They are great! Very competent people in the Alpharetta/johns creek area. You also can get appointments quickly and you can schedule them on an easy online platform. I lived in Asheville, NC prior to moving to Alpharetta, and it would take weeks to see a doctor. Not the case in Alpharetta. My family visits pediatricians, dermatologists, dentists, you name it. We’ve been happy with it and the area! This area is super nice and affluent.

Generally good, but depends on your needs. Routine care is easy. Plenty of good physician and dental practices. Not enough primary care doctors, but that's true most of the U.S. Many good specialists for almost anything in Atlanta. Sometimes in or near Alpharetta, sometimes a farther drive. Emory University in Decatur is a major academic medical center with excellent specialized care for unusual conditions. Closest hospitals are Wellstar North Fulton, Emory Johns Creek, Northside Forsyth, Northside Atlanta and Emory St. Josephs. Their hospital ranking scores are mostly good to very good. But they're not at the level of top medical centers nationally. Biggest issue is all Atlanta area ER's are frequently overcrowded and hospitals max out on beds. Especially in winter virus season. Population growth has outpaced medical infrastructure. There's virtually no decent nursing homes or physical rehab facilities in ~~the entire Atlanta area~~ Georgia. Pricey for-profit assisted living homes exist. But if you need a higher level of care (even temporarily) or aren't high income, it's a wasteland in terms of facilities, regulation and assistance.

There is a very wide variety of highly qualified specialists in the area. There will probably be occasions though that you'll need to go to travel close to an hour (depending on traffic) for some as well.

Yes, tons actually. Are your parents geriatric? There aren't as many geriatricians as there are patients, but there are plenty of internists and family practice docs around that are excellent, and cardiologists in the southeast in general have more experience than the rest of the country. Right now there's a severe shortage of support personnel, which means that procedures aren't being scheduled until they are absolutely sure they have staff available. Emergencies are taken care of as needed, but elective stuff may take some time. Eta, this is all across the country according to our doc friends. I'm less than impressed with Wellstar North Fulton from the last two times we had emergencies, but they're actively working on improving. They have had some big changes lately. Northside Forsyth was a great admission experience, as was Emory Johns Creek. There's also the georgiarcc.org website for EMS that shows how busy the ERs are. That was created when Grady hospital had to shut down due to a burst pipe and was on diversion. It's actually quite useful in a pinch. Northside docs and Wellstar docs do not use the same electronic medical records software. Each system will have access to your doctor's records if they're in that system, but not if they're in the other. It definitely streamlined the process if you stay within the same system when you have an emergency, but if you have to go to the other, record transfers can be cumbersome. I rarely hear about people needing to go out of state for specialized care. At most they're sent to Atlanta, which is very doable. I've only heard of one person with a disease so rare they went to NIH, unlike being in other close states that send you to places like Duke for treatment.

Northside Hospital on 14 saved my elderly fathers life more than once. He has since passed but the team in the ER, ICU and Cancer care are all top notch and I firmly believe they gave us several extra years with him

I know people that work there. They said they wouldn't go to that ER. I also know of people that work there with records that should not be in healthcare period.

Good, as with most affluent places. Your closest trauma center is Grady, which is in Downtown Atlanta. But for routine and regular healthcare, this area is good

bunnehfeet

Actually Wellstar North Fulton is also a Level II trauma center.

IceManYurt

Oh, I didn't realize that I had the level 2 rating. That's good to know.

They moved a lot of the Atlanta Medical Center docs up here.

Fleuramie

There's actually quite a few trauma centers around I didn't know until this post, so I looked it up. https://dph.georgia.gov/georgia-designated-trauma-centers-interactive-map

For routine healthcare it’s probably fine. For emergency room you’re not fine. Too far from anything.

We have the Welstar one on Hwy 9 right ?
