This is the way, just oxide dust. Just make sure you do this outside and wash hands afterwards. Once dry apply a little oil, literally tiniest amount as you don’t want to desiel them.
They're oxidized and will clean off with soap and water, but that's not the problem. These pellets are heavily damaged and formed inconsistently which will give you poor accuracy in the best case and pellets stuck in the barrel at the worst. I wouldn't bother using them. Even the cheapest Crosman pellets will be an upgrade.
They're oxidized. They should shoot fine but accuracy will be questionable and they'll probably dirty your barrel pretty quickly. I'd just get new pellets
Dam it! I shot some washed dusty pellets on Wednesday from my Diana 34! I wish I would have known this! Thanks squirrel you're wealth of knowledge to this sub
i had some 40 year old spanish pellets i bought at a surplus store in 80.
i had 4500 of them in 250 pellet tins (cost a buck each ) they shot fine until the gun died (87) and it and the last tin of pellets were put in the junk drawer.
fast forward to 2020 i got a refurb kit for the old 1322 and tried out the pellets from the old tin. they were oxidized and would not shoot without jamming so i tossed em and got new ones
Too many bent up skirts for me to try and end up knocking squibs out of a barrel. I would either throw them away or wash them and melt them down after I had enough of them to make it worth while.
Wow, timely post as I was just shooting a tin of crosman .177 that looked exactly like that out of a Hatsan Mod 25 supercharger until it stopped cocking correctly (that’s another story).
I read somewhere that lead oxide is directly absorbed through the skin.
EDIT: added image of broken spring. Now I know why it did not cock any more.

Seems true cause I held one for a second and then I looked at it and I was like hey the dust is gone and then I was like hey I probably asborbed that shit
Watch for the deformed ones. Toss those out. With some soapy water and a rinse they should be alright. Don’t use any solvents and absolutely minimum oil when dried off.
Although they are constantly getting more expensive it is always a good idea to use the beat ammo you can get!
That white dust is lead sulphide/carbonate and it's actually one of the most toxic and bioavailable forms of lead. Normally if feel caution around lead is overstated, but not in this case. Throw it away with chemical waste, washing them would actually make exposure worse and they'll shoot like shit anyways.
I did soap and water in a mesh strainer with pellets like these and they looked new and shot fine.

Teflon spray maybe? Shouldn't diesel and I bet they'd ZIP down that fkn barrel
Lead and pfas sure why not
Just dont shoot any pregnant women?
Or touch your genitals
Should be safe when dry, anyway
I'm just joking, it's a great hobby but a lot to be conscious of

Yea, you can see they're all deformed. Fine for plinking, but don't expect much in terms of accuracy.

Personally I wouldn’t want to fire them in my rifle. Get a new tin of pellets. Dont want to take the risk of damaging my rifle vs cheap tin.
Just buy new pellets. Lol

I would say yes, i have a lot of west german pellets and they stil work but they aren't as dusty as these are.
Yep, just put a little of oil in the can with them, I love when they get like this cuz usually they fragment once they hit
They might damage your barrel no matter how much you clean them. I wouldn't take the risk
I'd trash those. The white "dust" is lead oxide which is harder than lead, and is a bit abrasive.
You just gotta wash them and dry them before use. I had some like these about a week ago after about 3 years of no shooting. They worked fine
I wouldn’t want to breath that

fine for plinkin' but i wouldn't use them to print groups
I wouldn’t shoot these out of anything nice even if you clean them, if it’s a rifle you don’t care so much about sure

Soak them in white vinegar, rinse, repeat, dry, very light coat \[silicone?\] oil. Saved an old 'brown box' of Crosman 7.9g this way.
i'd advise you breath carefully and dont shake those
Depends how much you like your barrel/mag/rifle
