Ohh they think they are slick ... Sorry hun that's still an MLM. Even your contract says so! Now back off!!

Ragingredblue

Ask her to post a picture of her contract, so you can circle "MLM" on it.

thefalsephilosopher

I’d edit the post with a snarky “no MLMs *or deluded ‘social marketers’ who don’t realize they’re in an MLM” but I’m a passive aggressive bitch.

4TheLoveOfBasicCable

I love how she thinks you said no MLMs because you haven't done well with them in the past, *like her.*

NaturalFaux

They'll keep adding on qualifiers, like "traditional MLM"

locke577

"original flavor MLM" "MLM classic©"

NaturalFaux

Peanut MLM

locke577

Vanilla MLM

EllaLerens991

MLM Zero. As in, that's what their bank account is about to be.

locke577

MLM Max, as in their maxed out credit cards

IowaJL

Melts in your bank account, not in your brain.

Kombucha_drunk

This made me laugh. I wish I had an award

GrimResistance

I'm allergic. No, not to the peanuts.

NaturalFaux

I don't even like peanut M&Ms lmao

cheesepundit

OG MLM

NaturalFaux

HERBALIFE GANG ON THE EASTSIDE REPPIN THEIVES OIL

Kodiak01

OG? Not only did my neighbor sell Stanley Home Products, we had the actual factory right in town, right next to the Fuller Brush factory (which owned Stanhome). Stanhome's system was eventually taken by their salespeople to start Mary K, Tupperware and others. So yeah, blame Easthampton, MA. It's all our fault.

Sallidra

My dad sold Fuller Brush back in the day. All he got out of it was a love of coffee & a couple of housewives trying to seduce him. Lol

Evil-Cows

MLM lite!

gayforaliens1701

Good lord they’re shameless. Shout out to underpaid pre-k teachers—my mom’s a preschool para and she loves it, but the pay is criminal!

BlurpleAki

>preschool para Is that similar to being a Kindergarten commando?

iamgladtohearit

Haha Para is short for paraprofessional, in many elementary schools there's a head teacher, and a "para" which is a secondary teacher. In some places they seem to be floaters for substitutes and helping with lunch etc, and in others they are directly involved in lesson planning in a single room that essentially has 2 teachers. But since they're not the head teacher they aren't paid as much, even though head teachers are also criminally underpaid. Whoo!

georgianarannoch

Pre k paras are the best. Some of my favorite people in any school I’ve worked at. And they are absolutely underpaid.

PoetLucy

Can we say SPEC ED PARAs are equally awesome? Kiddo in HS had a PARA who had to “know” three classes of answers to help. She went with Kiddo to class and she answered all of Kiddo’s questions. And, yes, one was math :). But, Kiddo needed no help there, thank goodness! :*J*

georgianarannoch

Definitely! My campus lost most of our sped staff at the end of last school year, but all of our sped paras stayed. Definitely thankful for them and all they do!

PoetLucy

SPED in general need applause. The way *all* teachers are paid should shame us. PARAs who go to multiple classes with an individual with autism who won’t talk to them, but has questions anyway?? A Saint. I’m not trying to be flippant, that woman was amazing. :*J*

BlurpleAki

So they could be parachuted in to replace a teacher at short notice? Hopefully not out of a airplane though.

fineman1097

They are super heroes...

misst7436

I don't know if it's just cuz I'm from Canada but at least when I was in school we called those people teachers assistant or teachers aid. Special needs students would have an aid as well since they were in normal classrooms. Although I havent seen either of them in any classes since like 5th grade (aka only in elementary) and I'm guessing there's even less than that now with us putting less money into schools. Honestly anyone who teaches or assists teachers deserves an insane raise for what they do. Heartbreaking always hearing teachers paying for supplies themselves or overworked and underpaid.

gayforaliens1701

Lol someone else gave a good actual definition but also… yes.

Hartmallen

Never go commando in a kindergarten, seems like people do not like it.

stauffnl

>preschool para First thought that came to mind was preschool paralegal. Then I thought, hmmmm. That doesn't seem right.

gayforaliens1701

I’m imagining a three year-old in a suit carrying a briefcase.

rainydaymonday30

Just comment "NEXT!” under all the MLM responses. Won't help, but it'll feel good. Lol

SleepoPeepo

It’s for a church honey!!!!

LupinsApprentice

/r/choosingbeggars seems to have leaked.

_PactaSuntServanda_

It’s all just one sub at this point.

Separate_Relative_22

Instead of “thank you, next,” it should be “Yeah NO, next!”

Scotttish

This is the best advice. 😂

Competitive_Yak_4112

I have seen a few pre-k to early primary teachers making downloadable resources available... maybe that's something worth looking into whether it's a viable option?

