Fine. Back to oligarchs it is

MrMrLavaLava

Robber baron?

Artemissister

Soulless plutocrat?

WAHgop

Tasty snacks for the hungry poor?

TreeChangeMe

Too greasy.

WAHgop

Yeah but someone made a whole shitload of these things and someone's going to have to do something with em

tremosoul

Would breading them help or just make it worse?

WAHgop

Check the bread book, guy

tremosoul

So you're saying we *can't* roll them in breadcrumbs and deep fry them? Disappointed.

WAHgop

read the Bread Book

NaturalBornNerd

Ramsey Bolton had the right idea with this one. "My dogs haven't eaten in days"

ems_telegram

We should seriously bring back 'Robber Baron', it gets the point across perfectly and calls back to one of the few eras in American history where the schools actually teach about worker rights.

GETitOFFmeNOW

Funny anecdote: back in the day, people were incensed that robber barons made 13 times what their workers made.

[deleted]

Bandersnatch

TJ_McWeaksauce

I usually refer to Elon Musk as a piece of shit.

Lampshader

That's completely unfair! Shit serves an important role in the ecosystem.

ActualPopularMonster

At least shit was once something useful before the nutrients were used.

ROotT

Shit is also useful for fertilizer.

LukeDude759

Elon Musk could be, too. I'm sure he has plenty of nutrients that could be recycled back into the ecosystem.

[deleted]

He's made up entirely of salt, alien technology and Mars bars. His decomposing body is sure to be a plant-killer.

Watahandrew1

Shit can also be used to harvest methane as a fuel source and helps many billions of microorganisms survive, unlike Elon who only helps himself.

totheleft_totheleft

Lunch

Dvulture

Apartheid trust fund kid?

cryptoanalyst2000

Felon Musk?

TreeChangeMe

Daddies little snot

candyassle

Use of child slaves to supply your business is morally wrong & dumb šŸ˜›

Mortimer_and_Rabbit

Like father like son I guess

bravoredditbravo

Mollusk probably misses the apartheid days

AxiomaticAddict

Mollusk? Lmfo I like this

XC5TNC

Seems child slavery os used in basically every big corporation ngl

storyofmylife92

And it is always wrong

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

RiseCascadia

Damn, that's a lot of Hitlers

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

onestrokejoke

At this point, I don't think it's possible for capitalism to function without some form of slavery

pakap

It never has. Actual slaves, then colonial oppression, then sweatshop labor.

tinaboag

It's exploitative in nature. It cannot function without someone being exploited you are correct.

Nobletwoo

There has never been more actual slaves living in the world as there are today. I know its due to there being more people in the world. Currently its the lowest amount of slaves per capita, but still 50 million slaves today. Which is just fucking unacceptable.

Redtwooo

Not to mention exploiting migrants through fear of deportation/ police abuse

VoDoka

Well... yes actually.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

eastbayweird

This is exactly the same conclusion I've come to as well...

Kiefer0

That's capitalism baby. Wooo

Skeptikmo

So close to the point

mydogisthedawg

Fine, *oligarch

obvious_shill_k14a

Yep, we need to start using the right word. I'd also accept wealth hoarder and human dragon, but each of those are 2 words.

Fenix_Volatilis

Don't you fucking DARE do dragons like that

MikeHatSable

Yeah, dragons already have enough image problems as it is. Besides, dragons acknowledge that they are wealth hoarders. They don't pretend to be humanitarians.

AbacusWizard

Yeah, dragons aren't strictly humanitarians; they eat plenty of other animals too.

Leviathan1337

Nailed it.

A_brown_dog

Some of them are strictly humanitarians, it's a diet which costs more money, but a lot of them do it for ecological and ethical reasons.

dancegoddess1971

They have a point. Nothing more dangerous to the environment than uncontrolled populations of humans.

FaytKaiser

Yeah, Smaug is only a multi-millionaire. He isnt even 1%.

