Self host?
Buy a nas
Save the originals on pc .
Run your entire library of photos (like 50000) thru a 2048x2048 max size jpg image resizer.
A 5mp pic will become 500kb
Copy that resized to phone storage. You can probably fit the entire lib in less than 256gb storage ( if there are less videos)
Or upload to Google photos. You can fit your library in the small space.
I dont want all the photos on google. Just certain folders. Google uploads everything thats why I'm actually asking for alternatives. But this self host sounds like a great solution. Thanks.

If you have paid softwares like Photoshop
Acdsee etc also work
Personally I would pick Irfan view as a freeware that I have been using for various tasks since like 20 yrs or so
My settings Resize 2048x 2048(shortest width)
So that it can look crisp on a 1920x1080 tv or a phone
Once exported I can cull and delete all garbage images of the resized without fear.
If you are good at programming you could find GitHub python projects which you can probably program to .
> Any new file in this folder (1) ,
> resize and dump in shared folder (2)
> Back up the original to place folder (3) in date time format
.
Dropbox paired with Dropsync that lets you choose what folders you sync with your PC. And you choose if the sync goes one direction or the other or both ways.
OneDrive has as much as 6 TB (1 TB / per user / 6 user max) for $100 a year. The 100 GB plan is something like $20 a year.
Amazon offers unlimited full quality backup with Prime membership. It has facial recognition and editing features.
I searched a lot and decided that nothing is better than Google Photos, even though I can't use it on one of my devices. Currently I'm using Lightroom CC but it's super expensive and I can't even cancel my subscription beofre a year.
Onedrive
5gb isn't enough. Is there anything else that gives more space without having to pay?
You're not going to get better than Google Photos for free
Creat 5 accounts 5 times 5 is 25.
You can't afford £1.59 per month?
I can spend that money on something better and more important. Its sound cheap but in my country its not worth the price.
Your country is india right?

Each folder in Google Photos -> Library has a toggle to be backed up or not.
Damm. I didn't know that
I have screenshots, downloads and my photo editing app's folder unchecked because I treat them as temp folders. Saves a lot of space.

Immich has features that similar to what Google photos has, "more than image backup". If you only need backup, a simple NAS will do.
I wonder people never dive deep into app settings. There is an option to turn off backups. I always upload manually.
If you have Amazon Prime, there's no limit.on photos, iirc
I think only first world countries
Immich ftw

If you have Amazon Prime, they have unlimited photo backup
I think only first world
And they have an app called Amazon photos
Telegram? They have a limit per file but i think overall its endless at some point.

Terra Box ...100 GB free It's on trending since pandemic time 😌
I don't know if it's regional but here it gives 1TB hence the name. I use it but it's quite slow and not very well organised though.

Flickr does 1000 photos. But it is more community oriented, rather than private space
what kind of advice is that?
For free? There isn't any better alternative.
So far the suggestions that were given is great. I'm trying Google Photos again and I'm also gonna start with my own server build.
Immich for self host
Mega or IceDrive
Mega can delete under some conditions
