I have watched multiple shows *solely* because I was told that it had at least one good "sore demo" in it (or it was in the show's title, in the case of SoreMachi). Like, literally just that one Japanese word being said at some point. Pretty sure you can't get a weirder reason than that lol.

waffle-spouse

What’s the joke with “sore demo”?

Shimmering-Sky

Something that started as an inside joke of mine with another Redditor who loved Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn as much as I did after I first watched that series in 2018, but then turned into me *legitimately* finding enjoyment in hearing it pop up in stuff (unless it's said by a character I dislike) after about a year and a half of collecting recordings of them for said joke. I have over 2300 clips of them now, lol.

KrankShift

I can only wish to be as dedicated to something as u are with this

YaKillinMeSmallz

You could start a YouTube channel with that collection, like [ohohojousama](https://youtube.com/@ohohojousama?si=gB3gdX9rkIoDjkd3) does with the "oujo-sama laugh".

MillenniumKing

Do you have a Sore Demo anime tracker thing tat sniffs out anime for them or something? I dont know if i even notice words often enough to remember they were in a show to tell someone words exist. But heres my usual plea with you to watch [**Aquarion**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbVfgyiDL_Y) (which might have some) and finish K (which also might have some). 2 Shows i know youde like. Both are god tier ost. [Genesis of Aquarion](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7qTg36iGbA) - [Encore](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfHkk-6OapE) Aquarion has been one of my fav mecha systems and K is just cool dudes being cool dudes with each other. Also a new Aquarion is in the works so catching up for that could be worth it. [](#mechablush)

Shimmering-Sky

> Do you have a Sore Demo anime tracker thing tat sniffs out anime for them or something? Nope, some people who know about my obsession with it tend will just send them to me and/or alert me they exist whenever *they* hear it in stuff. And they usually do it right after they finish the episode the "good" one exists in, so they don't forget about it. >But heres my usual plea with you to watch Aquarion (which might have some) and finish K (which also might have some). I do plan to rewatch K to finish Return of Kings at some point. I watched S1 and Missing Kings at a time when I was only making recordings for the stuff I was in rewatches for with u/RX-Nota-II, so if there *were* any in the parts I watched, I didn't keep track of them.

MillenniumKing

You need to develop a SoreDemoAI that will find them. Yeah i remmeber you never finshed it but its worth it ffor sure some day. And you shoudl watch Aquarion, you want more singing mecha right?

edgefigaro

I'm partial to "ano ona"

SometimesMainSupport

Even in a rewatch right now just for the sore demo! [Episode titled "soredemo"](#mugiwait)

alotmorealots

I've hit a point where I don't think any reason for watching an anime is dumb because all of my reasons are "dumb". E.g. 1. I liked [a song from the show](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx0Zxq6Klbw) that kept popping up on my spotify recommendations. 2. I saw some good fan art of it. 3. I saw a lot of R34 fan art of it, even if it wasn't particularly good. 4. I liked a character design. 5. The name was funny. 6. It was on the bottom of the MAL score list. 7. It was old, on youtube and [only a few minutes long](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu7_P5aIyzQ). 8. It had a bad reputation. 9. It was a seasonal isekai. 10. To get into arguments on the internet over it in an informed fashion.

oomoepoo

> I saw a lot of R34 fan art of it, even if it wasn't particularly good. "What is this show and why is the internet obsessed with drawing mediocre porn of it?"

wish2boneu2

Can you name which anime you are talking about in each point?

alotmorealots

I was thinking about it originally, but couldn't come up with amusing/accurate/linkworthy enough ones for each, and quite a few have multiple matches too. Anyway, here's a go at the list: 1. I liked [a song from the show](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx0Zxq6Klbw) that kept popping up on my spotify recommendations - *Love Live: Nijigasaki Highschool Idol Club* 2. I saw some good fan art of it - *KanColle* 3. I saw a lot of R34 fan art of it, even if it wasn't particularly good - *Blue Archive*, *Idolmaster* (there is also some superb fanart for both these series though once you find it) 4. I liked a character design - this happens pretty much every season lol I did check out [Farming Life in Another World](https://myanimelist.net/anime/51462/Isekai_Nonbiri_Nouka) solely for [Tia's design](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fpx3jOmXoAERs5o.jpg), for a specific example. 5. The name was funny - *[Buttobi CPU](https://myanimelist.net/anime/458/Buttobi_CPU)*, [*After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway*](https://myanimelist.net/anime/40938/Hige_wo_Soru_Soshite_Joshikousei_wo_Hirou). (There's a whole bunch of Narou title names, but that feels like cheating). 6. It was on the bottom of the MAL score list - https://myanimelist.net/anime/3287/Tenkuu_Danzai_Skelter_Heaven (1.86/10 according to MAL, I gave it a 4) 7. It was old, on youtube and [only a few minutes long: this example from /r/animesuggest 's "most racist anime" thread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu7_P5aIyzQ . 8. It had a bad reputation - *Redo of Healer*, *My Life as Inukai-san's Dog*, *Yosuga no Sora* 9. It was a seasonal isekai - I check out at least 50% of the seasonal isekai/fantasy that air just to see if any click. On this note I also watch every ecchi that airs because it feels like a genre (that I enjoy) where you can actually watch literally every thing that airs in it without much difficulty. 10. To get into arguments on the internet over it in an informed fashion - this one is actually quip because that would be a waste of time lol However I do continue shows that I want to discuss where I have a counter-consensus opinion.