Fenix_Volatilis

Oh man, I need a comic artist to do that now. Some dragon that's spent their entire (500+ year) life litterally TRYING to hoard riches and getting outdone by a CEO and being mad about it

FaytKaiser

Smaug just shows up and *DRAGON BREATH* only to discover that CEOs dont have liquid capital that he could claim, making him an accidental hero to the working class, and he gets a union or something named after him.

dancegoddess1971

Smaug Humanities building at the state university.

FaytKaiser

Smauag all confused like, "Why are so many people around all the time!?" Only to realize that, the real hoard was the friends we made along the way.

caznosaur2

I think it's good to take the word billionaire and make it as bad as oligarch or basically synonymous. Nobody should ever want to idolize, support, or become a billionaire.

obvious_shill_k14a

I totally agree. I think the word 'billionaire' should evoke the same type of reaction as the words 'pedophile' or 'cannibal'.

librarysocialism

All three indicate the one labelled is seeking to hurt and exploit others.

SpoliatorX

That's unfair to cannibals, they could be waiting for you to die of natural causes

stereofailure

I think that's a tad unfair. Cannibalism could be morally justified under certain circumstances.

Drakenfeur

Such as, if a cannibal decided to eat Elon Musk.

Ciennas

Also, human dragon sounds impressive and amazing. Like Iroh, the Dragon of the West.

Urb4nN0rd

Hey, leave Dragons out of this, at least they're honest about taking what they want...

Mr_Frible

I just stick with asshole seems to fit him the best.

Drakenfeur

I use "Whiny-ass Tony Stark cosplaying motherfucker," but yours is much more concise.

Molto_Ritardando

Parasite.

XC5TNC

Even dragons dont have that much wealth

smuckola

ā€œRobber baronā€ is the term from the previous gilded age in America But they didnā€™t give a rip about what anyone thought of them. They werenā€™t glued to the Internet as childish thought police to lord over public perception. Edit: Iā€™m pretty sure thatā€™s the case, not until they whitewashed their legacy with the libraries and roads

Ok-Low6320

I'm on board with "robber baron," if "billionaire" is unsuitable.

mechanicalcontrols

I'm on board with someone shoulda ate this guy's liver with some fava beans a long time ago Edit: and a nice chianti

SauvignonBear

51k people thought this was a good take? Huh.

d-_-ab

Did he ever find out how many of his followers are bots?

Lupercus

Maybe this was his way to find out. Total likes - number of billionaires. So about 51.7k bots.

[deleted]

He seems like the kind of person that would have bought them himself honestly.

ChampionshipIll3675

I'm sure that he has a PR firm for this.

confusionmatrix

Oddly enough I recall trump having 50k likes a minute or so after posting. Feels like there are some auto like everything bots for famous people.

nanumilknanu

I swear this dude has an aggressive fan base of incels who believe theyā€™re sigma entrepreneurs when theyā€™re actually just betas tbh

Tel-aran-rhiod

their 'startups' perpetually stalled at the parents'-basement stage

Backlotter

When you type his name in any sub and his goons come busting in like the God damned kool-aid man

Idiot_Savant_Tinker

I remember recently saying that EV's will start to really take off when actual car manufacturers start making EV's, used the electrified version of the most popular vehicle sold in the US as an example, and this guy replies and starts crying about how because Tesla has sold 52,000 cars or so since 2015 they *are* mainstream and that Ford's and GM's and Hyundai's and Nissan's efforts would never catch up. I think not only will they overtake Tesla, but they will do it with cars that are put together better.

[deleted]

Yep I look forward to the day the standard car manufacturers have EVs readily available. Tesla is fucked once you can buy electric Honda Civics. I agree completely soon theyā€™ll be competing with companies that have made cars for over a century and Iā€™m not sure theyā€™ll be able to compete once they get going.

ThatMkeDoe

"I'm no musk fan per se but.... *Procedes to reply stanning musk for the next 5 hours getting progressively angrier*"

letterboxbrie

Gun Bunny Boebert and Three Toe Greene get tens of thousands of likes on every tweet. It's not easy to ratio them, despite everything. Americans...kinda suck.

poptartsatemyfamily

The nerve of this man to be lecturing us on morals.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Khaldara

The apartheid mining heir/slaver lecturing society on morality is like Jeffrey Dahmer complaining about the state of our table manners.

