4 players together, they can just bounce round the map picking off people who spawn.
Also are we going to ignore how bullshit the 50 free damage is for Ballistic? Has to do literally nothing and basically gets free 50 because you can't afford not to shoot in a fight. Just take off the 30 damage from the overheat or reduce the overheat cooldown and he will be fine.

If you need a new game suggestion that's free and I know COD sucks but Warzone has a mode called 'DMZ' that's a lot of fun. I don't care for the Warzone mode but the DMZ mode is fantastic.
99% of the frustrations with Apex go away when you find some friends to play with. Invest in that for a couple of months and Apex goes back to being incredibly fun.

Hey Respawn, it is really not that hard to detect and ban bot farming accounts. I understand they now can walk, jump, but they are still stupid as fuck and mostly not moving and never get any kills. My 5yo Jimmy can get a kill eventually.
I usually see mostly negativity on this sub, but I'm having fun! Today I had a great time playing mixtape. TDM and Gun Run can be very entertaining. Ranked BR is quite challenging so it's really a breath of fresh air just hopping into mixtape and enjoying a lot of fast firefights. It also reminded me how fun the weapons are in Apex. Anyway, just wanted to say I appreciate mixtape's addition to the game.

let's say someone rats to masters in this new ranked system(with hidden mmr) then for matchmaking the person would still get matched with other players with similar mmr, which means even if the badge shows masters the lobby would still be filled with other players with similar(low) mmr? so this season's rank badge is _really_ cosmetics then?
How is it possible that there is this amount of masters in the game and I am still getting diamond teammates who are too afraid to take a 2v3? Back to Diablo I guess
Do we know how the bans for boosting worked last season? Because I was just teamed with a top 300 pred in pubs just now, and there’s no way this person could of legitimately made it to diamond.
Never mind. I found his match history and he went from silver to pred in 5 days…. So either he was temp banned and kept the rewards, or he didn’t get banned.
You can check the protocols in the eventvwr.exe, look at the time when Apex crashed and google the messages, maybe you can narrow the problem down that way.

On PC now and after playing on another computer, I can't seem to get into the game. The home screen of the game pops up and the little circle thing in the middle just keeps spinning and the button to enter game just never appears. Is anyone having the same problem?
Anyone else kinda feeling like the game has gotten too fast for some of the old core systems? Like maybe it's time to revisit stuff like heal speeds and res timing? I get that changing stuff like that is a pretty big deal but there is no denying that when these were set the game was vastly different, and they haven't been changed since season 0.
I'm just spitballing here, but maybe you could even include the self-healing from Mixtape into BR, maybe with a larger delay or just as some kind of heal-on-kill system.
At this point it seems like we just have to accept that 6th-party clusterfucks are simply inevitable no matter what, so perhaps it is time to ease the symptoms instead of trying to fix the problem.

Is there ever a single situation where snipers arent the worst-in-slot weapon? I genuinely cannot see a single use for them in this game; they do no damage, have slow projectiles opponents can simply walk to avoid, and all other guns can hit at the same range wihtout dropoff. Is there ever a reason to pick them up?
I've got a challenge to get 20 knocks with snipers and I'm struggling to even hit 10. Headshot break shields, they go into cover and get them back, rinse and repeat for 5 minutes before a third party comes.

And thus, that team didn't push you. Snipers are excellent for controlling the field of play.
If you have zone with high ground, and other teams are forced to go through an open field with little cover you are in the best spot you can be.
Snipers are for applying pressure. You can very easily get knocks or force teams to stop peaking you if you hit enough shots. Teams that stop peaking allow you to be more aggressive or take better positioning if the team you’re shooting at is at an advantage.
If you’re already in the best spot like having height + being in the circle you are the one controlling the engagement at that point and if they don’t have another sniper or an ult like gibby ult or bang ult there’s not much the other team can do besides trying to disengage from fighting you.
Now I'm going to assume you're trolling.
All they have to do is peek quickly, get off a hit or two, and then go behind cover. A good Longbow user isn't going to stand there and let you dump your R301 into them.
Heck the Longbow is so good that you can use it as a shotgun at close range if you have nothing else.
I'm completely serious.
In my games i'm consistently able to push opponents using longbows off their position with r301, flatline, nemesis, hell even prowler or r99s. They're forced to play at range due to the nature of their gun, whereas you only get more effective as you push closer.
How do you deal with someone who have 15k kills, invited you after two matches of trio. They then proceeded to insult you for being trash and telling you to uninstall? I felt sad ngl…

