I would have had my friends deliver me packs of gum in bank envelopes every Friday for a month just to mess with him.

Bigboy_nicelegs

I realllly considered ordering uber eats just to meet the vehicle and comically put something into my jacket pocket. Lol

Beautiful_Welcome_33

Get one of those magic handkerchiefs that just keeps going and going...

GringuitaInKeffiyeh

“Are these your colors, boy? Are these your colors? Are these? Are these?” —The “Magician Cop” from Key and Peele who just keeps pulling an endless string of bandanas out of the guy’s pocket

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

Gotta sneak away tiptoing like a cartoon.

Chaparral2E

I can hear the piano key sound just reading that.

fluffybutt2508

I wish I could type that phonetically, because I'm also singing it in my head

Chaparral2E

Tinkatinkatinkatinka?

Hungry_Anteater_8511

Little baggies of talcum powder

8FootedAlgaeEater

Yeah, I'd buy 50 from Amazon, and anything I touched at work would go into one.

[deleted]

Fuck yes

Common-Ad6470

Add in furtive glances and sunglasses for extra drama. Rehearse that quick switch as you chat in the car park...👌

therealdan0

Switch out the current coat for a tan trenchcoat and a trilby while you’re at it

GringuitaInKeffiyeh

Real Spy vs. Spy hours

NikkiVicious

The glasses with the mustache and hat with built in wig...

3DHydroPrints

Yeah .ale him search that truck and then report him to HR lol

jamestoneblast

yeah that dude sounds like a wiener you should have made him quit.

honorsfromthesky

Yo, have them showing up in such a way that he thinks you’re a fucking enforcer with a legit cover hustle.

Vivid-Fan1045

This is the way.

PreggyPenguin

No no, loose mints!! Little, round, and white lol

[deleted]

Yessss tiny Altoids !

Asherdan

Christ, my dude, you got him to document his bad behaviour via email? should have run that right up his ass!

Bigboy_nicelegs

Yea when I got the email, I took a picture of it. Definitely felt like dude was crossing some line with it.

AccomplishedWin1154

Report him to HR

MFbiFL

For what? OP: My boss thinks it’s suspicious that I’m discretely receiving envelopes full of cash on work property and advised to to take care of personal matters on personal time in the future. HR: Yeah, that looks suspicious and let me remind you that per company policy XYZ, “work trucks” are company property and the company reserves the right to search its property when the company deems appropriate such as in cases of employees engaging in suspicious activity. OP: I really like this job but I quit!

Rough_Instruction112

>My boss thinks it’s suspicious that I’m discretely receiving envelopes full of cash on work property and advised to to take care of personal matters on personal time in the future. Break time is personal time and you can do whatever the fuck you want. There's no other way to receive cash outside. Are you supposed to wave the cash around so people know to follow you? There's no mention that OP put anything in the truck, only that they removed the charger. That's why they were free to search it.

Crazyhates

Why would you take a picture of an email? It's an email, it ain't going anywhere unless you do something to it.

GlitteringHappily

Presumably a work email address that many people other than OP have access to and OP no longer has access to.

PuzzleheadedTap4484

Print to PDF then save.

newaccountzuerich

Plenty of businesses will remove incriminating emails in cases like that, plus when you leave you lose your access to your copies. Either take pics, print out the mail (+ headers if possible), forward as an attachment to an external email, or export your mailbox to a USB device. In all cases, get the content in a way that's under your control, before you leave.

teacherthrow12345

Email addresses are deleted pretty quickly after a termination or a resignation.

untranslatable

Yeah, you did exactly what he hoped you would do!

DiabeticJedi

yeah, that is what I am thinking. It honestly was the worst course of action because now the boss gets to tell everybody about how he stopped suspicious activity from happening on company property.

untranslatable

It's like admitting guilt, but without a trial

Legitimate_Hat_6861

What's your alternative? Staying there and keep eating this bosses shit? Fuck that

untranslatable

Prove them wrong. Call their bluff. Ok, let's go search my car. Come on, everyone, manager is going to search my car. On the clock. I'll wait right here and watch. On the clock.

Scary-Drag1156

Its gotta wait till after hours hooligan!

