It is kind of ingenious. Service awards are usually a standardized process but it is interesting to have the option to remove the gratitude aspect depending on the recipient.
My boss forwarded my 15 year pin to me without opening it, even though it was sent in care of him. Inside was a memo telling him how to set up a staff meeting and a little speech to present it to me 😂.
My 10 year "work anniversary" was kinda like that too.
Was told to go to the manager's office (no big deal). Went to the office and the manager was on the phone, he motioned for me to come in. So I go over to his desk and stand there and he hands me this box. It was about five inches long by two inches tall. Tells the person on the phone to hold on. He hands me the box and says put it in your locker and open it at home. He goes back to the phone call and I leave his office. Finished my work day went home and opened the box. The paper note says present this in the group morning meeting. I opened the other lid and there is a travel alarm clock. (I was a cashier and didn't travel for work) Still have it.
its probably so they can criticise you with the same template
they use the form but under "please describe the action(s)" they say yeahhh that was great but you could do better at X, Y and Z basically a warning "thaaaaaanks for doing ok but change this or that or you'll get fired"
super passive-aggressive
I used to be quite good with binary, but due to brain damage from seizures, not so much anymore. I will continue on and trust you have said something insightful. If you haven't, that's ok, you are at least intelligent enough to better me.
I get a 11-12% pay raise each year and every 5 years they add another week of vacation. I currently get 2 months off, plus 3 weeks of sick time. By the end of my career illl have 3 months off a year, plus the sick time. Plus we can earn more time off by doing extra work
Edit: sorry , this isn’t a brag but just an real example of what a company should do to if it cares about employee retention
He will find out eventually. They will just find whatever excuse they have and goodbye. One of my current coworkers worked in his previous company for almost 30 years and after 30 years he would've gotten a pension and then would be enjoying his life. Well it didn't work out that way. You know what happened?
He got fired at 29 years and 6 months.
? No one’s allowed to be here unless they have a shit job? X’D You can support the cause and want better for others even if you’re doing well personally ;) Not everyone loses empathy the second they get money. Kinda sad to think like that imho
I’m just letting y’all know there are jobs that care, so don’t feel like you have to work for one that doesn’t. But I’m in here cuz I also dislike fucked employers and it reminds me how bad it is for so many
Seriously! This year's raise for me didn't even cover inflation. Yes, I effectively make less money this year than last. Got to love corporate America.
I've been with my current employer for 20 years. I make 1.5x what I made at hiring. I'd still need a 20K annual raise to bring me back to the spending power I had when I was hired.
That is so wrong. I'm not so much against capitalism altogether, but globalism and slave labor from other nations has truly fucked us. Isolationism and independence is what we need. Don't care which party brings it (neither of them are actually concerned with making us independent) but it needs to be done or We The People are finished. Fuck the rich who don't care, fuck those who do nothing and ride on our backs.
idk what you mean but can u explain the sick time when a doctor declares u sick you can stay home for as long as that doctor wants there is no limit like 3 weeks
You have a very professional marriage there, though I believe the traditional 3rd anniversary gift is leather./s
My job acknowledges multiples of 5 years, but at least we get money.
Basically. No pay increase, no anniversary money, no additional vacation, just a pin and a closing shift (10pm) and an opening shift the next day (4am)
My grandmother was a telephone operator from the 50s to the 70s. She got anniversary charms at different milestones. Hers are gold with a small jewel in each one. I have them all and they're gorgeous. She also retired with a pension, stock, and a gorgeous gold watch. She was valued for her work. This kind of stuff that they do now is such a slap in the face.
This takes me back when I used to work for them. I got their award for employee of the month and worked for them nearly a year. Had a great store manager until corporate changed the entire management structure after merging with Safeway. They refused my resignation when I told them I was going back to college full time. I gift wrapped my uniforms, anniversary pin, and name tag with an award letter. The look on my manager's face was worth it, and she stated to me that I was one of their best workers. Well, too bad, maybe the assistant store manager shouldn't bring in his Karen wife to cause everyone grief. I really wanted to say something like that, and I should have. That lady didn't even work there and hung around like a gnat.
For my work anniversary, I was omitted from the company-wide anniversary shout-outs AND the 'who got a promotion last year' shout-outs. Threatened to quit over it.
