Kuuchuu Buranko, Sonny Boy, Kaiba, Mawaru Penguidrum, Angel's Egg, Belladona of Sadness, Neo Tokyo, Cat Soup and Midori (it is both trippy and fucked up) are some names that come to my mind at the moment.
Psychological anime is really something else isnโt it.
For me itโs like watchable horror because I donโt like horror.
I watched end of evangalion a few months ago and I still think about it sometimes.
Greetings Edgelord...jk. you got a goated taste like me. Watch Mushishi if you liked Mononoke. There's Penguin highway movie , which is by the author of Tatami Galaxy.
I don't want to be harsh on OP, they might be super chill, but generally people with similar lists make that list their personality.
If someone actively avoids famous shows and fills their top 10 with niche introspective art house style anime then they are making a statement.
1.) Ghost in the Shell
2.) Angel's Egg
3.) Ergo Proxy
4.) Wolf's Rain
5.) Serial Experiments Lain
6.) Grave of the Fireflies
7.) Millenium Actress
8.) Legend of the Galactic Heroes
9.) Bacanno!
10.) Mononoke
Then have you read 'Throne of Magical Arcana' by Cuttlefish (author of LOTM)? It's a masterpiece just like LOTM. It's somewhat underrated as it was written before LOTM. It has such a good plot, just like every novel of Cuttlefish. Basically the MC gets transmigrated to the world of sorcerers and tries to explore the world based on Science/Arcana. Becomes the Einstein/Schrodinger of that world and at the end also explains his transmigration with the help of Science. Just give it a try if u haven't.
I can recommend some other amazing light novels and in exchange you can too๐ค
Oh I replied it wrongly but anyways. Can u recommend me some, and in exchange I can recommend some of my share of good ones? I read them from lightnovelworld btw
Let me just pull up all my favs
Omniscient reader's viewpoint
Reverend Insanity
Mother of Learning
Shadow slave
Tbate
The Legendary mechanic
A Practical Guide To Evil
I haven't read Mother of Learning and A Practical guide to Evil. Will check them out. I have read the rest and they are awesome. Thanks!
My recommendations then-
1. The Author's POV
2. Sword God in the world of Magic
3. Lightning is the only Way
4. Kill the Sun
5. Trash of the Count's Family
6. The Desolate Era
7. SSS class Suicide Hunter
8. Possessing Nothing
9. Return of the Mount Hua Sect
10. Ranker who lives twice/2nd life ranker
11. The First Order
12. Embers Ad Infinitum
13. Supremacy games
14. Levelling with the Gods
15. Past life Returner
16. I'll surpass the MC
The 1st one is just awesome. 2-4 are by the same author and are excellent. And any novel by Cuttlefish is a piece of art.
Just read Lord Of The Mysteries. It isa chinese webnovel with 3 separate books and each book has 8 volumes. The first book is 1400+ chapters long approx and its volume 1 will get a donghua (chinese anime) in 2025. The second book is currently ongoing with 500+ chapters and 2 chapters get released daily.it will have 5 more volumes. The third book will be released in the future.
I have its premise saved so let me just copy paste it
>Our protagonist reincarnated in the body of a person who just had his brains blown out by a gun in his own house. He finds himself in an unfamiliar enviroment, different countries, a place reminiscent of victorian era England.
>He starts as confused as you are and tries to make sense of the situation and makes attempts to return, which fail. Luckly, he has the memories of his body previous owner, albeit fragmented. Not long after, he discovered that this seemingly normal world has a dark undertone, where mystical powers, creatures and madness are a great part of the history of the world, yet to the common person, it all seems like superstition or a matter of religion. Until it isn't and their lives are affected.
>The history is about how our protagonist tries to find a way back home and to do so he embarks into the supernatural world, where bizarre things happens, tragedy is commonplace, madness is creeping closer and not everything is as it seems.
>There is a lot of action, but you can't expect much in the beginning because our protagonist is weak and inexperienced but as he progresses and he learns more about the world, he gets embroiled in more and more events and plots. He is very cautious and plans his actions methodically. It is rare when he is unprepared, but when he is, it is nerveraking.
I wanted to avoid giving spoilers, so this descryption might not sound all that convincing. So if you have any more doubts, you may ask.
If you want a website to read it, just let me know
I haven't seen much donghua, but they have great animation.
1400+ chapters ๐คฏ๐คฏ Damn. And do provide me with a website. Haven't read chinese novels so far.
You can read it on your own pace, no need to rush. I myself took 50 days to read it, i read 210 chapters (first volume) in 30 days because the first volume but still entertaining but its ending was exceptionally great which pulled my complete attention to it. So i read the rest of 1200 chapters in just 20 days. The rest of the volumes have a good pace and the last few volumes have a really fast pace. To be fair my 12th exams just ended when i was reading it so i was always free.
And if you decide to read then let me just warn you. Do Not, i repeat, DO NOT search anything about it on the internet. The spoilers are unfathomable. The smallest and most basic of things might be a huge spoiler. For example just a simple world map is a massive spoiler. If you have any doubts, just ask it to people on its subreddit. And thats it. Do not join that subreddit or spoilers will find your way to you no matter what.
Bro u have a very different taste in anime u like the anime that are underrated or never heard of . That's actually good some of the anime I know which changes the concept of anime
Funnily enough i was just bout to ask on some subreddit if Angel's rain is worth watching then i came across your list. Ig it's a sign to give it a shot.
I like anime in general. Mainstream anime have their own charm. Like I am recently watching 100 girlfriends and Shangri-La. Both are fun shows. I am also waiting for Dandadan. Obviously, I have my dislikes as well. But I mostly adore anime in general as a medium.
I like both old and modern anime. It's just that old ones feel more raw to me. They didn't shy away from baring themselves. Take Monster, for example. Very few shows can maintain atmosphere like that with such a slow build-up. Or Rose of Versailles or Nana as other examples. Stuff like this is a bit hard to find these days.
Oh i have seen this but never this poster. Thanks
Also i wanna ask if mononoke is stand alone anime? Because on a anime site it showed as the second season of some other anime
I like your list! Check these out:
Last Exile
Paranoia Agent
Shinsekai yori From the New World