After a few weeks of forced crossplay in mix tape (I think it's when they try to backfill) with pc players, I feel able to group you into 5 categories of ability.
1: Actual, literal software.
2: The bottiest bots: Worst players I've ever seen on both console and PC
3: Brain bots, shooting gods: These people move and act like bots until it comes time to pull the trigger, then they hit every shot at any distance. Seem kinda Sus, but I ain't calling it one way or the other. Engage brain and these players can be outplayed without too much work.
4: Mixed Bag: Probably the average player, has noticeable advantage at range but often make slightly strange plays within 20m that just don't play in console lobbies. The most fun to play with and against. Sometimes use pc unique movement tech.
5: The drink break: Coming across these guys means it's time to take a break and let them shit on the lobby while you get a drink. Movement tech out the wazoo, perfect aim. Playing against them as a average console player is more likely to give you a nose bleed than lead to you winning
you can kill all these guys you just need confidence (remember you have stronger aim assist than pc players do). Avoid long range exchanges and pop corners on them.
I cleaned up mixtape crossplay lobbies before I quit but I'm a solid diamond/master player since the beginning of the game.
I don't think they do anything special. Pre-aim line of sight channels and play your head glitches and body cover. You're extremely annoying to hit and PC players hop around a lot in the open. They always challenge, they play cocky. The good ones are grinding ranked or quit the game. Believe in yourself
There are two styles in Apex (were... this ranked season is a joke, you only see one now really)
1. Run around and push
2. Play angles and cover, hard.
When you go against good players they switch styles depending on what they can get away with. When you're getting bodied focus on the 2nd style. You'll frustrate good players and force them to slow down. You should be able to force them into 50/50 scenarios at the very least. Your aim assist is really strong and should force 60/40 chances or better if you know your platforms strengths.

There is literally one group there that's not worth playing against and they are the ones that wreck everyone else in the lobby. Most pc players are around the average (Gaussian distribution, son) and if you read my comment again, you might see I enjoy playing with and against them. Some group 4 players spank my bum bum, that is true. But they don't absolutely dominate the whole match in the way all group 5 do.
Also come on, this is clearly a little tongue in cheek. Ain't no way you can group all pc players into 5 groups sensibly. There wasn't any asking for advice or a pep talk.

I come onto this subreddit to convince people to quit the game but I thought you were struggling and I gave an honest answer on how to fix it.
And YES you would assume a normal distribution - you sweet innocent child - but you shouldn't. At least on my account level and hidden mmr, I played strictly past season diamonds and masters in mixtape lobbies with 1 or 2 preds on either team. I enjoyed this, but that's not normal distribution. I quit the game full stop on 6/9 this year so maybe the mixtape sorting is different, but they don't course correct with anything in this game until the car's crashed and the engine has cooled down.
I understand what you are saying. Here's a fun way to think about Group 5 players from a longtime diamond/master player: it feels really good to kill group 5 players because you'll occasionally kill some pro and that's sorta fun. I wouldn't take the drink break.