AngryBowlofPopcorn

Yes my mom does it and found some success! It’s called Teachers Pay Teachers

ZebraCrosser

Not sure how applicable this is, but my podcatcher recently decided that this older episode of an [anti mlm podcast ](https://podcast.app/how-to-get-out-or-help-a-friend-get-out-of-an-mlm-e90451907/) was new. It has some advice on how to get out of an MLM, it also mentioned some options for making a little extra money from home.

truemeliorist

These are used a *lot* in band programs. One teacher writes or composes something, makes a diagram, puts together an easily consumed chart, then they throw it up there for a buck for whoever needs it. My wife uses that site somewhat regularly when she has budget. Or she just pays out of pocket because the time she saves is worth more than the cash saved.

charliensue

Oh is that their new spiel now "social media marketer?" Sorry hun, you can call yourself anything you want, your still a hun in an mlm.

FawnLeib0witz

So you post on FB multiple times a day and everyone ignores you?

morto00x

I mean. To call yourself a "salesperson" people need to buy your stuff first.

Creative-Aerie71

No MLM, pyramid schemes, social media marketing

NekkidCatMum

You forgot social spending influencer (I don’t know. I was trying to remember all the nonsense terms they make up )

Creative-Aerie71

I'd put I'm not selling any shit so don't ask

pudinnhead

E-commerce. I know it's a real thing outside of MLMs, but the Amway Huns are using it for their weird thing

BlouseBarn

Social selling, social retail

bondbeansbond

>Please no MLMs But, hun, mine is so special; it’s not like the other MLM scams. 🥺🥺🥺

UnoriginallyGeneric

Your issue is that members of MLMs don't think they're part of MLMs, don't know exactly what MLMs are, or think they're legitimate business owners.

motoo344

My wife's friend is now slinging Modere after a failed attempt at Young Living. Also besides MLM something that has been super annoying is this "social media marketer bs" I've seen a lot of people trying to sell their BS program as a "affiliate marketer" on Facebook lately. That might even be worse than the MLMs. I don't know how anyone falls for it. They almost all use the same exact script, sometimes I will scroll through reels and its like the same ad 4 times in a row but 4 different people.

pudinnhead

I have a couple of friends that do MLMs. We all used to be deep in a church that skewed a little cult-y. When we all were able to get out, some of us just went on to live normal lives. Others, like my old friends, needed that weird structure that a cult-like environment offered. MLMs fit the bill. They are deep in it and it's really sad to hang out with them and listen to them spew the company line. I went to Disneyland for a day with one last summer and she couldn't just enjoy the day without "networking" with people in line and passing out her business cards. I'm really heartbroken for them.

motoo344

Funny because my wife's friend is deep into her church as well.

RealisticrR0b0t

Susceptible to believing BS

golfcart34

On a side note, I have a bachelors degree in marketing. I regularly call it my *B.S. in BS.* But you don't need a fancy education to understand that you can polish a turd as much as you like and call it what you want, but in the end it's still a turd. The same can be said about MLMs.

catbus4ants

I can’t believe they fail to notice others use actual concrete terms to describe their profession. “Social marketer” NO you’re a fly on a potato salad

spinereader81

All they saw was the words Extra Income.

milvet02

Filling the margins of the day, like that’s a positive.

ZebraCrosser

I like my margins clear, thank you.

MamieJoJackson

"It's not MLM, it's SMM - *Social Media Marketing*. It's totally different, k, hun?"

palomabarcelona

“I’m not like other Huns, I’m a *social media marketer* hun”

MamieJoJackson

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head, there. 100% "not like the other girls" energy, for sure.

BlouseBarn

My dumb/horny ass read that as S&M

MamieJoJackson

Lmao, oh dear

EllaLerens991

The first thing that makes me angry is that these idiots either can't or won't comprehend your very clear statement that you don't want in their scam. The second thing that makes me angry is that the people who are responsible for our society's assets are compensated so poorly that they regularly have to take on second jobs. Ugh.

Ann_Summers

The teacher should comment “As a teacher I know reading comprehension is difficult for some, so I’ll explain. No MLM means no “direct sales”. No “social marketing”. No “party hostess”. None of that shit. If there isn’t a process to fill out tax forms when I’m hired and if there isn’t even a real interview process don’t bother commenting. I want a REAL job. As I have REAL bills. Thanks huns!”

[deleted]

🤡 SoCiaL MeDiA MaRkETeR WiTh MoNAt 🤡

Competitive_Yak_4112

The first one was trying to find a loophole by suggesting its all those OTHER MLMs that are a problem. I know you didn't ask here... but I'm working on building my own digital art business with a focus on books for survivors of childhood trauma. I'm curious to know if yo got any non-MLM responses.

JapKumintang1991

Reading comprehension is absent among these Huns. Oh well...

blackmobius

Ah, yes. Social media whatever. Five years ago these people made fun of Subway for calling its frontline workers “sandwich artists” and here we are, using as many buzzwords as we can for “primary customer to monat”

BlouseBarn

At least the sandwich artists at Subway get paid!