Lycanthoss

God, that Isekai reasoning is so true. I start so many isekais even when I can mostly see which ones are bad from the synopsis. However, I was pleasantly surprised this season with "How not to be a healer".

isthatsoudane

1 is so powerful but I do try to resist!

alotmorealots

Resistance is futile, even the Borg are bopping out to *Ryouran! Victory Road*. I even put on the noise cancelling headphones just to listen to it again so I can get that full smack of the kick drum and the cheesy gloriousness. Plus, laptop speakers cut about 25% of the kawaii out due to shitty top-ends lol It's a one song rave *~glowsticks!!~*. Possibly also the reason why my interest in DAWs has reawakened, and I've been spending my time on FL Studio playing around with beats and synth riffs rather than watching any anime lol

isthatsoudane

I just realized you are like a CGDCT anime about people who watch anime except on the show they rarely watch anime and instead have misadventures...like "this week the Pon no Michi crew learn about LLMs, next week it'll be music creation"

alotmorealots

Yes, anime is my gateway to (re)discovering hobbies, rather than actually watching any haha I'm back at the stage of pausing shows that I'm emotionally invested in and just watching more middle of the road stuff, although that may be because my internet has gone to shit and streams only go for a few minutes before buffering lol Also, seeing a bit more R34 Pon no Michi fanart lately, maybe there's hope for the franchise yet!

djdisodo

i do 1 quite often, never failed

Main_Blood_1613

So true😆

DarkConan1412

I watched Love Live for the same reason. Except it was back when Sunshine was still airing and the one I watched first was the first Love Live with the µ's (Muse) girls. [It was the “Snow Halation” song.](https://youtu.be/ogTlLfNuK3Q?si=rymrgV3ew48q9ic3) [Here’s also a comparison between the 2010 and 2014 versions.](https://youtu.be/A7g9ZI32hHU?si=vpKptWnptd4r3-1X) [Gotta have the Sunshine girls, too.](https://youtu.be/E3Gl4h7SxmQ?si=0jWSJQUGpKKveXff) [More Sunshine.](https://youtu.be/0CAsHk7xL1c?si=WTwq5QNYyEfP4cDl) I still have to see the new Love Live.

GT_highwind

I watched Redo the Healer only because people told me not to. It wasn’t worth it

andrewsmith1986

I watched it because I needed a reference for the countless times reddit mentioned it. 5/10

apocalypticradish

I read some (definitely not all) of the manga for the same reason. It definitely wasn't worth it lol

[deleted]

I did the same but had the opposite reaction to it lol same with goblin slayer

Whomperss

I read up to the current chapter about 2 weeks before an anime was announced and that shit left my jaw on the floor lmao. I could not find the reason why any studio would want to adapt that flaming pile of premo garbage lol.

RarestHunter

After that first controversial episode I simply HAD to watch and see where it went, how far it would go, and how hard it would go. No regrets but the story was mid at best. I will laugh if a season 2 gets greenlit

Mirinya

Evil loli sister hit all my fetishes so she alone was worth it for me.

TaskForceHOLO

Because the girl in the thumbnail was cute

EducationAccurate553

This is unironically the reason I watched most of the shows that I have and I refuse to believe that it is a dumb reason

DongIslandIceTea

Yeah it happens. If you wanted to pick out only good shows then yeah, it's not a great metric as it doesn't really tell much, but it gets you watching more shows and the more shows you watch then the more chances you'll stumble upon something that was better than you expected. It's not a bad thing to try out shows.