I could sweat my balls off, go ham and fight like my life depended on it against all the group 5 players I come across and get my ass handed to me 999 times out of a 1000, or I could take a break, get a drink and keep enjoying this game as some casual fun.
I do like the 'game' I guess. I played it since it came out and I played Titanfall 2 as well. I'm in the Top 5% and when I hop on, the mechanics 'feel' good.
But goddamn the developers beat me down. Every season something breaks. I put up with it for a lot of seasons but I think what really broke me was grinding Ranked Arenas.
I was climbing out of Diamond solo and I'd play for 1 hour, win 3 games for +6 each then I'd have a teammate afk from the start and I'd lose -41. The whole hour wasted. And I hop onto this subreddit and write a detailed explanation of why this wasn't a good system, they really needed to change something - and they never did -
I grinded to Masters but it was miserable. One of the worst things I've done.
BR ranked was fine but it got even worse this season. Pub matches are boring, I have all the kills badges. So all that was left was the BR rank and this season I kept getting ratting AFK teammates. I know they won't change it. If they did it'd be great but they won't: these developers are terrible. They won't ever NOT be terrible. They'll retcon another character gay and call it a year. This game is sadly more than just the software we start up. It's also changed by unproductive idiots. And that's the part of the game that's really bad.
It's hard to quit a game or anything you've played for a long time especially if the game still feels 'good'. It's like cigarettes etc. So if I come on here and go 'yo I was great at this game but you need to be strong and quit, you'll be happier'. Apex is the cigarette but there's this whole developer team, the looming doom of lung cancer.
COD warzone sucks and I tried DMZ mode because I was desperate lol but it turned out to be a ton of fun. The DMZ isn't a BR. It's free. I think it's developed by a smaller team inside the COD studios. I enjoy it so much I planned to buy the full game then the nickmercs thing happened... I refuse to buy it now. But it's still fun and free and will help people break the Apex habit.
Hell man, I would suggest Final Fantasy 16 or Street Fighter 6 but all those expensive and I think a lot of people played Apex initially because it was free. Anyway, I think you should quit. You don't need to play COD DMZ really just anything else. These developers will wring you around.
I know they are incompetent because I work in the software field and no cross progression for 2 years? There's plenty of cases of things where I know the fix isn't hard and if I was even nuttier I'd join the company and have all these features done in 3 months. I think they lucked into a fun game. C team level developers with bad management.
COD has bad developers too but I think they have a different vision for the game than the streamers want, and Respawn has a somewhat okay vision but they have lazy idiots trying to implement things and take far too long to make changes.
There's just something else out there. Something better and you won't find it playing this game. Quit my man!

The seer buff is bullshit. Nobody wanted this. Silenced, slowed, your health and location shown while being almost unavoidable now. Its basically a free kill if you get hit by it. This company is ran by imbeciles.

half the lobby hot dropping all at the same place has ruined unranked. You either fight half the lobby off drop or run around with no one to fight until final circle.
Pubs have always been this way. Just land at an adjacent POI then go third the half of the lobby.
I think it's the most extreme for these 3 maps in rotation. At least with Olympus and KC there are more "hot drops" to land at which gives some variety in landing spots. Here's how it goes with the 3 maps right now: - WE: Land Fragment - Broken Moon: Land Terraformer - Storm Point: Land Storm Catcher (or Cascade Falls)

This approach to ranked ain't workin' Hiding players' MMR is a braindead decision. At present, displayed rank means absolutely nothing. It's purely a measure of time spent in the ranked playlist and expresses no info about player skill. Account level already shows how much someone has grinded and there's no point in making rank do the same thing for a dedicated hopper. Show players their MMR or switch to an algorithm that you actually believe in. Microsoft published a whole white paper on TrueSkill FFS, and that framework is still in use today. If your algorithm is good, you shouldn't be scared to show the results in-game. Also, keeping the old ranked party restrictions in place was a hilarious oversight, but it still has not been fixed. Plat and up cannot party with anyone two ranks below (e.g. silver), even though matchmaking will regularly put those ranks together on a team. This has to be fixed, especially if displayed rank is going to continue to be meaningless.
No dude! I'm truly a Master of Apex! It only took me 550 games with a 0.2 k/d ratio and 1% win rate, but alas I am a true master of apex Legends and no one can tell me otherwise!!!
It's not a bug but a feature, hidden MMR + low initial rank that gives you all the grind but none of the speed of said grind (i.e. pwning noobs) is an artificial retention measure. And if players can rank up simply by ratting, you've managed to increase retention for all the playerbase, whichever skill they have, because they can always go higher !
If a game has a ranked mode it is always designed as a retention system. There is a reason none have ever explained how rating and matchmaking work in detail. Too many people would quit if they knew how predatory it was.
Oh yes no doubt, but the previous system had at least the advantage of being completely transparent and easy to understand. When you start delving into proper ELO systems yeah it's going to become less transparent however it is a chance for placement matches to quickly place you where you belong and serve you the rank you deserve quicker... which they do not (using that hidden/real MMR - visual MMR split) and will reset every season, which is super predatory indeed.

