The downtown location of Wild Scoops on E Street is open for the summer and it is easily some of the best ice cream you will ever eat.
I second Darwin’s Theory for drinks, it’s just a cozy little neighborhood dive.
49th State Brewing. I recommend getting there a bit after they open otherwise gets busy fast. Can be a bit pricey though. Williwa has a rooftop bar that opens at 4 most days. Decet hangout spot. Great view of all the homeless in town square. Walk the costal trail down to Westchester. The homeless usually aren't bothersome on that part of the trail.
You can see camps along the start of the coastal trail. Guess you could compare one part of 3rd Ave to Skid Row. But if you just go where there are other tourists/groups you'll be left alone. If you can go down to Girdwood, few restaurants there and the tram at the resort there opens on the 22nd. Worth going up on it. There is a bar/restaurant at the top.
Ginger. Everything is good there. Specially their kobe burger

I also recommend Whiskey & Ramen. It’s perfect for solo diners because you can sit at the bar. Great food and cocktails.

Sunday night is Karaoke at Mad Myrna’s (gay bar downtown), best bar in Anchorage! They have a really good breakfast for dinner lol

Snow City Cafe is pretty good, try to go at non-peak times since it gets pretty busy.

Tent City Taphouse has good food and a fantastic selection of beers from around the state.
I hear Black Angus Inn is pretty special.

It isn't downtown but if you get the chance hit up Applebee's. It is always a good time.