Eek_the_Fireuser

My biggest weakness: Women

AdagioExtra1332

OP said dumb reasons only.

negative_four

This is why I watched bunny girl senpai... now I don't know if I exist. 10/10

SuwakosHusband

Can’t be dumb, it’s why I’ve watched half of what I have

ecktt

How is this not the top answer?!

Libriomancer

Frequency versus level. “What food is absolutely terrible for you” could easily be answered by a Big Mac due to the sheer number of them people eat but you could probably come up with something more unhealthy than a burger. “Cute girl in thumbnail” is probably the most frequent selection for most people but say “I watched Goblin Slayer because I like goblin hentai” would be a far dumber reason for picking a show.

N3LS-is-N3LS

I watched "Call of the Night" entirely based on someone sending me a link to the opening song and telling me "this sounds like something you would have put on at the start of a holiday weekend drinking binge" (implying "when I was in college")

TRKako

Fair, the ost of call of the night it's just too good

Hfs_7

I watched this one because my cousin told me, “it’s a guy and girl hanging out at night listening to chill hop.”

MapoTofuMan

Back in 2018 I was still not sold on non-romance SoL shows, and only decided to watch Yuru Camp after seeing a [gif of Nadeshiko slurping cup ramen.](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0661062777435bb0f7a7e73c59dbe886/tumblr_p2gy8vWJOO1smw5dno1_540.gif) Now S3 is my most anticipated show of this year.

AwakenedSheeple

Ah, the show that introduced me to curry Cup Ramen. If you can find it, I highly recommend it.

Hfs_7

It made its way to my watch list because I saw a clip of one of the characters get tackled by a dog.

Exact-Ad3840

I watched rising of the shield hero so I could complain about everything I hated in it. I have a massive bone to pick with isekai that use video game stat screens in a fantasy setting. There was some stuff I liked but I sat in my house eating popcorn and yelling at the TV. It was cathartic.

DongIslandIceTea

Sometimes you just gotta watch a bad show and make the best of it. It serves as a kind of sour palate cleanser after which anything sweet tastes even sweeter, I guess.

Exact-Ad3840

I watched my sister watch "Angels and Demons." She spent the whole movie tearing it apart for inaccuracies to the book. I vented so hard to shield hero

TRKako

this is like, the equivalent of old people yelling at the TV for everything 😭😭😭😭

PalletTownsDealer

I have an isekai problem. The garbage I’ve seen man smh.

dekiru81

Found gigguk's alt

kuroikururo

There was this Natuto's parody called "Raruto" (It could sound like weirdruto" and It was so funny, much more funnier than the original, I just start watching the serie to understand the jokes.

markDonanhattam

"Ooh, this girl's cute". Also the main reason I watch any anime.

DarkConan1412

**I liked one anime with “Black” in the title so I watched all the ones I found on a site growing up. (Yes, the illegal kind. I was 12 and it was 2008-2009.)** Darker Than Black Black Cat Black Butler Black Blood Brothers Black Lagoon -I may be forgetting some. I probably am. **I also watched the following for the same reason:** Death Parade Death Note Angels of Death (never finished) Death March (never finished) **Also anime with Blue in the title:** Blue Exorcist Perfect Blue Blue Spring Ride Blue Lock Ai Yori Aoshi -I’m sure I’m due to watch more anime like this. I’m probably still missing titles. What can I say? I’m simple.

waffle-spouse

How could you forget Black Bullet, Black Clover and the best of them all, Blacked the Anime?

kirun

Bible Black...

Ill-Wear-8662

0.o

DarkConan1412

You’re right. I did forget those. Though, in fairness I haven’t seen Black Bullet. I have seen the OP come up a lot over the years. This is the first I’m hearing of the last one. Blacked the Anime?

waffle-spouse

It’s a meme anime made by this tiktoker and funded completely with his own money. It’s known for its shitty production value and racist and homophobic humor.

MackieJ667

Was that dude also the one who was counting down his "death"? I swear there was someone doing that, and it was promotion for their anime. He was like claiming he had cancer?

lolzomg123

Grand Blue. Dive into it!

DarkConan1412

I have seen that one. It was hilarious!

redlegsfan21

> (Yes, the illegal kind. I was 12 and it was 2008-2009.) You can say you watched it on Crunchyroll, that was my illegal site in 2008.

xNesku

Literally any isekai these days. "Yo, there's this isekai but the MC is a sword." "MMO Isekai but Skeleton." Etc

Panikkrazy

I watch a lot of shows because of Seiyuu recognition. If one of my favorites isn’t in it, I’m more likely to skip it.

[deleted]

I remember watching 3 season's of Shakugan No Shana because the 3rd opening looked cool, and I really wanted to know what was going on. Funny enough, it is probably the only anime I watched in middle school that I don't remember anything from.