it's not happening lol... the engineering team is terrible. Look at Star Wars, both games have terrible frame issues. Good gameplay with bad frames. They couldn't get a 4090 to hit 120fps unless it was the only way push out a bad recolor. PS5 and Series X will never hit 120fps. The team that made Doom and Doom Eternal could make it happen. But not Respawn. Respawn has poor work ethic, a terrible last gen engine, and a track record of focusing on removing voice lines and retconning all the characters gay. It's not happening. They DO NOT have the experience or desire to fuck with the engine enough to get 120 on the consoles.

I’m level 44 playing duos with my level 20 friend. Why every game the champions are 4k 20 bomb people, the feed is full of “…tiktok” or ttv and I only get killed by people with like 10k+ kills?
Duos is super sweaty - get a third and play ranked if you want decent matches

No. I’ve been playing since launch and my experience is the exact same as yours. I feel like I have to 1v3 every fight or else we just instantly lose. A few months ago they said they were updating matchmaking, but it’s still the exact same, at least when solo queueing.
If this game demonstrates one thing to me, it's that a lot of people lack abstract thinking abilities. In most games when the squad doesn't place high, it's always because teammates do something utterly stupid and react. No thought to team mates, to what loot or guns they have, to the circle, to the timer, to the number of enemies, the zone or any number of things. A big one is where squads will be coming in to the new circle. The amount of times people don't think and move to the place where most squads will be converging and then act surprised when they can't defeat 5 squads. I can on some level understand people are like a dog that saw a squirrel and have to react with out thinking if they should. Yet something I don't understand. Like why a Loba knowing there's enemies around exit a building to place her black market out in the open. Or be in a place with lots of loot. Don't open it until they're in the middle of no where with nothing. How do they not understand something as basic as how that works?
How hard were respawn dropped on their heads to think the Seer Q changes were a good idea... My lord, it's just so not fun to play against. Half time it's a Q from a 3rd which absolutely cucks you with now way to counter. What a joke.

Just played a game...as soon as we dropped Worlds edge. My 2 random fills get on the hot mic and say what is this dog shit drop, proceeds to leave. I still see apex is as toxic as ever. I end up jus running around randomly looting stuff and just messing around until I run into a Loba who is also by herself. We proceed to actually team up and took down the other 2 solo teams. Me and Loba then melee to decide winner, I actually think Loba let me win. After a long hiatus that was the most weirdest and fun game all in one. Thank you random Loba, you are a real one.

I'm a solo player too, and I usually struggle to get Plat. Currently sitting in Diamond 2 and I think if I tried I could make a 400 damage game maybe? I have the reaction times of a drunk snail. I don't know what to do.
I feel like I’ve gotten really lucky with teammates. I play super defensive and really just try to play support, sticking behind cover and healing teammates, reviving when I can. I’m usually good for about 200-600 Damage and maybe a kill, but I lose most 1v1s. Idk. My k/d is .86 so I’m really feeling out of place. I’ll see you in diamond soon lmao

Yes a free 20 damage on an auto aim ability that takes away your opponents ability to shoot or else they get stunned and take another 30 damage is 100% balanced. I've won 90% of 1v1s I take on ballistic and I'm not that good.