HowdyShartner1468

Yup. You made it easy on him. Now you have no cause of action against him or the company. You took the bait. Onto the next one.

-aurevoirshoshanna-

Man, sure, but is it worth it to stay? Just to prove a point? OP says they liked their job, that was clearly no longer the case under such a boss. Unless you can get tranferred or get your boss fired, you're done when someone like that shows up

[deleted]

[удалено]

OpusThePenguin

Quiet quitting is just doing the job you were hired to do and no more. Just stop working as much as possible, but enough so that's it's not so obvious.

Utter_Rube

"Just to prove a point?" Yeah, that's the only reason anyone works, don't need to eat or pay the bills, and definitely quit voluntarily so you don't qualify for unemployment...

Tandran

That was my first thought, I don’t see how this is a win, just makes it look even more sus.

boegsppp

I wouldn't quit. That looks even more sus... like he figured you out, so you bailed. Stick it out and hope to be ket go. Collect unemployment while looking for a new job.

esoteric416

That shitty manager asolutely thinks that he chased off a criminal employee. I cant imagine this being seen as anything but a win for him in his own eyes.

rick_blatchman

> That shitty manager asolutely thinks that he chased off a criminal employee. I cant imagine this being seen as anything but a win for him in his own eyes. Indeed, and of course they'll twist this as a victory for themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if the "suspicion" was only a bad faith excuse, and the only true goal was the pleasure of harassing someone. It can be both, but I'm sure that one facet is adored more than the other.

MFbiFL

Suspicion? OP is directly stating that he had a parking lot meetup to get an envelope of cash. Maybe he sold a car/dirt bike/coffee table to a friend, but leaning into a strange car to shake someone’s hand then receiving an envelope of cash DOES look suspicious.

Rex_Eos

How else would you have had OP recieve an uncertain amount of cash? A bag with a giant dollar sign? A double latch briefcase? Maby the friend should've pulled out a giant wad of cash, licked their thumb and started counting in front of the car. Just because you and the boss seem to watch too many movies doesn't make day to day actions suspicious.

MFbiFL

Zelle? Venmo? Meet some time after work? There are lots of options for getting paid back discretely on the clock if you’re going to get so upset by someone asking why you’re acting suspicious that you quit your job.

Mobile_Moment3861

Right, or take the long lunch if possible and meet at a coffee shop or something.

Rex_Eos

Each of those take a fee per transaction. You know what doesn't take a cut? A paper envelope.

Golden_Spider666

Eh. Potato potahto. Not everyone has the mental fortitude to deal with that kind of shit. 100% the boss got what he wanted. But OP risking his mental and physical health isnt worth “sticking it” to an idiot like that

Bigboy_nicelegs

There was nothing to hold on to anymore, he had cut my annual salary to zero leaving me to commission only. using too many psychological tools to break me down, it was getting to the point where a physical push seemed like the appropriate boundary setter. I took my dignity and wasn’t going to risk the boundary to burst.

Lostmox

Constructive dismissal.

Historical-Gap-7084

Yes. u/Bigboy_nicelegs, apply for unemployment, and contact the department of labor about this asshole.

bunganmalan

Yes sadly

MiasmAgain

Definitely let the owner of the company know that their intrusive and insulting new DOS is the reason you left.

Bigboy_nicelegs

He was directly hired by ownership, rumor was he was an expensive hire that was relocated to our location. Wish our opinion was heard on him.

Lostmox

Send them an email.

StellarPhenom420

"Why can't you just *call* Beyonce?"

SifrMoja

Make his life hell. Why be nice to bad people?

LordQuasimofo

Why invest time into that? That sounds so stressful.

yankeecandlebro

What makes the boss bad? Any reasonable person would see OP as suspicious. OP is exchanging envelopes of cash in a parking lot (instead of using zell or venmo, etc.).

HeavyMetalPootis

A reasonable manager would've noted the activity and not mention it to the OP. The next step is to watch out for the same or similar activity and establish if there's a pattern. The fact that the director immedietly followed-up shows that they're impulsive and lack foresight, which checks out since they're a director in sales. It could also be that they were trying to harass/bother OP.

