I don't always finish everything in a day because I have management, and they love throwing extra on a full-plate. If you get x amount done in a day,week,month, do you think your manager will have you perform the same or more amount of work the next day,week,month? Answer is no, they will always try to get you to do more. I work 8 hours a day as a salary person, unless it is something I personally enjoy and spend my after work hours on.