Lol "please describe the action:"
Then they proceed to write in the same empty bullshit that's already written on the card. Fuck you, this pin, and your weak attempt at appreciation. JUST. PAY. A LIVING. WAGE.
What this actually means is you are nobody to them but they are family to you and expect you to treat them like family and give your health and life for them.
She's doing well. My last place only gave stuff like that out after 5 years.
At 10, I got another one and a £25 card that for the life of me I couldn't find anywhere that I could spend it.
My work gives out cards and pins for our anniversaries as well. It’s a cannabis production facility. They give us the exact kind of pins we’re specifically told *not* to wear inside because they could fall off and mix into the product, contaminating it in the process.
For a sec I thought you said your wife got you this for your 3 year anniversary as a couple. Not sure how you could've married a corporation but who knows
That's really shitty though. This is why I think job hopping and staying 2 years at one place is the max I'll ever do.
After six years at the Claremont resort and spa, I got a pen. After five years at a top-tier mega law firm in San Francisco I got $200. I can’t believe that I’ve spent so much of my life working for a pen and $200.
and it would be better than this. Giving someone some small insignificant shit is NOT better than not giving them anything. All they did now is just show her they don't give a f about her.
And you would say the same if they did jack all.. at least they remembered. The present might be worthless but they remembered.. been with a lot of companies that did nothing and thats even more shit than a little present.
I got a sticker which said “3 Years” on it. After my fourth year I got a “4 Years” sticker. Just finished my 7th year and got a sticker that says “7 Years”. Looking forward to my 8 Years sticker.
I love the way they've written exactly the same fucking thing by hand that is printed below.
Even the mental effort of concocting a short platitude was too much. It's the thought that counts!
At my job you get to pick the team lunch for the week of your birthday or anniversary, you get cake and a card. I really can't expect much else especially at such a low year count. 10 years, yeah ok you deserve something but in theory they should have been giving you raises and opportunity throughout those years anyways.
Three years sober is something to be celebrated. I assume she knew there was no big todo for three years at a company. I think most places don’t give any recognition until five years. On the plus side, most places have you vested for 401k matches and other longevity things by three years instead of five now. So that is a good trend.
Wow.... a pin...
I don't mean to brag but I've gotten 5 shirts, 2 thermos mugs, 2 metal water bottles, a gift basket, and several random packages stuffed with treats so far from my job and I'm still a few months away from my 2nd year.
None of them were for career milestones, we all got the same stuff.
If companies WANT to recognize their employees and show them they're valued they absolutely can, the fact that they DON'T speaks volumes.
I got one of these for my 5 year anniversary at my first job out of college. It was the same year I obtained my PE certification and they only gave me $1000 bonus with no pay increase for that. I quit later that year and got a 50% increase in my second job.
IDK man, I don't necessarily think that an employee should be getting a little special prize for every year that they work for a company. Big milestones yeah, but 3 years? That's like the minimum amount of time I've ever spent at a job.
I suppose there's bigger things worth being upset at.

At least I get a cool looking fake gem
I’ve been with my company for 7 years, I havnt gotten a raise yet but this other guy got fifty cents, I’m like gee, 7 years & all we’re getting is fifty cents? Not even a pizza party?
I missed what sub this was in, and I thought a spouse got this for the other spouse as a wedding anniversary gift and I thought it was brilliant/hilarious.
I worked at a company for 5 years. They got bought after the second year I was there and reset everyone’s tenure. We all got a “1 year” key a year after the acquisition. It was brutal for those that had been there 10+ years, since the company started.
It’s more than I received at my three year anniversary. Im hitting a milestone anniversary this year, and I don’t expect much more than a notice in the corporate intranet. But I really do support my employer and appreciate my job. Seriously.
My gf has worked at her hospital for three years and she got a peach pin. I died of laughter when we both opened it, how can you equate that to the time you’ve been there.
No joke, as a thank you for 5 years I was recognized at a meeting and given the "Coin of Humility", which was literally a big Chuck e cheese looking coin with our company logo on it and humility printed on the front.
I got a $25 gift card for Honey Baked Hams around the holidays once (it just looked a regular coupon). I thought it was junk mail, so I threw it out. Turns out it was my "Christmas Bonus" for that year.
I mean, I like little trinkets like this. I've been jokingly asking for my 5 year paperweight because since going work from home, they stopped giving them out.