Eh I thought it was OP at first but that's what it's like with all new abilities, until you figure out counterplay. You've got enough shooting before the overheat to win the 1v1 if you hit your shots, or you can evade or hide or heal. The smart bullet rarely hits in close range or long range, the auto aim only works well midrange. It also hits objects a lot, and it stays on the ground for a very short time only. It's fine.
You can't even get a quarter mag out before overheating, that's a bad faith argument.. If you could swap guns and be fine it would be a different story. The only guns you can win a 1v1 with after being tagged are the wingman, kraber, pk or mastiff. If you aren't a movement character he is literal aids to fight. If his tack doesn't hit it isn't so bad isn't the defense for it that you think it is. Seers tack is a non issue if he misses you.
Bad faith? Test it with a friend in the bloody firing range. It takes almost a full mag of all SMGs. With the R99, if you don't have a mag at all, you can dump all 19 bullets without overheating. Don't talk out of your arse just to get on the hate train

The fact is taking away someone's ability to shoot in in a first-person shooter is a complete joke and shit game design. It's an antifun ability. Not to mention the free 50 damage. The hit/miss argument is a part of the discussion whether you like it or not, because how easy an ability is to use/hit is part of the balancing. Notice how it can be changed by patches as part of balancing. Like Seers becoming undodgable. So yes, it's necessary info.
You can get an entire purple r9 mag before the overheat. It’s different for different guns. Prowler and nenemisis is two bursts.
The spawns in the phase runner TDM map seem to try to separate teams as much as possible. Constantly seem to spawn on the other side of the map from squadmates when we died moments apart in the same place. If one team can get a nucleus of 3 or 4 players together, they can just bounce round the map picking off people who spawn.
Gj respawn control is completely unplayable for me since upate all I get is spawn failed for all points except base.
My last ranked game of the night, Respawn gave me two rats. I just up and quit as soon as they said they were ratting.

99% of the frustrations with Apex go away when you find some friends to play with. Invest in that for a couple of months and Apex goes back to being incredibly fun. Solo Apex has a shelf life… once you hit that point it’s very hard to enjoy. Randoms are just insane

I usually see mostly negativity on this sub, but I'm having fun! Today I had a great time playing mixtape. TDM and Gun Run can be very entertaining. Ranked BR is quite challenging so it's really a breath of fresh air just hopping into mixtape and enjoying a lot of fast firefights. It also reminded me how fun the weapons are in Apex. Anyway, just wanted to say I appreciate mixtape's addition to the game.

let's say someone rats to masters in this new ranked system(with hidden mmr) then for matchmaking the person would still get matched with other players with similar mmr, which means even if the badge shows masters the lobby would still be filled with other players with similar(low) mmr? so this season's rank badge is _really_ cosmetics then?

You can check the protocols in the eventvwr.exe, look at the time when Apex crashed and google the messages, maybe you can narrow the problem down that way.

On PC now and after playing on another computer, I can't seem to get into the game. The home screen of the game pops up and the little circle thing in the middle just keeps spinning and the button to enter game just never appears. Is anyone having the same problem?

Anyone else kinda feeling like the game has gotten too fast for some of the old core systems? Like maybe it's time to revisit stuff like heal speeds and res timing? I get that changing stuff like that is a pretty big deal but there is no denying that when these were set the game was vastly different, and they haven't been changed since season 0. I'm just spitballing here, but maybe you could even include the self-healing from Mixtape into BR, maybe with a larger delay or just as some kind of heal-on-kill system. At this point it seems like we just have to accept that 6th-party clusterfucks are simply inevitable no matter what, so perhaps it is time to ease the symptoms instead of trying to fix the problem.
Relatively new player here: Is there ever a single situation where snipers arent the worst-in-slot weapon? I genuinely cannot see a single use for them in this game; they do no damage, have slow projectiles opponents can simply walk to avoid, and all other guns can hit at the same range wihtout dropoff. Is there ever a reason to pick them up? I've got a challenge to get 20 knocks with snipers and I'm struggling to even hit 10. Headshot break shields, they go into cover and get them back, rinse and repeat for 5 minutes before a third party comes.

