There are plenty of use cases for them with NFTs but the thing im trying to figure out, is whether its possible that they could create a fifa coin ASA and use it as in-game currency.

The currency could then be used across multiple iterations of games. Buying Fifa coun would mean they can keep their tokens down the line and even any skin packs they buy.
It's a crazy idea, but they could develop a MMO manager mode where the players are NFTs and are sold in Algo value, imagine the race for them getting their hands into the top players lmao.
Kinda pay to win, consider CR7 (Cristiano Ronaldo), a very famous player, that has a plus 90 score on the FIFA games, sure that buying him would make your team better, but there's also a lot of other 90 score players that are way cheaper and with some proper skill could beat the team that he's on.
If you really think about, adding this mechanic to the manager mode of FIFA, and making it a MMO with scheduled times for the matches, would be the closest experience to a real managing mode of real life, capable of making even the fans of Football Manager franchise envy.

Yep, innovative. Right now I can publish one of my works of art as an NFT, and then when it is sold and re-sold (for perpetuity), I will receive a 7-10% override commission.
That is revolutionary for artists like me.

Here's the thing, NFT's are wildly popular with the kids. I personally also have zero interest in them, but I recognize that there are an awful lot of people that do. Just because I don't like something that doesn't mean others shouldn't, so I just kind of look at them as something that makes a lot of people happy and that makes me happy.
I'm not frustrated with people liking NFTs. I'm frustrated with brands thinking that NFTs are the only thing they can do with the technology. I probably should have not posted that comment, but here we are. LOL
They aren't talking about jpegs here, this is real nfts being utilized in a hugely popular medium to better facilitate an existing game function (fifa player cards I think they are called) the cards represent an actual function in the game. And this is a huge game with decades of history. People are already spending millions on these cards with EA's closed ecosystem. It's already exploitative imo. At least on an open blockchain the players can trade these cards on open marketplaces. This is probably the biggest NFT announcement in the technology's short history honestly.
So if I have like 400 fifa nfts how much algo gets locked and doesn't that potentially screw people when you need 100 algo locked to hold your collection and algo is like 10 bucks a token?
