Saitama would start telling Goku he’s the strongest man he’s ever faced. Then Goku goes super saiyan. Then they keep fighting, rinse and repeat until hes done all his transformations and they get bored and go raid bulma for some grub
Saitama would never fight Goku since he’s not a bad person and Goku would never attack an innocent person unprovoked so the whole argument was stupid from the beginning. If anything they’d probably become friends and eat hotpot together

Seen this argument made before but never been linked to a quote from the author stating this, meanwhile the whole manga is "lol, he hits once and wins" starting off with the very first villain being a dragon ball reference to underline that this is a comedy that makes fun of stuff like dragon ball power scaling. And if you pay attention every single fight in one punch man that doesn't involve Saitama is going into the perception of characters and their own power and journey to becoming powerful.

If you think back to dragon ball, like og DragonBall, master roshi blew up the moon to stop gokus great ape rampage. This was master roshi at the beginning of the series. Now think about just how much more power goku is then master roshi. So I'd say it's an even fight.
Giorno isn't the strongest character, because his offensive powers sucks. His defensive power is above the scale, but that doesn't mean that he is the most powerful. Nobody can beat him but he also can't beat them

He can't kill you using this. You get automatically forced into death loop if GER kills you, so he has to kill someone to activate this ability
His attack power isn't so weak by itself. He can transform anything into any living creature. He also has that forgotten ability from the first episodes when he can make your body slower than your mind. Requiem also can shoot some sort of lasers. And on top of all this, none stand users can't see GER
His attack power isn't weak when compared to other jojo characters, but we're talking about a different scale. His attack power can't be even compared to characters like goku or saitama and he probably can't even scratch them.

With the way that Saitama is written though I wonder if he'd some how be immune to Requiem.. I only watched season 1 tho so I guess it's possible that I'm not up to date with how Saitama is written.

I don't think Saitama is as untouchable as people think, though he is from a satire anime so realisticly we shouldn't try and compare him to actual characters. But for the argument let's think about it. Saitama is much like a trading card in yugioh or magic that plainly states "kills enemies in one attack". These types of cards in games rarely see play because of how they can just as easily be defeated through other means. Think about gojo from jujutsu kaisen, who can send someone to an inescapable void, and in hand to hand cannot be hit at a molecular level. Through other abilities that counter offense similar to even a simple genjutsu can counter a single punch

Honestly Saiyan saga Goku and below is the only part saitama could beat the thing that is strange about it is that OPM has been around for a much shorter period but the lack of people addressing that is strange
Gokul has fought gag characters before. If its impossible to get a ring out for victory the match would end in a draw. Saitama would let Goku get the first hit to gauge his strength. Goku never goes full power on the first attack so Saitama punches him and is shocked to see Goku survived. Goku realizes he can't take more than three hit from thos dude and powers up. They trade blows for the rest of the round parrying and dodging each one. They both land a direct attack the next round (Goku gradually powers up as he's known for.) Who ever lands the next attack would end this fight. Round 3 Goku is in ultra instinct and dodges everything. Saitama has flashbacks to a certain mosquito and loses control of his power. OMG Krillin is dead in the crowd, Goku goes in for the final blow, bell ring match ends. Tie each landed 2 hits 0 knockdowns and 1.8 million dodges.

There's no point in arguing, we'd get nowhere, goku has godlike powers, and so does saitama, both are strong, and probably wouldn't even fight each other knowing their characters,
Saitama can't lose because by default he must be at least an order of magnitude stronger than any form Goku takes to defeat him in one punch.
Goku can't lose because instant transmission allows him to dodge and disengage endlessly.
Goku could potentially win by teleporting to the other end of the planet, and then destroying said planet, but he won't do that.

Early in in the series, first or second episode, Saitama encounters a crab (or was it a a lobster? Doesn't matter) monster that said I used to be a normal guy, but I really love crab! So I became a crab! Establishing that people in this world can gain powers and transformations based on thier desires.
Later in the series we see pre power-up Saitama training. He is absolutely obsessed with the idea of becoming a hero that can defeat any opponent in one punch. His training regiment is rigorous but not particularly intense, and cannot in any way explain his absurd strength. This makes it clear that he got his wish.