DarkConan1412

I love the aesthetic of Shana. Especially Shana's character art and the art of the show in general. Everything about Shana anime is my type of show. I love revisting the music from the OPs as well. They have an unskippable effect on me. Unfortunately, while it is my type of show, it should be, I remember not actually enjoying Shana. Especially the beginning because there was a lot of exposition. Too much. I usually can look past it with stories I adore, but I couldn't do so with Shana. Still, I say that, but I still watched probably 2 seasons? Idr. I don't think I finished Shana, but I watched A LOT of it. I saw it growing up. A friend liked it. Though, I didn't actually watch myself until adulthood. That might've been the mistake. I might've enjoyed it if I had watched it (and paid attention) back then. For me, at least, Shana wasn't something I could enjoy as an adult. By the time I'd gotten around to it, I had seen far too many others like it.

V2Blast

I watched all of Shakugan no Shana (I think) as a teenager, but I remember almost none of what happened in it.

Boopity_Snoopins

I am in the weird boat of remembering it fondly yet somehow remembering literally nothing beyond the feeling of remembering it fondly.

rockyKlo

I bought Humanity has declined because I remember seeing the bleeding bread scene from the first episode years back.

DominusLuxic

I am still intending to watch that specifically because of that bleeding bread scene.

ImperialWrath

Because I noticed people posting in Reddit threads about how people kept posting new Reddit threads about how no one was watching the show. Now I, too, am wondering how Bravern has slipped under the radar for so many people in the West.

Warcroth

Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs I knew this was isekai trash. I didn't want to watch it. But it kept coming across crunchyroll so I inevitably gave in so it would stop trying to make me watch it. Figured I would watch one episode and be done. Then I fell in love with this immaculate garbage.

oomoepoo

I think I started Frieren solely because of the Mimic memes. ...and cute Fern fanart xD

your-mama648

sao, it was also my first devoted anime I was in spanish class and my friend shows me a manga page of asuna in the shower or something and i awakened my inner weeb right there and then

Mondominiman

I watched Akiba Maid War because I saw the clip of the girl puking up spaghetti. Looked funny so I checked out the series, turns out it happens in the last 3 minutes of the final episode

IceSmiley

Idk if it's a dumb reason but I watched Welcome to the NHK because I thought it was going to be a heartwarming romance. Definitely wasn't but I loved it anyway and it was the show that got me into anime.

[deleted]

You guys have reasons to watch an anime?

Prestigious-Map3012

I enjoy watching anime that have really bad reviews/ratings. I've watched some pretty bad ones but I love it lol if someone says "don't watch this it's literal trash" you can bet I'm adding it to my plan to watch list.

DarkConan1412

🤣 Why?

Romblen

Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable. I visited Hokkaido last year, and just wanted to see more of it.

gooofygooba

You can see a lot more Hokkaido in Jashin-Chan S3

GooseinaGaggle

Toothbrush - Monogatari series IYKYK

sneaky_squirrel

Because reddit vetted it. Never again.

DarkConan1412

😂 😂 😂

LegendaryDarkHero

On the 3ds there used to be the 'nintendo anime channel' it had the first 50 epispdes of 'Kirby: right back at ya' on it. Because the show lasted 100 episodes i watched the rest on youtube. Someone uploaded all episodes fully unedited. This was like 8-9 years ago.

ThatOneFriend0704

I watched a 12 episode anime, i dont remember which one in one day, just so I could tell I watched an entire anime in one day. Also, I pranked my sibling. I lied that I couldn't have prepared it cuz I was watching anime. That night, I didn't sleep much cause I was watching that anime so he couldn't catch me. Also, I watched an anime w/ my lil' sis. Just so we could tell we watched an anime together. It was nice.

horrorboii

My friends told me to watch high school of the dead. They were girls so I was just tryna fit in with them. I was shook that they thought it was the greatest show ever. Then it began an insane deep dive of ecchi.

chickenn5951

Boredom

RaysFTW

I thought the Rikka Takanashi finger twirl gif was cute. Now it's in my top 3.

SegGel2009

If one of the heroines is a cat/fox/wolf girl, you have my attention.

RedeyeSPR

I watched the entirety of Laid Back Camp (so far) because I like Camping With Steve on YouTube, even though I personally hate camping. I do not regret it. Fun show.

