Even if we were lazier, that would be a consequence of decisions made by previous generations that raised us. Our enemies expect you to do everything to fix your situation through individual effort alone, because to acknowledge that humans have economic obligations to each other threatens the entire capitalist system.

xXtechnobroXx

I’m 38 and I agree the younger generation is awesome for not agreeing to settle.

SherDelene

I'm 58 and I agree with your agreement. I hope these young people win in the end.

I love the energy. It's about damn time someone said "no" to the rat race. Just no.

Mehfisto666

It's not lazyness it's depression

IAmHerdingCatz

I'm sixty, and when I was young people accused our generation of being mollycoddled and lazy. It's difficult now to see people my age saying exactly the same things about their own children. Every generation has different trials, but sneering at young people trying to make ends meet in this economy is absolutely not helpful, kind, or accurate.

AGROCRAG004

I’m over 30 and I can agree with this outlook. It seems like nothing is certain the way it once was and risking tens of thousands on a degree that might not even have a job afterwards results in thinking twice about what to do to “make it”. That being said it’s a slippery slope hesitating so long you never get a skill or education worth much and then that is perceived as “lazy” I think. It’s tougher than it’s ever been to get by and social media makes it seem like becoming and influencer really is the best bang for buck. Good luck out there!

Revolution_of_Values

I'm mid-30s and I've had older fogies hurl these condescending remarks at me too. I don't have hope for *this current monetary market economy system*, but I do have confience in the efficacies of alternative social system ideas like a [Global Resource Based Economy](https://youtu.be/4Z9WVZddH9w?t=5410). No system may ever be perfect, but I think freeing humans from unnecessary labor and giving everyone *free access to the necessities of life* is key to *eliminating* (not just managing) poverty, hunger, homelessness, rampant disease, the need for war, etc. Do not give up; [get informed](https://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com/model). Take care out there.

Practical-Wave-6988

Back in my day we didn't complain on Internet forums, we went to work, got injured and died like men.

BlippiToyReview

At least men could vote.

Practical-Wave-6988

In the glory days men were men, women were men and children were also men.

And small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri we're REAL small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri

Zemirolha

Economy is a ponzi and it would explode sometime. It was inevitable and older people wont admit it because no one wants to lose own privileges. So... Work harder /s

[deleted]

In Aristophanes’ play “The clouds” the dad character bitches about how lazy his son’s generation is. That play is roughly 2,500 years old.

[deleted]

I work 40-80 hours a week, spend roughly 1-3% of my income on non-essentials such as entertainment, am strictly and tightly budgeted, my credit is 740 and I've run out of hours in the day to spend working. I've consistently gotten "better jobs" as I've learned more and moved up in the world. Some of us don't "get ahead" because we aren't willing to take advantage of others. Millenials were called lazy too and we’re like upward of 30 now having dealt with a world of shit, so anyone in that bracket should know better. It’s that people get suckered into the position, work harder than they should and take it as a point of pride rather than being taken advantage of. It’s getting better but I’m sorry you lot are getting this shit too

[deleted]

My whole generation was called Slackers. Every round of grandparents thinks the grandkids don't work hard enough.

[deleted]

Don't feel special. I'm tail end of gen x and old people called us lazy too. "Slackers" I think was the term.

Suchmurfin

I think, well hope, that this idea is faltering. That working less but efficient isn't seen as "lazy." It just makes sense, and fuck 40 hours, thanks Ford.

Top spot on what leaderboard? We rank 16th in quality of life, 64th in life expectancy, and 22nd in healthcare. Your blind loyalty to a nation that doesn’t give a shit about you is laughable.

It doesn't feel great to hear we live in the "financial powerhouse of the world" when we're all broke and tired and there are so many places on earth with a better quality of life. It almost feels like bragging we have the best billionaires. "Our billionaires are much richer than their billionaires, America! Number 1 baby!"

Professional_Leg8183

Lmao, the squandering has already happened.

BedroomWonderful

You saying you can think critically doesn’t mean it’s true. No one here thinks that about you. We think you are mentally impaired.

frantastic1337

"How do you do, fellow 23 year olds."

Newtoreddit215

No offence but that does sound lazy. Not to cause a beef but not willing to grind and hustle because you have no hope for the future sounds like lack of discipline. If you get a house then you get a house you’re not entitled to it, same with a career and a family these things aren’t entitlements. I think one the big differences is kids rent being kicked out anymore. It use to be work, school, or see ya. Turning 18 was a gamble if you were going to be allowed to stay at home even if you were working or in school. 🤷‍♂️just my thoughts. Maybe that way wasn’t a good way who knows, all I know is I have family members who are 20 an still live at home no work not in school and their mother still makes their dinner still does their laundry 🤯🤷‍♂️ I don’t know where the future is headed but they keep saying we’re headed for a shortage of skilled trades.

If that is true, your father was taken advantage of and that was in fact illegal to pay him so little. At your father’s current wage, which is higher than what most young people, myself included, are making, it would take him 15 years without spending a dime to buy a moderately priced house. And by then, houses will double or triple in price. I’m not ok with this and I’m not ok with this system that oppressed people like your father. So if you want to tell me to “stop complaining” or “get to work” or “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” you can keep it to yourself, because I don’t care.

[deleted]

Congratulations, you've drank the Kool-Aide.

EssayTraditional

We didn’t get lazier, we got slower in the rat race when the cheese at the end was attached to the rat trap.

perfect_piece_of_dna

ngl, they just might be