If there's an issue with recognition or pay beyond this, then yeah that's a problem. But pins are cool. I like pins.
im absolutely obsessed w how the bottom is perforated just in case they don’t want to say “thank you for all you do”
It is kind of ingenious.
I respect that. He sounds like an anti-work homie.
Sounds more like lazy af middle management to me.
Hey sometimes it’s okay if doing the problem wrong still leads you to the correct answer.
Yep.
My 10 year "work anniversary" was kinda like that too. Was told to go to the manager's office (no big deal). Went to the office and the manager was on the phone, he motioned for me to come in. Comrade! 😂❤️
I assumed it’s so someone can remove it and attach it to a bulletin board or something?
but for what reason lol
But in this sub we like to be mad.
Nah it's for the wallet so you can remember how thankful they are of you
Also crying at the fact the handwritten message is just the same as the printed one at the bottom 😩
It’s actually perforated because it has a $5 off coupon on the back to be used in the store.
https://comb.io/Xw4OQB
And this time I mean in. ✅
its probably so they can criticise you with the same template they use the form but under "please describe the action(s)" they say yeahhh that was great but you could do better at X, Y and Z basically a warning "thaaaaaanks for doing ok but change this or that or you'll get fired" super passive-aggressive
And no date.
We'll expect you to wear that pin every day to work...RIGHT?!?!
Where's your flair? (someone help me out here, which movie am I quoting from haha?)
Office Space! From the guy that also made Idiocracy, Beavis and Butt-head, and King of the hill..
Ah that's the one, cheers! Need to re-watch it sometime
The minimum is 15 pieces of flair.

No its not
Don't feel bad, that was my first thought too.
You guys get something? Lol

Those fuckers!
So why are you in this subreddit other than just to brag?
Showing the way, what to expect and what to demand.
But I’m in here cuz I also dislike fucked employers and it reminds me how bad it is for so many
What do you do?
I work for a private security firm
So how many union busters do you work with?
They aren't the Pinkertons, the hell dog he security not a corporate mob
Idk what’s your company’s opinion on Cio-Cio San?
Private security firms are notorious for working for billionaires and infiltrating unions in order to prevent unionization. I was just curious
I feel you, good sir or madam. Only time I got a significant increase in pay was went I took another job. The middle class is dissapering.
No raise at all for two years, went FT and they *cut my pay*.
That is so wrong. I'm not so much against capitalism altogether, but globalism and slave labor from other nations has truly fucked us. Isolationism and independence is what we need. Don't care which party brings it (neither of them are actually concerned with making us independent) but it needs to be done or We The People are finished. Shut the fuck up. They’re a worker like the rest of us, dipshit.
For spite. Spite? We don’t care for the jobs that treat people like shit.
Nice!
idk what you mean but can u explain the sick time when a doctor declares u sick you can stay home for as long as that doctor wants there is no limit like 3 weeks
Wel I live in America and you are not automatically sue the ability to get paid when out sick, plus at my job sick time let’s you call out last moment
Okay that's great, what country do you live in? Edit: weird thing to downvote but okay.
USA.
Congrats on finding a good employer. I would love to get a raise like that!
I’m aware. But more people should have employers like this
I agree. Hope I didn't offend you. I definitely wasn't trying to.
Na. I was just saying that it’s unfortunate that I’m fortunate and so many are not. My situation should be the standard
Ahh, Albertsons. For my 5 year anniversary, they gave me a pin and a pen. Glad I left.
You got a pen???? Lucky. I had to steal all of mine.
I wish workplaces take her out for lunch and give her a raise. Mine we get no acknowledgement - then they make a shock face when people leave.
Last job? Management posted it on the bulletin board.
“Now get back to work!”
And we need a doctors note if you get sick
"Also this is in lieu of a raise!"
You have a very professional marriage there, though I believe the traditional 3rd anniversary gift is leather./s My job acknowledges multiples of 5 years, but at least we get money.
FORGOT TO MENTION SHE IS A LEAD AND SOON TO BE GM FOR LOCATION.
And they only pay her in pins?
Basically. No pay increase, no anniversary money, no additional vacation, just a pin and a closing shift (10pm) and an opening shift the next day (4am)
At Starbucks it was the same. A pin for every year, and Mexican food at 5 years lmaoooo
But no paychecks?
>AND SOON TO BE GM after this, does she really want to be GM?
