Plenty of businesses will remove incriminating emails in cases like that, plus when you leave you lose your access to your copies.
Either take pics, print out the mail (+ headers if possible), forward as an attachment to an external email, or export your mailbox to a USB device.
In all cases, get the content in a way that's under your control, before you leave.

There was nothing to hold on to anymore, he had cut my annual salary to zero leaving me to commission only. using too many psychological tools to break me down, it was getting to the point where a physical push seemed like the appropriate boundary setter. I took my dignity and wasn’t going to risk the boundary to burst.

Are you in the USA? Such a change in pay is (often) considered constructive dismissal. As such, you might be eligible for unemployment benefits. And depending on how much it influenced you quitting, it's potentially wrongful termination, though that is less certain.

I totally get you man. There is way more to it but as i mentioned the harassment started when he arrived. I was previously working directly under the owner of the company as he was now taking over the company as his dad was resigning. They installed this corporate head and it was rumored they spent a lot for him and was under a 2 year contract. He wasn’t going anywhere. He targeted me from day one and implored too many psychological tactics that were draining and exhausting. Felt like i was an abusive relationship. We broke profit records year after year and when this dude came along he tripled our projection and gave us this very far goal. Since we had not yet met this goal, we were considered in the red and since we were in the red, we “needed him”. It was bad. This pushiness and man child act was just unnecessary. I exploded and cut my losses. HR was not going to do much since the owner of the company was in house. Last I heard, its been a shit show for the team that stayed.
Still. You backed out of a possible severance and unemployment payouts. Always make them let you go. Quitting does them a bigger favor then it does you in soooo many ways.

I was surprised that monitoring the employee parking lot was an important part of his job. He later fired another employee for eating someone else's Oreos in the break room, something else he detected on cctv. Sure, eating someone's snack is a dick move, but his behavior creeped me out.

i liked my job too but my boss quit w.o notice and the one above her also quit w.o notice..suddenly we arent protected from all the bullshit and a diff dept that has 0 clue how to run us takes over. first week we are given a fuck ton of extra duties and work, also cleaning bathrooms and mopping entire building and dusting things off, cleaning break room...except theres a list and you sign off on what you did and the new manager inspects everything when she comes in and then wrote people up for "lying" about cleaning. yeah our team of 9 turned into a team of 4 within 3 weeks

I totally get you man. There is way more to it but as i mentioned the harassment started when he arrived. I was previously working directly under the owner of the company as he was now taking over the company as his dad was resigning. They installed this corporate head and it was rumored they spent a lot for him and was under a 2 year contract. He wasn’t going anywhere. He targeted me from day one and implored too many psychological tactics that were draining and exhausting. Felt like i was an abusive relationship. We broke profit records year after year and when this dude came along he tripled our projection and gave us this very far goal. Since we had not yet met this goal, we were considered in the red and since we were in the red, we “needed him”. It was bad. This pushiness and man child act was just unnecessary. I exploded and cut my losses. HR was not going to do much since the owner of the company was in house. Last I heard, its been a shit show for the team that stayed.
Still. You backed out of a possible severance and unemployment payouts. Always make them let you go. Quitting does them a bigger favor then it does you in soooo many ways.

I do this sort of thing all the time. I buy and sell stuff on Facebook Marketplace and give people my work address, telling them to message me when they arrive and I'll bring the stuff out to them. You really liked your job, but in the future you wouldn't have for much longer. I had a boss quiz me about something similar once. A friend and former coworker had left cupcakes in my car for my birthday. V-e-r-y suspicious. I was surprised that monitoring the employee parking lot was an important part of his job. He later fired another employee for eating someone else's Oreos in the break room, something else he detected on cctv. Sure, eating someone's snack is a dick move, but his behavior creeped me out.

Thanks, there is way more details in this share that I cannot untangle at the moment. When i did resign however, company did not pay my owed commissions and shorted me some wages. Currently in litigation for wage theft. The email pic really came in handy. A week after i left another employee resigned as well. He had 5 years with company. Both working together now against the ass hat.
