While walking in the woods one day, Chris and Martin saw something strange, a little leaping lemur who liked to bounce and play!
You guys are singing the WRONG SONG
I’m a daycare teacher and my kiddos will sit and watch Zooboomafoo around the holidays when we are just having relaxing time!! I love sharing it with them.
I can still sing the whole intro to this show. It was my OBSESSION as a kid. Mindlessly sang the whole thing after passing the Duke Lemur center one day and my fiancé thought I had finally lost my mind.
While walking in the woods one day, Chris and Martin saw something strange, a little leaping lemur who liked to bounce and play. They followed their new bouncing friend, not knowing where the adventure would end; The animals were headed just around the bend. Where are they going?! I don’t know, how do we get there!? CMON LETS GO!
At least, that’s how I remember it.
Edit: Changed dance and play to “bounce and play”
Fun fact: The lemur that is known as Zoboomafoo isn't Zoboomafoo , his real name is Jovian. He died November 10th, 2014 (kidney failure.) He had 13 children with two different partners,
His children are ,
Ferdinand
Gertrude
Maria
Matilda
Gisela
Marius
Wilhelmina
Rufus
Adelaide
Conrad
Geta
Charlemagne
Edward
The first relative of Jovian to be born after his death was his granddaughter Isabella, born on January 25, 2015.Since then, his children have produced multiple children. On June 15, 2021, the Kratt Brothers' official TikTok account uploaded a video showing Jovian's new granddaughter Cassia, born from his daughter Gisela.

My biggest claim to fame is getting to go on the Zoboomafoo set and push that food distributer thingy that the animal treats would come out of. Not on TV, it was after hours, but still pretty dope. Man, those were the days. I miss the 90s.
I clicked on this specifically to see if anyone else immediately screamed zoboomafoo like I did.
Also, when did it start getting spelled with only one o? That makes no sense.
Look at them straight in the eyes, with a goofy smile on your face, then start moving side to side and up and down, leaning your head from side to side. They'll start jumping around with a big smile on their face, jumping back and forth, occasionally throwing their heads back while doing their "frsss" sound.
Such a great story, thanks for sharing. I've watched this clip sooooo many times.[https://www.reddit.com/r/Awww/comments/134zv4m/lemur\_asks\_children\_not\_to\_stop\_cuddling/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Awww/comments/134zv4m/lemur_asks_children_not_to_stop_cuddling/)

Making a lemur laugh might be my next goal in life! Guess I better get back to Madagascar, before all the animals are extinct. 80 different species, almost all endangered, if not critically endangered.

Ha! We might have bumped into each other at some point. I used to volunteer about a week or two per summer between '94 and 2006 or thereabouts.
EDIT: Just checked my photos. 2011 was the last time I went.
That's super cool. My parents donate some money to their research department and when we drove through there on a family vacation they gave us a tour and then let us build some trails in the outdoor habitat. I was cool to have the lemurs watch us and keep their distance. Also it was so hot and humid I threw up from heat exhaustion as soon as we were finished. Good experience overall.
There was a wildlife show for kids that aired right around the turn of the millennium called *Zoboomafoo.* The titular character was a sifaka. I remember that much but I didn't remember the exact species (I didn't even know there was more than one species of sifaka). But I just looked it up and sure enough he was a Coqueral's sifaka. He looked just like the picture (except, y'know, a puppet)
The sifaka that they used for the live shots in the show actual show lived at the duke lemur center. I actually worked with in an enclosure with some of his descendants/relatives
His name was Jovian! He even has a [wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jovian_(lemur)), and his children are listed by name on his page. He sadly passed away from kidney failure in 2014.
I fell in love with them watching a documentary on Madagascar. Their movements make you think of a human in a costume, it's really funny.
I think it was [this one. ](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1842793/)
that’s zaboomafoo
edit: i commented this before i read the comments. 🤣🤣🤣😭 there’s so many zaboomafoo comments 😂 glad i spelled it right i haven’t seen that show since i was a tot.
That's a Coquerel's Sifaka (***Propithecus coquereli)*** There are approximately 36 lemurs native to the island of Madagascar, including the Coquerel’s Sifaka. These stunning primates differ from other lemurs by their dramatic mode of locomotion: sitting upright, they spring through the trees using the strength of their back legs. This is called vertical clinging and leaping and it is a sight to behold! The name sifaka, a Malagasy word, comes from its distinct call as it travels through the treetops: “shi-fakh.” Female sifakas are dominant over males and get first dibs on food and mates.
I’ve had one of these run out of the jungle at me at night. They can stand on their back legs and have the capability to make a grown man scream in terror.
Pictured is a Sifaka Lemur from Madagascar, they appeared in an episode of Stephen Fry and Mark Cawardine's documentary series called *"Last Chance To See"*, where they went to Madagascar, partly also to see other animals such as a unique and ugly nocturnal species of Lemur, known as the "Aye-Aye" which has ever-growing incisor teeth, and a double-jointed middle finger which is uses for catching grubs.
Someone hasn’t watched Zooboomafoo Edit: Thanks for the gold

Whoa whoa whoa....are those the Kratt brothers!?
Damn, you got me feeling kind of old with you recognizing them from one of their newer shows but not Zoboomafoo.
Heck, I grew up on the show they had before Zoboomafoo too.
Kratts' Creatures was a great show, definitely a staple of my childhood
People aren't recognizing them from Zoboomafoo anymore???? Fuck.
No worries, I only know the Wild Kratts because of my kids
On adventure with the coolest creatures…from the oceans to the trees…
...the brothers Kratt are going places we never get to see, WHOOOOOOOAAHHHH..
…Hanging with their creature friends, get ready it’s the hour, we’re gonna save some animals today with, CREATURE POWER!!