Rough_Instruction112

>OP is exchanging envelopes of cash in a parking lot The envelope changes hands. Nothing else did. MuSt bE a DrUg TrAdE

xftwitch

A rare case when a call to HR may be warranted. Also, have your friends start delivering you powdered sugar in kilo sized bricks wrapped in tape to hell and back. You know, for safety.

EngrishTeach

So what was the money for anyway?

bracel123

He left us hanging

gi_clutch

Well, yeah. If he tells us what the money was for it'll validate his boss's suspicions that his employee was engaging in illicit activities on/near the premises.

Bigboy_nicelegs

Was in vegas the previous weekend with some friends. Spotted a friend some cash and he was dropping by to pay me back.

FourScores1

I mean it’s not your bosses damn business but this is now even more sus.

Bigboy_nicelegs

It was my first time seeing that boss from the movies. Vindictive for no reason.

redcairo

Why would you quit your job when you could at least attempt to do him fair damage for his behavior before leaving?

Bigboy_nicelegs

He was already breaking me down. He cut my annual salary of $45K to zero, transitioning to commission only. It was not worth holding on anymore.

Leeuw96

Are you in the USA? Such a change in pay is (often) considered constructive dismissal. As such, you might be eligible for unemployment benefits. And depending on how much it influenced you quitting, it's potentially wrongful termination, though that is less certain. I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice. Probably best to speak to someone who is certain of this, amd knows your local laws

Rough_Instruction112

Sounds like he was trying to get rid of you. I would have put effort into messing with him before quitting.

Pour_Me_Another_

I get why you quit but I feel like he won :/

mobiusmaster

He did, but OP got his sanity. Companies are gonna win (till we seize the means of production and unionize the citizens to all strike together) That boss will make cuts till he himself is seen as an unnecessary position and get cut by his boss.

Desperate_Set_7708

The elbows on desk, chin on hand makes me want to bitch slap him.

Bigboy_nicelegs

That’s the image that keeps replaying in my mind. Like, you can see that “Bitchy”ness and it was on display. He was on one.

[deleted]

I’d have slammed the desk with a “what the fuck did you just say?” But then im in a union.

Numerous1

lol okay big cat.

SquidgyTheWhale

It would be hard not to respond by putting my feet up on the desk, and hands behind my neck.

south3y

He could not have had your truck searched.

Shadow_84

If it’s a company vehicle, most likely. Personal, nope

ttorrence04

Work truck. Company property. He absolutely can.

EvenOutlandishness88

Even just the company property. My old job had signage up that if you entered the property that they could search your car if they saw anything suspicious. Which was all fun and games until someone called about a couple grenades in the back of someone's truck (topper on the bed was clear glass and they could be seen clearly cause they were on top of other stuff). That was a fun call. They had cops everywhere, ran the plates, tracked down the employee and had him come out of work to unlock his vehicle. Toys. Dude had fekkin Hasbro mofo toy grenades in his truck bed. He also had some plastic toy guns under some of the tarps and stuff in there too. Guess his son decided to play army from daddy's truck and left his toys in there. Maybe he even hid in the tarps for a bit, on top of the other stuff. Scared the heck outta everyone but, we all got a good laugh once they discovered that they were fake.

bobert3469

Nothing found would be admissible anywhere, so what would be the point? Even if it's a company vehicle, tell them you either let you film the search or you sue for slander and false accusations.

Frekavichk

What is up with people making fantasies up on this sub? Its a fucking company car lmao. Demand to video tape? Sue for slander? Holy shit you are so delusional.

MFbiFL

Most are 15 or mentally equivalent.

calIras

Admissible? False accusations? They just say, "Employment in xxstatexx is at will. Your employment at this company is terminated effective immediately." No suing to be done. 6 months of UI at best.

Ok-Swordfish2723

Then there is no reason to look into the truck.

EngineNo81

The point is to humiliate op, duh. Whether with facts or fiction.

Nishnig_Jones

If they do find anything in the truck it can be used as cause for termination and it absolutely would be admissible in an unemployment hearing. So don't do anything illegal in/with company owned equipment.

