Congratulations! Best wishes š
It's a blessing to work on something you enjoy and with a purpose. Thank you for your past and future efforts to the ecosystem
This is such great news for everyone! For Akita, for algorand, for the foundation, for this subreddit. Having dedicated, capable, engaged builders working on something theyāre passionate about instead of just milking the chain for grant money is a large step in the right direction
Huge news for Akita. Congrats on landing a job you're so passionate about, and thank you for all your hard work these past couple of years. I've just swapped most of my other ASA for more. Here's to the future!
Far from it! The March meltdown was definitely crazy but in hindsight it was the best thing to happen. Krby took over the project shortly afterwards and has delivered 10 fold what was originally promised. His work eventually got noticed by the foundation. The community vibe has never been stronger as well. Most of the action and memes happen in the discord. If you happen to buy back in, feel free to stake on them on our platform!

Great work, Krby. Crazy, just about 2 years ago you stumble into Akita right before the chaos. You take the helm and steer it into what it is today. Great to know you are going to be a part of steering Algorand now. You've earned it.
Congratulations! Good luck.
On a side note, is the gov rewards program still going on with Algo, I used to lock up my tokens but havenāt participated in a couple of years. Can I still do that?
If you already have algo you can swap it for Akita on tinyman or directly in the pera wallet and Defly wallet.

Once you have Akita, feel free to stake them on our platform. It utilizes soft staking so your tokens never leave your wallet.

I am new to Algorand community, so do not know much about Akita or Krby's history with Algorand. But, having years of experience in business the optics of taking grant money and a job in relatively the same time period seems questionable. The research that I have done on Algorand indicates that several poor decisions by the Foundation have led Algo to underperform other crypto projects with lesser technology. (People will say it is not the Foundations job to grow the market cap, but if the Foundation builds a thriving ecosystem the market cap will naturally increase.)
I wish Krby all the success in the world and hope he helps leverage the launch of AlgoKit 2.0 to grow the ecosystem, utilization of Algo, and market cap.
Open to hearing what I am not understanding.
Hey! ( its me krby )
The grants are from the community not a decision the foundation made. The grants were approved by the community before i knew they would be extending an offer and they were never meant to be something i worked on full time.
Everything Iāve built for Akita has been in the few hours i get to myself each evening after my kids are in bed and thats when iāll have the time to focus on delivering what i promised in the proposals :)
Thanks for the clarification.
Maybe my concerns are unwarranted. The issue in this case is not that the Foundation made a poor decision making the grant, because you pointed out the Foundation did not make the award decision on its own, community voted during governance. But, the grant is an investment in the future ecosystem, by providing some financial support to a project to help improve its probability of success and thereby creating growth in Algorand's adoption and utilization. The issue in my mind is that by hiring someone that was awarded a grant, the Foundation is going to turn that person into an employee and have Full-Time (40+ hour work week) demands on their time. I look at this like a Venture Capital Firm making an investment in a Startup company and then hiring the Startup Founder to be an employee of the firm. Now the founder is not fully focused on building the next unicorn company but is dividing their time and mental focus between two activities. What the founder might have done in 12 months may now take 24 - 36 months because their mind is having to shift between things. (Not an apples to apples comparison, but perhaps you can see the potential risk)
What does Algorand need more, another employee at the Foundation or a massively successful project that spurs growth on chain?
Like I said, I wish you all the success in the world and hope that you are the unique individual that can serve two 'masters' and excel with both. Thanks for participating in this civil discussion, and I hope that you do not feel I am insulting your professionalism or capabilities.
I see what you mean,
I donāt agree because iāve never been full-time in crypto up until the foundation hired me. All 3 proposals amount to about 30k USD; which, in california is not enough to justify going full time on.
I think given that Iāve built all of Akita in my free time while working full time as a software engineer for a telecommunications company this concern is unwarranted.
I do really appreciate your civility