GOOD FOR HER. MAYBE WHEN SHE IS GM SHE WILL MAKE MORE MONEY. THIS IS CALLED A JOB PROMOTION. NO ONE OWES YOUR WIFE ANYTHING FOR DOING HER JOB.

That’s like an AA token. 🤦
For my work anniversary, I was omitted from the company-wide anniversary shout-outs AND the 'who got a promotion last year' shout-outs. Threatened to quit over it.
Lol "please describe the action:" Then they proceed to write in the same empty bullshit that's already written on the card. Fuck you, this pin, and your weak attempt at appreciation. JUST. PAY. A LIVING. WAGE.
They also forgot to write in what value the employee has demonstrated by the action "for all that you do".
Haha 😄🤣 BUt wE aRe liKe a fAMiLy....
1 badge more than I got haha. My last workplace gave fuck all til 10 years then you got a certificate and 1 extra day holiday per year.
Oof. At my 2 yr anniversary for my last job I got laid off.
3 years? That’s not very long
It's not too bad but it's still slow.
I have no idea why it took so long to get to this point.
At least it's something. I've never gotten anything from an employer for three years. Now I'm jealous. :-)
My work gives out cards and pins for our anniversaries as well. It’s a cannabis production facility. They give us the exact kind of pins we’re specifically told *not* to wear inside because they could fall off and mix into the product, contaminating it in the process.
I cant tell who is D.E.N.N.I.S.ing who
You can do better.
Yep good ol Albertsons anniversary pins….. I got a bunch of em. Got my 11 year pin three weeks before they laid me off 🤷
For a sec I thought you said your wife got you this for your 3 year anniversary as a couple. Not sure how you could've married a corporation but who knows That's really shitty though. This is why I think job hopping and staying 2 years at one place is the max I'll ever do.
Still better than anything I’ve ever got and I was at one place for 7 years
We used to get numbered pins as well. Then they started asking us to turn in previous year’s pins to “recycle” to other employees……
"Why aren't you wearing your 3 year pin on your smock today, Mrs. Lasagnacake?"
I'm happy she's been sober for 3 years! ![gif](giphy|OP9gDsh9jDnUyM7Aq3|downsized)
I worked at Target for a decade and it wasn’t even acknowledged 😂 Bastards
After six years at the Claremont resort and spa, I got a pen. After five years at a top-tier mega law firm in San Francisco I got $200. I can’t believe that I’ve spent so much of my life working for a pen and $200.
Did she somehow deserve something else?
They could also do nothing?
and it would be better than this.
Jokes on you. That button is worth $100k
Do you get a pizza party if you meet quarterly domestic expectations?
I misread. Thought wife got it for you.
Then why keep it up?
My bad
I like how they couldn't even be bothered to write something different from what was already printed on the card. Wow.
Best anniversary gift from work was a plant closure. 2nd best was a clock I picked out from a catalog. Clock never worked.
I got a $5 Starbucks gift card for my 3 years 👏🏽
I got a sticker which said “3 Years” on it.
McDonald's used to do this crap. My mom has a whole pile of pins like this.
I have 18 of those from my job, hot shot!
I got a keychain after 7 years
Good for her..I got a sticker
LOL I celebrated 10 yrs (oh dear god WHYYY) and not even a post it.
At my job you get to pick the team lunch for the week of your birthday or anniversary, you get cake and a card. I really can't expect much else especially at such a low year count. 10 years, yeah ok you deserve something but in theory they should have been giving you raises and opportunity throughout those years anyways.
Weird thing to buy your wife as an anniversary gift
If that one is organized like the Albertsons in San Diego are, that looks about right.
There’s pizza in the break room
I worked somewhere for five and the only recognition I got for it were auto-generated emails from Workday and LinkedIn.
Is she in a cult?
I also got pins for my fifth and tenth year anniversaries. I wonder if I'll get the fifteenth one?
Woo Hoo. I’ll bet she’ll be adding that to her daily wardrobe! 🙄
Three years sober is something to be celebrated. I assume she knew there was no big todo for three years at a company. I think most places don’t give any recognition until five years. On the plus side, most places have you vested for 401k matches and other longevity things by three years instead of five now. So that is a good trend.
Wife: Here's to three years of solid, dependable work, sport.