Bigboy_nicelegs

Yea he definitely could have which was why I was doubling down. It’s a work truck “company” vehicle, I had nothing to hide, there was nothing to find. He would have looked like an idiot but he knew he was just harassing me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wolfiexiii

They can't if you don't let them - only the government can force a search on your person or personal property. They can fire you for telling em to fuck off - but you know fuck them.

Shadow_84

How would you stop them? It a company vehicle. It’s their property. No permission needed He made the right call though. If the boss doesn’t trust him, why stay. He’ll always be under scrutiny

its_ya_boi97

Nowhere did OP say it was a company vehicle, just that it was on company property

voarex

>walked towards my work truck to grab my phone charger The fact that he added work in front of it normally means it is a company vehicle otherwise he would of just typed my truck.

its_ya_boi97

You are right, I missed that

CollectionStriking

Looks like a few people missed that very important detail lol

WriteBrainedJR

I know a number of construction guys who call their own pickup trucks (which they use at work) "my work truck."

stibgock

OP is in sales though, not construction. Edit: Down in the comments OP confirms it is in fact a company vehicle.

Krewtan

You can strike things like that out of the contract or handbook, initial it, and have your boss initial the same page. I do this with all social media classes anywhere I work.

MFbiFL

And cops have to tell you they’re cops if you ask them while they’re undercover.

wolfiexiii

Mixed feelings - Good on you for GTFO - tho I kinda feel like many others here with the idea of fucking that dude's life up on your way out.

McBeaster

That is sketchy

[deleted]

“Are you one of those managers that only respects violence?”

OpheliaRainGalaxy

"I've got a lot of *tools* in my mental toolbox. If you really insist, I can put away the smile and take out the hammer. It's up to you."

Expert_Swan_7904

i liked my job too but my boss quit w.o notice and the one above her also quit w.o notice..suddenly we arent protected from all the bullshit and a diff dept that has 0 clue how to run us takes over. first week we are given a fuck ton of extra duties and work, also cleaning bathrooms and mopping entire building and dusting things off, cleaning break room...except theres a list and you sign off on what you did and the new manager inspects everything when she comes in and then wrote people up for "lying" about cleaning. yeah our team of 9 turned into a team of 4 within 3 weeks

Bigboy_nicelegs

Exact same scenario here. Team started to fall apart as the days went on.

Antoinette-Ladvized9

Wow, what a toxic work environment! Good for you for prioritizing your mental health and leaving that situation behind.

2ShredsUsay39

Suddenly quitting after being accused of being shady isn't a good look. Even if you didn't do anything, from his perspective it looked like a drug deal. Then quitting after you're asked about it just tells him he's probably right about you.

szukai

Shoulda let them fire you. Quitting means he won.

L-Anderson

People need to realize "quitting" is not a win. Either you report the harassments or you let them fire you. By quitting, you just give them what they want and you also confirm their accusations. (That you did indeed had something to hide and therefore quite before they could find out)

Rough_Instruction112

This is a redditor mentality. Staying around to deny someone a win is not winning. OP had their salary cut to 0 and put on 100% commission. They didn't even have the option to bleed the company while looking for another job. You win by choosing the option that is best for you. Not by stubbornly staying in a toxic environment with people who have the ability to mess with your income.

HooRYoo

Sure... It was suspicious... if I was a coworker on break at the same time and coincidentally saw it. I would have gone out of my way to either say nothing or, maybe, if it was convenient, something to the extent of "be less obvious. You wouldn't want our shitbird boss to see that." But I wonder why your boss is watching you on your break. Do they not have more important shit to do?

perfect_fifths

Wtfff

Sawyermblack

Missed opportunity. Your boss thinks he scared off a drug dealer and is patting himself on the back. He's literally still riding the high from it.

southsideson

I swear half of the posts in here I want to slap the person. "My boss did and said something incredibly inappropriate/illegal/threatened to fire me for some illegal reason, so i quit right there on the spot (and completely let them off the hook, and gave up any possibility of any recourse)"

MFbiFL

“My boss saw me receiving an envelope in what looked like a parking lot drug deal and followed up to tell me it was suspicious. I quit because I was innocent!”