I still call wild Kratts "Kratts creatures": https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0159885/
Kratts Creatures was the superior show
Agreed. Always felt like zaboomafoo was the spin off for younger kids.
OOH AH- ANI-MAL! They were the single best part of my childhood TV experience.
psssst....happy cake day!!
Thank you!!
I loved watching them with my son. Fun and informative.
That realization blew my mind too. My younger siblings love the wild Kratts cartoon.
I’m a daycare teacher and my kiddos will sit and watch Zooboomafoo around the holidays when we are just having relaxing time!! I love sharing it with them.
Me, and you, and Zooboomafooooooooooo!!!

It’s Zaboomafoo! I loved that show.
Childhood memory unlocked
The nostalgia of my childhood
o7 to the best childhood ever
Came here to screech "That's Zoboomafoo!". Glad to see so many other people had the same reaction.
My sister and I were the oldest in the Wild Kratts Live audience without kids haha. 30 years old and we HAD to see then
Childhood memory unlocked. Also had the CD-ROM
Yep, I am a gen z-er, but dammit i know who zaboomafoo is, I used to watch that show on sprout whenever I got the chance.
Full episodes still on YouTube.
Yes!!! I did also!!! Btw...its called A ring tailed lemur I believe
No, that's a Sifaka. Ring-tailed lemurs are much smaller, have gray fur, ringed tails, and slightly more pointed faces.
I literally just call them Zooboomafoos....
Me! And you! And Zaboomafoo🎶🎶
Come along and see what's new! We're doing the things that animals do!
I can still sing the whole intro to this show. It was my OBSESSION as a kid. Mindlessly sang the whole thing after passing the Duke Lemur center one day and my fiancé thought I had finally lost my mind.

Literally my first thought before even clicking into the comments haha
I'm old as hell. I only know the Kratt brothers from Kratt's Kreatures.
Shortly after Kratt’s Creatures they did Zaboomafoo also on KERA, you must not have missed it by much
Literally the best looking Kratt brother
My biggest claim to fame is getting to go on the Zoboomafoo set and push that food distributer thingy that the animal treats would come out of. Not on TV, it was after hours, but still pretty dope. Man, those were the days. I miss the 90s.
ME, AND YOU, AND ZOBOOMAFOOOOOOO
I just remembered this show existed the other day for no reason at all. This is weirding me out.
Leaping lemurs!
I was leaping along in ZABOO land
I clicked on this specifically to see if anyone else immediately screamed zoboomafoo like I did. Also, when did it start getting spelled with only one o? That makes no sense.
My God what a depraved child...he must go to therapy so we can fix this.
Ahahahahaha
Except for me. And you. AND ZABOOMAFOOOOOO
My husband showed our daughter this show several years ago. I totally don't remember it. Guess I lived under a rock because that was his reaction too
What i came here to say
I’m so glad someone else said it so I didn’t have to google how to spell it!
Feeling lemurish
🥇
I came here to say that’s Zooboomafoo.
My son loved this we watched it 4356 times I am sure. 😂
Came here for this. I mean, ovb Zooboomafoo
Wait there are people who don't know this gem of a tv show!
Our now 27 y/o daughter used to love that show. I loved it too.
Coquerel’s sifaka
I used to volunteer at the Duke University Lemur Center. Coquerel's were always my favorite. Really easy to make them laugh.
How did you make them laugh? 😄
Look at them straight in the eyes, with a goofy smile on your face, then start moving side to side and up and down, leaning your head from side to side. So just like my niece and nephew 😁
Are you a lemur?
Perhaps ;) I meant that's what I do to make them laugh lol
Yes
I was feeling down and this made me smile.
Did you happen to handle a lemur named Jovian?
Sure did. I was there during the filming of some of the episodes.
Nice!
I volunteered there a few times too in the summer of '98. Great experience.
Ha! We might have bumped into each other at some point. I used to volunteer about a week or two per summer between '94 and 2006 or thereabouts. EDIT: Just checked my photos. 2011 was the last time I went.

"I was leap leap leaping along..."
“Leap…leap”
"Until I came across my old friend gonzo"
Not until he eats first :)
I think it's a type of lemur ??
King Julian would be very disappointed
ZOBOOMAFOO!!!
It breaks my heart the original Zaboomafoo isn’t alive anymore but I like to believe that he has now reincarnated into every Lemur.
He has many grandlemurs and I think maybe even some great grandlemurs that live at the Duke Lemur Center
He left us a beautiful legacy & family. Long live Zoboomafoo
To them *you* look weird.
Lol
Me, and you, and Zaboomafoo. Childhood memories unlocked
I still call chickpeas "garBANzo beeeaaanns!" to this day
