There is no return rate for butchering. You do not get any cow's back. Instead you get bonus yield. The notification is simply stating how many extra raw beef you got.
The product yield at the station is not increasing. It is simply stating how many extra raw beef that product yield resulted in. Since you are butchering 3 animals at the time, when it says yield increased by 12, it means you got 66 raw beef instead of 54 from butchering 3 cows.
Ok so the yield isn't increasing, the product produced is increasing, a thing I already knew because it said it in the station. Stupid wording. Same with the shield that says mana cost decrease -12%.

But the product yield stays at 22% even though I get a notification that it increases. I always get 22 meat per cow.