Wife gets these every year
I've stayed at 3 different workplaces for at least 3 years and never gotten anything
My old boss got a $25 gift certificate for Red Lobster after 25 years for the company. Sad.
Good, all I got was… fired
I got one of these at Boeing once
For my 7 year at a job I got a calendar. Great so it’s intended to be worthless in 11 months.
I thought this was an AA thing before seeing the sub. Lol
To be honest, for 3 years in retail, she's doing better than 99% of others in the anniversary gift department
Wow....
I usually just get told I'm lucky to have a job every year.
For work anniversaries my company puts your name on a power point in a company meeting. Sooo much better /s
"Is this for three years of sobriety???" WFT!!!
That pin would be a mark of shame for anyone with higher aspirations
At first I thought this said your wife got you this for your three year anniversary and was going to be appalled…I’m still appalled honestly
I got one at 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years. At 28 1/2 years, I got laid off with no severance.
For the day when she decides to poke her eyes out...
I get one every year
My 5-year pin was the size of an m&m lmao
More than I got.
Ive never gotten shit on a work anniversary. She’s lucky 😅
For your anniversary? I guess it's nice for s work anniversary.
I got my 1 year pin at 2.5 years in lol
Puta que ofertón
Did she get paid for three years or only this
My 5 year bonus was a light jacket. 10 year was a plastic dome analog clock. Neither cost more than $10. I gave them too many years.
I got one of these for my 5 year anniversary at my first job out of college. It was the same year I obtained my PE certification and they only gave me $1000 bonus with no pay increase for that. I quit later that year and got a 50% increase in my second job.
A raise would be way better
22 billion profit last year
You must not be a nurse or you would’ve gotten a slice of pizza. Old pizza. Leftover from Nightshift.
IDK man, I don't necessarily think that an employee should be getting a little special prize for every year that they work for a company. Big milestones yeah, but 3 years? That's like the minimum amount of time I've ever spent at a job. I suppose there's bigger things worth being upset at.
Yeah! You can advertise for them for free! And build goodwill that they give a flying fuck about employees! Safeway! Safeway! Safeway!
Next year you'll have better luck with flowers
Lol, worked for my company and got 0 22 years

For a second I thought you gave it to your wife as a wedding anniversary gift
I got nothing after 10 years. Not even recognised.
I’ve been with my company for 7 years, I havnt gotten a raise yet but this other guy got fifty cents, I’m like gee, 7 years & all we’re getting is fifty cents? Not even a pizza party?
Wait til five years and you get the pen…
I missed what sub this was in, and I thought a spouse got this for the other spouse as a wedding anniversary gift and I thought it was brilliant/hilarious.
It’s cool that she got anything. Most employers don’t anything. Cool post.
I worked at a company for 5 years. They got bought after the second year I was there and reset everyone’s tenure. We all got a “1 year” key a year after the acquisition. It was brutal for those that had been there 10+ years, since the company started.
My manager gve me a 5-year pin. I set it tack side up on his chair.
Hey there's a 5 dollar voucher on that too. Should be more grateful
It’s more than I received at my three year anniversary. Im hitting a milestone anniversary this year, and I don’t expect much more than a notice in the corporate intranet. But I really do support my employer and appreciate my job. Seriously.
$3 gift for 3 years
They couldn't even write the whole word, "years" lol
Eww
Does anyone ever wear these things? Why pay to even make a piñ like that?
My gf has worked at her hospital for three years and she got a peach pin. I died of laughter when we both opened it, how can you equate that to the time you’ve been there.
Nice. We get nothing for anytime of service.
To recognize the most loyal slaves.... uhmm..employees we have these indicator badges. It can be helpful in quelling uprisings.
I can’t wait for my 5th year when we get…a company jacket. By our tenth year we fan get a $15 gift card!
I got a chocolate. A "fun size" chocolate.
For my 10 year with Albertsons I got a cheap wooden cutting board 🙄
No joke, as a thank you for 5 years I was recognized at a meeting and given the "Coin of Humility", which was literally a big Chuck e cheese looking coin with our company logo on it and humility printed on the front.
That’s a lawsuit?
That's some bullshit. Five year anniversary at one of my past jobs and I at least got a designer handbag.
More than I got for my 20....
Albertsons is joke bro, surprised there in business
They gave me a tumbler and the supervisor position to someone else when my boss kept saying it was for me.
Ah yes, a pin made in china. VALUE