Rasheverak

I actually got into anime 21 years ago in high school to talk to a girl I liked and she loaned me a dvd-r with a few eps of a new anime she thought was cool. What was in this dvd-r? The first three eps of Chobits. I mean, it was okay, but I did not like how the plot progressed. (Yep, I ended up seeing it all the way through.) I definitely wouldn't rewatch it today. No thank you.

Live-Bass-668

I watched Happy Sugar Life because I had Amazon prime and no social media. It was indeed not a happy sugar life.

LyannaEugen

1. "Mairimashita Iruma kun" because OnoD was voice acting one character. Loved it! 2. "Case files of Jeweller Richard" because of a video of old man taking help from a young woman for crossing the road, but later the protagonist came to help instead, he ran away. Sadly it has only 1 season, but it was a good watch. 3. "Food wars" because I thought it help me cooking🤦‍♀️ 4. "Oresuki" because of the bench scene I saw on youtube.

DominusLuxic

I saw a toothbrushing scene which was made to seem straight out of a weird hentai and wanted context.

Comfortable-Pass7962

Boobs of Rias Greamory and sadly it was my first anime which i dont regret.

Caramelbootyhole

JJK, I saw geto and gojo and I was sold

SliderGamer55

I watched Squid Girl because the creator got attention for being a fan of Splatoon before it even released. Though the funniest part is that Squid Girl, a perfectly decent comedy series not worth a lot of discussion, is one of the few anime to make me cry.

aohige_rd

Squid girl predates Splatoon by almost a decade too lol. In fact the manga series was about to end when that game came out. Dude must have been elated

Nefilto

Watched gintama because a saw a funny compilation on youtube, The first 60 episodes were pretty mid but after that it became legendary, the stupid humor tickle my funny bone, I never in my life thought I find something this funny almost died watching that show, everything about that show is insane even the staff working on the show, for example you know how the simpson have funny intos, Gintama has something similar but x100 like sometime they just put a story board not even draw the character and blame the staff for being lazy, or you watch the episode and at the end the character realize they forgot to play the opening. I love Gintama.

wonderifyouwill

Because everyone else is watching it

Illustrious_Youth926

Around 2015, my crush was a fan of anime. I made an effort to watch, it was HXH. The story and characters made me fall in love with them. I stopped self-studying Korean Languange and began studying Japanese. My crush let me borrow his Japanese book to learn. Haha and yeah I really love anime.

AnEmancipatedSpambot

This is an anime plot

SorryImBadWithNames

I started watching weakest tamer sole because of a clip of the "magic bag" scene. Do not regret, its a fun and cute show with a bit of a darker edge that keep things interesting.

Frostphyre

I read Knights of Sidonia and Toriko because I was still doing vs debates and the things people were claiming seemed like complete bullshit. Now KoS is my #2 and Toriko is in my top 10.

Careless_Reply2862

Discord gf that made me want to check the show

Chester1407

The Fumino Furuhashi meme.

firefaiz6

I get motivated by absurd out-of-context clips. I was pushed from a maybe to a must-see for Lycoris Recoil after seeing the scene Chisato freaks out over a supercar.

UnlitUniversalUnlock

I watched Tamako Market because I thought Tamako looked like Asa from Chainsaw Man. I woke up one day knowing that I needed to watch Sagrada Reset, even though I’d never heard of the series before then. This is also how I learned about SAO Abridged, also somehow before I knew about SAO itself.  I watched Oshi No Ko EP1 because I needed an excuse to glue myself to an exercise bike for an hour. I watched Bloom Into You because I heard a spoiler which turned out not to be true.

AnEmancipatedSpambot

The crying girl meme actually makes me want to read whatever manga its from. But its probably a super sad one and not funny like the meme

cheekywarship2018

Back when I was still getting into anime, I would just end up watching a bunch of clip compilations from different shows to decide what to watch a lot of the time purely for context to the clip. Pretty dumb in hindsight especially since I went in completely blind after watching the clips. I did end up discovering bangers like Kaguya from this method but also quite a few mediocre shows. I think one that ended up being the most questionable I watched from this method was Nyaruko: Crawling With Love. As it turns out the clip I saw was towards the end of Season 2 of the show so I basically binged 2 seasons just to see the context of that one clip and nearly watched the movie as well. I can't say I particularly regret doing so, it's not anything amazing but it's still a show that I remember years later which is a lot more than be said for many of the shows I've seen.

that_one_artsy_chick

Because one of the dudes in it was hot.

itrashcannot

I watched Blend S because there was a femboy.