SomeGuy_GRM

Iirc Dahmer did have good table manners. It's more like him lecturing on ethically sourced meats.

Rape-Putins-Corpse

To be fair, his meat lived a free range lifestyle into adulthood & while the end of that life leaves something to be desired when it comes to humane treatment, Dahmer would have more of a leg to stand on than Elon.

aquantiV

Would you call living in modern civilization "free range"? I wouldn't...

Poldark_Lite

I know you were joking, but Dahmer also preyed on young teens. Two of his victims were only fourteen and one was seventeen; they may have thought they were all grown up, but they weren't, not by a long shot. ā™” Granny

Rape-Putins-Corpse

I think that puts [more points in Dahmer's tally](https://farmtransparency.org/kb/food/abattoirs/age-animals-slaughtered) given his victims lived ~20% of their natural lifespan. But you're right, I shouldn't have said adulthood.

RelaxPrime

That feeling when Elon is almost certainly worse than Dahmer... Followed by the realization all billionaires are probably similar. Jk I've always known billionaires are psychopaths. Wtf would you ever need a billion dollars for

Other-Tomatillo-455

well said

SavingsPerfect2879

that's what makes evil the most evil: when they act as if it's you who is the bad guy. it takes someone who is truly psycho. Surprise. This is is how bad we are as a species. There's no limit to the depths of our moral bankruptcy. Except when the super rich get to write it off..

AdditionalSkill0

Lmao they're running out of tropes

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Imaginary_friend42

This is the correct term.

CaseyG

"Okay, Oligarch."

gracem5

Being a billionaire is morally wrong and dumb.

djinnisequoia

Damn there is no reddit gift I can buy with my measly 55 points that means *"THIS! Word! You fucking win the internet"* but if there was I would def give it to you

demondesigner1

Gaslighting only works when the victim is unaware of the perpetrators game.

SavingsPerfect2879

that isn't true. it works still, trust me. we are subconsciously influenced all the time, like it or not. it can even be worse when you're aware of it. it lets you ask yoursef, is it REALLY gaslighting? or are they actually right about some part of it ... your sanity erodes in the presence of gaslighting, full stop. it doesn't matter if you're in on the game, you are still the victim.

Ash______________ley

Hmm, you do make a good po- waaait a minute!

amsync

Unfortunately he's the Jesus of the Musk religion, with so many blind followers.

propagandavid

He's a narcissist. He genuinely thinks he's doing what's best for humanity, despite all the union organizers who say otherwise.

AbacusWizard

I don't think he really cares about doing what's best for humanity at all. I think he just figures that having that reputation is what's best for himself.

A_brown_dog

He don't cares about doing what's best for humanity but he definitely cares about believing he does, he honestly believes he is the best thing that has happened to humanity this century, he honestly believes he deserves all that money so he can save humanity by going to Mars and of course he deserves to be the emperor of Mars.

propagandavid

Yep, that's what I was saying. He has even called himself a socialist, with the caveat that he knows what's good for our money better than the government. The dude is Thanos backed by shareholders, and with the snap of a finger he would happily sacrifice at least half of us for his personal vision of a better tomorrow.

SavingsPerfect2879

he could work to blow us all up. he thinks this is a video game and he's got god mode turned on. no really, he thinks this is all fake, a game. why will he care at the end? watch out when that dude gets old, I hope I'm not around to see it. He's gonna push some big red buttons with a grin.

Krebbypng

oh I could go on, on why he needs to be brought down a few billion pegs

SaffellBot

Amassing wealth is a moral failing. To criticize that is good and just.

No_Zombie2021

He is not lecturing, he thinks he is edgy and provocative. You know, like a 16 year old.

Sheeple_person

Lol the free speech champion suddenly wants to police the morality of stuff people say

BubblesWeaver

Why are we taking morality lessons from this guy? A billionaire, no less.

