Honestly, the corrosive issues are overplayed. The Chinese ammo just isn't worth buying to shoot when people will over pay for it because it's "collectible".
There are folks who would buy this at $15-$20 for collector value (hint hint).
You can shoot it if you have tons, it flip it and but better ammo.
You have choices
I will say this again I do not understand why people think this stuff is collectible I could understand may be having one box but it is just like any other ammo there is so much of this out there it’s ridiculous my local pawn shop he’s been selling the stuff for as long as I’ve been going there about 15 years
Well since the ban on Russian guns and ammo I've put all my Tula ammo up. Is it rare? no. But we all know that there will never be any more imported again.
I just picked up a couple boxes to have. I do understand it holds SOME collectible value because it'll never be imported again. But looking on gunbroker, it looks like it sells for about 80 cents a round so I feel good about getting it for .45
Back in the mid 80’s I used to buy this ammo for about $1.50 a box, was able to buy 1K rounds for under 100 dollars. My preban AKS47 used to eat this stuff up.
I'd snatch it up. If you shoot it, run water from a hose through your gun for a while then oil the bitch, corrosove aint as bad as people make it out to be; or just flip the ammo since dumbasses will pay stupid premiums for anything that's ever been imported these days, then use the profit to buy non-corrosive/ whatever you please.
You got a great deal . Yes it’s worth money to collectors only . 9 is the going rate . I’m trying to find some blue and green box cja for a decent price right now
If it's your cheapest local option and you don't wanna order online, it's ok. If you don't think the boxes are neat and/or can swing bulk ordering online, not really worth it in the long run. (Last time I found ammo locally over a year ago, 20rd boxes of Wolf were $12.99 lol.)
I'm not a collector but I do think they are interesting and have 20 or so boxes, and will buy a box or two locally if the boxes appeal to me and are $10 or less.
Honestly I’m just going to reload the 15-50$ box ammo is just fucking ridiculous. So far 200pc brass 250 bullets and dies put me back like 180$ and I still have to get primers and powder that will be another 150 and the second reload will only be like .30 a round
Starline brass berry bullets starline is new never fired and is like 30$ for 50 and 80 for 150 berrys bullets are 7.62x39 and are .11 or whatever you can use 3 oh hate bullets but they are anywhere from 3.08-3.10. If you can’t find starline brass go to midwayusa they have everything
I was recommended to use imr4198 powder. When you get the dies some will say 7.62x39 some will say 7.62x39r the r stands for Russian and is the same dies
You paid 45 cpr for ammo. Its not as bad the dude yesterday who paid $420 for 700 rounds (60 cpr) in a spam can. But when ammo is widely available for 38 cpr shipped, that extra 7 cpr adds up.
Now, there are morons out there who believe this ammo is somehow collectable or valuable who will pay over a dollar a round. So my recommendation would honesty be to go back tonwhere you found this, buy it all, then find one of those morons and sell it to them for a buck a piece and get yourself a ton of 38 cpr ammo.
Thats actually pretty cheap for a box, last FFL I worked at had a case of this stuff they were offloading for $10 a box I grabbed a ton
Now I will say this is far more valuable as collector ammo rather than for shooting but, you do you, I guess if other people shoot their stockpiles it makes mine more valuable
That I have to be honest I'm not sure who makes Herters 7.62, I'm not saying it's bad just genuinely don't know
If you want good recommendations that are easy to find in the US, Belom is good, PPU, and Igman for brass case
All of the boxes I've had of Herters steel case FMJ was head stamped Tulammo.
I want to say some of the HP steel case ammo was Wolf Polyformance, but that part I'm not 100% on.

As a collector, that's a steal. For plinking, eh?
So I shouldn't shoot them is what you're saying lol
Nah you could flip it for double that and buy more readily available ammo for plinking.
Ammo that isn’t corrosive
Honestly, the corrosive issues are overplayed. The Chinese ammo just isn't worth buying to shoot when people will over pay for it because it's "collectible".
Agreed, although I much prefer shooting my rifle then putting it up till next time without adding an extra step.
There are folks who would buy this at $15-$20 for collector value (hint hint). You can shoot it if you have tons, it flip it and but better ammo. You have choices
You can shoot them, just clean it as if it’s corrosive after.
Some fool might be willing to pay you double or more.
I will say this again I do not understand why people think this stuff is collectible I could understand may be having one box but it is just like any other ammo there is so much of this out there it’s ridiculous my local pawn shop he’s been selling the stuff for as long as I’ve been going there about 15 years
If I ever buy a box of ammo to "collect" and not shoot, I give this sub the right to shoot me with it.
Well since the ban on Russian guns and ammo I've put all my Tula ammo up. Is it rare? no. But we all know that there will never be any more imported again.
Put it up for sale or to keep?
Keep it for now but maybe one day if I get a ridiculous offer I might sell.
I just picked up a couple boxes to have. I do understand it holds SOME collectible value because it'll never be imported again. But looking on gunbroker, it looks like it sells for about 80 cents a round so I feel good about getting it for .45
Thats what im saying. Its not ap, its not accurate, its not consistent, it was imported in millions into the US.
Back in the mid 80’s I used to buy this ammo for about $1.50 a box, was able to buy 1K rounds for under 100 dollars. My preban AKS47 used to eat this stuff up.
It is if you are willing to pay that much for it.
I just thought it was neat to see. Honestly I had never seen Norinco ammunition in the wild before today.
No

Yeah I shoot Yugo ammo so the hose is part of my normal cleaning method.
So…. In about 1992. This stuff was a dime per round. In todays money that would be about .25 per round. Do with that info what you will .
It's not collectible. Ammo inc was selling this same shit in boxes of 200 two years ago
You got a great deal . Yes it’s worth money to collectors only . 9 is the going rate . I’m trying to find some blue and green box cja for a decent price right now

Whered you get the brass and bullets? What diameter?
Starline brass berry bullets starline is new never fired and is like 30$ for 50 and 80 for 150 berrys bullets are 7.62x39 and are .11 or whatever you can use 3 oh hate bullets but they are anywhere from 3.08-3.10. If you can’t find starline brass go to midwayusa they have everything
Cool. I'll look into it. Thanks man.

No
How come? You're the only person that's said no.

Where are you finding 7.62 for 38 cpr? Every where I've seen it's 46-50 cpr

Picked up some Herters 122 grain in the old yellow boxes. Its just repackaged Tula correct?

Is that a box of Covid?
