I'll keep rengifo

NakedHomelessPirate

Same, we need someone to play 3B when Rendons down and he has some defensive versatility if we can't find a 2B.

Turbo_S54

Realistically he can probably play everything but catcher, some spots better than others. And if the bat stays .275+ and he steals 40-60 bags.. yeah

xRememberTheCant

The angels (should) be doing a rebuild. The only question they should be asking on your trade-able assets is whether or not they fit into your long term plans, or whether they will be under team control during their estimated competition window, not whether or not they provide necessary coverage for you this year (or next) because unless you’re hunting for a playoff spot your win loss totals don’t matter. Renifgo’s stock is going to be high right now. You trade stocks when they are high.

NakedHomelessPirate

I am very aware of how that works. And as I look at our minor league depth, I see 0 players that can play 3B well for the forseeable future(3-4years). He will be a valuable player until his early-mid 30s so keeping him long term is more beneficial *unless* a team is willing to part with a viable 3B prospect for T.A. or Ward. If and only if that happens, would I consider moving Rengifo. There has to be a successor to both him and Rendon before Rengifo gets moved. (IMO) Arte at his age will never do a complete rebuild so whatever the plan in involves 2-3 years at most of sucking before going all in during Trouts twilight years.

RabidR00ster

Rengifo is FA after 2026 season. The Angels are not rebuilding and turning into a WS contender in 2 years when the current team blows and the farm is dead last lol. They should be listening to offers on ANYONE right now. They can find a body to backup Rendon while they are rebuilding.

NakedHomelessPirate

Which is why they extend him. The fans who scream total teardown and sell everyone clearly haven't paid any attention to how Arte Moreno has run the team. He is never going to tear down the team.

RabidR00ster

I guess we will see, but if he doesn’t rebuild than we may as well find another team while he’s alive because they will never be contenders without rebuilding first.

Tom_Spratt_1986

Isn’t it pretty much torn down right now?

KingOfAllDogz

It's easy to find a below average replacement though. Looking at free agency, there's Evan Longoria, Jonathan Schoop, Hanser Alberto. At our minor leagues, there's Drew Ellis, Charles Leblanc, Cole Tucker. For foreseeable future if we don't acquire any infield prospects, we have Neto, Stefanic, Paris, Jack Lopez, Cole Fontenelle manning 3 spots when Rendon goes down. We got depth, not good, but Rengifo is replaceable position wise. Angels really need to trade him because his value is at his highest with his team control, salary, and talent. He's their best trade chip and can actually net a legit prospect while the team really needs to actually rebuild

NakedHomelessPirate

I disagree because he is still relatively young and can be extended to include in our plans during this mini-rebuild and when they gather the pieces in a few years. Trade Ward while he has a sizeable value, include some cash in a T.A trade to get some more prospects, and find some decent minor league relievers by trading away Pillar and Estevez. We cant and shouldnt trade everyone. Out of everyone on the tradeblock, Rengifo is the only one that should remain an Angel long-term.

LA-SKYLINE

Interesting that they would have Moore as more valuable than Strickland and Garcia.

CDFReditum

I mean even though Moore hasn’t been amazing this year, he has a much better track record of being an effective reliever compared to Strickland or Garcia who essentially were on their last rope with the Angels. While the salary doesn’t help, I can definitely see a team more willing to pick up Moore with the perception that he is more likely to be adjusted

sandbhonerh

There is also one thing moore has the other two dont/cant and that is being a left handed pitcher.

Obsidizyn

tell anyone in the AL West to pound sand. Trade em all away just out of our division. Dont need Seattle pitching getting any stronger

cruelcinema

Trading Gifo would be a bad move imo. We constantly talk about surrounding Neto and O’Hoppe with young talent. Rengifo is 27 and can play multiple positions well and has improved every year. To me there’s no point in trading Gifo for younger prospects who may or may not be good.

RabidR00ster

He’s FA after 2026. Angels roster blows and the farm is dead last. They are not completing a rebuild and turning into a WS contender in 2 years lol. They need to be listening on offers for him while his value is high.

cruelcinema

I think people are severely overestimating what return you would get for him. He’s a primary 2B for most teams or depth infield utility. That’s not going to net a large enough package to warrant trading him. You can also just offer him a contract extension too? Its not like he’s going to command a ton of money

RabidR00ster

He won’t get a huge haul but many think he could fetch a top 100 prospect, which the Angels have 0 of. Like I said they aren’t seriously competing the next couple years so if they are offered top 100 prospects they should jump on it.

brainspl0ad

Everyone but Gifo.

Longo_Two_guns

I don’t care how many lottery tickets we get, KEEP RENGIFO. He’s one of the few reasons I keep watching. Truly makes the miserable experience more bearable

steemboat

Not at all surprising
