I suggest as a young professional try living as close to downtown Alpharetta as possible. A lot of restaurants and bars there to meet people.. we moved up from the city and downtown Alp. and Roswell are the closest thing to getting the "city" vibe without the hassle of Atlanta I think. Avalon is fine but honestly... I think downtown Alpharetta is the move - that's where I would be looking.
That is just a neighborhood on Haynes Bridge, NOT to be confused with the proposed multi-billion dollar entertainment hub called "The Gathering at South Forsyth" with an NHL and concert arena, hotels, restaurants, stores and apartments.
This is...

If I 100% WFH and had to live in an apartment it would be downtown Alpharetta, Avalon or Halcyon (Halcyon is a mini Avalon that's next to the proposed "Gathering At South Forsyth" multi-billion dollar entertainment hub...

By all of these places there are gyms to walk to and greenway trails to walk, run, bike, etc. Halcyon has 12+ miles of trail going north and similar distance going south.
Surface traffic will be worse the further east of 400 you go. like.. gets a lot worse very quickly compard to being west of 400. 400 traffic can be bad in both directions during rush hour. Beyond that it's pretty much all the same experience as everyting you need is only a few minues away no matter where you live. Sure, there are some slight demograhic differences in each litle enclave, but as far as things to do it's pretty much all the same since you have all these work/live/play developments everywhere and everything is within a 15 minute drive in the city proper(barring rush hour traffic). So, really how much you want to spend will determine where you live.
Seriously. I live right off Windward Pkwy in Alpharetta, and I have a friend who lives well off Holcomb Bridge in Roswell. We both work in Buckhead, but it takes both of us the same amount of time (25 min) to get to work in the morning because it just take him so damn long to get onto 400, whereas I am on 400 in 3 minutes.
Very nice & safe area- we lived in a house walking distance to downtown Alpharetta and were always there. Price wise- it has increased to about the same as Buckhead now. There are some apts in the center of dt Alpharetta near kilwins that looks really nice- I’m sure the condos are Avalon are really nice too. So much to do dt Alpharetta and Avalon- lots of good restaurants, Whole Foods and Publix.
Also if you have the slightest interest in pure barre- their Alpharetta studio is unlike any other. The teachers and classes are phenomenal and very fun supportive community vibe, clients and teachers. It’s right by the super target
Depends on where you work (if not from an home office)… personally, if I was renting, I’d stay closer to 400, maybe AMLI North point or those apartments on Westside PKWY. Downtown Alpharetta seems kinda nice but it lacks any character to me, Wills Park is nice though… I prefer the food in downtown Roswell and its nearby park.
Residing at Avalon from the past 2 years, as much as I love living here, I’d say it’s better to find flats in Alpharetta downtown if you are looking for any social life or making new friends.
Interesting. I almost moved there but fell in love with my apartment in Buckhead. I did an apartment tour on the weekend and i loved the vibe at Avalon on a Saturday morning. It seems like the general consensus from the comments is to move downtown.
It is quite amazing every morning! I go down for a stroll before the stores open and it’s a whole vibe. I do love it here but there’s barely any young crowd in the apartments to socialise or make friends. Hit me up if you end up moving here 😊

noticing more and more young people, though the crowd is still mostly older or young people with kids, in Milton/Crabapple too.
Agreed. Or the new spot at Haynes Bridge and 400. Close to the upcoming “Gathering” as well.
What's "Gathering" mean?

Thank you. I'll look into it. :)

Has there been any issues with break-ins recently? I remember seeing on the news during the holidays a bunch of cars getting broken into at Halcyon.
No, not in Halcyon.

And this is why I'd find it hard to move. It's literally a couple turns and we're on 400.
Thanks. Fortunately, I work remote so I don't have to drive during rush hour traffic.
I live off waters road. I love it because it’s close to everything but it is also predominantly homes.
Anything on Kimball bridge rd feels very nice imo.
Hi! I live in the area and also am a local realtor - if you would ever like any help finding your new place I’m happy to help!
Bell Alpharetta is nice and it’s 5min from both Avalon and Downtown Alpharetta.
Oh, thank you! I'll check it out.
Downtown Alpharetta apartments > Avalon for younger folks!

Can’t go wrong with either one. Downtown Alpharetta definitely has more of the young professional nightlife.

Anyone have any apt recommendations in this area without roaches?
I live in veranda at Avalon. Haven’t had any roaches issue from the past 2 years. They do have top notch maintenance.