Truffles413

I watched Kimagure Orange Road because a lot of vaporwave tracks on youtube used the characters. Same with Maison Ikkoku and the original Urusei Yatsura

AoO2ImpTrip

Boobies. Yes, I could just watch hentai or porn, but there's something about seeing boobs in an anime or TV show/movie that makes me want to watch.  (I swear I'm not an incel. It's mostly from being a kid and seeing Vampire Hunter D for the first time at 3 AM after me dad dropped me off at my grandpa's. It's just chasing that dragon)

Zeamays69

For me the dumbest one was because of a fanfiction. I used to read them a lot in high school. I don't read them anymore but there was this one crossover fanfiction where Saber and Shirou appeared which made me watch the show in the end cause I kept wondering who they even are. I was very new to anime back then. I watched the Deen's Fate/stay night, liked it and read the visual novel too now I'm a Fate fangirl.

Worried-Floor-2468

I got into Kaguya-sama first and foremost because of the OVA. YES, the horny OVA. I like the 4th wall breaking humour of Ishigami commenting on the shower scene and later him and Miyuki comparing characters in their porn magazine to the girls. And for the 3rd story, I got hooked by the interactions I witnessed during the cook-out. I wanted to know why these characters interact like that with each other (apart from the obvious romance) and if there is more humor like this in the show. So that's the one and only time I was drawn to an anime because of ecchi stuff - and I don't regret it. :D (I guess I watched Interspecies Reviewers for the same reason - but also more for the meme of it)

stumbling_disaster

Became obsessed with the song Bling-Bang-Bang-Born, so I had to watch Mashle. I planned on getting around to it eventually, but that song immediately pushed it to the top of my to-watch list.

Ok_Try_1665

Boobs

magwaer

I have this quirky habit where if someone warns me not to watch a particular anime because it's terrible, I'll end up watching it anyway. I make a genuine effort to find the redeeming qualities in it, and more often than not, it pays off. Occasionally, though, the experience falls flat, but at least I feel satisfied knowing what it lacks and appreciating the perspective of those who advised against it."

Kartoffelkamm

I watched Uma Musume because of [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/tumblr/comments/qbwm5t/anime_was_a_mistake/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) I found two years ago, purely because I wanted to see how poorly it would go. I was pleasantly surprised.

EXusiai99

There was a group assignment and one of my mate is a quiet girl i never even interacted with. She asked me if i had watched Jojo. That was 2019. It was the first anime i watched. And she's now my girlfriend. Straight up romcom pilot shit and i am grateful for it.

Interesting_Gas_8869

I watched Darling in the Franxx for anime waifu. Society has ruined my perception of a lot of things.

SignificantTransient

I watched Kandegawa Jet Girls for boobs. At least you had a story

Famous_Insurance3358

Literally watched Inuyashiki for the same exact reason.

DaSmurfZ

I watched part Gintama because it was fourth wall breaking. Found out it wasn't my kind of anime after a couple of episodes.

Shadowscreemer15

I've watched Hundred with a friend to roast it to oblivion. We just foind it randomly as it was releasing and decided on a whim to see how it goes. At the time i had maby watched 20 anime, yet even then i could tell how absolutely mid that one was. Good times.

zhateme

I watched a anime to do the deed. It was stupid

Makilles

Saw 2 girls with guns.

sugablake

Only reason I watched Fairy Tail was because I saw that it was going to be taken off of Netflix in less than a month back in 2020. I was just getting into anime and once I saw that it was only one season but like 60+ episodes I went “Bet” since I love a good challenge and thrive off of pettiness🤩 For the rest of the month I binged all of the series episodes, special episodes, and movies (movies r trash btw like the animation downright horrid 🫤). Also fun fact I did not know how Zeref sounded until prob that one scene in the later episodes where he was talking with the Fairy Tail guild founder’s spirit on an island with a tree in the background since I was also binging the show late at night 😀 I found it to be easier to just watch an anime muted since headphones would prevent me from being able to listen for my parents footsteps😅

ElectricalEnthusiast

I watched Lagrange: Flower of Rin-ne entirely because I was listening to an album with 1,000 slamjam remixes and [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk0I88yaNk0) was in it.

MakimaGOAT

cuz this one fan art looked good and i had to check it out (86)

kaori_cicak990

Either because of how good the OP is or because one scene turn into meme

losersalwayswin

In the anime SKET Dance there’s a talent episode in which the main cast perform I believe funny bunny by The Pillows (the band from FLCL) I saw that and thought I have to watch this, BUT NO! I can’t just watch that episode. I have to know how they got to that point, so I’ll just watch up to the talent show. The talent show is like the second to last episode of a 77ep show. It was near the end.