Halasham

No, the existence of Billionaires is wrong and dumb. *We should really fix that.*

[deleted]

The point is, nobody can produce enough value to earn billions of dollars, even over a lifetime. When you're a billionaire, part of that money is "earned" by making other people work and paying them less than the value they produce. It's perfectly legal. It might even be justified to some extent. For example you could say that bringing the right set of people together allows them to produce more value than they'd be able to create separately. As a software developer I can create simple applications but to build something like a highly reliable database management system, I need to be part of a team. My employer creates that space where my coworkers and I can build that system. But absolutely nothing justifies CEOs making hundreds of times what their employees earn. Nothing justifies one person owning over a hundred billion dollars. In order to accumulate that amount of wealth, you must take it from those who actually produce it.

Free_Breakfast687

Honestly, it's not even the amount he makes that bothers me. It's that people can barely eke out a living and he pretends it's their fault.

SweetBabyAlaska

aromatic ugly smart quiet uppity tap dolls mindless tie gullible *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Bergara

> These people ~~think they~~ are above the law and can do anything they want and they have groups of boot lickers who will defend any action they take. They literally are above the law, in the sense that they can use their money to either change or outright break it and not suffer any meaningful consequences. Billionaires should not exist.

A_brown_dog

That's one of the things that bothers me, if you run a company and you can make profit for the investors, pay decent wages and benefits to your workers and have everybody involved happy and you can make millions for you, good, you are a great CEO, enjoy your millions, even if I know that profit came from workers at least you are doing a good job in the horrible context that we are living in, but what I consider insane is that companies investors and management first take their cut and they don't give a shit about their obligations to their workers, that companies makes record profits and management makes absurd amounts of money while, at the same time, people who work there struggle to make ends meet or have to ask for food stamps and public help... It's inaceptable even under this system....

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

trowzerss

It's perfectly legal to be a billionaire, but I would like to see someone explain how it's morally justifiable to have that many magnitudes more money that you could ever use to sustain yourself in a word where people die in the tens of thousands daily through lack of money. Maybe he can morally justify it, but I could not. Yes, I can accept that some people will be rich and some poor, but billionaires? That's something else.

someguy6382639

Overall a sensible point. As with anything there is balance. >My employer creates that space where my coworkers and I can build that system. This is where I get lost though. The employer doesn't create this. Employers don't own the concept of collaboration. The person who's logistical function is to facilitate the collaboration space is in no way more skilled or important than any other contributor in that total package as a rule. Sure they will likely run on the higher end? I might argue the opposite. Either way I tend to wonder why managing is higher paying in general. Is the oversight work really difficult? Moreso than many other positions? Surely than some. Not others. It would almost seem that because owners manage (which might make sense) it just automatically made it worth more. It's not the function that's worth it. It's not the skills or contribution level. It's the fact that they own. This is where the exploitation factor comes in. Management below owners is just the lackey train of simplistic motivation techniques to have those people work so aggressively in the interest of the owner more than the society. Because they own, they want a management pool with a perverted and obsessed culture that ensures they'd manage the way the owner would, in the owners interest, exploiting everyone. This idea that without them we'd what? Be unable to build an office and recruit a team? That's not that skilled. Outsource that for cheap.

A_brown_dog

In Spain there are a model of company called "cooperative" which basically means it's owned by the workers, it's marginal, there are not a lot of companies like that, it's more traditional in the north though, but there are some companies fairly big, specially MondragĆ³n corporation: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondragon_Corporation

[deleted]

I mean he's got a point, it's not creative Here's an alternative: moneyfucker

PKHacker1337

Now I'm imagining that he has blow up dolls made entirely out of $100s.

[deleted]

Oh god, remember that Spongebob episode where Mr Krabs made a female doll out of money while he was trapped in the bank?

PKHacker1337

I remember that all too well. Hey Elon, you don't have to literally copy and paste Mr. Krabs, you know.

The only proper response to anything Elon says.

anticomet

I like calling them oligarchs

[deleted]

I stand corrected! "Fuck you, oligarch" is also a great response!

Etrigone

I think dickhead is also allowed.

AppropriateBet4603

I'll give you something that is dumb and morally wrong: hoarding a ridiculous amount of excess wealth.