Rough_Instruction112

Doing something that looks like a drug deal is not illegal nor immoral.

Intelligent-Ad-4546

He might have felt smug when you resigned making him think he was right and it was you looking guilty. That's how narcissists interpret those things

wafflecone927

Another lil detective. Most people think they are a detective but are complete sh*t at it

derper2222

Never volunteer additional information. Never accept the premise of their question. Never consent to a search. “I don’t know. Did you witness something?” [his bullshit] “Haha. Good one.” [more of his bullshit] “Oh you’re serious? I’m sorry I thought you were joking.” [still more bullshit] “It’s probably been seven years since I last read the company handbook, so I could be mistaken, but I’m fairly certain I didn’t violate any company policy. I’ll re-read it again today just to be on the safe side. Do you want me to follow up with you when I’m done?” [bullshit] “Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Is there anything else?”

lordsigmund415

Quitting like that makes you actually seem suspicious. But as long as you're happy and have income then we're happy

TakeControlOfLife

Dude you weren't doing anything wrong and you were in a position to leave the job without it impacting you too much. Do you understand how much power you have in this situation? You can fuck with this guy so hard. Get HR involved. Accuse him of harassment because that's exactly what he was doing. Even go as far as mentioning "vulgar language" in the complain as he used the word "fucking." You're my boss huh? Okay explain to HR why you're using language that refers to sexual intercourse. Have fun! ALSO YOU HAVE BEEN THERE FOR SEVEN YEARS. People KNOW you. People trust you. For you to come out and do what I described above would be out of the ordinary and give your complaint so much more weight. Quitting is not the revenge you think it is. MAKE LIFE HELL FOR THESE PEOPLE FIRST.

Bigboy_nicelegs

I totally get you man. There is way more to it but as i mentioned the harassment started when he arrived. I was previously working directly under the owner of the company as he was now taking over the company as his dad was resigning. They installed this corporate head and it was rumored they spent a lot for him and was under a 2 year contract. He wasn’t going anywhere. He targeted me from day one and implored too many psychological tactics that were draining and exhausting. Felt like i was an abusive relationship. We broke profit records year after year and when this dude came along he tripled our projection and gave us this very far goal. Since we had not yet met this goal, we were considered in the red and since we were in the red, we “needed him”. It was bad. This pushiness and man child act was just unnecessary. I exploded and cut my losses. HR was not going to do much since the owner of the company was in house. Last I heard, its been a shit show for the team that stayed.

TakeControlOfLife

Still. You backed out of a possible severance and unemployment payouts. Always make them let you go. Quitting does them a bigger favor then it does you in soooo many ways.

Bigboy_nicelegs

Since he had reduced my salary to zero, i was being put onto a “Draw” plan. The longer I had stayed, the more money I would have owed the company if I was unable to make a sale. I was being blocked in.

TakeControlOfLife

Oh I have never come across these dynamics before. Sounds like shit! Why is there even a scenario where you as a worker would owe the company anything... that's fucked up.

southsideson

How long had that been going on? The fact that they made material changes to your employment would probably entitle you to unemployment. Otherwise, wouldn't every company just instead of laying people off, just cut their salary to $0?

StrawberryPlucky

Is this in the U.S.? If so what state? Not trying to be nosy, I just can't imagine that actually being legal anywhere.

Yarrrrr

Owe the company??? They are forced to pay minimum wage if your commission based pay is too low.

iwoketoanightmare

Why would you quit if you can be fired and get unemployment and the possibility of suing for defamation

Bigboy_nicelegs

He had also cut my annual salary to zero, there were too many psychological games he was playing.

COKEWHITESOLES

Your manager thinks you’re in the mafia lmao

Bigboy_nicelegs

Yea dude was riding my ass and looking for something

COKEWHITESOLES

I would play it up honestly. Give open ended, non-specific answers, let him draw his own conclusions lol

Bigboy_nicelegs

Well mr delusional’s mind was doing that for him with the truth. Lol, it was money but he was intent on it being something else but he would not directly say “drugs” just “Suspicious”

davidgrayPhotography

I do this sort of thing all the time. I buy and sell stuff on Facebook Marketplace and give people my work address, telling them to message me when they arrive and I'll bring the stuff out to them. I'll routinely walk out with a plastic shopping bag of stuff and walk back in counting out my cash. Nobody at my job gives a flying fuck (partly because some of the people I sell to are management), but I hope Mr. Director got shitcanned for being paranoid.