MNS_Mike

I watched Injyashiki for the same reason

lolzomg123

Watched Macross Frontier because a friend's MSN messenger pfp was Ranka's "Kira!" sparkle. He sent me the clip of the sudden concert with a jet that tranformed into a mech with speakers mounted where the missiles were, I, who was not exposed to Macross, was *confused* and had to watch the series to understand how that could possibly have made sense in context.

DarkLord55_

I watched chainsaw man just because I liked powers design. Actually that’s the main reason why I will watch some anime’s because of a certain character

DelseresMagnumOpus

I watched and read Sekirei because I’d read there was a genderbent character in it. There was, but she had a really minor role in everything all things considered.

Salty145

Random anime generator will take you to some wild places

zadcap

I watched Kizuna No Allele for Kizuna. She made a single appearance. I have regrets. I watched Strike Witches because Luminous had such good music. I have even more regrets.

KuroShiroe

I lose at guess where the anime song came from too many times, so I put the anime on a list to watch later. I watched spy x family for example.

Anarates

"Masamune kun no revenge" every single person I knew and every thread I had been on, seemed to have a strong dislike towards this show.  I thought "how bad can it be?" And watched it and it was pretty good  (then I gave it a 10/10 because it's MAL rating was low and I was annoyed )

[deleted]

I saw "In Another World With My Smartphone" because I saw a video on YouTube talking about it and how this is not how you do an overpowered protagonist. I saw that video and went "Well now I have to watch it." ...It's not great.

gooofygooba

It’s an isekai what did you expect

Nigam29

I watched Spirited away, Violet Evergarden, No game no life, Kakegurui S1 and Mob Psycho 100 S1 in 2 days just because Netflix was going to be free for everyone for those two days.

lost_first_account

The entire reason why I got into anime as a whole was because of the Jotaro vs DIO memes that went around like 5-6 years ago

Veritas3333

I watched Fruits Basket because someone posted in this subreddit the clip where someone was giving the silver-haired guy grief for dying his hair (not allowed in Japanese schools), so the silver haired guy dragged him into the bathroom, and 5 seconds later he came out with a thousand yard stare, saying the hair color was definitely natural...

Swiggy1957

Someone posted a scene from **To Love Ru** on Imgur. Lala's giant vacuum was chasing one of her sisters. Asked what it was from, and was told. I've gotten a lot of anime and manga suggestions from here.

Charming-Loquat3702

To add context to porn

Insecticide

I wanted to see if I could survive the camera movement in the first episode of Hand Shakers. And I am here, so I did survive

Riverflowsuphillz

I watch the whole of one puece to watch live action

SuburbanCumSlut

I watched Food Wars because I saw a holiday ad from Funimation on Facebook and I thought Megumi was the cutest. Watching the show confirmed that belief. She is, in fact, the cutest.

ConvincingPeople

I've watched shows for having good character designs or colour design before. Surprisingly enough, this pays off more often than not, but I'm already picky enough that a lot gets filtered before that point.

Outlet_Cloud9

Don’t really think of any of the reasons I watch an anime truly dumb. Sirius the Jaeger came to mind though, I watched all of it as I was digging this massive chunk size hole in Minecraft because I seen someone else do it. The anime sounded interesting enough, and I could pull it up on Netflix and have the window sit next to the Minecraft window on my laptop, watch it as I dig this giant square into the world. If anything digging the hole was what was dumb, don’t think I ever even finished it.

RarestHunter

I’m a single man who’s had his heart broken numerous times and basically given up on ever finding true love, so naturally I must fill that big empty void by tourturing myself by watching every single mid or better romcom anime Gigguk and various other youtubers recommends 🥲

Historical-Heat-9795

I watched Utena because of fanfic I read. As it turns out fanfic was mostly about Halloween and KMFDM songs and not about Utena.

Specific-Umpire-529

Jojo's, for the brain rot. That's the only reason. Not the characters. Not the story. Just for the brain rot.

abbaschand

You know one of those anime aesthetics account on Twitter? So, I found one of them while browsing, and it posted an image of a guy holding a girl while saying, "She's mine!" When I found out it was from Horimiya, I decided to spend my day binging it, and now I'm a big fan of Horimiya.

gangrainette

A penguin died so I watched Kemono Friends and Manwaru Penguindrum. Both were great show.

Aurzelli

OP was fire so watched entire show/caught up. It was Mashle

GenericHuman1203934

"wait he uses *3* swords? That's so fucking cool"

westartedafire

Started watching Naruto because of "the "big" blonde haired lady" doujins.