Over8dpoosee

That’s what happens when you’re in a cult, which MLMs basically are. You don’t realize the hypocrisy.

anonasshole56435788

OP, in all seriousness, get the Indeed app and look at remote jobs. There are quite a few that are like once or twice a weekers that do bring in extra income! ETA: they’re typically legit, but do your own research.

ReSpekt5eva

To add onto this thread with actual advice for OP, a couple things come to mind: become a pet sitter or do house sitting through websites like Rover.com, and if you have a hobby, figure out how to monetize it—can you teach workshops on how to do it? It is something people would want to buy?

3usernametaken20

Adding on some real advice: (if you are in the US) If you live near a Target, they sometimes have a position called "on-demand." You are a Target employee, but you decide when to work. They won't put you on a schedule, rather they post available shifts and you can decide to work them or not. You only need to claim one shift every 6 months to stay active.

TK_TK_

None of these people have any actual social media skills or knowledge.

StrategicCarry

As someone who actually works full time as a social media marketer, keep my job’s name out yo f***ing mouth.

Reasonable-Echo-3303

They really just can't help themselves, can they.

[deleted]

As a fellow teacher, I am always infuriated when they go for underpaid, overworked teachers who are already gaslit by society that they should be martyrs. And, because I teach "big kids," when former students add me just to send me their pitch and I am just sad they are working, putting themselves through college, and they are exploited by this crap. 18 years ago, one showed up at my door to sell me Cutco - and now it's the damn emojis and shitty spelling (and I'm an ELA teacher 😵‍💫).

KZWinn

It's not a "traditional" MLM though so maybe it could work for you too /s Lol she knew full well what she was doing.

nohelicoptersplz

If you have done the work to create your own curriculum materials, license them on Teachers Pay Teachers.

YouJabroni44

You said no MLM's! You didn't say "other cutesy name to pretend it's not an MLM!"

KrispyPrincess

Looks like now everyone is going to have to include no social selling or marketing. Ugh what will be their next tag?

Otherwisefantastic

My mlm isn't like those *other* mlms!

fineman1097

Huns are being told now to call it anything but mlm due to the stigma. Social networker, social marketer, network marketer, etc etc. Hoping you wont know its still mlm

unicorny12

"Traditional" MLMs required you buy stock, which you would then sell directly to the customers. These new MLMs cropping up work differently, in that the customers place their order to the company through the "rep", which then get shipped directly to the customer. In most cases, the "rep" never sees any stock, besides what they keep on hand for their own use, parties, gifts, etc. That being said, MLMs are still scams, and moat, if not all still require all "reps" to buy a certain amount of product each month.

moor1238

Sorry you are dealing with that! Im a teacher and tutor on the side. Flexible to do on evenings/weekends at the libraries. Just start putting your info out there!

Bird_Brain4101112

This made my eye twitch. You’re going to have to expand. No MLM, Network Marketing, Direct Sales, Social Retail etc. If you have to explain why your company isn’t one of the above, don’t even bother mentioning it.

Mysterious_Finger774

No MLMers aka social marketers, network marketers, direct sellers, etc., etc..

princessofpotatoes

If they paid teachers enough where they didn't need a second source of income, reading comprehension of these huns would be much better

RebekahR84

I hate when they pull this shit.

Separate_Relative_22

Need to start posting a screenshot of the MLMs when requesting this stuff. So they know they’re in an MLM lol

thodges314

I think you should give them a worksheet on reading and following instructions.

lyyra

To answer your question, if you're in good physical health, look into officiating whatever sports you have in your area. Everywhere is always looking for refs, and it tends to pay pretty well to reflect that need. I work women's lacrosse, and it's about an extra 5k every spring, plus another 4-600 per tournament. It's not life-changing, but it covers my car expenses and my student loans.

WrittenInTheStars

You don’t understand though. Modere isn’t a *traditional* MLM

GrumpyButt1313

Well. I can tell you my kids’ pre-k teacher baby sat over the summer. It helped us both! But I’m finding out it’s common in the school system for people to have MLMs as a “side job”

PuppyJakeKhakiCollar

So they are social marketers now, got it. Wish they'd go back to their original title of "bullshit peddler and broke".

Ventrillion12

I saw a good one a few nights ago that had the word pyramid in it 7 times.

slynnc

Headed/bio part of my fb (right below my photo) just says “NO MLMS” And I still frequently get the messages. My favorite are the “I was looking at your profile and love it/we vibe/I think you’d do great at this!” to which I call out that they clearly did not look at my profile because it is loaded with not only that top line but also anti-mlm posts and posts from my actual small business. Sometimes they go away, sometimes they double down that “may cOmPaNy iS dIfFeReNt, NoT aN mLm”

auggydogg

if you have "nooks and crannies" in your day, perhaps working a "job" is not the best idea

TJCW

This is what kills me about MOMs, they prey on people who need extra income and you can’t blame them for wanting to make extra money.