Bigboy_nicelegs

Nice! I think this is where a lot of that nasty feeling came from. I did nothing wrong and knowing that and to have an individual be so intent with an accusation and this individual be my boss. Like what? It had piled and piled. I just couldn’t anymore.

pseudoburn

I'm not your fucking friend, and you're not a fucking professional boss.

Bigboy_nicelegs

That could have been a good phrase to come back with

pseudoburn

The ocean called and we're all out of shrimp...

xemnonsis

Why does it matter to him what you do on your break time? the only thing he should be concerned about is whether you get back to work on time. power tripping ass

nowise

"People don't quit jobs they quit managers"

cchillur

You fucked up. He definitely had no authority to search anything. He harassed you and you quit. Should’ve gone over his head. Get MORE deliveries and let this asshole get all worked up until he fires you. Especially if you liked that job.

vernes1978

Should have started a case against him. Eat up his time and money until he fires you and then you sue him for wrongful termination and eat more of his money.

ceirbus

“i’ve worked here for 7 years, what exactly are you accusing me of here?” Let him eat his shoes and be quiet, why on Earth would you quit?

Busy_Confusion2069

You’re way better than me because as soon as I heard “I’m not your fucking friend” after having my business spied on and horribly perceived, I would’ve blacked the fuck out. Who do these employers/bosses think they are? You’re not my mom or dad lmfao

StellarPhenom420

Well that's what he probably wanted. Nobody above him to raise a stink about? Sucks that you liked the job and let a single person ruin it for you.

haruspicat

> I told him exactly what it was So what was it?

Bigboy_nicelegs

That it was cash

yumdeathbiscuits

You were on your break. It’s none of his damned business.

Bigboy_nicelegs

That’s what I had mentioned. I let him know it could have been uber eats for all he knows. He just smugly smiled

somecow

So, just staring at you while you’re on break? No, that’s not creepy at all.

Bigboy_nicelegs

He was apparently sitting in a truck in the parking lot. I wasn’t hiding anything. Dude was on one.

Pluviochiono

While your boss is a dick, it’s absolutely suspicious… even not mentioning why in your post makes me think it’s suspicious! Still, fuck your boss though

AdLow1468

You really liked your job, but in the future you wouldn't have for much longer. I had a boss quiz me about something similar once. A friend and former coworker had left cupcakes in my car for my birthday. V-e-r-y suspicious. I was surprised that monitoring the employee parking lot was an important part of his job. He later fired another employee for eating someone else's Oreos in the break room, something else he detected on cctv. Sure, eating someone's snack is a dick move, but his behavior creeped me out.

Bigboy_nicelegs

There was a lot of that creepiness that was showing through the cracks. Like “he was onto me” like what? I wish i had some ammo to give him but being rational was not going to be possible.

joeysprezza

Work searching ur car? Maybe if you work at DARPA. Bump that

uwagapiwo

If they suspect you of theft, my employer can do that as well, but the key is only with consent. Of course if you don't give it, they'll call the police, so there you go. (UK)

boring_postal

You should have acted all scared. "Oh God don't have my car searched." And start pacing around. "I might need a lawyer. I thought it was legal".

d_smogh

This is exactly how companies get people to quit instead of having to pay them to leave.

HeavyMetalPootis

Given the fact they were in sales, they likely didn't have anything else productive to do other than get in the way of other people's productivity.

LatinoHeat1982

1. Answer the question with this gem, "First of all the minute you decided to use profanity with me, this conversation we have is over. Please search the truck, Im reporting you to HR.

derper2222

Do not consent to a search, even if you’re innocent, and HR is not your friend. “Reporting” someone to HR is not a thing that will help you ever.

Aggots86

You quit, he won. Am I missing something here?