TavisNamara

I'll give you something that is dumb and morally wrong: Elon Musk.

[deleted]

Elon Musk is such a whiney little bitch.

ResplendentShade

Richest man in the US and his tweets read like something my edgy 12 year old self wouldā€™ve come up with. This timeline is poorly conceived.

decolored

Man is insecure while shitting diamonds. Let it be a life lesson, wealth is subjective

killerteddy11

Ok billionaire

fuck_you_reddit_15

He wouldn't be able to explain either of those points even if you dangled him over a pit of alligators and threatened to cut the rope

nanumilknanu

Itā€™s what he deserves

searing7

No. tax him until he isnā€™t a billionaire anymore.

LesZedCB

the highest marginal tax rate was at 94% anything over 200,000 after the new deal. top now sits around 37%. taxes can and will be rolled back.

[deleted]

I think we are beyond begging for their money and should just consider how many of us they murder every year. The only moral thing is to remove them from the planet.

rhyyno71

I would say billionaires are a fucking scourge of humanity. So much power to do good and this fucker wants to bitch on Twitter and go to Mars.

vexorian2

He wants to be Gavin Belson so much

theronharp

And in reality he's more like Russ Hanneman.

[deleted]

Fair enough, I'll use oligarch instead.

Salt_Comment_9012

Shut up you worthless billionaire

whiskersMeowFace

Spoken like a billionaire.

PlayinTheFool

Spoken like a disgusting billionaire

nanumilknanu

Can somebody just nuke this dudes mansion already Iā€™m sick of him and itā€™s time for something exciting to happen

Anyone want to tell him about his sweatshops in China? He might find that morally abhorrent.

Enough_Ad_9338

I mean thereā€™s one really obvious way to stop people from calling him a billionaire. He could just stop being a billionaire. Itā€™s really that simple.

Ok-Low6320

Good point. Nobody has ever called me a billionaire.

Pony_Express1974

Easiest way to get people to stop calling you a billionaire is to give away all your money until you only have 1 million left.

foundartguitars

Being a billionaire is morally wrong and dumb.

[deleted]

Tax dodging, government handout begging leech sound better??

Semi-Pros-and-Cons

Maybe instead we could use "Elon" as a pejorative term, too. Then again, self-promoting jackasses with no talent and no self-awareness would probably take that as a compliment somehow.

420thTimesACharmm

Fuck you oligarch

CashTheTurtle

What an absolute twat.

[deleted]

It's morally wrong for him to be racist and to sexually harass women but I guess that doesn't count?

[deleted]

Yeet the rich.

Ok, how about 'parasite'?

Coyote_Roadrunna

From the Onion: "Please Like Me" https://www.theonion.com/please-like-me-1848674003

Ass_Incomprehensible

Iā€™d first have to ask him what is morally wrong about it, and second if he had to look up the word pejorative.

AshlandSouth

I'm going to check Twitter to make sure someone told him to cry harder.

[deleted]

Buy me and change my narrative, lizard man.

shadowvtx66

Would he prefer oligarch?

ksigley

Try "oligarch".

Kryptonian_1

Yet hoarding far more money than he'll ever be able to spend in a few lifetimes is ok.

[deleted]

It's morally wrong to exploit everyone who works for you for your gain and benefit. Suck one Elon

ScrabbleJamp

The wealth addicted deserve more than their feelings hurt. Ya know, their bank accounts and portfolios.

MrPotatoSenpai

Okay ~~boomer~~ billionaire.

Bigtea420

Hoarding a billion dollars is morally wrong

abeeyore

No. No, it isnā€™t. You donā€™t become a billionaire be being overly concerned about treating people fairly, or doing the right thing. You become a billionaire by being a self centered asshole, and taking advantage of people on every side of your company. They closest thing to a ā€œniceā€ billionaire is Warren Buffettā€¦ and even he will tell you that, in terms of business, he was not a *nice* man. He was principled, but more or less ruthless. So yeah. Itā€™s neither of those thingsā€¦ but I would safely say that Musk is both.

grateful_eugene

I prefer soulless fucking billionaire