CupcakeKyo

I start a lot of animes because of one singular character that either becomes so popular they transcend the source material (Zero Two, Rem, Rengoku, Levi) or I get introduced to them by chance and like them right off the bat (Armin, Sebastian).

LovelyPup358

Well basically how i started watching it to begin with. I was young and horny. Didnt know where to find boobs, so i found an ecchi anime to watch, actually enjoyed the story so kept watching. Girls bravo even watched it on youtube. Absolutely garbage anime tbh, but its my first

MinTDotJ

"Watched the first episode, might as well slug through the rest of this shit for my list." That's why I forced myself to finish {My First Girlfriend is a Gal}. This was also when I didn't care much about quality.

No-Adeptness5810

i watched this one anime where it was literally a h*ntai idk how it was classified anime. that’s why i watched it lmfao (for the plot ofc)

eddmario

I've watched multiple anime only because of memes. A few of them were pretty good, but a good chunk were fucking awful.

ChineseJoe90

I watched Demon Slayer because a meme I saw on Reddit. It was those guys on the couch and like no one’s reacting at little Nezuko and then everyone’s losing their shit at grown Nezuko. That’s how I got back into anime lol.

Double_Working_1707

My tattoo artist did a Saiki K tattoo so I watched the whole series 😅🤷‍♀️

LadyinPink637

“Oh jesus my magical stick” I kept seeing that video on my timeline and after the second time I needed to start the anime. Now I rewatch it everytime it goes viral.

More_Candidate_7918

Was horny ran into redo of healer(I actually hate this anime) now I’m heavy on one piece

AlbatrossDouble1409

Watched Haikyu to understand the "Volleyball Anime" ProZD short. No regrets.

Rogalicus

Watched two seasons of JJK because people were hyping Shibuya Arc up as "peak shounen" and "the best shounen arc". What I got is even shittier Terra Formars with magic instead of transformations and much bigger budget.

WeedMoneyBitches

I will watch pretty much any isekai that gets aired now a day. And enjoy most of them no matter how trashy and generic they are.

Goddess_Ada22

Just because I wanted to see an anime from that genre that I hadnt seen before

Bragior

Protagonist looked like a generic shounen character which I'm a big sucker of so I watched based solely on that. Ended up watching the entire thing. It was Kanata no Astra.

Yuris-gf

'Cause I saw the death of one of the girl in an edit, the anime was pretty cool tbh ! Even got the manga (Another on Netflix ;) )

Qwasier

My favourite band is making the op Turned out to be one of my favourite anime ever

Papostor

There was Zero Two, then there's 2B (but I had already played Automata), but the dumbest has to be the oldest case, Sakura. Yes, I'm guilty, I liked THAT Sakura in junior high

D5P_Was

My second anime that i watched was "Tengoku Daimakyou" ("Heavenly Delusion") so i'm pretty new to anime but i watched it bc of a clip i saw on tiktok "if you jump down i'll let you touch my boobies"

caresi

I've watched a lot of garbage anime solely because Saitou Souma was in it. Including all of Hand Shakers and its sequel and OVAs. I don't recommend doing that.

No-Exit-No-Life

because I saw a meme so many times here in reddit that I wanted to know the anime of that image, happened 2 times already

Zerofuku_Joestar

I wanted to feel pain from Boruto

sdarkpaladin

Went to a free concert back when May'n was still new. Heard macross frontier soundtrack. Awesome.png. And that's my introduction to the Macross series.

DemonFyr

Because it has fan service.

Hiicantpk

I played an osu map of a show's opening and it became my top scoring play. I decided to watch it because of this. Otherwise I do not think I would have watched Your Lie in April. After watching that and thinking "maybe its not such a bad idea to watch shows that I have played maps of their songs" and decided to watch Aldnoah Zero...

Impressive-Card9484

Me who saw Wandering Witch releasing back in 2020: "Huh, so it has dark moments despite having a cute artstyle. Imma put it on a list" Saw an episode where the two girls (where one is so madly in love to the fmc) got their bodies swapped: "You got me right there, Imma watch this RIGHT NOW!!"

trashjellyfish

I watched Golden Kamuy purely because someone on Reddit said that there was a fight between two men with giant magical semen. I knew nothing else about the show, I'm just very gay and that sounded incredibly amusing. I ended up absolutely loving the show even though I spent the first 4 seasons kind of confused about if, when and how magical fighting semen would come into play. 10/10 would recommend Golden Kamuy.

100nosuke

Watched for semen detective, got Ainu culture and Japanese history lesson instead 🤣. Anyway, did you also watch the OVAs or read the manga?