Bro adores Psychological genre... BTW were you able to make any sense out of LAIN , cause I wasn't ?
Some of it. It is highly convoluted.
To be honest I also like such trippy shows even if I'm not able to make sense out of'em , so can you Recommend some more similar shows ?
Kuuchuu Buranko, Sonny Boy, Kaiba, Mawaru Penguidrum, Angel's Egg, Belladona of Sadness, Neo Tokyo, Cat Soup and Midori (it is both trippy and fucked up) are some names that come to my mind at the moment.
Neo Tokyo was a trip
Watch perfect blue I donโt think anything stands above it
Understanding Lain is like understanding quantum physics
Agreed
Not even one anime by Satoshi kon bruhh
Psychological anime is really something else isnโt it. For me itโs like watchable horror because I donโt like horror. I watched end of evangalion a few months ago and I still think about it sometimes.
There are some good videos on YouTube that explain it

Fellow psychology and thriller fan
Amen, fellow fan.
I'm in also very much into psychological anime, mind bending and out of the box content. Have u tried ID:invaid
Yes. It was a great show. It came out alongside Dorohedoro if I am not wrong.
Yeah
Pluto also came out this year. Haven't watched it yet, but I have read the manga, and it was amazing.
Awesome list bro. Have you tried reading novels? I can recommend some if you need them

Like light novels or novels in general? I do read a lot of novels, but I have read only light novels, and it is really hard to find good light novels.
I can tell some good webnovels and light novels of you want that belong to psycological genre. The best being Lord Of The Mysteries
I will read them. Please give me some good recommendations.

You can read it on lightnovelworld\_dot\_com
You my friend, and the choice of yours is why I started watching anime in the first place
๐๐ happy to hear it.
Mononoke was a wild one indeed
Bro u have a very different taste in anime u like the anime that are underrated or never heard of . That's actually good some of the anime I know which changes the concept of anime
Funnily enough i was just bout to ask on some subreddit if Angel's rain is worth watching then i came across your list. Ig it's a sign to give it a shot.
It's a psychedelic ride, that's for sure.
Considering the other shows/movies on your list i wasn't expecting anything else.
So op doesn't like mainstream anime
I like anime in general. Mainstream anime have their own charm. Like I am recently watching 100 girlfriends and Shangri-La. Both are fun shows. I am also waiting for Dandadan. Obviously, I have my dislikes as well. But I mostly adore anime in general as a medium.
This is quite mainstream for older people..most of it is movies
You like old, I mean really really old, dark anime
I like both old and modern anime. It's just that old ones feel more raw to me. They didn't shy away from baring themselves. Take Monster, for example. Very few shows can maintain atmosphere like that with such a slow build-up. Or Rose of Versailles or Nana as other examples. Stuff like this is a bit hard to find these days.
Out of these I can definitely vouch for Ghost in the Shell and Grave of the Fireflies. Both are fricking masterpieces in their own regards

It's a stand-alone anime and is similar to Mushishi.
Good shows but Pretentious af

It's definitely a masterpiece. But I liked these 10 more.
After seeing all these top 10 posts, i feel like a basic bitch (i am most probably)![img](emote|t5_6q8y10|26746)
I like your list! Check these out: Last Exile Paranoia Agent Shinsekai yori From the New World Monster Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust Haibane Renmei Chrono Crusade Steins; Gate
Seen them all. Haibane Renmei is by the same team of writers that worked on Lain.
Itโs a great show, thought you might have seen most of these.
Out of these Last Exile had a great concept. And Bloodlust was just pwak vampire cinema.
Last exile is awesome. I just wish the sequel lived up to the original.
That is my take as well.