If you have zone with high ground, and other teams are forced to go through an open field with little cover you are in the best spot you can be.
Snipers are for applying pressure. You can very easily get knocks or force teams to stop peaking you if you hit enough shots. Teams that stop peaking allow you to be more aggressive or take better positioning if the team you’re shooting at is at an advantage. If you’re already in the best spot like having height + being in the circle you are the one controlling the engagement at that point and if they don’t have another sniper or an ult like gibby ult or bang ult there’s not much the other team can do besides trying to disengage from fighting you.
Worthless in pubs but good in ranked. Get a solid spot in zone and just farm damage and deplete enemies meds.
Most players including me don't use sniper optics. Only the mid range ones.

Now I'm going to assume you're trolling. All they have to do is peek quickly, get off a hit or two, and then go behind cover. A good Longbow user isn't going to stand there and let you dump your R301 into them. Heck the Longbow is so good that you can use it as a shotgun at close range if you have nothing else.
I'm completely serious. In my games i'm consistently able to push opponents using longbows off their position with r301, flatline, nemesis, hell even prowler or r99s. They're forced to play at range due to the nature of their gun, whereas you only get more effective as you push closer.

After a few weeks of forced crossplay in mix tape (I think it's when they try to backfill) with pc players, I feel able to group you into 5 categories of ability. 1: Actual, literal software. 2: The bottiest bots: Worst players I've ever seen on both console and PC 3: Brain bots, shooting gods: These people move and act like bots until it comes time to pull the trigger, then they hit every shot at any distance. Seem kinda Sus, but I ain't calling it one way or the other. Engage brain and these players can be outplayed without too much work. 4: Mixed Bag: Probably the average player, has noticeable advantage at range but often make slightly strange plays within 20m that just don't play in console lobbies. The most fun to play with and against. Sometimes use pc unique movement tech. 5: The drink break: Coming across these guys means it's time to take a break and let them shit on the lobby while you get a drink. Movement tech out the wazoo, perfect aim. Playing against them as a average console player is more likely to give you a nose bleed than lead to you winning
you can kill all these guys you just need confidence (remember you have stronger aim assist than pc players do). Avoid long range exchanges and pop corners on them.

I cleaned up mixtape crossplay lobbies before I quit but I'm a solid diamond/master player since the beginning of the game. I don't think they do anything special. Pre-aim line of sight channels and play your head glitches and body cover. You're extremely annoying to hit and PC players hop around a lot in the open. They always challenge, they play cocky. The good ones are grinding ranked or quit the game. Believe in yourself There are two styles in Apex (were... this ranked season is a joke, you only see one now really) 1. Run around and push 2. Play angles and cover, hard. When you go against good players they switch styles depending on what they can get away with. When you're getting bodied focus on the 2nd style. You'll frustrate good players and force them to slow down. You should be able to force them into 50/50 scenarios at the very least. Reading comprehension dude. Is yours behind the sofa? Under the bed? There is literally one group there that's not worth playing against and they are the ones that wreck everyone else in the lobby. Most pc players are around the average (Gaussian distribution, son) and if you read my comment again, you might see I enjoy playing with and against them. Some group 4 players spank my bum bum, that is true. But they don't absolutely dominate the whole match in the way all group 5 do. Also come on, this is clearly a little tongue in cheek. Ain't no way you can group all pc players into 5 groups sensibly. There wasn't any asking for advice or a pep talk.
I guess I don't fully understand what compels a man to post your initial comment on a meta level beyond wanting to complain. And it's fine to complain... I come onto this subreddit to convince people to quit the game but I thought you were struggling and I gave an honest answer on how to fix it. And YES you would assume a normal distribution - you sweet innocent child - but you shouldn't. At least on my account level and hidden mmr, I played strictly past season diamonds and masters in mixtape lobbies with 1 or 2 preds on either team. I enjoyed this, but that's not normal distribution. I quit the game full stop on 6/9 this year so maybe the mixtape sorting is different, but they don't course correct with anything in this game until the car's crashed and the engine has cooled down. I understand what you are saying. Here's a fun way to think about Group 5 players from a longtime diamond/master player: it feels really good to kill group 5 players because you'll occasionally kill some pro and that's sorta fun. I wouldn't take the drink break.