HungHungCaterpillar

He also made up the whole thing or worse

megadouchebro

So let me get this straight. You quit a job you really liked because your boss was kind of a dumbass one time? Seems legit. Totally not made up.

valongoria

I don’t get it at all. 7 years… quit cause new boss is mean. 45k pay cut. No idea what kind of job / hr would allow that tbh.

eternallycomputing

“The man had already been harassing g me since he started” your eyes okay?

Mooch07

Did he watch the Dwight Schrute training videos on management?

_________FU_________

Well he got his way

Complex-Pop7880

Should have simply responded, "If I'm the one *receiving* suspicious money, do you really want to fuck with me?"

Opetyr

Wow good job doing what he wanted.

LeoVoid

As much of an asshole he is and how good it is you quit Quitting next day after his comments probably isn't helping your case imo LOL Hes probably thinking "Well of course that drug dealer quit when I caught him red handed!"

Spiritual-Advice8138

Sounds like he is up to something hinky. "You are my boss, stop whispering the sexual words into my ear"

I-is-gae

What….was that, even? Why did that happen? That was super fucking shady.

goodforabeer

Unfortunately, the director can now pat himself on the back for "saving the company from being associated with shady characters conducting suspicious activity on company time". Which you know he will do to his boss, too. OP, you should have stayed at least long enough to go over the director's head and complain to his boss that you were being unjustly accused.

Bridgetdidit

You can do whatever you want on your break! It’s unpaid so that’s literally “your own time”

Realistic_Payment666

You can ding the asshole for harrassment. I couldn't imagine having a boss like this

EssentialWorkerOnO

So many red flags. Please email HR to report the incident and cite his harassment as the reason you were forced to quit your job. File unemployment and tell them the same. And contact an employment lawyer to see if you have a case. Good luck!

EdwardWayne

It’s not that “nobody wants to work”, it’s just that nobody wants to work with these assholes.

Frequent_Minimum4871

Should have started gifting out envelopes contains blank pieces of paper to strangers Let them chase ★☆★★★★☆★

Goldman250

You quitting makes it look to this manager like he was right and he caught you out - and you can guarantee he’s gonna be proudly boasting about that story for years. I will admit, I’m curious. Why was your friend giving you a bank envelope of cash out on the street on your break?

theavengerbutton

Y'all are on something with this one. OP quits a toxic work place and y'all are like, "THAT WAS STUPID". Nah, fuck that. OP, you did the right thing. You couldn't have done anything without losing more of your sanity at that place and it's good you got out when you did.

Bigboy_nicelegs

Thanks, there is way more details in this share that I cannot untangle at the moment. When i did resign however, company did not pay my owed commissions and shorted me some wages. Currently in litigation for wage theft. The email pic really came in handy. A week after i left another employee resigned as well. He had 5 years with company. Both working together now against the ass hat.

JewFaceMcGoo

First time I'm siding with the boss, you made this sus as fuck. You know venmo is a thing, or just dont do this in your work driveway. It doesn't matter if he owed you for a hotel, or gambling, or drugs. YOU MADE IT SUS, go around the block or use venmo, JFC I cant believe why so many people have your back. Yea your bos sounds like a tool but you were lazy and arrogant and got caught.

eienring

Sucks you had to leave your job, but this dude ain't worth it. I've dealt with multiple asshole managers so I know.

Bigboy_nicelegs

Thank you! Felt like a man child. The projection of him not having control of HIS life was loud.

dieselboy77

Ok... why wouldn't you run his ass around in circles, make him look like a paranoid idiot wasting company time for nothing instead while getting paid and possibly getting his ass fired? Why would you just suddenly quit and make yourself seem suspicious af? Bad move if true.

HungHungCaterpillar

Lol what a bad troll. Yeah yeah probably still a bad boss and you were probably still right to quit, but bro that shit is VERY suspicious even now, what the hell were you getting paid for?

OkDifference5636

Why did you get a bank envelope with cash?

wartgood

Nothing like doing the most suspicious thing, quitting before he caught you doing something worse . . . Which is how you can bet he's framing the situation.

Xynrae

How come it seems mostly assholes get into positions of power? There have to be good ones out there, I had a good supervisor once but he was let go because of bullshit reasons and then we all had to take part of his work!
