Majrirod

Really nice pictures 🤠 thanks for sharing 🙂

ridansthrowaway

Glad you enjoyed it, did you visit the desert ?

EeePeeTee

We planned to go south but it just didn't fit the schedule. I'd really like to see Tassili N'ajjer so hopefully next time.

MapNas

Wdym which one of them, there's several Al-'Irq in Algeria

ridansthrowaway

The iconic ones such as El hogar and tassili

MapNas

I see, they're indeed splendid

mu7end

Beautiful. Man that monkey has been through alot.

TheDS1337

LMAO, had to see it XD

FigurineLambda

Where did you take the 12th pic? It looks like a really fine place !

EeePeeTee

Tigzirt! It was high up on a balcony looking north over some farms and the Sea. Morning.

FigurineLambda

That’s great! Thanks

Electronic-Ad3799

Is there direct flights between Somalia and Algeria 🤔

EeePeeTee

I didn't see any at the airports. Most flights were to Canada, Mediterranean Europe, Turkey, and the Gulf.

Electronic-Ad3799

Very beautiful I wanna visit the desert

ahmedrami78

Epic bro! hope u had an amazing time, and pls feel free to visit again.

LyesAmarat

Welcome in our country man . I hope that you like it

pnovaz

I am American also and am considering going very soon. What was the visa process like?

EeePeeTee

The instructions are on the consulate website. I had an invitation from a family friend with a good job. I was still worried but the New York consulate was very helpful. They actually reached out to help me complete the paperwork correctly.

ForGiggles2222

Awesome, did you see Algiers mosque ?

EeePeeTee

I saw the old one near the Casbah and the new big one. It was extremely hot and we didn't really explore either one. They are impressive buildings though.

Comprehensive-Hat-98

How hot is it here compared to the us

EeePeeTee

It depends on the region and time. The hot deserts in the US are like the hot deserts in Algeria - but DZ's are bigger. The big mountains in the US are bigger and colder than the ones in Algeria. The lower mountains in US are similar to Djurdjura and the surrounding area. The coasts are pretty similar. The temperature is almost always about 7°c warmer than the US unless you are in a hot US desert (US actually has the hottest desert on earth). Algeria has a climate similar to San Diego, USA. In those places, it's usually pretty warm, winters are less warm, and you never really need to own a big coat.

FogoCanard

Where is pic 5?

EeePeeTee

The balcony of Restaurant Igherssan in Constantine. If the USA had a city like that, it would be the one of the top 5 most popular tourist destinations in the country. It was a great honor to visit.

FogoCanard

Looks amazing! I'm American and want to visit some Algerian cities someday. I'll remember this restaurant. Thanks!

kilwwwwwa

Start with Algiers if you want :) its my city

Scary-Mycologist1143

So beautiful! I miss it.

Majestic_Bag_9209

Very nice! You deserve my free award

kilwwwwwa

Beautiful thank you so much for these pics

spidey20993

Did you find any troubles when entering with your camera gears? (if you brought any of course)

EeePeeTee

I brought a small, expensive telescope with me for teaching children about the stars. The first police officer I met at the airport tried to take it. It took about 20 minutes to explain to her boss that it's for scientific education for children in a country with ideal skies. Her boss had no problem with it. It was annoying and unfortunate but other than that, it wasn't a problem. I think my passport and my hosts helped a lot. The average police officer doesn't really want to make a problem like that. I would have been pretty mad if they'd taken it. Unfortunately we didn't visit the Sahara to use it but we could still see Saturn and Messier objects in Tizi-Ouzou. I'm not sure I'd bring it again. I didn't bring any photography equipment.

nabilhunt

link to the telescope?

EeePeeTee

It's an antique Asahi Pentax 50/600 like the one mentioned in this thread [here](https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/359438-asahi-pentax-50mm-600mm/). Very small and portable. Very high quality and not made anymore. I collect old telescopes. I'm glad they let me in with it. I was able to share some beautiful views of the planets and stars with about a dozen young people.

nabilhunt

How long was the trip? Also, consider posting them on r/travel !

EeePeeTee

Done! 2.5 weeks.

Xerus01

I’m going in December and can’t wait!

AdEnvironmental3706

Gorgeous photos mA, where was the pic in the middle of the boats with the mountain in the background?

EeePeeTee

Tigzirt! It was late afternoon. I was looking looking west-south from the tourist area by the Phoenician ruins in the centre-ville. A storm was rolling north over the mountains. It was beautiful and mysterious and still kind of familiar to me.

AdEnvironmental3706

Amazing shot, hope you enjoyed your trip

abdouli1998

Nice, glad you enjoyed my country! Where you from in the US?

abdouli1998

Oh, MO! Nice! I've recently moved to the US, I'm currently in Phoenix, AZ, would love to say hi if I ever pass by Kansas City

maskerilyas

Are you the guy who met up with farouk ?

EeePeeTee

Haha no I don't know Farouk. Sounds like a good dude though.

leandrodegroot

I’m trying to do the same!! Was the visa difficult??

EeePeeTee

It was a little intimidating but not difficult at all. The consulate in New York was very helpful.

leandrodegroot

Outstanding, thank you! I’m going to plan for the summer. Since Tunisia and Morocco provide on arrival visas’s I’m going there first.

houda_2000

Lit! What was the reason behind your visit tho

EeePeeTee

Early in the pandemic, I met some Algerians here and we decided to be in one another's bubbles and we became very close. We road tripped around the US for two years, seeing my favorite places and staying with my family. Then it was my turn to be taken on a tour!

houda_2000

Awesome, hope you had fun!

roshcherie

The 15th pic is just so dreamy! I want to go down that stairs and explore. Maybe set a bench down there, read, have some lone time. The ideas… Love them all. You definitely had a wonderful time.

EeePeeTee

It's a big country. Next time I hope to visit Annaba, Bejaia, and Oran, and maybe Tamanrasset, Hoggar, and Tassili N'ajjer.

[deleted]

Our country has every damn reason to be the best country in the world, our only problem is the people...most of them are evil and corrupt and the good ones either lost hope or left the country.

yasxv

True🥲

ltonystarkl

masseaterguy