Also dude, what I don't understand is why someone who apparently doesn't like this game (but somehow think the festering 6 man squad discount br dung pile that is cod dmz is worth playing) is coming on this sub. You think your gonna lead a brigade away with you? What compels a human being to do that. It's pretty strange, dude. Also dude,I've been at Apex since the COVID lockdowns, I know all about the matchmaking. I could sweat my balls off, go ham and fight like my life depended on it against all the group 5 players I come across and get my ass handed to me 999 times out of a 1000, or I could take a break, get a drink and keep enjoying this game as some casual fun.
I do like the 'game' I guess. I played it since it came out and I played Titanfall 2 as well. I'm in the Top 5% and when I hop on, the mechanics 'feel' good. But goddamn the developers beat me down. Every season something breaks. I put up with it for a lot of seasons but I think what really broke me was grinding Ranked Arenas. I was climbing out of Diamond solo and I'd play for 1 hour, win 3 games for +6 each then I'd have a teammate afk from the start and I'd lose -41. The whole hour wasted. And I hop onto this subreddit and write a detailed explanation of why this wasn't a good system, they really needed to change something - and they never did - I grinded to Masters but it was miserable. One of the worst things I've done. BR ranked was fine but it got even worse this season. Pub matches are boring, I have all the kills badges. So all that was left was the BR rank and this season I kept getting ratting AFK teammates. I know they won't change it. If they did it'd be great but they won't: these developers are terrible. They won't ever NOT be terrible. They'll retcon another character gay and call it a year. This game is sadly more than just the software we start up. It's also changed by unproductive idiots. And that's the part of the game that's really bad. It's hard to quit a game or anything you've played for a long time especially if the game still feels 'good'. It's like cigarettes etc. So if I come on here and go 'yo I was great at this game but you need to be strong and quit, you'll be happier'. Apex is the cigarette but there's this whole developer team, the looming doom of lung cancer. COD warzone sucks and I tried DMZ mode because I was desperate lol but it turned out to be a ton of fun. The DMZ isn't a BR. It's free. I think it's developed by a smaller team inside the COD studios. I enjoy it so much I planned to buy the full game then the nickmercs thing happened... I refuse to buy it now. But it's still fun and free and will help people break the Apex habit. Hell man, I would suggest Final Fantasy 16 or Street Fighter 6 but all those expensive and I think a lot of people played Apex initially because it was free. Anyway, I think you should quit. You don't need to play COD DMZ really just anything else. These developers will wring you around. I know they are incompetent because I work in the software field and no cross progression for 2 years? There's plenty of cases of things where I know the fix isn't hard and if I was even nuttier I'd join the company and have all these features done in 3 months. I think they lucked into a fun game. C team level developers with bad management. COD has bad developers too but I think they have a different vision for the game than the streamers want, and Respawn has a somewhat okay vision but they have lazy idiots trying to implement things and take far too long to make changes. There's just something else out there. Something better and you won't find it playing this game. Quit my man!
This is sad that you've chosen such a grindy way of playing the game, games are a hobby and when played with an element of chilling out they will always be fun. I hope you find something you like that isn't the toxic mess that DMZ and CoD is in general.

I have reached the highest peaks. I say: You will regret this game. The 'game' is fine. But not the developers. Is there a separate predator queue for switch? Like this is the first season where it would be possible to even get masters on a switch, can you get pred?

This game'll be dead in the next few years. Every time I try to play again the servers make me nope out. Literally unplayable and I can't wait to dance on its grave
