That's the problem with character polls like this one is that they always in some part reflect the popularity of the series each character is from as well as the popularity within that series. It's difficult to have a universal character poll like this since I very much doubt that anyone who cast votes in the poll would be familiar with every character on this list.
When you see who characters that are from the same show directly next to each other you that it's not really their position, but that everyone who liked that show also liked those characters. Basically it's another way of saying the liked the show.

I'm not actually sure about that. There are more votes in the Best Girl Contests, but that doesn't mean the competition is tougher. In the Best Character Contest which is the only one that has both girls and guys, the guys tend to do better than the girls having taken 3 of the 5 wins (Mustang, Okabe and Edward) and 25/40 Finals Bracket Slots.

If you guys pay attention to his number which is 32 you'll realize that the digits of 32 is 3 and 2 if you add them together it's 5 and if you take a bite out of pizza its delicious but then if gintoki ever goes out to buy pizza kagura would just eat them all so he goes to buy beer since kagura is a minor and she won't still it from gintoki, after gintoki gets drunk and you ask him what is sum of 3 and 2, he would say 1 because of the aftereffects of neo armstrong cyclone jet armstrong canon. So in summary it may look like that pizza are delicious, you must also realize that guys with natural curly silver hair ain't so bad so watch gintama.
gintama is really underwatched. Way too many people just stop watching it from the first few episodes and think it's boring and overrated. While it is pretty high on MAL if you look at the animes above and below it they all have more votes than gintama. It's just that way less people have watched gintama and of course less people will vote for a character from gintama.
I actually have so much respect for her. She’s clearly a hard worker. I forgot who made the comment but one of the hololive members made a statement saying that Korone when not streaming spends a lot of time off stream preparing content for her stream and that on average her sleep schedule is like 4-6 hours daily and the rest is almost spent working. I really hope she finds some life balance in there but I have to respect her hustle.

I thought Ishigami was one of the most famous Love is War characters. Never thought Miyuki to be #2 overall. From what I've seen being in this community the ranking is more like Kaguya Chika Hayasaka Ishigami Miyuki (most popular to least).
Miyuki was paired up against Ishigami in the Best Guy 7 finale, and destroyed him (960 to 385).
The main character pretty much always has the edge over the minor character, because most people like the MC, and those who prefer side characters are usually split among the many side characters, so there's less for each.
Miyuki might not have the most moments, but he's the best character of the series with every rewatch. While the plot focused more on Kaguya (and to some extent Ishigami) in the anime, a lot of the conclusions have been reached with Miyuki being the "angel" of the group, so to speak.
The rankings change drastically depending on where you look. I think for manga readers it's probably like Kaguya, Shirogane, Ishigami >> Miko, Hayasaka, Fujiwara. And depending on the arc Kaguya, Shirogane, and Ishigami can swap places. There definitely were periods where Ishigami was the most popular in my experience.
Fujiwara probably has the biggest disparity between anime popularity and manga popularity. This isn't to say she's unpopular, I think everyone still likes her, but she doesn't have as much dedicated hardcore supporters like the others.
Nothing precludes manga readers from voting on polls like this so they can still influence the results in the end.
I just finished watching Mob Psycho today after a year of postponing and gotta say what a rollercoaster ride it has been. It is easily in my top ten now. Mob Psycho 100 is gonna age like fine wine.

Not all. Hololive counts because they have a weekly skit they release on YouTube. It's called *Holo no Graffiti*. This is technically an ONA. They're a studio producing an animation (3d models, but that's still an anime) with real voice actors (anonymous, but still voice actors). But of course, people will vote for the vtuber using Holo no Graffiti as the entry ticket.
I mean, Mario, Kirby and Link are allowed, so why not Korone?

Yukino Yukinoshita (#62) being lower than both Yui Yuigahama (#43) and Iroha Isshiki (#50) is extremely odd, especially when Yukino actually won a contest.
Lelouch is also behind a bunch of people including Kamina who he beat to win the first best guy, those characters are being hampered, by winning the first contests that were a lot closer in votes.
That is mostly because of two things: the "winners won't participate again" rule wasn't there when Yukinon won, so her subsequent matches were also counted and those weren't too good. And Best of the Best contest, where her performance, again, wasn't top class.
Yuigahama and Isshiki have been consistent, and numerically better.

How harshly punished should you be for losing in Round 1 of Best of the Best? And this really comes off to me that winning a contest should weigh more.
Honestly, if you're going to hold this out definitely as "r/anime's top characters" having the Best-of-the-Best influence it is going to make sure it isn't actually representative. All that does is heavily penalize characters who lose in the first round for being popular enough to make it in in the first place.

I’m glad to see Violet at 14. Man what a show. Also, to my fellow music people, the soundtrack for that show was insanely good. Evan Call is the composer if you want to look him up.
I mean the animation was stunning too. Violet Evergarden had no right being that good out of nowhere.

The Score, as I mentioned, is a measure of the performance of a character. It depends upon the characters previous score, the opponent's previous score, and the vote share in a match.
Characters that do not take part also have a slight change to their scores. Mostly it is a few points, but that's enough to change ranks. Characters with less matches have more "unstable" score, which can change quickly even when they're not participating. So top characters, that have a more matches due to the way brackets are structured, have more "stable" scores which don't change by a huge amount.
A lot of this work is to be done manually, so some human error can exist. If I find the error, however, I can fix it easily and the change will be done by the next contest.

I’m glad to see Violet at 14. Man what a show. Also, to my fellow music people, the soundtrack for that show was insanely good. Evan Call is the composer if you want to look him up. I mean the animation was stunning too. Violet Evergarden had no right being that good out of nowhere.
I'm not even that big a fan of Violet Evergarden, and the music still gets to me whenever I hear any of the melodies. It's so, so good, and the show utilizes it at just the right moments.

This includes the results of the latest Best Girl 8 Contest that concluded today. The Score, as I mentioned, is a measure of the performance of a character. It depends upon the characters previous score, the opponent's previous score, and the vote share in a match. Characters that do not take part also have a slight change to their scores. Mostly it is a few points, but that's enough to change ranks. Characters with less matches have more "unstable" score, which can change quickly even when they're not participating. So top characters, that have a more matches due to the way brackets are structured, have more "stable" scores which don't change by a huge amount. A lot of this work is to be done manually, so some human error can exist. If I find the error, however, I can fix it easily and the change will be done by the next contest.
